ORIENTATION PROGRAM TO WELCOME OUR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Every term, CQUniversity organises an orientation program to assist new students in preparing for their study journey and life in a new country.
With this goal in mind, the Students Services team conducted a comprehensive program for the Term 2, 2011 cohort. The programs included social events, information sessions, morning teas and tours of the campus. These activities gave students many opportunities to meet other students and staff, helping them make those vital first connections.
All activities were very well attended, with students being informed about their rights and responsibilities, setting up bank accounts, student visa conditions, accommodation, safety, Australian culture and many other topics relevant to the students’ wellbeing in their new environment.

CQUniversity PRAISED IN PARLIAMENT FOR RESPONDING TO SKILLS DEMAND
CQUniversity has been praised in Federal Parliament for working with its communities to understand and respond to regional skills demands.
MP Kirsten Livermore commended the University's efforts and results during the June Parliamentary sittings.
The University's push to become 'dual sector' was especially encouraged to provide greater opportunities within a region with lower than average participation in tertiary education.
Member for Capricornia Kirsten Livermore
Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman said it is always gratifying to see the University's hard work and persistence recognised in Parliament by local MPs like Kirsten Livermore, with whom the University enjoys a very productive working relationship.
"We are proud of the remarkable achievements this University has made in such a short period of time, and it's great to see that our Parliamentarians are as proud of our efforts as we are," Professor Bowman said.
Member for Capricornia Ms Livermore noted the University's rapid enrolment growth and large number of new courses - including law, medical imaging, sonography, financial planning, engineering management and paramedic training, with planning underway for further courses in allied health and oral health.

The School of Graduate Studies offers students the opportunity to study the Doctor of Professional Studies. This program provides a high level of knowledge and skills development for professionals dealing with the demands of the digital economy that normally would not be available to candidates in the workplace at the stage in their career trajectory.
Based in a problem-solving perspective, courses are aimed at developing insights into the challenges of social, economic and political change that are relevant to all kinds of professional work.
This 3 year full-time (6 years part-time) program is available in CQUniversity Sydney and both international and Australian students are welcome to apply.
