진성에는 틀림없이 감응이 있을 것이고,
근면하면 만사가 이루어질 것이다.

                            
真誠必有應, 精勤萬事成.
(진성필유응,정근만사성)

Be sincere, and your prayer will be
answered, be diligent, and anything
can be accomplished.

근면으로 서투름을 보충할지언정
총명함을 믿고 게으르지 마라. 

                                 
寧以勤勉補笨拙, 勿仗聰明而懈怠.
(영이근면보분졸,물장총명이해태)

[*笨拙: 서툴다./우둔하다. 굼뜨다.]


Do not slack off because you are smart
enough; always compensate for a lack
of intelligence with diligence.

자신에게 엄격하면 손해봄이 없고,
남에게 관대하면 이로움이 많을 것이다.

                           
嚴以律己不虧損, 寬以待人受益多.
(엄이율기불휴손 관이대인수익다)


One will not suffer any loss by being
disiplined with oneself, one has much to
gain by being forgiving towards others.
