이사야(ISAIAH)는 축소판 성경과 같다고 한다.

이사야서는 한 명의 저자에 의해 단번에 기록된 것이 아니라, 약 200년 이상에 걸쳐 여러 시기의 예언자들에 의해 기록된 복합적인 책이라고 할 수 있다. 하지만 전통적으로는 이 모든 부분을 예언자 이사야의 이름으로 묶어 "이사야서"라고 부른다.

1 그대들의 하나님이 이르시되

그대들은 위로하라 내 백성을 위로하라.

2 그대들은 예루살렘(Jerusalem)의 마음에 닿도록 말하며 그에게 외치라.

그 노역의 때가 끝났고 그 죄악이 사함을 받았음이라.

그의 모든 죄로 말미암아 여호와(the LORD)의 손에서 벌을 배나 받았음이라 할지니라.

1 “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!”

Says your God.

2 “Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her,

That her warfare is ended,

That her iniquity is pardoned;

For she has received from the LORD’s hand

Double for all her sins.”

3 외치는 자의 소리여 이르되

그대들은 광야에서 여호와(the LORD)의 길을 예비하라.

사막에서 우리 하나님의 대로를 평탄하게 하라.

4 골짜기마다 돋우어지며

산마다 언덕마다 낮아지며

고르지 아니한 곳이 평탄하게 되며

험한 곳이 평지가 될 것이요.

5 여호와의 영광(The glory of the LORD)이 나타나고

모든 육체가 그것을 함께 보리라.

여호와의 입(the mouth of the LORD)이 말씀하셨음이라.

3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness:

“Prepare the way of the LORD;

Make straight in the deserta

A highway for our God.

4 Every valley shall be exalted

And every mountain and hill brought low;

The crooked places shall be made straight

And the rough places smooth;

5 The glory of the LORD shall be revealed,

And all flesh shall see it together;

For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

6 말하는 자의 소리여 이르되 외치라.

대답하되 내가 무엇이라 외치리이까 하니 이르되,

모든 육체는 풀(flesh is grass)이요

그의 모든 아름다움(all its loveliness )은 들의 꽃(the flower of the field)과 같으니.

7 풀이 마르고 꽃이 시듦은

여호와(the LORD)의 기운이 그 위에 붊이라.

진실로 백성은 풀(the people are grass)이로다.

8 풀은 마르고 꽃은 시드나,

우리 하나님의 말씀(the word of our God)은 영원히 서리라 하라.

6 The voice said, “Cry out!”

And hea said, “What shall I cry?”

“All flesh is grass,

And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.

7 The grass withers, the flower fades,

Because the breath of the LORD blows upon it;

Surely the people are grass.

8 The grass withers, the flower fades,

But the word of our God stands forever.”

9 아름다운 소식을 시온(Zion)에 전하는 자여

그대는 높은 산에 오르라.

아름다운 소식을 예루살렘(Jerusalem)에 전하는 자여

그대는 힘써 소리를 높이라 두려워하지 말고 소리를 높여

유다(Judah)의 성읍들에게 이르기를 너희의 하나님을 보라 하라.

10 보라 주 하나님(the Lord GOD)께서 장차 강한 손(strong hand)으로 임하실 것이요

친히 그의 팔로 다스리실 것이라.

보라 그의 상급(reward)이 그와 함께 있고 그의 보응(work)이 그의 앞에 있음이라.

11 그는 목자(a shepherd) 같이 자기의 양 떼를 먹이시며

어린 양을 그의 팔로 모아 품(bosom)에 안으시며

젖 먹이는 암양들을 온순히 인도하시리로다.

9 O Zion,

You who bring good tidings,

Get up into the high mountain;

O Jerusalem,

You who bring good tidings,

Lift up your voice with strength,

Lift it up, be not afraid;

Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!”

10 Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong hand,

And His arm shall rule for Him;

Behold, His reward is with Him,

And His work before Him.

11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd;

He will gather the lambs with His arm,

And carry them in His bosom,

And gently lead those who are with young.

12 누가 손바닥으로 바닷물을 헤아렸으며

뼘(span)으로 하늘을 쟀으며

땅의 티끌(dust of the earth)을 되(measure)에 담아 보았으며

저울(scales)로 산들을, 천칭(balance)으로 언덕들을 달아 보았으랴.

14 그가 누구와 더불어 의논하셨으며 누가 그를 교훈하였으며

그에게 정의의 길(the path of justice)을 가르쳤으며 지식(knowledge)을 가르쳤으며

명철(the way of understanding)의 도를 그에게 보여 주었느냐.

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,

Measured heaven with a span

And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure?

Weighed the mountains in scales

And the hills in a balance?

13 Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD,

Or as His counselor has taught Him?

