2. 선행되어야 할 종교 간의 조화와 통일

정치인들이 국가 이기주의를 초월하려면 다른 나라들과 함께할 수 있는 통일된 가치관이 있어야 합니다. 그렇다면 유럽의 국가를 연합할 수 있는 것은 무엇입니까? 그것은 경제정책만으로는 불충분합니다. 아직도 그곳에는 산업국가와 농경국가들 사이에 많은 갈등이 있습니다. 그리고 유럽국가연합에 있어서 사회정책은 또 하나의 논쟁거리입니다. 만일 우리가 유럽 통합의 요소를 찾는다면 그것은 바로 기독교문화권입니다.

중동 사람들이나 동양 사람들과 비교할 때, 유럽 사람들은 많은 것을 공유하고 있습니다. 즉 공통의 문화, 공통의 사회관습, 그리고 가장 중요한 것은 공통의 논리와 세계관을 공유하고 있다는 것입니다. 이러한 공통적인 유럽 문화의 뿌리는 기독교정신입니다. 기독교문화는 유럽의 지적·사회적·정치적 삶의 기초입니다.

그러나 유럽의 기독교는 그 자체가 깊은 역사적 분열에 의하여 시달리고 있습니다. 북아일랜드와 유고슬라비아의 분쟁에서 보듯이 우리는 그들의 갈등이 개신교와 천주교 그리고 희랍정교회들 사이에 풀리지 않는 종교적 분쟁에 의한 것임을 깨달을 수 있습니다. 그러므로 종교의 조화와 통일은 정치적 사회적 평화와 통일보다 선행되어야 할 필요성이 있는 것입니다.

새로운 세계질서는 국가공동체들로 이루어질 것이고, 각 공동체는 공통의 종교문화에 의해서 묶어진 기대 위에서 경제와 정치적 원만한 관계를 통해 결합될 것입니다. 본인은 이러한 역사의 흐름을 수십년 전부터 예견했습니다. 이것이 40여 년이 넘도록 많은 희생을 무릅쓰고 종교 간의 대화와 화합을 위한 활동을 증진시켜 온 이유입니다.

새로운 세계질서가 실현되기 위해서는 종교 간의 대립과 전쟁을 방지해야 됩니다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 본인은 모든 종교를 품을 수 있는 기반을 닦기 위한 수고를 아끼지 않았습니다. 본인은 본인의 성직을 수행하기 전, 영계에 있는 예수님과 석가모니와 공자님, 그리고 마호메트 앞에서 본인에게 계시된 원리를 제시했었습니다. 그들은 나의 원리가 옳다고 증거했습니다. 뜻있는 종교지도자들은 세계평화를 위하여 모든 종교인들이 본래의 가르침을 중심하고 서로 화합하고 일치하는 실천운동으로 나서야 할 것을 깨닫고 있습니다. 하나님을 중심하고 종교를 하나로 통일시키는 것이 하나님께서 본인에게 주신 사명입니다.

세계평화종교연합과 세계평화연합은 각각 마음과 몸의 관계로서 함께 유기적으로 일할 것입니다. 지금까지 타락한 인간은 몸이 개개인의 삶을 지배하도록 허용하여 왔고 자신의 기쁨을 위해서 다른 사람들을 억압하고 배격하는 이기주의적인 인간의 악한 세계를 만들어 왔습니다.

이것이 바로 지상지옥입니다. 그와 반대로 오직 소수의 사람들만이 종교를 추구하며 몸의 유혹을 뿌리치라는 선한 양심의 소리를 따라 나왔습니다. 오직 이 소수의 사람들만이 하나님을 만날 수 있고 지상에서 천국을 마련할 수 있습니다. 마찬가지로 어떤 국가의 정치가도 종교의 소리에 귀 기울이지 않았습니다. 정치적인 아우성 속에서 도덕적이고 영적인 가치의 소리는 희미하게만 들렸을 뿐입니다.

동양뿐만 아니라 서양에서도 정치가들은 하나님 없이 경제적·정치적 정책만으로 번영을 이루려고 노력했습니다. 그러나 그들의 노력은 헛되이 끝나 버렸습니다. 어떤 나라도 하나님의 축복 없이는 번영할 수 없습니다. 하나님께서는 마음과 몸 그리고 종교와 정치가 하나되어서 ‘위하여 살라!’라는 원리를 실천하는 나라만을 축복하십니다.

