• Graduation with a degree in architecture from a recognized university or certification of equivalency from the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB).

Occupational Certification

  • Certification as a professional architect in Canada.

Experience

- Significant and recent experience as a conservation and contemporary project architect directing all phases (research, design development, design, contract documents, tendering, scheduling, budgeting and site supervision) of substantial building projects.

- Experience in participating in multi-disciplined teams engaged in the design of projects.

- Experience in dealing with clients in the private or public sectors.

- Experience in defining user requirements for projects.

Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

Candidates must meet all of the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. A candidate may be appointed to a position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

• ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
  Education:
  - Post graduate training in architectural conservation.
  Experience:
  - Active involvement in organizations that promote heritage conservation such as, Heritage Canada, International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Association for Preservation Technology (APT), Canadian Association of Professional Heritage Consultants (CAPHC), etc.
• CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  - Reliability security clearance.
  - Must be willing to travel as required/occasionally abroad.
  - Possession of a vaild provincial driver’s license OR personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license, within the limits of Treasury Board Policy.
  - Must be able to climb ladders and construction staging/scaffolding.

Successful candidate(s) must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment throughout their employment.
