Bible Matrix ⑦_101_REV 1:3 – Blessed is the one who reads, blessed are those who hear it and take to heart

<Revelation> 1:3 - Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.(NIV); Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.(KJV); God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.(NLT)

○ The keyword of this verse is that blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who keep the words of this prophecy.

○ But singular and plural are important here to understand this verse in depth. “The one who reads…” is singular as one person, and “those who hear and keep…” are plural as many people.

○ One picture comes to mind. It's like a scene of a worship service in a community or a church service in a church.

1) A person stands up and reads <Revelation> aloud. That is the meaning of “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy”.

2) Then the congregation must listen carefully to its message or words what he or she is reading. That is the meaning of “Blessed are those who hear the words of this prophecy”.

3) And lastly the listeners must try to keep or obey the words of this prophecy by faith. That is the meaning of “Blessed are those who take to heart or keep those things what is written in it”.

○ In those days, it was not easy to own the Bible individually as it is today. Therefore, in those days, if you do not listen to the Bible which he or she reads aloud during a worship service, you will not have any chance to listen to the Bible.

○ Why they are blessed? because time is near.  “Because time is near” is the same meaning of what I mentioned in previous session, <Bible Matrix ⑦_98>.
