고린도후서 13:5-9 “너희가 믿음에 있는가 너희 자신을 시험하고 너희 자신을 확증하라 예수 그리스도께서 너희 안에 계신 줄을 너희가 스스로 알지 못하느냐 그렇지 않으면 너희가 버리운 자니라 우리가 버리운 자 되지 아니한 것을 너희가 알기를 내가 바라고 우리가 하나님께서 너희로 악을 조금도 행하지 않게 하시기를 구하노니 이는 우리가 옳은 자임을 나타내고자 함이 아니라 오직 우리는 버리운 자 같을찌라도 너희로 선을 행하게 하고자 함이라 우리는 진리를 거스려 아무 것도 할 수 없고 오직 진리를 위할 뿐이니 우리가 약할 때에 너희의 강한 것을 기뻐하고 또 이것을 위하여 구하니 곧 너희의 온전하게 되는 것이라.”

하나님의 백성은 그리스도께서 자기 안에 거하시는지를 시험하며 자신의 믿음이 살아 있는지를 스스로 확인해야 합니다. 예수 그리스도께서 자기 안에 거하시는 것을 확증하지 못한다면 그는 주님께 버림받은 자입니다. 교회에 다닐지라도 구원의 길에서 벗어난 것입니다.

예수님의 피로 죄 사함을 받은 자는 예수님의 말씀에 순종해야 합니다. 예수님께서 피 흘려 우리의 죄를 구속하신 목적은 악한 삶을 버리고 그리스도의 말씀을 따라 선하게 살게 하기 위함입니다. 그러므로 모든 그리스도인은 완악한 마음을 버리고 서로 용서하며 사랑하기를 힘써야 합니다.

그리스도께서 내 안에 거하신다면 그 삶은 주님의 말씀을 실천하는 모습으로 나타나야 합니다. 육신의 정욕을 따라 살면서 죄를 회개하지 않는 사람은 성령의 인도하심을 받을 수 없습니다. 성령의 인도하심을 받지 못하는 자는 교회에 다니더라도 구원을 확신할 수 없습니다. 회개하지 않고 계속 죄를 따라 사는 자는 사탄의 권세 아래 살아가는 것입니다.

진리를 거역하지 말아야 합니다. 그리스도인은 오직 진리를 위해 살아야 합니다. 예수 그리스도만이 구원자이심을 믿고 예수님의 말씀에 순종해야 합니다. 죄를 지었을 때는 즉시 회개하고 예수님의 피로 죄 사함을 받아야 합니다. 이것이 진리를 따르는 신앙생활입니다.

세상의 욕심을 이루기 위해 다른 사람을 해치고 미워하면서도 자신은 구원받았다고 믿는 것은 거짓된 신앙생활입니다. 한 번 예수님을 구원자로 고백했다는 이유만으로 이후의 삶과 상관없이 무조건 천국에 간다는 가르침은 성경의 회개와 순종의 말씀을 떠나게 합니다. 이러한 거짓된 가르침으로 인해 많은 그리스도인이 죄를 버리지 않고 살아갑니다.

자신이 참으로 믿음 안에 있는지 스스로 시험하십시오. 죄를 회개하고 예수님의 말씀에 순종하십시오. 서로 용서하고 사랑하며 선을 행하십시오. 진리를 따라 사는 삶을 통해 그리스도께서 내 안에 살아 계심을 나타내야 합니다.

2 Corinthians 13:5-9

“Test yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; examine yourselves. Do you not realize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? And I hope that you will recognize that we have not failed the test. Now we pray to God that you may not do anything wrong—not that we may appear to have passed the test, but that you may do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. We rejoice when we are weak and you are strong; and our prayer is that you may be fully restored.”

God’s people must test whether Christ dwells in them and personally confirm‎ whether their faith is alive. If a person cannot confirm‎ that Jesus Christ dwells in him, he is one rejected by the Lord. Even if he attends church, he has strayed from the way of salvation.

Those who have received forgiveness of sins through Jesus’ blood must obey Jesus’ words. The purpose for which Jesus shed His blood to redeem our sins was to enable us to abandon our evil lives and live uprightly according to Christ’s words. Therefore, every Christian must abandon a hardened heart and strive to forgive and love one another.

If Christ dwells in me, that life must be manifested in practicing the Lord’s words. A person who lives according to the desires of the flesh without repenting of sin cannot receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Those who do not receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit cannot be assured of salvation even if they attend church. Those who do not repent and continue to live according to sin are living under Satan’s authority.

We must not rebel against the truth. Christians must live only for the truth. We must believe that Jesus Christ alone is the Savior and obey Jesus’ words. When we sin, we must immediately repent and receive forgiveness of sins through Jesus’ blood. This is a life of faith that follows the truth.

Believing that one is saved while harming and hating others to fulfill the desires of the world is a false life of faith. The teaching that a person will unconditionally go to heaven regardless of his subsequent life simply because he once confessed Jesus as his Savior leads people away from the Bible’s teachings on repentance and obedience. Because of such false teachings, many Christians live without abandoning sin.

Test yourselves to see whether you are truly in the faith. Repent of your sins and obey Jesus’ words. Forgive and love one another and do good. Through a life lived according to the truth, you must show that Christ is living in you.
