Bob Myers: Too Early To Make Any Drastic Decisions

 골든의 Bob Myers는 팀이 초반 부진하고는 있지만, 팀의 방향성을 극적으로 바꾸기에는 너무 빠른 시기이기에, 할 수 있는 것은 하겠지만 지금 당장 극적인 변화를 만들 생각은 없고, 일단 계속 관찰할 것이라고 이야기 합니다.

The Golden State Warriors have been trying to maintain multiple timelines by having their championship core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, while also developing a number of high-potential former lottery picks.

Those lottery picks, James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga, were expected to contribute this season, but the early returns have been discouraging.

Bob Myers was asked if Golden State's slow start to the season has made the franchise reconsider whether they need to make a win-now trade by moving one or more of those young players.

"I know it’s been written and maybe too succinctly: We’re always open to anything," said Myers. "Nothing is concrete in this business and it’s never been more so in the NBA. Doesn’t mean we’re doing anything now. We haven’t made any decisions. But I would say that we think we’re a contender and we’ll eval‎uate if we’re still a contender, what we look like, many games from now and decide the best course to move forward.

"I go back to last year at the deadline and this clamor we had to have a big guy or we weren’t going to win. And that’s fine. But you never know, right? [Kevon] Looney played 82, and Draymond, and it worked out. So it’s hard to say as far as personnel what the right buttons to push are.

"We’re not going to overreact to this start. We’re going to see how we move through it. But we view ourselves as contenders. There’s no secret there. And we’ll look at the roster as we move ahead. But at this point, it’s way too early to kind of make any proclamations about what we’re going to do. I know there’s an intense interest. I love that we have such a following in our community and such a passion for our team. It’s so nice to work in an environment where we have that engagement level. I mean, I walk across the street and get yelled at about what we need to do, which is what I love about the Bay Area and San Francisco.

"But it is 11 games. I’ll get back on the phone with you after 40 games or half the season and if we’re talking about the same stuff, maybe it’ll be different answers. But at this point, it is early. Not so early that we don’t care what we’re looking like. But it is too early to kind of make any drastic decisions."

Cameron Johnson Out 1-2 Months After Meniscus Trim

Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson underwent surgery on his torn right meniscus on Tuesday. Johnson had his meniscus trimmed and he's expected to be out for 1-2 months.

The fourth-year veteran was injured after playing five minutes of the Suns loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on November 4. On the season, Johnson has averaged a career-best 13 points per game, while knocking down 43.1% of his three-point shots.

There has been some speculation that Phoenix could try to entice Jae Crowder to return to the team while Johnson is out. Crowder asked for a trade this offseason after being informed he would lose his starting role to Johnson. The Suns and Crowder agreed for him to leave the team while Phoenix looks for a trade for the veteran forward.

Kyrie Irving Has 'Productive, Understanding' Meeting With Adam Silver

Kyrie Irving had a "productive and understanding visit" with Adam Silver on Tuesday morning.

Irving is currently serving a minimum five-game suspension issued by the Brooklyn Nets. Irving must work through a number of requirements in order to be reinstated by the Nets to resume playing.

The suspension stems from Irving linking to an antisemitic documentary and his subsequent refusal to disavow it when asked by the media during multiple availabilities. 

Irving is in the final season of his current contract with the Nets.

NBA Still Considering Mexico City For Expansion

When the NBA decides it is ready for expansion, Seattle is widely expected to receive one of the franchises. The other city has been expected to be Las Vegas, but the NBA has acknowledged to Marc J. Spears of Andscape that Mexico City is also a potential candidate.

The NBA has expanded the G League into Mexico City this season with the Capitanes drawing 7,391 fans at Arena CDMX.

“Expansion is currently not on the docket, but at some point, if we were to turn to expansion, there’s no doubt that Mexico City would have to be one the cities that would be in consideration along with a host of other very big and relevant cities in North America,” NBA deputy commissioner Mark Tatum told Andscape. “One of the biggest challenges around international expansion has always been the travel issues, the facility issues. But there is a world-class facility in Mexico City in Arena CDMX, which is where we’ve been playing our games and our global games in Mexico. And that’s actually the home of the G League team, the Capitanes. And so that’s not an issue.

“And the travel is not an issue. It’s a pretty short flight for several of our teams, particularly our Texas teams, our Florida teams, our New Orleans team. Arizona actually is a pretty short flight. So, those are all the kinds of things that we would take into consideration, and for those reasons you’d have to consider it. But again, I’d say it’s not immediately on the docket right now.”

Jonathan Isaac Has Returned To 5-On-5 Work

The last time Jonathan Isaac played in an NBA game was August 2, 2020 in the NBA bubble at Walt Disney World. Isaac blew out his knee in a game against the Sacramento Kings and has gone on to miss the entirety of the last two seasons.

Now, Isaac is inching closer to a return. The Orlando Magic big man said he's playing 5-of-5 for the last few weeks.

“I’ve been playing the last few weeks and just getting in shape,” Isaac said. “I’m still getting there. But in terms of body, knees and hamstrings, everything is great. I’m just not in game shape."

Isaac was closing in on a return last season before suffering a serious hamstring injury. At that point, the Magic chose to shut him down in what was a lost season. Isaac says he feels "fantastic" physically but needs more time to work on his conditioning.

“The only step is continuing to get in shape,” Isaac said. “We played the other day, and I was gassed. Obviously, I haven’t done it in a long time. Continuing to get in shape and playing 5-on-5 four times a week. Just being able to run up and down and get in shape is what I’m focused on right now."

Zach Collins underwent an MRI examination in San Antonio that has confirmed a non-displaced fracture of the fibula head.

Collins suffered a left lower leg contusion during the Spurs-Clippers game on November 4, which was later imaged and revealed the non-displaced fracture.

The 37-year-old played with the Lakers last season, averaging 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. 

The former first overall pick has played 18 seasons in the NBA, averaging 15.7 points and 11.8 rebounds throughout his career.
