Please pray urgently for 'North Korean defectors' school' mission by Seoul Hosanna Church (Report by Hyorim Hwang)
Dear Pastor John and Marie,
This is Hyorim Hwang.
Since you've visited Seoul Hosanna, we've set up a new family personal training department and mission department. Every week, newcomers who have good soil of heart visit us and they are settling well into the church. We are learning once again that the vision that Pastor John shared with us is same as God's vision.
Since I was appointed as a leader of Mission Department, I have been researching more than 30 organisations while holding on to the vision of church revival and mission revival.
Thankfully, the first door that has opened to us is 'North Korean defectors (refugees, escapees) school'. We are invited for 5 weeks from tomorrow (1st April).
About 100 students are attending the school.
At first, they asked us to come on the 25th March, just one day for Easter Celebration Mini Conference. However, another pastor suddenly had to preach on that day, our conference was cancelled.
But we heard from one of teachers that the chaplain of the school will be absent for a month in April. So our team immediately gathered and prayed to enter into the school and hold hangout in April for a month.
We understood this situation as a sign for our team to unite so we prayed together and fought spiritual battle, on that same day, the door of ministry '5 weeks Hangout' was opened.
At first, it seemed like the door of ministry was being shut but through this God gathered our hearts together for the organisation ministry, gave us the heart of desire and led us into a greater plan.
Miraculously, the ministry was opened for 5 weeks. Through this, in our prayer, we understood God's heart and how much God wants to save them and that God's tear is upon that place.
After the door of ministry was opened like this, every morning prayer, twice a week, all workers gathered for intercession prayer.
After the morning prayer, about 10 of us who had spare time, those who have volunteered for this school mission, we've gathered and shared vision and prayed together.
On the 1st April, we will hold the mini conference first and after that we are planning to hold 4 weeks Hangouts.
The school said, they've invited many pastors but it was hard to save one student, they all have given up after a month of two and leave the school.
These students who have escaped North Korea, have gone through near-death experiences, many scars in their hearts..so they do not easily open their hearts.
They learned 'self-reliance ideology' in North Korea so they can not believe in invisible spiritual world.. most of them do not believe in God.
We've heard many negative stories about these students, but we won't be discouraged.
It is God who have opened the door of ministry, we believe that God will work and we are praying in faith.
Our team has 15 members and there are about 10 members who have volunteered to join consistently for 5 weeks. 45 students have signed up for our hangout.
At the school, two other programs are on at the same time as our hangout. The school said we are not allowed to invite students who have joined other programs.
We are praying that either other programs are cancelled or the school staff members will change the schedule after watching our ministry, so that all 100 students can hear the gospel.
We are praying like this.
1. Bind the works of Satan
- evil spirits that make students to judge our team, closing students' heart, telling them we do not understand their pain
- many churches have already visited the school and done many programs.. so evil spirits making students to think our hangout is one of those programs, giving them the heart of pride
- due to the brain washed education of North Korea worshiping Kim Il Sung, making students to think that the gospel is one of the educations to just gain knowledge
- man centered ideology that has taken deep root in students' hearts, self-reliance ideology.. making students not to understand the spiritual things.
- since students were young, they were educated to criticise others, due to this education system, making students to criticise the gospel while their listening
- because they are from the communist society, making them to not to believe in God
- more than 3000 vocabularies are different, due to this, stopping students from understanding the word, or giving them misunderstandings.
2. Message
- Through the message that is like a sharpened sword, the students' wrong ideology and values to be broken and for their spiritual eyes to pen
- For them to listen to the gospel of the cross with tears, for them to understand the bible message and Jesus in their heart
- From the beginning until the end of the message time, for students to concentrate and not be distracted, for them to sink into the message, so that none of the criticism or doubt will interfere
- Guilt, anxiety, painful memories to be healed through Jesus. Physical illness from escaping North Korea to be healed as well
3. for the hearts of school staff members
- As we share the gospel and help students to accept Jesus, for staff members not to misunderstand
- For them not to stop our message time nor interfere
- For Christian staff members to receive new grace from our message and receive a shock from the gospel
- through this, more doors/ regular visits of sharing the gospel to be opened
4. The door of personal training to be opened to find disciples
- Within 5 weeks, souls to respond to the message
- for all our team members to receive answer of unborn member. After 5 weeks of our ministry, the door of personal training to pen.
- For students to be connected to church, receive discipleship training, grow in faith, for them to become disciples and workers who will save their community with the gospel
After I was appointed to lead mission department, personally experienced many Satan's attacks. But Minister TJay asked us to focus on soul salvation in those times by knowing it is Satan's attack. I was able to overcome with the word and obeyed.
When I did that, I was able to invite newcomers for several weeks and some of them have settled into the church.
This is the first organisation after the mission department has been set up. It is our first time to meet people who have escaped from North Korea. Our hearts are trembling and fearful but our desperate desire to save them is leading us to pray more and seek for wisdom. After tomorrow' mini conference, I will send you more feedback.
Thank you so much for your prayer.
