마태복음 18장

1. At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"

그때에 제자들이 예수께 와서 물었다, “하늘나라에서 누가 가장 큽니까?”

2. He called a little child and had him stand among them.

그는 어린아이를 불러서 그를 그들 가운데 서게 했다.

3. And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

그리고 그가 말씀하셨다: “나는 너희에게 진리를 말한다, 만약 너희가 변화하여 어린아이들처럼 되지 않는다면, 너희는 결코 하늘나라를 들어가지 못할 것이다. (어린 아이처럼 낮아져라)

4. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

그러므로, 이런 어린이처럼 자신을 낮추는 사람은 누구든지 하늘나라에서 가장 크다.

5. "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.

그리고 내 이름 안에서 이와 같은 어린아이 하나를 환영하는 사람은 누구든지 나를 환영하는 것이다.

6. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

그러나 만약 누구든지 내 안에서 믿는 이 작은 자들 중의 하나가 죄짓도록 원인이 된다면, 그는 큰 맷돌이 그의 목에 걸려지도록 해서 바다의 깊음에 빠드려지는 것이 더 낫다.

7. "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!

사람들이 죄짓도록 원인이 되는 일 때문에 세상에 화로다! 그런 일들이 틀림없이 온다,(일어난다) 그러나 그것들이 그 사람을 통해 일어나는 그 사람에게 화로다!

8. If your hand or your foot causes you to sin cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire.

만약 너의 손이나 발이 너를 죄짓게 한다면 그것을 잘라서 던져버려라. 네가 두 손과 두 발을 가지고 영원한 불 속으로 던져지는 것보다 장애를 입거나 불구가 되어 생명에 들어가는 것이 더 낫다. (죄를 짓게 하는 근원에 대하여 결단성있게 대처하라)

9. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

그리고 만약 너희의 눈이 너를 죄짓게 한다면 그것을 파내어 던져버려라. 네가 두 눈을 가지고 지옥불 속으로 던져지는 것보다 한 눈으로 생명에 들어가는 것이 더 낫다.

10. "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

“너희가 이 작은 자 중의 하나에게 붙어 무시하지 않는 것을 마음써라. 왜냐하면 나는 하늘에 있는 그들의 천사가 항상 하늘에 계신 나의 아버지의 얼굴을 본다는 것을 너희에게 말하기 때문이다.

11. The Son of Man came to save what was lost.

인자는 잃어진 것을 구하기 위해 왔다.

12. "What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

“너희는 무엇을 생각하느냐? 만약 어떤 사람이 백 마리의 양을 소유했다, 그리고 그것들 중의 한 마리가 길을 잃었다면, 그가 언덕에 99마리를 두고 길잃은 하나를 찾기 위해 가지 않겠느냐?

13. And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.

14. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.

15. "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.

“만약 너희 형제가 너에 대해 죄짓는다면, 가서 그에게 그의 잘못을 지적해라, 너희 둘 사이에서만. 만약 그가 너에게 듣는다면, 너는 너의 형제를 얻었다.

16. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that `every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'

그러나 만약 그가 듣지 않는다면, 한 명이나 두 명의 다른 사람들을 앞으로 데리고 가라, 모든 문제가 둘이나 세 명의 증인의 증언에 의해 확립되도록.

17. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

만약 그가 그들에게 듣기를 거절한다면, 교회에 그것을 말하라; 그리고 만약 그가 교회조차 듣기를 거절한다면, 너희가 흔히 했던 것처럼 그를 이교도나 세리로 취급하라.

18. "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

“나는 너희에게 진리를 말한다, 너희가 땅에서 묶는 것은 무엇이든지 하늘에서 묶일 것이다, 그리고 너희가 땅에서 푸는 것은 무엇이든지 하늘에서 풀릴 것이다.

19. "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

“또, 나는 너희에게 말한다. 만약 땅에서 너희 중의 두 명이 너희가 구하는 것에 대해 일치한다면, 그것이 하늘에 계신 나의 아버지에 의해 너희에게 이루어질 것이다.

20. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

왜냐하면 둘이나 셋이 내 이름 안에서 함께 하는 곳에, 내가 그들과 함께 있기 때문이다.

21. Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

그러나 베드로가 예수께 와서 물었다, “예수님, 얼마나 많은 횟수를 제가 나의 형제에게 용서해야 합니까, 그가 저에게 죄지었을 때? 7번까지인가요?”

22. Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

예수께서 대답하셨다, “나는 너희에게 말한다, 일곱 번이 아니라, 일흔 번씩 일곱 번이라고.

23. "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

“그러므로, 하늘나라는 그의 종들과 함께 계산을 하기 원하는 어떤 왕과 같다.

24. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him.

그가 결산을 시작했을 때, 그에게 1천 달란트 빚진 사람이 그에게 데려와졌다.

25. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

그가 지불 할 수 없었기 때문에, 주인은 그와 그의 아내와 그의 자녀들과 그가 가진 모든 것이 빚을 상환하기 위해 팔려야 한다고 명령했다.

26. "The servant fell on his knees before him. `Be patient with me,' he begged, `and I will pay back everything.'

27. The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.

28. "But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. `Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.

그러나 그 종이 나갔을 때, 그는 그에게 1백 데나리온을 동료 종들 중 빚진 한 명을 발견했다. 그는 그를 잡아 멱살을 쥐기 시작했다. ‘네가 나에게 빚진 것을 갚아!’ 그가 다그쳤다.

29. "His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, `Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'

30. "But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt.

31. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.

32. "Then the master called the servant in. `You wicked servant,' he said, `I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.

33. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?'

34. In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

화 속에서 그의 주인은 그를 간수들에게 고통받도록 넘겨주었다, 그가 빚진 모든 것을 그가 갚을 때까지.

35. "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."
