What Satan has done to us humans 사탄이 인간에게 한 짓

“[What Satan put into the heads of our remote ancestors] was the idea //that they could ‘be like gods’

—could set up /on their own /as if they had created themselves

—be their own masters

—invent some sort of happiness /for themselves /outside God, apart from God. 

사탄이 우리의 먼 조상의 머릿속에 집어넣은 그것은 하나님처럼 될 수 있다는 생각이다;

마치 자기들이 자신을 창조한 것처럼 그들 스스로 설정제정 하고 자신의 주인이 되며

하나님을 떠나 하나님 밖에서 자신들을 위한 어떤 행복을 창조할 수 있다는 생각이다

And out of that hopeless attempt has come nearly all //that we call human history

—money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery

—the long terrible story of man /trying to find something other than God //which will make him happy. 

결과적으로 우리가 인간역사라고 부르는 거의 모든 일들이 그런 절망적인 시도에서 나왔다;

 - 돈, 가난, 야망, 전쟁, 성매매, 계층, 제국, 노예 등등

- 하나님 없이 인간을 행복하게 할 어떤 것들을 발견하려고 시도하는 길고 처참한 인간의 이야기

[The reason //why it can never succeed] is this. God made us: invented us /as a man invents an engine. 

A car is made to run on petrol, and it would not run /properly on anything else. 

Now God designed the human machine /to run on Himself. 

He Himself is the fuel () our spirits were designed to burn, or the food () our spirits were designed to feed on. 

그것이 성공하지 못하는 이유는 이것이다 ;

하나님께서 우리를 창조하신 것, (반대로 인간이 신을 창조하고 정의할 수 없다)

인간이 엔진을 발명하는 것처럼 하나님께서 우리를 발명하신 것. (엔진이 인간을 발명할 수 없다)

자동차가 기름으로 작동하게 만들어졌고 그건 다른 어떤 걸로는 정상적으로 작동할 수 없다 (물로는 안된다)

하나님께서 인간기계를 그분 자신으로 작동되게 고안하셨기에 (다른 종교는 인간이 신을 고안한 결과다)

그분 자신께서 우리의 영혼들이 타오르게 고안된 연료이고 우리의 영혼들이 먹게끔 고안된 음식이다 

There is no other. 

That is why it is just no good [asking God to make us happy /in our own way /without bothering about religion].

달리 딴 것은 없다

이것이 우리가 기독교를 무시하고 우리 자신의 방법으로 우리를 행복하게 만드시라고 하나님께 요구하는 게 나쁜 이유다

God cannot give us a happiness and peace /apart from Himself, because it is not there. 

There is no such thing.”

하나님께서 우리에게 하나님을 떠나서 행복과 평화를 주실 수 없는 건 그런게 거기에 없기 때문이다

그런 일들은 존재하지 않는다
