5. 세계평화통일당 창설 제안

내외 귀빈 여러분, 그리고 각국 대표 여러분! 이제 본인은 이 연설의 결론을 대신하면서 이 모든 우리의 구세운동을 효과적으로 추진하기 위하여 세계평화통일연합 기관으로 기능할 세계평화통일당의 창설을 제창하는 바입니다.

오해가 없게 하기 위하여 세계평화통일당의 ‘당’ 자는 ‘집 당(堂)’ 자를 의미하는 것이지 ‘무리 당(黨)’을 의미하지 않음을 천명합니다. 다시 말하면 본인이 말하는 세계평화통일당은 통상적으로 일국의 정권을 쟁취하기 위한 정당의 기능을 의미하는 바가 아니요, 세계평화를 위해서 세계의 각 국가들이 통일된 기반과 노력을 증진시킬 수 있는 연대활동을 강화하는 전당, 곧 집의 뜻을 지니는 것입니다.

남자를 하늘로 표시한다면, 여자는 땅으로 표시합니다. 집은 여성의 생애 무대요, 어머니는 모든 식구들의 사랑을 위한 보금자리의 중심이요, 어머니를 중심한 가정은 국가와 세계를 묶는 단위입니다. ‘당(堂)’이란 말은 어머니를 중심삼고 땅을 높이는 뜻이 있고 가르치자는 뜻이 있습니다. 그래서 이 ‘당’을 사용한 것입니다. 즉 ‘여성을 가르치는 중심의 집’이란 뜻이 됩니다.

그러므로 우리는 세계평화를 구현하기 위해서 각국의 정치지도자·학자·종교인·언론인·교육자·예술문화인·여성지도자·청년지도자들이 전 세계의 여성들을 대표한 어머니들로 하여금 하나님을 중심삼고 사랑으로 마음과 몸이 하나가 되어 가정을 중심한 세계평화의 비전을 제시하는 적극적인 교류와 교육의 기회를 제공할 수 있도록 박차를 가하기를 바랍니다.
 
6. 21세기 평화의 문을 여는 주역이 되자

오늘 저녁 이 자리에 참석해 주신 국내외 각계의 지도자 여러분! 본인의 이와 같은 제의를 흔쾌히 받아 주시고 함께 동참해 주신다면 분명히 20세기를 마감짓는 앞으로 8년 이내에 하나님이 바라시는 평화의 세계는 바로 우리에 의하여 전 인류의 것이 될 것입니다. 오늘 저녁 이 자리에 참석한 우리가 주역이 되는 21세기 평화세계의 문은 열리게 될 것입니다. 이 축전 기간 동안 여러분의 평안과 이후의 모든 하시는 일에 하나님의 축복과 가호가 길이 함께하시기를 빌며 이상으로 본인의 만찬사를 마치는 바입니다. 감사합니다.

第3章 平和世界建設の主役になろう

5. 「世界平和統一堂」創設の提案

内外の貴賓の皆様、そして各国代表の皆様。これから私は、この演説の結論に代えて、私たちのこれらのすべての救世運動を効果的に推進するために、「世界平和統一連合」の機関として「世界平和統一堂」の創設を提唱する次第です。

誤解がないようにするために、「世界平和統一堂」の「堂」の字は、「家」を意味する「堂」であって、「群れ」を意味する「党」ではないことを明らかにしておきたいと思います。言い換えれば、私の言う「世界平和統一堂」は、通常の一国の政権を勝ち取るための政党の機能を意味するのではなく、世界平和のために世界が統一された基盤と努力を増進させる連帯活動を強化する殿堂、すなわち「家」の意味をもっているのです。

男性を「天」と表すなら、女性を「地」と表します。家は女性の生涯の舞台であり、母はすべての家族の愛のための家の中心であり、母を中心とした家庭は国家と世界を結ぶ単位です。「堂」という言葉は、母を中心として地を高める意味があり、「教育する」という意味があります。それでこの「堂」を使ったのです。すなわち、母を中心として「女性を教育する家」という意味になります。

ですから私たちは、世界の平和を具現するために、各国の政治指導者、学者、宗教人、言論人、教育者、芸術文化人、女性指導者、青年指導者たちが、全世界の女性を代表する母たちに、神様を中心とする愛によって心と体が一つになり、家庭を中心とした世界平和のビジョンを提示し、積極的な交流と教育の機会を提供できるように拍車を掛けてくださるよう願います。

6. 二十一世紀の平和の扉を開く主役になろう

今夜、この場に参席してくださった国内外の各界指導者の皆様。私のこのような提議を快く受け入れてくださり、共に同参(一緒に参加すること)してくださるならば、必ずや二十世紀を締めくくるこの八年のうちに、神様が望まれる平和世界は正に私たちによって全人類のものとなるでしょう。今夜、この場に参加した私たちが主役となる二十一世紀の平和世界の扉が開かれるでしょう。

この祝典の期間中、皆様の無事と、今後皆様が行うすべてに神様の祝福と加護が共にあることを祈りながら、以上で私の晩餐の辞を終えさせていただきます。ありがとうございました。

5. A proposal to establish the House of Unification for World Peace

This evening, I would like to propose that we establish “The House of Unification for World Peace.” I see it as an organization dedicated to the peaceful unity of the world that will enable us to carry out all of our activities for world salvation more effectively.
 
To avoid any possible misunderstanding, particularly regarding the title of this organization as given in the Korean language, let me state clearly that I am not proposing to create a political party. The House of Unification for World Peace that I propose is not a political party. It will not have the function of political parties to seek executive or legislative governing power in a given country. It is, rather, a “house,” a structure to reinforce the concerted actions of the worlds countries, foster a unified foundation and support a common effort for world peace.
 
If we say that heaven symbolizes man, then earth symbolizes woman. A house is the stage where a woman conducts her life. It is filled with love for all the members of the family, centered on the mother. The family, with the mother at its center, is the basic unit of the nation and the world. I use the word “house” in the title of the organization I am proposing, because this word contains the meaning of “exalting the earth, centering on the mother.” It also signifies “to teach.” The word “house” in this tide, therefore, signifies a center for the education of women.
 
Through this organization, we can provide new impetus to our work, giving opportunities to people of all countries and all walks of life for meaningful exchanges and education on a God-centered vision for world peace. Political leaders, scholars, religious leaders, journalists and educators, as well as leaders of women and youth, all are needed to make this work successful. This vision of world peace is centered on those families whose mothers accomplish mind-body unity through love. They are representatives of all women of the world.
 
6. Let us become central figures for peace in the 21 st century

If you will embrace my proposal and join me in this task, then within the remaining eight years of the twentieth century our efforts are certain to bring the world of peace, the object of God’s desire, to all of humanity. We who are gathered here this evening will be the leaders in opening the gates to a peaceful world for the coming twenty-first century.
 
I pray you may have a pleasant visit during the time of the festival and that God will bestow boundless blessings and protection upon your work.
