현대인의 위대한 도전은 인간의 지성(mind) 안에 거하는 신다운 훈계자와 더 나은 소통을 이루는 것이다. 인간의 육체에 대한 가장 큰 모험은 신성한 존재와 영 의식의 경계에 도달하기 위한 전심전력으로 혼 의식이 태어나는 희미한 영역을 통해, 자기 의식의 경계를 확장하려는 균형잡히고 분별 있는 노력에서 이루어진다. 그러한 체험은 하나님을 의식하는 것으로, 앞서 존재하는 진실, 곧 하나님을 아는 종교적 체험을 충분히 확인하는 체험이다. 그러한 영 의식은 하나님과 아들 관계의 실체에 대한 지식과 맞먹는 것이다. 그렇지 않으면, 아들이라는 확신은 믿음의 체험이다.

- 예수는 추종자들에게 하나님의 아들이 되는 것을 믿으라고 하였다.

그러나 지금에 이르러 그 믿음은 실체로 변화되었다.
