For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6
1. FILL YOUR LIFE WITH GOD. The book of Habakkuk reveals that “the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). The earth won’t just know an itemized historical list about Jesus; the earth will be filled with the knowledge of His glory: meaning knowing His anointing, authority, power, and presence. Let God’s glory fill your life.
2. STUDY THE SCRIPTURES. A group of people called the Bereans were commended by the apostles as noble-minded because “they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore, many of them believed” (Acts 17:11-12a). If you want to start a new hobby, make the Bible your hobby. If you want to go on a big adventure, climb the mountains of the scriptures.
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:2-3
3. START YOUR DAY WITH GOD. Grace and peace are multiplied to you to the degree that you immerse yourself in the God stuff. How do you do that? Get up every morning, and before you turn on the TV, get with God. Spend time acknowledging Him, thanking Him, and praising Him. When I wake up, I turn on the coffee pot, and then I get my devotionals and I dive in. I send them to my family, and I study the Bible. And then I let the Holy Spirit lead me. I’ve tried starting my days without time with God, but it was not as good.
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14 NASB1995
4. PEOPLE CAN TELL WHEN YOU’VE BEEN WITH JESUS. The knowledge of God permeating out of our lives is the goal. Peter and John were fishermen and did not have the advantage of pursuing study like some of the other disciples, but people could tell something was different. “Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). When we have been with Jesus, we carry the sweet aroma of Him – His glory and His presence – everywhere we go. We don’t have to project it or be spooky; it is a result of time spent with God and very much part of what God has intended us to walk in.
