5. 세계 곳곳에 새로운 문화혁명의 불을 붙이자

레버런 문과 통일운동은 하나님과 인류를 위한 생사를 건 중대한 사명에 속하는 것입니다. 그러나 이 사명은 통일운동의 독점물은 아닙니다. 이 운동의 회원들은 모든 양심적이고 이상을 가진 사람들과 함께 새로운 문화적 혁명의 대열에서 일하고 싶어합니다.

자유세계 사람들, 특히 크리스천과 모든 종교인들은 통일운동의 위대한 친구가 되어야 합니다. 비참하게도 이들은 공산주의자들의 전략에 대해 무지하였고 친구와 적을 구별할 줄 몰랐습니다. 결과적으로 그들은 종종 그들의 진정한 친구를 공격했고 파괴해 왔습니다.

그러나 최근의 상황은 변해 가고 있습니다. 사람들은 공산주의의 불의와 위협에 대해 분개하게 되었습니다. 최근의 사건들은 공산주의자들이 처음부터 사용해 왔던 전략과 전술들을 명백히 폭로하고 있습니다.

자유세계와 종교의 미래에 관해 더욱더 우려를 갖게 된 양심적인 학자들·직업인·종교지도자들이 통일주의의 보편적 깃발 아래 모이기 시작했습니다. 또한 사람들은 도덕적 퇴폐와 싸우는 그 힘과 공산주의에 대항하는 그 잠재력 때문에 통일이념에 매력을 갖게 되었습니다.

오늘날 여러분과 본인은 공통의 운명 앞에 함께 서 있습니다. 우리 서로 공산주의로부터 학문세계를 보호하고 역사가 이 시대 우리에게 부과한 과제를 완수하기 위해 함께 일합시다. 본인과 통일운동 회원들은 이 매우 힘든 과제에 부딪히기로 결심했습니다. 오늘부터 전 세계의 학자들은 각 분야에서 지도력을 갖기 위해 합류합시다.

공산주의자 측에서는 마르크스주의 학자들이 학생들과 캠퍼스 활동들을 지도함으로써 지도력을 행사하고 있습니다. 노동계급 및 소수민족의 조직자들과 제휴하여 그들은 궁극적으로는 인간의 진정한 행복을 파괴하게 될 엄청난 이념적 사회적 전선을 구축하였습니다. 따라서 우리는 교수와 학생들의 책임 있는 협력을 통해 조직적이고 사회적인 기반을 시급히 확립해야만 합니다.

본인은 이 악한 세계에서 정의를 옹호하는 사람이 어떤 실질적 기반을 갖지 못한다면 쉽게 제거될 수 있다는 것을 뼛속 깊이 깨달았습니다. 따라서 학자와 학생들의 연합전선과 함께 크리스천과 모든 종교의 신앙자들은 함께 일해야 합니다.

이런 역사상 가장 중요한 시대에 살고 있는 우리는 생과 사의 갈림길에 서 있습니다. 본인은 여러분이 대망을 가진 의로운 학자와 교육자들로서 세계에 실질적이고 건설적인 변화를 이룰 것을 열망하고 있습니다. 우리 함께 삶의 모든 영역을 포용하는 통일된 전선에서 일합시다.

그리고 역사의 정점에 서서 세계 곳곳에 새로운 문화혁명의 불을 붙입시다. 하나님의 충만한 은사가 여러분의 나라와 여러분의 가정과 여러분 모두에게 함께하기를 바랍니다. 하나님이 이 제12차 국제과학통일회의 총회에서 여러분의 토론을 인도해 주시기를 기원합니다. 대단히 감사합니다.

第9章 統一主義は新しい文化革命の基礎

5. 世界の各地に新文化革命の火を燃やそう
 
レバレンド・ムーンと統一運動は、神様と人類のための生死をかけた重大な使命を担っています。しかし、この使命は、統一運動の独占物ではありません。この運動の会員たちは、良心的で理想を抱いたすべての人々と共に、新しい文化革命の隊列で働くことを願っています。

自由世界の人々、特にキリスト教徒をはじめとした宗教者たちはみな、統一運動の偉大な友とならなければなりません。悲惨にも彼らは、共産主義者たちの戦略に対して無知であり、友と敵とを区別することができませんでした。結果的に彼らは、たびたび自分の真の友を攻撃し、破壊してきました。
 