그러나 하늘의 권능에 대하여 생각하지 않는 눈먼 정치가들은 아직도 지상만을 바라보고 있습니다. 공산주의 지도자들은 70여 년 동안 하나님 없이 부를 실현하려고 노력하여 왔지만 그들의 나라는 이미 파산해 버리고 말았습니다. 마찬가지로 서구 국가들도 경기 후퇴, 범죄, 사회적 부패 등으로 무서운 열병에 걸려 있습니다.

그렇지만 이러한 문제는 종교지도자들이 눈을 뜨고 그것들의 참된 원인을 발견할 때까지는 풀리지 않습니다. 그리고 오직 종교지도자들이 하나님을 중심으로 하고 하나의 평화세계를 건설하는 일에 생각이 일치될 때, 정치가들이 종교의 가르침을 따르게 될 것입니다. 그때에 비로소 마음세계를 대표한 종교와 몸세계를 대신한 정치 및 경제의 협력이 이루어져 세계의 국가들은 자연히 하나가 될 것입니다. 세계평화종교연합과 세계평화연합은 이러한 원리적 기반을 가지고 있기 때문에 유엔 등 많은 국제기구의 부패와 다른 많은 잘못들을 지양하는 데서 출발하여 성공할 것입니다.

2. 先行されるべき宗教間の調和と統一


政治家たちが、国家的利己主義を超越するためには、他の国々と共有できる統一された価値観がなければなりません。それでは、ヨーロッパの国家を連合できるものとは何でしょうか。それは経済政策だけでは不十分です。ヨーロッパには、いまだに産業国家と農耕国家との間に多くの葛藤があります。また、ヨーロッパ国家連合における社会政策は、もう一つの論争の的です。もし私たちがヨーロッパ統合の要素を見つけようとすれば、それは正にキリスト教文化圏にほかなりません。
 
中東人や東洋人と比べるとヨーロッパ人は多くのものを共有しています。すなわち、共通の文化、共通の社会慣習、そして最も重要なのは共通の論理と世界観を共有しているということです。このような共通するヨーロッパ文化の根は、キリスト教精神です。キリスト教文化は、ヨーロッパの知的、社会的、政治的生活の基礎となっています。
 
しかし、ヨーロッパのキリスト教それ自体が、根強い歴史的な分裂によって苦しんでいるのです。北アイルランドやユーゴスラビアなどでの紛争に見るように、私たちは彼らの葛藤がプロテスタントとカトリック、そしてギリシャ正教との間における、解くことのできない宗教的紛争によるものであることを悟ることができます。したがって、宗教の調和と統一は、政治的、社会的な平和と統一よりも先行される必要性があるのです。
 
新しい世界秩序は、国家共同体によって形成され、各共同体は、共通の宗教文化によって結ばれた基台の上で、経済的、政治的に円満な関係を通して結びつくでしょう。私はこのような歴史の流れを、数十年前から予見していました。これが、四十数年間にわたり、多くの犠牲を顧みず、宗教間の対話と和合を図る活動を増進してきた理由です。
 
新しい世界秩序が実現されるためには、宗教間の対立と戦争を防止しなければなりません。このような問題を解決するために、私はすべての宗教を抱く基盤を築こうと、惜しみなく苦労してきました。私は聖職を始める前に、霊界にいるイエス様と釈迦と孔子、そしてムハンマドに、私が啓示を受けた原理を提示しました。彼らは私の原理が正しいことを認めました。志のある宗教指導者たちは、世界平和のために、すべての宗教者たちが本来の教えを中心として互いに和合し、一致する実践運動に立ち上がるべきであることを悟っています。神様を中心として宗教を一つに統一することが、神様が私に下さった使命です。
 
「世界平和宗教連合」と「世界平和連合」は、各々、心と体の関係をもって共に有機的に働くでしょう。堕落した人間は今まで、体が個々人の人生を支配することを許し、自分の喜びのために他人を抑圧し、排撃する、利己主義的な人間による悪の世界をつくってきました。
 
これこそが地上地獄です。それとは反対に、少数の人々だけは宗教を追求し、体の誘惑を振り切りなさいという良心の善の声に従ってきました。ただこの少数の人たちだけが、神様に会うことができ、地上に天国をつくることができるのです。同様に、国家の政治家は、誰も宗教の声に耳を傾けませんでした。政治的な喧騒の中で、道徳的で霊的な価値の声は、かすかに聞こえただけです。
 
