However, he wanted more and without asking permission from his parents, hopped on a freight train and headed for Chicago. He went to work selling drapery fabrics throughout the Midwest as a traveling salesman. He sent the money he earned back home to his parents.
보통 이 경우 로뎀의 모친을 가르킨다면 his domineering mother 또는 the domineering mother 이라고 하지 않나요? a domineering mother. 라고 표현한것 보면 a country가 나라를 말하는것이기 때문에 ,,,조국이란 뜻을 두고 고민할 만 하시네요..앞뒤 문장이나 문맥을 좀 더 살피셔야 할 듯..
