“The size and depth of our team wore them down in the end,” Jackson said.

울 팀의 사이즈와 선수의 뎁쓰가 결국 호넷츠를 지치게 만들었지.

The performance left coach Phil Jackson saying his current squad has the “potential to be as good as any team I’ve coached with the Lakers.”

내가 레이커스에 와서 맡은 팀중 지금의 멤버가 가장 최고의 팀이 될 수 있는 잠재력을 가졌어.

"Our bigs played the way we wanted to see them play," Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said.

우리가 원했던 모습 그대로 빅맨들이 플레이를 해줬어.

"Our bigs got a lot better as we went through [the series] as far as playing screen-roll defense," Jackson said.

우리 빅맨들의 스크린롤에 대한 수비가 시리즈가 진행되면 진행될수록 나아졌어.

"It's been our weakness in the past," Lakers Coach Phil Jackson told reporters in New Orleans. "We learned a lot about it in the series and we got better."

과거에는 스크린롤에 대한 대처가 우리의 약점이었지. 그 점에 대해 이번 시리즈를 통해 많이 배웠고, 더 좋아졌어.

"This series is over, so it's all about the next matchup," Jackson said.

이제 이 시리즈는 끝났어. 다음 시리즈만을 생각하자고.

"They are big," Jackson said. "[Dirk] Nowitzki's a seven-footer and so is Tyson Chandler. So they have size. But these [Lakers] guys have proven their dominance by their size. This is why they're champions."

(다음 상대는 댈러스) 걔들은 신장이 커. 사기츠키도 7풋이고, 챈들러도 그렇고 말야. 저쪽도 신장으로 대항할 수 있어. 하지만 울 팀 선수들은 신장에 의한 도미넌트함을 이미 보여줬지. 괜히 우리가 챔피언이 아니거든.

"We have a reputation for being soft," Coach Phil Jackson said. "We obviously don't believe that about ourselves."

우리는 (피지컬에 약하고) 소프트하다는 것으로 유명하지. 하지만 우리 자신들은 우리를 그걸 믿지는 않아.

"When things work [on defense], it helps morale," Bryant said. "It helps generate momentum and the right kind of energy that you need to win games -- even more so than offensively."

수비에 신경쓰면, 사기를 북돋을 수 있지. 모멘텀을 발생시키고, 승리에 필요한 에너지를 불러일으키지. 공격보다 훨씬 그렇다니깐.

"We got a chance to really work on what probably is our biggest weakness -- screen-roll defense," Bryant said. "It's a big challenge for us to play and we played against one of the best to do it."

아마도 우리 수비의 최대 약점인 스크린롤에 대한 수비를 어떻게 대처할 것인지 준비할 기회가 있었어. 스크린롤 수비는 우리에게 가장 큰 도전이고, 그것을 가장 잘 활용하는 팀과 경기를 했던 것이지.

“We’re good at making adjustments and learning,” Bryant said. “So the more a series goes on, the more we learn. That comes from our coaching staff. That comes from us and the amount of experience we have, being able to pick teams apart the later we go in a series.”

우리는 조정과 학습에 능해. 그래서 시리즈가 진행되면 될수록 우린 점점 더 배우게 되지. 그건 우리 코칭스탭으로부터, 또한 우리의 많은 경험으로부터 오는 것이며, 시리즈가 진행되면서 상대팀을 분쇄해버리지.

"He's our anchor defensively," Bryant said. "On top of that, he's shown the ability to knock down jumpers. It's going to give teams a headache now that you have two 7-footers."

"He was tired," Bryant said. "He was all over the place this series. That little sucker is tough."

"Not great, obviously, but I'm happy that I was able to bounce back after a slow start," Gasol said. "I think my energy and my contribution was a lot better, as it was supposed to be."

분명 내 모습이 대단치는 않았어. 하지만 시리즈 초반의 삽질모드에서 회복할 수 있어서 기뻐. 내 에너지와 기여도는 훨씬 나아졌어. 예전부터 그랬어야 했듯이 말야.

"This is the way it has happened for us in the last few years, and it seems to work," Derek Fisher said. "You would like to sweep the early rounds, but if you don't, they help you develop that thick skin, that mentality that you will need for the rest of the playoffs."

(6차전까지 간 것) 지난 몇년간 계속 이런식이었던 것 같아. 초반 라운드는 시리즈 스윕을 하고 싶어하지. 하지만 그렇지 못한다면, 그런 것에 조급해하지 않는 둔감함을 줄 것이야. 남은 플옵시리즈에서 필요한 요소중 하나이지.

