Andrew Wiggins, Warriors Sign Four-Year, $109M Extension

The Golden State Warriors are committed to keeping their championship team together. Hours after agreeing to a four-year extension with Jordan Poole for up to $140 million, the Warriors signed Andrew Wiggins to veteran extension.

Wiggins reportedly signed a four-year extension worth $109 million. The final season is a player option for Wiggins in 2026-27.

Golden State's total salaries plus tax penalties will approach or top $500 million, or half-a-billion dollars, for the 2023-24 season. That's when the Warriors extensions with Poole and Wiggins will start.

The Golden State Warriors and Jordan Poole are finalizing a four-year, $123 million extension that could stretch it to $140 million depending on incentives. The deal will kick in with the start of the 2023-24 season. Poole will make $3.9 million this season.

Poole has steadily improved in each of first three NBA seasons. He averaged 8.8 points as a rookie, 12.0 points as a sophomore and broke out with 18.5 points per game last season. Poole has proven capable of starting or being one of the league's best sixth men off the bench.

The Warriors will have in excess of $150 million in guaranteed salary on next season's cap sheet after inking Poole's extension. That's before re-signing Andrew Wiggins and however Draymond Green handles his player option for 2023-24.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have picked up their team options for Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels for the 2023-24 season. These are fourth-year options for both Edwards and McDaniels.

Edwards averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.5 steals in his second season. The 6-foot-5 guard is poised to make his first All-Star team this season.

McDaniels averaged 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 25.8 minutes per game off the Wolves bench last season. He was recently named as Minnesota's starting small forward for this upcoming season, alongside Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert and D'Angelo Russell.

Cavaliers Exercise 23-24 Options for Evan Mobley, Isaac Okoro

The Cleveland Cavaliers have exercised their 2023-24 rookie scale team options for Evan Mobley and Isaac Okoro. These were the third-year option for Mobley and the fourth-year option for Okoro.

Mobley was a breakout player as a rookie last season. He averaged 14.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. Mobley is already considered one of the better defensive big men in the NBA.

Okoro has averaged 9.2 points, and 3.0 rebounds over the first 134 games of his NBA career. Last season Okoro made major strides as a shooter, as he shot 48% overall and 35% from three-point range.

The Oklahoma City Thunder exercised their rookie scale team options for Josh Giddey, Tre Mann and Aleksej Pokusevski. All options were for the 2023-24 season. They were third-year options for Giddey and Mann and a fourth-year option for Pokusevski.

Giddey averaged 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.4 assists as a rookie last season. The 6-foot-8 guard is considered a key part of Oklahoma City's rebuild.

Mann was also a rookie last season. He turned in 10.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 22.8 minutes per game.

Pokusevski has averaged 7.8 points and 5.0 rebounds over 106 games in his two-year NBA career.

Thunder To Sign Isaiah Joe, Waive David Nwaba

The Oklahoma City Thunder plan to sign free agent guard Isaiah Joe to multi-year deal. To create the roster space for Joe, Oklahoma City plans to waive guard David Nwaba.

Joe cleared waivers on Saturday after recently being waived by the Philadelphia 76ers. He's shown shooting ability, which the Thunder roster is short on.

Nwaba was part of the eight-player trade where the Thunder acquired him, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss and Sterling Brown from the Houston Rockets for Derrick Favors, Moe Harkless, Ty Jerome and Theo Maledon.

The trade was made for salary cap reasons for both the Thunder and Rockets. Oklahoma City has already waived Sterling Brown, and is likely to waive Burke and Chriss, along with Nwaba, in coming days. The Rockets have waived all four players they acquired from the Thunder in the deal.

The Memphis Grizzlies exercised 2023-24 rookie scale team options for Santi Aldama, Desmond Bane and Ziaire Williams. These were a fourth-year option for Bane and third-year options for Aldama and Williams.

Bane has become one of the Grizzlies key players. In his second season, Bane averaged 18.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He also shot 43.6% on three-pointers.

Aldama saw limited NBA playing time in his rookie season, but flashed good offensive ability in the G League. Aldama is expected to play a bigger role this season, with Jaren Jackson Jr. out due to injury to begin the year.

Williams showed good promise as a rookie. He averaged 8.1 points on 45% shooting. Williams' role grew month-by-month and he's expected to be a key rotation player for Memphis this season.

Rockets Waive Derrick Favors

The Houston Rockets will waive Derrick Favors.

The Rockets needed to make a roster cut in order to reach 15 guaranteed contracts before the start of the season.

Favors was recently acquired by Houston in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Detroit Pistons are likely to waive Kemba Walker before Monday's deadline to finalize regular-season rosters, sources told Shams Charania and James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

The Pistons will then have 15 players on their roster.

The 32-year-old Walker, who was traded to the Pistons on draft day, did not join the team for training camp or preseason.
