형제들아 내가 그리스도 예수 우리 주 안에서 가진바 너희에게 대한 나의 자랑을 두고 단언하노니 나는 날마다 죽노라 내가 범인처럼 에베소에서 맹수로 더불어 싸웠으면 내게 무슨 유익이 있느뇨 죽은 자가 다시 살지 못할 것이면 내일 죽을터이니 먹고 마시자 하리라 속지 말라 악한 동무들은 선한 행실을 더럽히나니 깨어 의를 행하고 죄를 짓지 말라 하나님을 알지 못하는 자가 있기로 내가 너희를 부끄럽게 하기 위하여 말하노라 누가 묻기를 죽은 자들이 어떻게 다시 살며 어떠한 몸으로 오느냐 하리니

사도 바울은 날마다 자신을 부인하고 주님을 선택하며 세상의 것을 뒤로하였습니다. 이는 천국에 가기 위하여 오직 예수 그리스도의 말씀을 따르고 육신의 생각과 욕망을 버린 것입니다. 바울은 주님의 말씀에 순종하기 위하여 자신의 목숨까지도 아끼지 않았습니다.

바울은 복음을 전하다가 에베소에서 맹수와 싸우는 것과 같은 극심한 고난과 죽음의 위협을 당했습니다. 그러나 부활과 영생을 확실히 믿었기 때문에 육신의 생명까지도 기꺼이 내놓을 수 있었습니다. 만일 부활과 영생이 없다면 누구도 복음을 위하여 이처럼 고난을 받고 목숨을 버릴 수 없을 것입니다.

천국과 영생을 믿지 않는 자들은 오직 세상의 것을 위하여 살아갑니다. 건강과 돈과 명예와 세상의 쾌락만을 추구합니다. 그들은 죽으면 모든 것이 끝난다고 생각하기 때문에 “내일 죽을 것이니 먹고 마시자” 하며 육신의 즐거움을 위하여 살아갑니다.

형식적으로만 예수님을 믿는 자들도 이와 같습니다. 그들은 주님의 말씀을 뒤로하고 회개하지 않으며, 오직 세상의 것을 더 많이 얻기 위하여 살아갑니다. 이런 교인들은 자신의 영혼을 더럽히고 결국 하나님의 심판을 받게 됩니다. 사탄이 주는 생각에 속지 말아야 합니다. 하나님의 말씀을 거스르는 거짓된 인간의 교리는 사탄에게서 나온 생각입니다.

한 번 구원받았다고 해서 그 구원이 저절로 영원히 보장되는 것은 아닙니다. 그리스도인이라도 믿음을 버리고 죄 가운데 타락한 채 회개하지 않는다면 심판받고 지옥에 던져집니다. 이것이 성경의 가르침입니다. 그러므로 죄를 짓지 말고 의를 행하기를 힘써야 합니다. 비록 부족할지라도 자신의 죄를 회개하고 주님의 말씀에 순종하려고 힘쓸 때, 주님께서 그런 자녀를 긍휼히 여기시고 용서하십니다.

깨어 있어야 합니다. 영적인 잠에 빠져서는 안 됩니다. 주님보다 세상의 것을 더 사랑하며 살아가는 그리스도인은 영적인 잠에 빠진 사람입니다. 이 세상의 삶을 마치면 모든 사람은 하나님의 심판대 앞에 서야 합니다. 주님께서는 알곡은 천국에 들이시고 쭉정이는 지옥 불에 던지십니다. 주님의 말씀에 순종하기를 힘쓰며 날마다 회개하는 삶을 산 자들이 알곡으로 인정받아 천국에 들어갑니다.

1 Corinthians 15:31-35

Brothers, I affirm to you, by the pride I have in you in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I die daily. If I fought with wild beasts in Ephesus like a mere man, what good is it to me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. Do not be deceived. Bad company corrupts good morals. Be awake and do what is right, and do not sin. I say this to shame you, because there are some who do not know God. Someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?”

The Apostle Paul denied himself daily, chose the Lord, and left behind the things of the world. This was to follow only the words of Jesus Christ and cast away the thoughts and desires of the flesh in order to go to heaven. Paul did not spare even his own life to obey the Lord's word.

While preaching the gospel, Paul faced extreme suffering and threats of death in Ephesus, akin to fighting with wild beasts. However, because they firmly believed in resurrection and eternal life, they were able to willingly lay down even their physical lives. If there were no resurrection and eternal life, no one would be able to suffer and give up their lives for the sake of the Gospel in this way.

Those who do not believe in heaven and eternal life live solely for the things of the world. They pursue only health, money, honor, and worldly pleasures. Because they think that everything ends upon death, they live for physical pleasure, saying, "Tomorrow we will die, so let us eat and drink."

Those who believe in Jesus only formally are like this. They turn away from the Lord's word and do not repent, living only to acquire more of the world. Such believers defile their souls and will eventually face God's judgment. You must not be deceived by the thoughts given by Satan. False human doctrines that contradict God's word are thoughts originating from Satan.

Just because one has been saved once does not mean that salvation is automatically guaranteed forever. Even a Christian, if they abandon their faith, fall into sin, and do not repent, will be judged and cast into hell. This is the teaching of the Bible. Therefore, you must strive to do righteousness and not commit sin. Even if you are lacking, when you repent of your sins and strive to obey the Lord's word, the Lord takes mercy on such a child and forgives them.

You must stay awake. You must not fall into spiritual slumber. A Christian who lives loving worldly things more than the Lord is a person who has fallen into spiritual slumber. When life in this world ends, everyone must stand before God's judgment seat. The Lord gathers the wheat into heaven and casts the chaff into the fire of hell. Those who strive to obey the Lord's word and live a life of daily repentance are recognized as the wheat and enter heaven.