14 With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him,

And taught Him in justice?

Who taught Him knowledge,

And showed Him the way of understanding?

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket,

And are counted as the small dust on the scales;

Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn,

Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering.

17 All nations before Him are as nothing,

And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.

18 그런즉 너희가 하나님(God)을 누구와 같다 하겠으며

무슨 형상(likeness)을 그에게 비기겠느냐.

19 우상(image)은 장인(workman)이 부어 만들었고

금장색(goldsmith)은 금으로 입혔고

은장색(silversmith)은 은 사슬을 만들었느니라.

20 무릇 거할 형편이 어려운 자는

썩지 아니하는 나무(tree that will not rot)를 택하고

재주 있는 장인(skillful workman)을 구하여

아로새긴 우상(carved image)을 만들어

흔들리지 아니하도록 세우느니라.

18 To whom then will you liken God?

Or what likeness will you compare to Him?

19 The workman molds an image,

The goldsmith overspreads it with gold,

And the silversmith casts silver chains.

20 Whoever is too impoverished for such a contribution

Chooses a tree that will not rot;

He seeks for himself a skillful workman

To prepare a carved image that will not totter.

21 너희가 알지 못하였느냐, 너희가 듣지 못하였느냐

태초(the beginning)부터 너희에게 전하여지지 아니하였느냐,

땅의 기초(foundations of the earth)가 놓일 때부터 너희가 깨닫지 못하였느냐.

22 그는 땅 위 궁창(the circle of the earth)에 앉으시나니

땅의 거주민들은 메뚜기(grasshoppers) 같으니라.

그가 하늘(heavens)을 휘장(curtain) 같이 펴셨으며

거주할 천막(tent)같이 치셨고.

23 귀족들(princes)을 폐하시며

세상의 사사들(the judges of the earth)을 헛되게 하시나니.

21 Have you not known?

Have you not heard?

Has it not been told you from the beginning?

Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,

And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,

Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,

And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

23 He brings the princes to nothing;

He makes the judges of the earth useless.

24 그들은 심겨지지 못하였고 뿌려지지 못하였고

그들의 줄기가 땅에 뿌리를 박지 못하였는데

그가 또한 입김을 불어 그들은 말라 버리고

회오리바람(whirlwind)이 그들을 검불(stubble) 같이 휩쓸어 갈 것이니라.

24 Scarcely shall they be planted,

Scarcely shall they be sown,

Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth,

When He will also blow on them,

And they will wither,

And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.

25 거룩하신 이(the Holy One)가 이르시되,

그런즉 너희가 나를 누구에게 비기며 나를 누구와 같다 하겠느냐 하셨느니라.

26 너희는 눈을 높이 들어 누가 이 모든 것(these things)을 창조하였나 보라.

그가 만상(their host)을 세어 내시고

각각 그 이름을 부르시나니

그의 권능(the greatness of His might)이 크고

그의 힘(the strength of His power)이 세므로

하나도 빠짐이 없음이라.

25 “To whom then will you liken Me,

Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high,

And see who has created these things,

Who brings out their host by number;

He calls them all by name,

By the greatness of His might

And the strength of His power;

Not one is missing.

27 야곱(Jacob)아, 어찌하여 네가 말하며 이스라엘(Israel)아 네가 이르기를

내 길은 여호와(the LORD)께 숨겨졌으며

내 송사(just claim)는 내 하나님(God)에게서 벗어났느냐 하느냐.

28 그대는 알지 못하였느냐 듣지 못하였느냐

영원하신 하나님 여호와(the everlasting God, the LORD),

땅 끝까지 창조하신 이는 피곤하지 아니하시며 곤비하지 아니하시며

그의 명철(understanding)이 한이 없으심이라.

29 피곤한 자(the weak)에게는 능력을 주시며

무능한 자에게는 힘을 더하시나니.

30 소년(youths)이라도 피곤하며 곤비하며

장정(young men)이라도 넘어지며 쓰러지되.

31 오직 여호와(the LORD)를 앙망하는 자는

새 힘을 얻으리니

독수리가 날개 치며 올라감 같을 것이요

달음박질하여도 곤비하지 아니하겠고

걸어가도 피곤하지 아니하리로다.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,

And speak, O Israel:

“My way is hidden from the LORD,

And my just claim is passed over by my God”?

28 Have you not known?

Have you not heard?

The everlasting God, the LORD,

The Creator of the ends of the earth,

Neither faints nor is weary.

His understanding is unsearchable.

29 He gives power to the weak,

And to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,

And the young men shall utterly fall,

31 But those who wait on the LORD

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint.

하나님의 도우심을 확신하는 이스라엘(Israel Assured of God’s Help).

1 섬들아(O coastlands), 내 앞에서 잠잠하라.

