The way to avoid sin and overcome evil is to think deeply about Jesus and look to Jesus. The knowledge of Jesus is linked to the growth of our faith. When you say you know Jesus, it is not about knowing a few verses of the Bible; you know who Jesus is and what he is like in your relationship with Him.
If you are close to Jesus, you will turn away from sin and overcome evil. As written in verse 13, we must do this all the time – “but exhort one another daily, while it is called today; least any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” It is recommended every day. What is recommended? It is not to have an evil heart; it is to have a heart of faith.