東洋だけでなく西洋でも、政治家たちは神様とは関係なしに、経済的、政治的政策だけで繁栄を成し遂げようと努力しました。しかし、彼らの努力は無駄に終わりました。いかなる国も、神様の祝福なしには繁栄することができません。神様は、心と体、そして宗教と政治が一つとなって「ために生きよ！」という原理を実践する国だけを祝福するのです。
 
しかし、天の権能について考えようとしない、見境のない政治家たちは、いまだに地上ばかりを眺めています。共産主義の指導者たちは、七十年以上もの間、神様を抜きにして富を実現しようと努力してきましたが、彼らの国は既に破産してしまいました。同様に、西欧諸国も景気後退、犯罪、社会的腐敗などで、恐ろしい熱病を患っています。
 
しかし、このような問題は、宗教指導者たちが目を覚まし、それらの真の原因を発見するまでは解くことができません。また、宗教指導者たちが、神様を中心とする一つの平和世界の建設を目指して心を一つにしてこそ、政治家たちが宗教の教えに従うようになるのです。そのとき初めて、心の世界を代表した宗教と体の世界を代表した政治および経済の協力が形成され、世界の国々が自然と一つになるでしょう。「世界平和宗教連合」と「世界平和連合」は、このような原理的基盤をもっているので、国連など多くの国際機構の腐敗とその他の多くの誤りを止揚するところから出発し、成功を収めるでしょう。

2. Religious harmony and unity are necessary preconditions for peace

In order that politicians may transcend their own national self-interest, they must share the common values upon which they can unite as nations. Then, what can unite the European nations? Economic policies alone are insufficient. Many conflicts still exist between industrialized nations and agricultural nations. Even in the European Union, social policies are another source of contention. If we are to find a single common factor to unite all nations in Europe, it is that they are based mainly upon the Christian cultural sphere.

When compared with people from the Middle East or Asia, it is evident that Europeans share many things in common: a common culture, common social customs and, most important, a common way of thinking and worldview. The root of this common European culture is the Christian spirit. Christian culture is the foundation for the intellectual, social and political life of Europe.

However, throughout history European Christianity itself has struggled with serious divisions. As can be seen from the strife in Northern Ireland and in Yugoslavia, we can realize that their conflicts stem from unresolved religious struggles among Protestants, Catholics and Orthodox Christians. Therefore, religious harmony and unity are the necessary preconditions for political and social peace and unity.

A future ideal world will consist of communities of nations, with each community bound together by a common religion and culture and united through economic and political relationships. I foresaw this trend many years ago. That is why for more than forty years I have been promoting interreligious activities, pursuing dialogue and harmony, despite the many sacrifices I have had to make.

For an ideal world to be realized in the future, we need to be able to prevent religious war. To solve this problem, I have been laying with painstaking care the foundation that can embrace all religions. Before I began my ministry, I took the Principle that was revealed to me and presented it before Jesus, Buddha, Confucius and the Prophet Muhammad in the spirit world, and they attested that it was true.

Leaders of every religion now recognize that, to realize a world of peace, all religious people must focus on their faith’s universal teachings and take positive steps to generate harmony with each other. It is my God-ordained mission to bring the world into unity under God.

The Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace and the Federation for World Peace will work together as do mind and body. To this day, fallen people have allowed the body to dominate their individual life, creating a world of selfish individuals oppressing others for their own pleasure.

This is hell on earth. Only a few people have followed the voice of conscience, emanating from the mind, which spurs them to pursue religion and to resist the temptations of the body. Only these people can meet God and find heaven on earth. Likewise, few national politicians have listened to the voice of religion. Amid the clamor of politics, the voice of moral and spiritual values has been heard only faintly.

In the West as well as the East, politicians have tried to establish prosperity on economic and political policies without God. Their efforts have been and will be in vain. No nation can prosper without God’s blessing. God blesses those nations practicing faith, morality and the principle of living for the sake of others.

Yet politicians still look only to the earth, blind to Heaven’s influence. Communist leaders tried for seventy years to establish prosperity without God, and now their nations are bankrupt. Likewise the West is plagued by recession, crime and social decay.

However, these problems will not be resolved until religious leaders open their eyes and discover their true cause. When religious leaders unite for the sake of world peace under God, the politicians will obey the teachings of religion.

Then and only then will we be able to solve our social and economic problems. Only then will the nations of the world naturally unite on the path of peace. The Interreligious Federation for World Peace and the Federation for World Peace will succeed where the United Nations and many other organizations have not, because these federations are based on the foundation of the Principle.
