1. 우주적 원리의 근원은 하나님

지난해 우리는 과학자대회 외에도 매우 특별한 두 가지의 회의에 참여했습니다. 그것은 바로 세계평화종교연합과 세계평화연합입니다. 이 두 기구는 새로운 세계질서의 구축을 위해서 창설된 것입니다. 특히 세계평화종교연합은 세계평화의 건설을 목적으로 세계의 종교를 하나로 만드는 데 공헌하게 되었습니다. 최근 걸프전에서 여러분은 세계가 어떻게 종교전쟁에 빠지게 되는가를 목격하였습니다. 또한 종교로 인한 지구의 재난은 앞으로도 계속 일어날 것입니다.

지금까지 많은 정치인들은 자기들의 목적을 위하여 종교적 적대감을 이용해 왔습니다. 그로 인하여 종교들은 무력해지고 혼란스러웠습니다. 그리고 종교인들은 세계평화를 위한 책임을 분명하게 깨닫지 못하고 있다는 것입니다. 이제 세계평화종교연합을 통하여 전 세계에서 온 종교지도자들은 서로 화해하게 될 것이고 평화를 위한 지도자들이 될 것입니다.

모든 문화에서 종교는 중심핵이어야 하고 공의의 표준이어야 합니다. 각 종교들은 자기 자신의 전통을 끊임없이 지켜 온 것에 대해서 긍지를 가지고 있습니다. 각자는 자신의 종교를 다른 모든 종교보다도 우수한 종교라고 생각합니다. 그러나 종교적인 가르침은 우주적인 요소를 가지고 있을 뿐만 아니라 그 가르침은 하나님으로부터 나왔습니다. 한 분이신 하나님은 모든 종교의 하나님입니다. 그러므로 종교는 스스로를 정화시켜야 하고 우주적인 원리로서 승화시켜야 합니다. 종교의 중심적 가치는 하나님의 참사랑입니다.

참사랑은 ‘다른 사람을 위하여 살라!’라는 가르침으로 설명될 수 있습니다. 개인은 가정을 위해서 살고, 가정은 사회를 위해서 살고, 사회는 국가를 위해서 살고, 국가는 세계를 위해서 사는 것입니다. 마찬가지로 우리 종교는 다른 종교를 위해서 살아야 한다는 것입니다. 이와 같은 원리가 진리입니다.

우주적 원리의 근원은 하나님이십니다. 우주의 창조에서 하나님은 자신의 창조물을 위하여 자기 자신 전체를 투입하셨습니다. 또한 역사를 통해서 제멋대로 사는 타락한 인류를 구원하시기 위하여 끊임없이 희생하여 오신 분이 바로 하나님이십니다. 하나님의 뜻을 안 예언자와 성인 그리고 철인들은 자신의 삶 속에서 하나님의 원리를 따랐습니다.

그리고 자신들이 진리를 지키는 것으로 만족하지 않고 다른 사람들을 가르치기 위해서 희생의 길을 걸었습니다. 모세, 공자, 석가모니, 마호메트, 소크라테스 그리고 예수님은 모두 고난을 받았으며 사람들을 가르치는 데 있어서도 박해를 받았던 성인들이었습니다. 인류를 일깨우고 해방시키기 위해서 자신들의 삶을 희생했습니다.

세계평화연합은 세계평화를 위한 정치인들과 국가 기관들의 협력기구입니다. 오늘의 세계는 국가주의로써는 지탱할 수 없습니다. 현재 동유럽에서 타오르고 있는 민족 분규는 민족주의의 파괴적인 특성을 입증하고 있습니다. 민족적 긍지나 자기 결정은 오직 세계공동체에 이바지하는 가운데서 얻어질 때 옳고 선한 것입니다. 내 나라만을 우선으로 하고 다른 나라에 대한 증오를 증폭시키는 국가주의는 남을 위해서 사는 우주 원리에 상반되는 것입니다. 우주의 원리에 배치되는 모든 주의는 소멸하게 될 것입니다.

지금 여러 나라들은 유럽공동체와 같은 다국적 연합체에 가입하려는 경향을 보이고 있습니다. 이러한 경향은 앞으로 더욱 심화될 것입니다. 그러므로 앞으로 모든 국가들은 지역공동체로 연합할 것입니다. 즉 유럽국가연합, 동아시아공동체, 이슬람공동체, 아프리카공동체, 남북미공동체 등으로 말입니다.

第16章 絶対価値と新しい世界秩序

1. 宇宙の原理の根源は神様

昨年私たちは、科学者大会以外にも、非常に特別な二つの会議に参加しました。それは、正に「世界平和宗教連合」と「世界平和連合」です。この二つの機構は、新しい世界秩序の構築のために創設されたものです。特に「世界平和宗教連合」は、世界平和の建設を目的として、世界の宗教を一つにすることに貢献するようになりました。最近の湾岸戦争で、皆様は、世界がどのように宗教戦争に陥るのかを目撃しました。また、宗教による地球の災難は、今後も起き続けるでしょう。
 
これまで多くの政治家たちは、自らの目的のために宗教間の対立を利用してきました。それにより、宗教は無力化し、混乱するようになりました。また、宗教者たちは、世界平和のための責任を明確に悟ることができずにいます。今後、「世界平和宗教連合」を通して、全世界から来た宗教指導者たちは、互いに和解するようになり、平和のための指導者となるでしょう。
 
