They agreed to form the "Korean Catholic Task Force on Newly-risen Religions," which will be the first national-level effort to combat heretical movements.</p><p><br></p><p>Participants at the meeting, including Auxiliary Bishop Simon Ok Hyun-jin of Gwangju, discussed joint action against the Sincheonji movement which damages the Catholic community with aggressive missionary works.</p><p><br></p><p>The network will counteract Sincheonji on a national level by offering counseling to those who become immersed in the movement and warning their own members away. They will soon hold two seminars on the damage caused by the group.</p><p><br></p><p>Shinchonji, means "new Heaven and new Earth" and was founded in 1980 by Lee Man-hui who, his followers believe, is the "returned Jesus."</p><p><br></p><p>Father Mark Lee Geum-jae of Jeonju said, "Our church has been engaged in fight against heretic cults for 2,000 years.
