고린도후서 8:12-15 할 마음만 있으면 있는 대로 받으실 터이요 없는 것을 받지 아니하시리라 이는 다른 사람들은 평안하게 하고 너희는 곤고하게 하려는 것이 아니요 평균케 하려 함이니 이제 너희의 유여한 것으로 저희 부족한 것을 보충함은 후에 저희 유여한 것으로 너희 부족한 것을 보충하여 평균하게 하려 함이라 기록한 것 같이 많이 거둔 자도 남지 아니하였고 적게 거둔 자도 모자라지 아니하였느니라

헌신할 마음만 있으면 주님께서 그 헌신을 받으시며, 없는 것을 달라고 하지 않으십니다. 헌신할 수 있는 여유가 있고 자원하여 드릴 마음이 있을 때 주님께 헌신하는 것이 주님을 기쁘시게 하는 것입니다. 사람에게 칭찬받기 위해 헌신하는 것은 주님께 영광을 돌리는 것이 아닙니다.

우리가 감사와 즐거움으로 드릴 때 주님께서 우리의 헌신을 받으시는 것은 우리를 평균하게 하시기 위함입니다. 여유가 있는 사람이 부족한 사람을 도와 그 부족함을 채워 줄 때 주님께서 기뻐하시고 영광을 받으십니다. 그리고 사람의 상황은 바뀝니다. 여유가 있던 사람이 부족해질 수 있습니다.

그럴 때에는 이전에 다른 사람을 도왔던 사람이 다른 사람에게 도움을 받게 됩니다.많은 것을 가진 사람은 다른 사람을 지배하려 해서는 안 됩니다. 여유가 있을 때는 다른 사람을 섬겨야 할 때입니다. 주님께서 다른 사람을 섬길 기회를 주신 것입니다.

여유가 있을 때 주님의 뜻에 따라 부족한 사람을 돕는 것은 결국 자신을 위한 것이기도 합니다. 자신이 어려워질 때 주님께서 여유가 있는 다른 사람을 통하여 자신을 돕게 하시기 때문입니다. 이스라엘 백성이 광야를 지날 때 주님께서 만나를 내려 주셨습니다. 만나를 많이 거둔 사람도 있었고 적게 거둔 다도 있었습니다.

그들이 들에서 만나를 거두어 집으로 돌아왔을 때, 만나의 분량은 가족 수에 따라 저절로 조정되었습니다. 욕심 때문에 많이 거둔 사람에게도 남지 않았고, 적게 거둔 사람에게도 부족하지 않았습니다. 주님께서 모두를 평균하게 하신 것입니다. 오늘날에도 주님은 동일하게 역사하십니다.

현실에는 부유한 사람과 가난한 사람이 항상 존재합니다. 그러나 이러한 현실은 주님께서 각 사람에게 허락하신 순종의 기회입니다. 자신의 처지에 맞게 다른 사람을 도울 때, 주님께서는 그 사람의 믿음을 보신 후 더 많은 것으로 다른 사람을 돕도록 그 사람을 축복하십니다.

2 Corinthians 8:12-15

For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what one does not have. For this is not that others may be at ease and you burdened, but that there may be equality. At this time your abundance supplies their lack, so that afterward their abundance may supply your lack, that there may be equality. As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”

If only you have a heart to devote yourself, the Lord accepts that devotion and does not ask for what you do not have. When you have the means to devote yourself and a willing heart to give, devoting yourself to the Lord is what pleases Him. Devoting yourself in order to receive praise from people does not bring glory to the Lord.

When we give with gratitude and joy, the Lord accepts our devotion in order to bring us to equality. When a person who has abundance helps one who is in need and supplies that lack, the Lord is pleased and receives glory. And people’s circumstances change. A person who had abundance may come to be in need.

At such a time, the person who previously helped others will receive help from others. A person who has much must not try to rule over others. When one has abundance, it is time to serve others. The Lord has given an opportunity to serve others.

Helping those in need according to the Lord’s will when one has abundance is ultimately also for oneself. This is because when one falls into difficulty, the Lord causes another person who has abundance to help him. When the people of Israel passed through the wilderness, the Lord sent down manna. Some gathered much manna, and others gathered little.

When they gathered manna in the field and returned home, the amount of manna was automatically adjusted according to the number of family members. Those who gathered much out of greed had nothing left over, and those who gathered little did not lack. The Lord brought everyone to equality. Even today, the Lord works in the same way.

In reality, rich people and poor people always exist. But this reality is an opportunity for obedience that the Lord has allowed each person. When a person helps others according to his own circumstances, the Lord sees that person’s faith and then blesses him with more so that he may help others.
