Coco is still a bit scared of people but has the sweetest angel eyes. She is a calm, easygoing dog.
We assume there could be some trauma in her past, as Coco is more scared of adult men. But she’s such a lovely dog and once she see you won’t hurt her, she will start to trust you.
🧡 Name: Coco
🌼 Age: Est. 3 years
🌼 Sex: Female (Spayed)
🌼 Weight: 8kg
🌼 Vaccine: Completed
🍀 Reactions regarding unfamiliar environments and meeting strangers:
It took about a day for her to come to us and let us pet her. She’s most scared of crowded environments. It took about a week for her to get used to a new environment.
🍀 When her foster parents first met Coco:
We pulled her out of her crate and let her be alone for the first day because Coco would turn away from us and never come out of her crate at all.
We spent time in the same room with Coco and tried not to look at her or touch her, in order to give her time to get used to us and make her feel safe with us.
🍀 Sociability With People:
- She can be scared of other people, including children.
- Due to Coco being scared when a stranger tries to come over and touch her, we recommend you hand her snacks in a safe space slowly and build trust with her.
🍀 Reaction to Children:
Coco reacts the same to children as others. She’s especially scared when someone is running and making loud sounds.
🍀 Fear of people based on gender:
She seems more scared of adult men than others.
🍀 Reaction to Other Dogs:
Coco seems uncomfortable being around barking or active dogs, though she has an easier time getting along with chill or more mannered dogs somewhat.
We expect things could change once she becomes less timid. Her lack of reaction to other dogs barking is what makes us take her as a non-aggressive or fearful dog.
🍀 Reaction to Cats:
Coco doesn’t react to either cats or birds.
🍀 Barking Issues:
She doesn’t bark at all, though she sometimes whines for snacks.
🍀 Aggression or Biting Issues:
- We only heard Coco bit someone once at the hospital before, but we never saw any of that behavior while she was with us.
🍀 Eating Habits/Favorite Food:
Coco loves any food or snacks. She really liked when I gave her different kinds of boiled pork.
🍀 Coprophagia (eating feces):
None
🍀 Sleeping Preferences:
As we think it’s important to build trust with Coco, we usually slept together on the same bed. Sometimes Coco would walk out of the room and sleep on her own bed.
🍀 Crate Training:
We were worried that Coco wouldn’t come out of the crate once she goes inside, so we didn’t start the training yet.
🍀 Potty-Training:
She’s trained to go to the bathroom outside, however she did use the pad indoor in the beginning when she wasn’t able to go outside.
🍀 Marking:
None
🍀 Playing with Toys:
She can play with nosework toys, though she doesn’t like toys that make sounds.
🍀 Separation Anxiety:
None
🍀 Walking Outside:
She’s still a bit scared of going outside. She avoids me when I come to her with her harness but she doesn’t refuse once I actually get it on her.
🍀 Does she recognize her name? Does she come to you when you call her outside?
Coco knows her name but she’s not callback trained.
🍀 Understood Commands:
Sit/Hand/Wait
🍀 Health Issues/Required Treatments
She has a problem building tartar on her teeth, so she may need treatment for her teeth sometimes.
🍀 Car-Training:
Coco has no issue with being in the car or with carsickness. (We were holding her the entire time)
🍀 Things of note for interested Families:
Coco is a timid dog, however she can also be more adventurous or independent. She’s still scared of strangers but once she trusts you, she would come to you and even show you her stomach.
She got so much better in a short time with walking outside, even though she only wanted to hide and run away when we took her out at first, but now she can easily walk in quiet places.
We believe she can even get better than now if you keep walking her outside with some patience.
For now she can easily walk on a hiking trail and walk by people with little issue, but she still needs training to deal with her fear of loud noise.
🍀 Ideal Family:
- Family who can supply her calm environment.
- Family who can be patient with her.
🍀 How does she react when you are around her while she’s eating or when you steal her food? Is she be aggressive or growl to others?
-Coco loves food but she’s not obsessed with toys or food. Even if you take her food away she would just let you do it.
