고린도후서 12:7-10 여러 계시를 받은 것이 지극히 크므로 너무 자고하지 않게 하시려고 내 육체에 가시 곧 사단의 사자를 주셨으니 이는 나를 쳐서 너무 자고하지 않게 하려 하심이니라 이것이 내게서 떠나기 위하여 내가 세 번 주께 간구하였더니 내게 이르시기를 내 은혜가 네게 족하도다 이는 내 능력이 약한데서 온전하여짐이라 하신지라 이러므로 도리어 크게 기뻐함으로 나의 여러 약한 것들에 대하여 자랑하리니 이는 그리스도의 능력으로 내게 머물게 하려 함이라 그러므로 내가 그리스도를 위하여 약한 것들과 능욕과 궁핍과 핍박과 곤란을 기뻐하노니 이는 내가 약할 그 때에 곧 강함이니라

사도 바울이 하나님께 받은 계시는 너무나 컸습니다. 그래서 그가 교만해지는 것을 막기 위하여 하나님께서는 그의 육체에 가시, 곧 사단의 사자를 주셨습니다. 이는 하나님께서 허락하신 범위 안에서 사탄이 그의 몸을 괴롭게 한 것입니다.

고난에는 두 종류가 있습니다. 첫째, 죄를 지었으나 회개하지 않을 때 주님께서 우리를 회개시키기 위해 주시는 징계의 고난입니다. 둘째, 사도 바울의 경우처럼, 죄로 인한 고난이 아니라 너무 큰 계시를 받아 교만해지는 것을 막기 위해 하나님께서 허락하신 고난입니다.

그러므로 아무나 자신의 고난을 사도 바울의 고난이라고 생각해서는 안 됩니다. 죄 때문에 고난을 받으면서도 그것을 바울의 가시라고 생각한다면 회개하지 않게 되고 결국 멸망할 수 있습니다. 먼저 자신의 죄를 살피고 진실하게 회개해야 합니다.

바울은 육체가 약했기에 더욱 하나님을 의지할 수밖에 없었습니다. 하나님께서는 이러한 바울을 통해 많은 영적인 비밀을 성경에 기록하게 하셨습니다.

진실하게 회개하고 주님의 말씀에 순종할 때 하나님께서는 성도들에게 건강과 축복을 주십니다. 그러나 주님의 종들은 맡겨진 교인들을 잘 가르쳐 천국으로 인도해야 하므로 더욱 깨끗한 마음과 성결한 삶이 요구됩니다. 목회자의 작은 실수도 많은 교인들을 실족시킬 수 있기 때문입니다.

열심히 순종하는데도 육체가 약해지는 경우가 있습니까? 너무 염려하지 마십시오. 하나님께서는 몸의 약함을 통해 더욱 그분을 의지하게 하시고, 교만하지 않도록 지키시며, 당신의 미래를 보호하십니다. “내 은혜가 네게 족하도다. 이는 내 능력이 약한 데서 온전하여짐이라.”

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Because the revelations I received were exceedingly great, in order that I might not become too conceited, He gave me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me, so that I might not become too conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me, but He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

The revelations the apostle Paul received from God were exceedingly great. Therefore, in order to prevent him from becoming conceited, God gave him a thorn in his flesh, that is, a messenger of Satan. This means that Satan afflicted his body within the limits permitted by God.

There are two kinds of suffering. First, there is the suffering of discipline that the Lord gives to make us repent when we have sinned but have not repented. Second, as in the case of the apostle Paul, there is suffering not caused by sin, but permitted by God to prevent a person who has received exceedingly great revelations from becoming conceited.

Therefore, no one should think that his or her suffering is the suffering of the apostle Paul. If someone is suffering because of sin but thinks of it as Paul’s thorn, that person will not repent and may ultimately perish. First, you must examine your own sins and repent sincerely.

Because Paul’s flesh was weak, he had no choice but to rely more fully on God. Through this Paul, God caused many spiritual mysteries to be recorded in the Bible.

When you repent sincerely and obey the Lord’s word, God gives health and blessings to the saints. However, since the Lord’s servants must teach the church members entrusted to them well and lead them to heaven, an even purer heart and a holy life are required. This is because even a pastor’s small mistake can cause many church members to stumble.

Even when you are diligently obeying, are there times when your body becomes weak? Do not worry too much. Through the weakness of your body, God causes you to rely on Him more, keeps you from becoming conceited, and protects your future. “My grace is sufficient for you. For My power is made perfect in weakness.”
