LaMelo Ball Could Return Friday

 샬럿이 많은 선수들이 부상으로 결장 중인 가운데 고전하고 있습니다. 그 와중에, LaMelo Ball이 발목 부상에서 회복되어 조만간 복귀할 수도 있다고 하네요. 일단 스퍼스 전 복귀하게 될 수도 있다고 합니다.

The Charlotte Hornets have had a rough season. Injuries have played a big part in the team's 8-27 record. However, some good news has come on that front.

LaMelo Ball could return Friday from what has been a 20-game absence due to a severely sprained ankle. Ball was injured on November 26 and has missed a month-and-a-half of action.

Ball has been upgraded to questionable for Friday's game at the San Antonio Spurs. The Hornets also upgraded Frank Ntilikina to questionable as well. Ntilikina has missed the entire season to date, after suffering a fractured leg in the preseason.

Hornets, City Of Charlotte To Upgrade Spectrum Center

The Charlotte Hornets and the city of Charlotte are working together to upgrade the Spectrum Center, where the Hornets play home games. The work is expected to take place over the 2024 and 2025 off-seasons and will include major renovations.

The efforts are being led by the Hornets new owners Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin. The franchise is also planning to build a new practice facility, as well.

Grizzlies Apply For $12.4M Disabled Player Exception For Ja Morant

The Memphis Grizzlies have applied to the NBA for a Disabled Player Exception for injured guard Ja Morant. Memphis recently announced Morant would miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season due to surgery on a torn labrum.

If approved, the Grizzlies will receive a DPE worth $12.4 million. A DPE is for the lesser of half of the disabled player's salary or the equivalent of the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception. That amount is $12.4 million this season.

Should Memphis get the DPE for Morant, they will have until March 11 to use it. The Grizzlies can use the DPE to trade for or claim off waivers one player who has only the remainder of this season (without an option) remaining on their contract and whose salary fits inside the exception. Memphis could also choose to sign one player to a rest-of-season contract for up to $12.4 million.

The Atlanta Hawks appear determined to trade Dejounte Murray by the deadline and he's been discussed in a number of scenarios already.

The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons are five teams expected to engage the Hawks on a trade for Murray leading to the deadline.

While the San Antonio Spurs have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Murray, they do not currently have the types of pieces Atlanta is believed to be looking for in a deal. The Brooklyn Nets don't appear to be actively pursuing Murray.

Murray signed a four-year, $114 million extension last offseason, which begins ahead of the 24-25 season.

Murray's contract is considered a good one in the NBA's new second apron environment. 

In-Season Tournament To Return Next Season With 'A Couple Of Tweaks'

Adam Silver confirmed that the In-Season Tournament will return next season with a couple of slight adjustments. 

"We are pleased with the success after the first season and no doubt it will be back next year, probably with just a couple of tweaks.

"Then beyond that, as we're talking to television partners, maybe figuring out exactly when the best time of year is to do it, maybe it will make sense to make some other modifications to the format, those are things we'll look at," said Silver before the Nets-Cavs game in Paris.

Team presidents met recently to discuss small changes, including how to break ties and the appearances of the courts.

Silver also added that the NBA could play multiple games in Paris next season.

NBA Finalizing Plans To Split 2024 Draft Over Two Nights

The NBA is finalizing plans to turn the 2024 NBA draft into a two-night event.

The draft would split the first and second rounds into two separate nights over June 26th and 27th.

The league must get final approval from the National Basketball Players Association.

Teams have been frustrated with the chaotic speed of the second round and believe there could be more order in the process with a day between the picks.

The NBA draft typically has been held on a Thursday evening, but this would move the first round to a Wednesday with the second round on a Thursday. 

Marcus Smart Out At Least Six Weeks With Finger Injury

Marcus Smart will miss at least the next six weeks with a broken finger.

Smart suffered a rupture of the proximal interphalaneal joint central slip during Tuesday's game at the Dallas Mavericks.

The Memphis Grizzlies also lost Ja Morant for the remainder of the season this week.

Warriors Willing To Consider Any Player In Trade Scenario Except Stephen Curry

The Golden State Warriors have difficult decisions to make heading into the trade deadline as their season is on the brink of collapse falling out of the Play-In chase. With that in mind, the Warriors' front office has the mindset that everybody on the roster could be discussed in trade scenarios with the exception of Stephen Curry.

"The mindset in Golden State right now is everyone but Steph Curry is on the table," said Shams Charania. "That's their mindset. Realistically, there's an asterisk. Klay Thompson, would they want to keep him long-term and keep him in Golden State? I think that's been their hope. They have not been able to reach a contract extension with him. And Draymond Green just got [re-signed to] an extension. Those have been their three core guys.

"In the front office, they're big fans of Jonathan Kuminga, they're big fans of Brandon Podziemski, big fans of Trace Jackson-Davis. But [Andrew] Wiggins and everyone else on that roster, except Steph Curry, has to be in play for this team.

"They're going to be looking to make moves."

The Warriors also don't want to take long-term money back in any trade.

Charania also adds that the uncertain status of Steve Kerr, who has not signed an extension, weighs on their decision making.