すべての文化において、宗教は中心核でなければならず、公義の標準でなければなりません。各宗教は、自らの伝統を絶え間なく守り続けてきたことに対して、誇りをもっています。それぞれが、自分の宗教は他のあらゆる宗教よりも優秀な宗教であると考えているのです。しかし、宗教的な教えは、宇宙的な要素をもっているだけでなく、それ自体は神様から出てきたものです。お一人であられる神様は、すべての宗教の神様です。したがって、宗教は自らを浄化させなければならず、宇宙的な原理として昇華させなければなりません。宗教の中心的価値は、神様の真の愛です。真の愛は「人のために生きなさい」という教えによって説明することができます。個人は家庭のために生き、家庭は社会のために生き、社会は国家のために生き、国家は世界のために生きるのです。同様に、各宗教は他の宗教のために生きなければなりません。このような原理が真理なのです。
 
宇宙的原理の根源は神様であられます。宇宙を創造されるとき、神様は御自身の創造物のために、御自身のすべてを投入されました。また歴史を通して、自分勝手に生きる堕落した人類を救うために、絶えず犠牲になってこられたお方が、正に神様なのです。神様のみ旨を知った預言者と聖人、そして賢人は、自らの人生の中で神様の願いに従いました。
 
そして、自分たちが真理を守ることでは満足せず、他の人々を指導するために犠牲の道を歩みました。モーセ、孔子、釈迦、ムハンマド、ソクラテス、そしてイエス様などは、苦難を受け、人々を指導する際にも迫害を受けた聖人たちでした。人類を呼び覚まし、解放させるために、自らの人生を犠牲にしました。
 
「世界平和連合」は、世界平和のための政治家と国家機関の協力機構です。今日の世界は、国家主義では支えることができません。現在、東ヨーロッパで燃え上がっている民族の紛争は、民族主義の破壊的な特性を立証しています。民族的誇りや民族自決というのは、ただ世界共同体に貢献する中で得られるときにのみ、正しく善のものとなるのです。自国のみを優先し、他国に対する憎しみを増幅させる覇権主義は、ために生きるという宇宙の原理に相反するものです。宇宙の原理に反する主義はすべて、消滅するようになるのです。
 
今、数々の国が、ヨーロッパ共同体のような多国籍連合体に加入しようとする傾向を見せています。このような傾向は、今後、より一層深化するでしょう。したがって、今後すべての国家は、地域共同体として連合するでしょう。すなわち、ヨーロッパ国家連合、東アジア共同体、イスラム共同体、アフリカ共同体、南北米共同体などです。

1. God is the origin of the principle of the universe

Last year, in addition to the International Conference on the Unity of the Sciences (ICUS), we had two very special conferences: they were for the Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace (IRFWP) and the Federation for World Peace (FWP). These two organizations were inaugurated to establish a new order for the world. The Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace, in particular, will devote itself to bringing unity among the world’s religions for the purpose of establishing world peace.

In the recent Gulf War we witnessed how the world came to be involved in a religious war. Such global disasters caused by religious differences will continue taking place in the future as well.

Up until the present, many politicians have exploited religious conflicts for their own selfish purposes. Faiths have been powerless and confused, not clearly recognizing their responsibility in relation to world peace. Now, through the IRFWP, leaders of the world’s religions will cooperate harmoniously and become leaders for world peace.

Religion must be the conscience of every culture, setting the standard of public righteousness. Each religion takes pride in upholding its own traditions without ceasing. Every person believes their own religion to be better than all other religions. However, religious teachings not only have universal factors, but also they all stem from God. After all, the one God is the God of all religions.

Therefore, religions need to emphasize their universal principles and, by doing so, purify and elevate themselves. The central value in each religion is God’s true love, which can be described by the teaching, “Live for the sake of others.” According to this teaching, the individual lives for the sake of the family, the family lives for the sake of the community, the community lives for the sake of the nation, the nation lives for the sake of the world, and my religion lives for the sake of other religions. This principle is so very true.

The source of the universal principle is God. In creating the universe, God invested Himself totally for the sake of His creation. Throughout history, it is God who has been continually sacrificing Himself in order to save fallen human beings, who have been living just as they pleased. The prophets, saints and sages who knew God’s Will have followed His principles in their own lives.

Not content to keep the truth to themselves, they walked the way of sacrifice in order to teach others. Moses, Confucius, Buddha, Muhammad, Socrates and Jesus are saints who suffered hardships and were persecuted, even as they taught many other human beings. They sacrificed themselves in order to enlighten and liberate humanity.

The Federation for World Peace is a cooperative federation of politicians and governmental organizations. Today’s world cannot be maintained by nationalism. The current flare-up of ethnic violence in Eastern Europe only demonstrates nationalism’s destructive nature.

National pride and self- determination are good and right only when they are dedicated to serving the world community. Patriotism that places one’s own nation first, while promoting enmity toward other nations, goes against the universal principle of living for the sake of others. All such “isms” that go against the universal principle are destined to decline.

Now we are seeing a trend in which nations are joining to form multinational associations, such as the European Economic Community. This trend will intensify in the coming years. Throughout the world, nations will unite in regional communities, such as the European Union, the East Asian community, the community of Islam, the community of African nations and the community of North and South America.
