sinful acts and sinfulness 악한 행동과 악함 (죄성본성)

We begin to notice, besides our particular sinful acts, our sinfulness;

begin to be alarmed not only about what we do, but about what we are.

* 목적인 부정사구 to notice our sinfulness, to be alarmed not only about what we do, but about what we are.

* 전목인 의문사절 what we do 우리가 하는 그것, what we are 우리 자신/본질인 그것

This may sound rather difficult, so I will try to make it clear from my own case.

When I come /to my evening prayers and try to reckon up the sins of the day,

nine times out of ten, [the most obvious one] is some sin against charity;

I have sulked or snapped or sneered or snubbed or stormed.

* reckon up /chiefly British : to calculate the total number or amount of (something) 

* reckon은 미국 남부에서 생각하다/추정하다는 의미로도 쓰임 I reckon so. 

* 부사적으로 쓴 명사구 nine times out of ten 십중팔구

* 완료시제 have+pp ; 완료된 동작, 경험

And [the excuse //that immediately springs /to my mind] is that the provocation was so sudden and unexpected;

I was caught /off my guard, I had not time to collect myself.

* 주어인 명사구  [the excuse //that immediately springs /to my mind]  명+형절/주격 관대절

* 보어인 명사절  that the provocation was so sudden and unexpected;

* 보어인 형역 과분사 unexpected 

* caught off guard ; to surprise someone by doing something that they are not expecting or ready for. 

* 형역 부정사구 to collect myself.

Now that may be an extenuating circumstance /as regards those particular acts:

they would obviously be worse /if they had been deliberate and premeditated.

* 숙어 as regards ; concerning; with respect to.

* 형역 현분사 extenuating, 뒷 명사 circumstance 수식,  * 보어인 형역 과분사 premeditated, * 대명사 they = acts

* 가정 의미로 쓰인 would,  * 대과거/과거완료 시제 had+pp ; had been 과거의 한 시점 이전에 일어난 동작/상태 설명 

On the other hand, surely [what a man does /when he is taken off his guard]

is the best evidence /for what sort of a man he is?

Surely [what pops out /before the man has time to put on a disguise] is the truth?

* 주어인 의문사절 what a man does [목] /when he is taken off his guard 접속사인 의문사는 목적 역할도 대신함

* 전목인 의문사절  what sort of a man he is 

* 접속사로 쓰인 before, ​ * 형역 부정사구  to put on a disguise

* 평서문에 쓰인 의문표시 ? ; 평서문으로 하되 말 끝을 올리면 의문문이 됨

* 타동사구 put on ; 입다 가장하다

If there are rats in a cellar, you are most likely to see them /if you go in /very suddenly.

But the suddenness does not create the rats: it only prevents them /from hiding.

* 보어인 형용사구 most likely to see them if you go in very suddenly. 부+형+부역 부정사구+부사절

* 명+ly = 형용사 likely /adjective ; having a good chance of being the case or of coming about. 

* 자동사구 go in, * 부사구 /very suddenly,  * 대명사 it=suddenness, 갑작스러움,  * 전목인 동명사 hiding

In the same way, the suddenness of the provocation does not make me an ill-tempered man;

it only shows [me] [what an ill-tempered man I am].

* 5 형식 make [me] [an ill-tempered man]

* 형역 과분사 ill-tempered (하이픈으로 두 단어를 한 단어로 만듦)

* 4 형식 shows [me] [what an ill-tempered man I am].

The rats are always there in the cellar,

but if you go in /shouting and noisily they will have taken cover /before you switch on [the light].

* 강조부사로 쓰인 there = in the cellar,

​* 형역 과분사구 shouting and noisily 주어의 본동작과 동시동작인 준동작 설명 (동사를 두개 안 쓰고 동사+준동사로 씀)

* 숙어 Take cover 위험한 상황(폭격, 총격, 악천후 등)에서 몸을 안전한 곳으로 숨기거나 피신하다

* 타동사구 switch on 켜다

해석

We begin to notice, besides our particular sinful acts, our sinfulness; 

우리는, 우리의 악한 행동들뿐만 아니라, 우리의 악함/죄성도 인지하기를 시작한다  

begin to be alarmed not only about what we do, but about what we are. 
단지 우리가 하는 그것에 대한 것 말고도 우리 자신/본질인 그것에 대해 놀라기 시작한다

율법주의자들은 신난다 하겠지만 일단 율법을 깨면 용서가 없지만 신약은 회개하면 용서받는 은혜가 있어 좋다

내 마음에 즉각적으로 벌떡 일어난 변명은 그 충동이 갑작스러웠고 예견하지 못했다는 것이다

나는 헛점을 찔렸고 내 자신을 추스를 시간이 없었다

* 충동자극에 감정이 민감한 Emo 감정뭉치가 본능적 반응으로 헛점을 찔린 게 되는 건 이성을 거칠 시간이 없기에

체면이나 책임 인과응보고 나발이고 감정폭발로 사고뭉치가 되는데 성경적 본능반응은 인간죄성의 망할 습격이다

이제, 그런 특정한 행위에 관련하여 그것은 정상을 참작할만한 상황일 수 있었다고 한다면  

they would obviously be worse /if they had been deliberate and premeditated. 
그것들은 명백히 더 나쁠 수도 있을 것이다 만약 그것들이 고의적이고 계획된 것이었다면

* premeditated crime 계획된 범죄는 impulsive crime 충동범죄 보다도 죄질이 악해서 형량도 더 무겁게 되는데

우발적인 것보다 나쁜 건 범행동기가 이미 있고 그 목적을 이루기 위한 방법을 연구했기에 더 악한 범죄가 된다

다른 면에서는, 확실하게도 사람이 허를 찔렸을 때 그가 하는 그것은

​그가 어떤 종류의 사람인지에 대한 최고의 증거이다

* 허를 찔리면 쌩얼민낯을 보이데 화장변장 분칠회칠할 시간도 없이 갑작스레 여과되지 못한 본성기본이 나온 거다

확실하게도 사람이 변장할 시간이 있기 전에 튀어나오는 그것이 진실이 아닌가?

* 돌연한 충동이 나쁜 성질을 만들어 내는 것이 아니고 그런 성질이 이미 존재하고 있기에 충동으로 드러나는 것이고

신경질적인 사람도 평소에는 그렇게 안 보이다가 신경질 날 상황에 신경질을 부리는 건 본성이 그러니 나오는 것이니

죄성 본성이 존재하기에 죄를 짓는 것이지 충동이나 상황이 죄를 만들어 내는 것은 아니니 율법이 죄를 드러낸다 한다

The rats are always there in the cellar, 

쥐들은 항상 그곳 다락에 있었다

* 쥐들이 항상 거기 있었듯 죄성이 항상 죄인에게 존재하는데 죄성은 하나님 중심이 아닌 자기중심적 시각/생각인 건

하나님의 생각과는 다른 내 생각이 맞다 믿고 행동을 하는 그 자체가 하나님을 반대하는 것이기에 죄가 되는 때문이다

but if you go in /shouting and noisily, they will have taken cover /before you switch on the light.
그러나 만약 당신이 소리 지르며 소란스럽게 들어간다면, 당신이 불을 켜기 전에 대피하게 될 것이다
​

* 쥐가 나오지 못하게 하려면 불을 켜 두고 누군가가 있어야 하듯 빛 되신 예수님께서 임재하시면 죄가 난무할 수 없다
