토기장이 하나님(렘18:1-12)

렘18:1

공주야!

인간은 흙으로 지어졌다. 흙만큼 토기장이의 의지를 따라 자유자재로 만들 수

있는 재료가 또 있을까 싶다. 하나님은 이제 닥칠 백성의 운명을 토기장이

입장에서 말씀하신다. 하지만 토기장이와 흙의 관계와 하나님과 유다의 관계에서

다른 점이 있다. 그것은 유다의 반응이다.

It's a princess!
Humans are built of soil. I wonder if there is another material that can be made

as freely as soil according to the will of the earthenware master. God talks about

the fate of the people that will come now from the perspective of an earthenware

maker. However, there is a difference between the earthenware artist-soil

relationship and the God-Yuda relationship. It is Judas's reaction.

선지자에게 토기장이를 찾아가게 하신다. 거기서 선지자는 토기장이가 자기 손에서

터진 흙으로 자기 의견에 좋은 대로 그릇을 만드는 것을 본다. 선지자도 토기장이

하나님께서 빚은 (짓다, 1:5)사람이다. 하나님은 맘에 드는 그릇이 나올 때까지 정교

하고도 능숙한 기술로 물레를 돌리고, 때로는 분노를 삭이고 좌절감도 극복하면서

인내를 가지고 작업에 임하신다.

Let the prophet find the potter. There, the prophet sees the potter making a bowl

out of the soil that has burst from his hand, which is good for his opinion. The prophet

is also a man (built by God, 1:5), an earthenware maker. God turns the wheel with

sophisticated and skillful techniques until a vessel he likes comes out, and

sometimes works with patience while quenching anger and overcoming frustration

원하는 그릇이 나오지 않았다고 점토를 버리는 토기장이가 없듯이, 하나님은 반역에도

불구하고 인내하면서 그 흙을 가지고 새롭게 만드실 것이다. 오늘 우리 자신과 교회를

새롭게 만드실 그분 손에 진흙인 우리를 맡겨드리자. 진흙 스스로 토기를 만들 수 없는

걸 인정하고 악에서 돌이켜 토기장이 하나님 손에 맡기면 주께서도 뜻을 돌이킬 것이다.

Just as there is no potter who throws away clay just because the bowl he wants has

not come out, God will persevere in spite of the rebellion and rebuild it with the soil.

Let us leave the mud in the hands of him who will rebuild ourselves and the church

today. If the clay admits that it cannot make earthenware on its own, turns from evil

and leaves it in God's hands, the Lord will return his will.

진흙과 달리 사람에게는 인격이 있기 때문에 토기장이는 우리의 인격적인 반응을 보면서

주권을 행사하신다. 토기장이 하나님은 뽑고 피하고 멸할 수도 있고 건설하고, 심을 수도

있지만, 결코 충동적이고 자의적으로 그 주권을 행사하지 않는다. 우리를 자유의지를 가진

인격적인 파트너로 창조하셨기 때문이다.

Unlike mud, people have a personality, so earthenware makers exercise their sovereignty

by looking at our personal reactions. God the potter can pick, avoid, destroy, build, and

plant, but he never impulsively and arbitrarily exercises his sovereignty. Because you

created us as personal partners with free will

따라서 우리의 순종 여부에 따라 내리기로 한 재앙을 거둘 수도 있고 베풀기로 한 복을

취소할 수도 있다. 유다가 스스로 자신들이 터진 흙임을 인정하고 돌아오면 구원을 얻을 수

있었다. 토기장이 하나님은 끝까지 유다가 돌아오기를 기다리신다. 하지만 유다는 이 하나님의

말씀을 헛된 걸로 여기고 진흙에 불과한 자신이 스스로 토기장이 노릇을 하겠다고 고집한다.

Therefore, depending on whether we are obedient, we may reap the disaster we are

supposed to bring down or cancel the blessing we are going to give. Judas himself admitted

that he was the soil that had burst and was saved when he returned. God the potter waits

until the end for Judah to return. However, Judas considers this God's word to be futile and

insists that he, who is nothing but mud, will act as an earthenware maker himself

“우리는 각기 악한 마음이 완악한 대로 행하리라“라고 말한다. 상황이나 말씀으로 우리를 만지

실 때 내 작품 고집하지 말고 그분의 손길에 맡기자. 토기장이 비유를 통해서 하나님이 진흙인

유다에게 기대하시는 것은 무엇인가?

"We will do as each evil heart is perfect," he says. When you touch us with situations or words,

don't insist on my work and leave it to his hands. What does God expect from Judas, the mud,

through the earthenware man's metaphor?

그가 녹로로 일하는데(3b)

토기장이의 손에서 터지매(4b)

자기 의견에 좋은 대로 다른 그릇을 만들더라(4d)

그때 여호와의 말씀이(5a)

내가 능히 너희에게 행하지 못하겠느냐(6d)

이스라엘 족속아 진흙이 토기장이의 손에 있음같이(6e)

너희가 내 손에 있느니라(6f)

내가 어느 민족이나 국가를(7a)

뽑거나 부수거나(7b)

멸하려 할 때(7c)

만일 내가 말한 그 민족이(8a)

그의 악에서 돌이키면(8b)

내가 그에게 내리기로 생각하였던 재앙에 대하여(8d)

뜻을 돌이키겠고(8e)

내가 어느 민족이나 국가를(9a)

건설하거나(9b)

심으려 할 때 (9c)

만일 그들이 나 보기에 악한 것을 행하여(10a)

내 목소리를 청종하지 아니하면(10b)

내가 그에게 유익하게 하리라고 한(10c)

복에 대하여 뜻을 돌이키리라(10d)

그러므로 이제 너는(11a)

유다 사람들과 예루살렘 주민들에게 말하여 이르기를(11b)

여호와의 말씀에(11c)

보라 내가 너희에게 재앙을 내리며(11d)

계책을 세워 너희를 치려 하노니(11e)

너희는 각기 악한 길에서 돌이키며(11f)

너희의 길과 행위를 아름답게 하라 하셨다고 하라(11g)

그러나 그들이 말하기를(12a)

이는 헛되니(12b)

우리는 우리의 계획대로 행하며(12c)

우리는 각기 악한 마음이(12d)

완악한 대로 행하리라 하느니라(12e)

Israel to insist on its own will

토기장이이신 주님,

진흙에 대한 주권은 토기장이 하나님에게 있지만, 진흙의 반응을 따라 결정

하시나이다. 하나님이 손 내밀어 주실 때 그 손만 잡으면 다시 살 수 있는데,

계속해서 고집을 부리는 저(이스라엘)를 불쌍히 여겨주옵소서. 하나님의 손에

빗어지길 거부한 채 단단한 진흙 덩어리 상태로 있으려는 어긋난 마음을

내려놓고 내 인생을 하나님께 맡기게 하옵소서.

Lord, the potter,
The sovereignty over the mud lies with God, the earthenware master, but he

decides according to the reaction of the mud. When God reaches out his hand,

he can live again if he holds it, but please pity me (Israel) who continues to insist.

Let me put down my misplaced mind to be in a solid lump of mud an