しかし、最近の状況は変わりつつあります。人々は共産主義の不義と威嚇に対し、憤慨するようになりました。最近の事件は、共産主義者たちが初めから使ってきた戦略と戦術を明確に暴露しています。

自由世界と宗教の未来に関して、より一層憂慮するようになった良心的な学者、経済人、宗教指導者が、統一主義の普遍的な旗のもとに集まり始めました。また人々は、道徳的退廃と闘うその力と共産主義に対抗するその潜在力のゆえに、統一理念に魅力を感じるようになりました。
 
今日、皆様は、私と共同の運命に直面しています。共産主義から学問世界を保護し、歴史がこの時代の私たちに与えた課題を成し遂げるために共に働きましょう。私と統一運動の会員たちは、この実に困難な課題にぶつかることを決意しました。全世界の学者たちは、きょうから各分野で指導力をもつために合流しましょう。

共産主義者側では、マルクス主義の学者たちが、学生とキャンパス活動を指導することによって指導力を行使しています。彼らは労働階級および少数民族の組織者たちと提携し、究極的には人間の真の幸福を破壊することになる途方もない理念的、社会的戦線を構築しました。したがって私たちは、教授と学生の責任ある協力を通し、組織的で社会的な基盤を、一刻も早く確立しなければなりません。
 
私は、この悪の世界では、正義を擁護する人が、何らかの実質的基盤をもてなければ簡単に除去されることを骨身にしみて悟らされました。したがって、学者と学生の連合戦線とともに、キリスト教徒をはじめとしたすべての宗教の信仰者たちは、共に働かなければなりません。
 
このような、歴史で最も重要な時代に生きている私たちは、生死の岐路に立たされています。私は、皆様が大志を抱いた義の学者、教育者として、世界に実質的で建設的な変化を起こすことを熱望しています。人生のすべての領域を包容する、統一された戦線で共に働きましょう。そして、歴史の頂点に立って、世界の各地に新文化革命の火を燃やしましょう。
 
神様のあふれんばかりの恩賜が皆様の国と皆様の御家庭、そして皆様と共にあることを願います。神様がこの第十二回「科学の統一に関する国際会議」総会における皆様の討論を、お導きくださることをお祈りします。ありがとうございました。

5. Lighting the fire of a worldwide cultural revolution

Rev. Moon and the Unification movement are involved in a life-on-death mission for the sake of God and humanity. However, this mission is not the monopoly of the Unification movement. The members of this movement desire to work with all people of conscience and ideals in the new cultural revolution.

The people of the free world, especially Christians and all religious people, ought to be the greatest friends of the Unification movement. Tragically, these people have all too often been ignorant of the communist strategy and unable to distinguish friend from foe. As a result they frequently have attacked and subverted their true friends.

Lately, however, the situation has been changing. People are becoming indignant about the threats and injustices of communism. Recent events clearly expose the strategy and tactics communists have used ever since their beginnings.

Conscientious scholars, professionals and religious leaders are beginning to join under the general banner of Unificationism as they become more and more concerned about the future of religion and the free world. Also, people are attracted to the Unification Thought system because of its power to combat moral decadence and its very potent counterproposal to communism.

Today you and I stand together confronting a common destiny. Let us work with each other to defend the academic world from communism and fulfill the task that history presses upon us at this time. My Unificationist family members and I are determined to meet this challenge. From this day forward, let scholars throughout the world join together to take leadership in every field.

On the communist side, Marxist scholars assume leadership roles to manipulate students and campus activities. In concert with labor and minority organizers they create a formidable ideological and social front, which works ultimately to the detriment of real human happiness.

Thus, we are urgently compelled to establish a systematic social foundation through the responsible cooperation of professors and students. To my bones I have come to realize that a person who advocates righteousness in this evil world can be eliminated easily if he has no substantial foundation. Thus, a unified front of scholars and students must work together with Christians and all other religious believers.

Living at this most important time in history, we stand on the boundary of life and death. I cannot but fervently desire that you, as ambitious and righteous scholars and educators, will make substantial, constructive changes in the world. Let us work together in a unified front embracing all areas of life! Standing at the pinnacle of history, let us ignite the new cultural revolution reaching the four corners of the earth!

May God’s abundant blessing be with your countries, your families and every one of you. May God guide your discussions in this twelfth ICUS meeting. Thank you very much.