As Fisher said, "I think it's still understated what Bynum has meant to this team. Obviously Kobe, Pau, Lamar and Ron Artest deserve the credit they get, but I think more times than not it's understated for Bynum because his stats don't jump out at you."

바이넘이 우리 팀에 어떤 존재인지 아직 과소평가되고 있는 것 같아. 코비, 파우, 론론은 그들이 받아야할 명성을 확실히 누리는 것에 비해 말야. 하지만 바이넘은 스탯에서 드러나는 것이 없어서 그런지 과소평가 받을때가 더 많은 것 같아.

"We learned how to play with each other," Artest said when asked what took so long. "We started off, I don't think collectively hard. And then our backs were against the wall. Did we lose the first game?" "So our backs were against the wall."

(시리즈를 이기는데 왜이리 오래걸린거야?) 서로 함께 플레이를 어떻게 해야하는지 배웠었어. 시작은 별로였지. 함께 열심히 하지 못해서 그랬어. 그렇게 벼랑끝에 몰렸던 것이지. 우리가 첫번째 경기를 졌었던가? (그래, 첫경기를 졌지) 거봐! 벼랑끝에 몰렸던 것 맞네.

"This series got our motors going," Ron Artest said late Thursday from underneath a mountain of ice.

이번 시리즈 덕분에 우리팀 시동을 걸게 되었어.

"It has to be worth it," Artest said of the pose. "And when it happens like that, it's worth it."

(근육키스?) 그럴만한 가치가 있지. 키스할 일이 생긴다면, 다 그럴만한 가치가 있는 거야.

"It's kind of like this bond that starts to happen," Lamar Odom said. "Intensity picks up. Communication picks up. Eye contact amongst each other kind of picks up and collective energy and synergy picks up."

드디어 하나됨이 시작된 것 같아. 집중도가 높아졌고, 서로 소통도 이루어지고 있지. 아이컨택도 활발하고, 하나된 에너지와 시너지 효과가 나오고 있어.

"With my role, sometimes I feel like I can have good games and the stat sheet might not say it," Odom said. "I just try to make the right play, as well as be aggressive and help lead the second unit. I just try to stay patient."

내 맡은 역할이 있기 때문에, 때때로 난 좋은 경기를 펼쳤다고 생각되어지는데 스탯상으론 그렇지 않을때가 있지. 난 그저 올바른 플레이를 펼치려고 노력할 뿐야. 적극적으로 임하고, 세컨 유닛을 이끄려고 하지. 침착하게 꾸준하게 플레이할 뿐야.

"So whether it's eight points or 16 points, I expect to play good basketball."

내가 8득점을 했던, 16득점을 했던.. 그저 좋은 경기를 펼치기를 기대할 뿐이야.

Said Bynum: "[We did] not allow them to take our space."

오늘 저들이 우리의 공간을 유린하는 것을 허락하지 않았지.

"We got up and were up on every screen and roll," Bynum told KCAL-9's John Ireland in his courtside interview. "We didn't let Chris Paul come off and dictate too much and they didn't hit shots tonight."

스크린을 이용한 뉴올의 모든 공격에 대해 대처했어. CP3가 경기를 지배하지 않도록 했고, 그래서 저들은 오늘 슛이 저조했지.

"I was trying to get deep position and do something with it so my teammates could trust me," Bynum said. "They will try to get the ball to you if they know you can do something with it."

난 그저 골밑 깊숙히 자리잡은 상태에서 플레이를 펼치려고 해. 그래서 울 동료들이 날 신뢰할 수 있게 말야. 공을 잡아서 플레이를 성공시킬 수 있으면 동료들이 공을 계속 투입하려고 하거든.

"I'm just trying to improve my mind and stay focused," Bynum said

난 그저 내 마인드를 향상시키고 집중력을 유지하려고 할뿐이야.

"It was good, but it wasn't great. Above average. Adequate. But, really good at times," Person said. "That's the type of D that we can play, and should play, on a consistent basis. We need to continue to keep moving forward with it."

(오늘 팀의 수비) Good 이었어. 하지만 Great는 아니야. 평균을 이상의 적절한 수준이었어. 하지만 가끔은 정말 매우 좋았지. 이런 것이 우리가 선보일 수 있는 수비력이야. 그리고 꾸준하게 이렇식으로 해야만 하고. 이런 수비력을 가지고 계속 나가야 해.
