ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE  길가에서 받은 도움

Psalm 46  

God is our refuge and strength,

a very present help in trouble.                        —Psalm 46:1

내가 아는 한 사람이

영국 여왕의 시골 영지인 발모랄 근처에서 친구들과 사냥을 하고 있었습니다.

걷던 중에 그는 발목을 심하게 삐어 더 이상 걸을 수가 없어서,

친구들에게 계속해서 가라고 하고 길가에 앉아 기다리기로 했습니다.

An acquaintance of mine was hunting with friends

near Balmoral, the country estate of the queen of England.

As they walked, he twisted his ankle so badly

that he couldn’t go on, so he told his friends

to continue and he would wait by the side of the road.

그가 앉아 있는데 자동차 한 대가 길을 따라 내려오다가 속도를 줄이더니 멈추어 섰습니다.

운전하던 여인이 창문을 내리며 그가 괜찮은지 물었습니다.

그가 상황을 설명하고 친구들이 돌아오기를 기다리고 있다고 하자,

그녀는 “타세요. 숙소에 데려다 드리지요.”라고 말했습니다.

그가 절룩거리며 차로 다가가 문을 열고나서

그녀가 바로 엘리자베스 여왕이라는 것을 알게 되었습니다!

As he sat there,

a car came down the road, slowed, and stopped.

The woman driving rolled the window down

and asked if he was okay.

He explained and said he was waiting for his friends to return.

She said, “Get in; I’ll take you back to where you are staying.”

He limped to the car and opened the door only to realize

that it was Queen Elizabeth!

영국 여왕으로부터 도움을 받는 것이 아주 놀라운 일일 수도 있지만,

우리는 그보다 훨씬 더 놀라운 도움을 제안 받고 있습니다.

우주의 창조자이신 하나님께서 이 세상에 내려오셔서

우리의 고난을 보시고 우리를 돕기 위해 주님의 자원을 다 쓰시겠다고 제안하십니다.

시편기자가 자신 있게 단언하듯이 “하나님은…환난 중에 만날 큰 도움”(시 46:1)이십니다.

우리 구주는 우리를 도와 참을 수 있도록 은혜를 주시고, 지탱하도록 말씀을 주시며,

격려하고 기도하는 친구들과, 주님이

모든 것을 합력하여 궁극에는 영적인 선을 이루실 거라는 확신을 주십니다.

As shocking as receiving help from the queen of England

may be, we have an offer of help

that is even more astounding.

The Creator-God of the universe descends into our world,

sees our trouble, and offers to marshal His resources

to help us.

As the psalmist confidently affirms,

“God is . . . a very present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1).

Our Savior helps by giving us grace to endure,

His Word to sustain us, friends to encourage and pray for us,

and the confidence that He will ultimately work it all together

for our spiritual good.

다음에 인생길에서 궁지에 빠지거든 조력자 되시는 주님을 찾으십시오

Lord, I’m thankful that when I experience trouble
You are waiting and wanting to help.

Teach me to look to You

and to rest in Your kind and loving care

until You deliver me safely home.

주님, 제가 고난을 겪을 때

주님께서 돕기 위하여
기다리고 또 기다리시니 감사합니다.

주님께서 저를 안전하게
본향으로 데리고 가실 때까지,

주님을 바라보며, 주님의 친절하고
사랑에 넘치는 돌보심 안에서 안식할 수 있도록

인도해주소서.