민족들아, 새 힘을 얻으라!

가까이 나아와 말하게 하라.

함께 가까이 나아가 심판(judgment)을 받자.

1 “Keep silence before Me, O coastlands,

And let the people renew their strength!

Let them come near, then let them speak;

Let us come near together for judgment.

2 누가 동쪽에서 일으켰느냐?

누가 의(righteousness)롭게 그를 불러 자기 발 앞에 세웠느냐?

누가 그 앞에 나라들(nations)을 넘겨주어,

그로 왕들을 다스리게 하였느냐?

누가 그들의 칼에 먼지를,

그의 활에 흩날리는 지푸라기(driven stubble)를 주었느냐?

3 누가 그들을 쫓아가서, 발로 밟아 보지도 않은 길(the way that he had not gone with his feet)을 안전하게 지나갔느냐?

4 누가 이 일을 행하고 이루었느냐,

태초(the beginning)부터 세대들(generations)을 불렀느냐?

"나 여호와(the LORD)는 처음(the first)이요,

마지막(the last) 때에도 여전히 그다(I am He)."

2 “Who raised up one from the east?

Who in righteousness called him to His feet?

Who gave the nations before him,

And made him rule over kings?

Who gave them as the dust to his sword,

As driven stubble to his bow?

3 Who pursued them, and passed safely

By the way that he had not gone with his feet?

4 Who has performed and done it,

Calling the generations from the beginning?

‘I, the LORD, am the first;

And with the last I am He.’ ”

5 섬들이 보고 두려워하며,

5 The coastlands saw it and feared,

The ends of the earth were afraid;

They drew near and came.

6 Everyone helped his neighbor,

And said to his brother,

“Be of good courage!”

7 So the craftsman encouraged the goldsmith;

He who smooths with the hammer inspired him who strikes the anvil,

Saying, “It is ready for the soldering”;

Then he fastened it with pegs,

That it might not totter.

8 그러나 너 이스라엘(Israel)아, 그대는 나의 종(My servant)이라.

내가 택한 야곱(Jacob)이라.

나의 친구 아브라함(Abraham)의 자손이라.

9 내가 그대를 땅끝(the ends of the earth)에서 데려오며,

8 “But you, Israel, are My servant,

Jacob whom I have chosen,

The descendants of Abraham My friend.

9 You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,

And called from its farthest regions,

And said to you,

‘You are My servant,

I have chosen you and have not cast you away:

10 Fear not, for I am with you;

Be not dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you,

Yes, I will help you,

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

11 보라, 네게 분노하던 모든 자들이

수치와 욕(disgraced)을 당할 것이며;

아무것도 아닌 것같이 될 것이요,

너와 다투던 자들은 멸망(perish)할 것이다.

12 네가 그들을 찾아도 만나지 못할 것이다—

너와 싸우던 자들을.

그대를 대적하여 싸우던 자들은

아무것도 아닌 것같이,

존재하지 않았던 것같이 될 것이다.

13 나 여호와(the LORD) 그대의 하나님이 네 오른손을 붙들고,

네게 말하기를 '두려워하지 말라, 내가 그대를 도우리라' 할 것임이라.

11 “Behold, all those who were incensed against you

Shall be ashamed and disgraced;

They shall be as nothing,

And those who strive with you shall perish.

12 You shall seek them and not find them—

Those who contended with you.

Those who war against you

Shall be as nothing,

As a nonexistent thing.

13 For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand,

Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

14 지렁이(worm) 같은 너 야곱(Jacob)아,

이스라엘(Israel) 사람들아, 두려워하지 말라!

내가 그대를 도우리라," 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하신다.

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel),

그대의 구원자(your Redeemer)가 말씀하신다.

15 보라, 내가 그대를 날카로운 이빨을 가진 새 타작 기구(new threshing sledge)로 만들리니;

네가 산들을 쳐서 부스러뜨리고,

언덕들을 겨(chaff)같이 만들 것이다.

16 네가 그들을 까불면 바람이 그들을 날려 버리고,

회오리바람(whirlwind)이 그들을 흩어 버릴 것이다;

그대는 여호와(the LORD) 안에서 기뻐하고,

14 “Fear not, you worm Jacob,

You men of Israel!

I will help you,” says the LORD

And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15 “Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth;

You shall thresh the mountains and beat them small,

And make the hills like chaff.

16 You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away,

And the whirlwind shall scatter them;

You shall rejoice in the LORD,

And glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 가난하고 궁핍한 자들(the poor and needy)이 물을 찾으나 없고,

목마름에 그들의 혀가 마른다.

나 여호와(the LORD)가 그들의 부르짖음을 들을 것이요;

이스라엘의 하나님(the God of Israel)인 내가 그들을 버리지 아니하리라.

18 내가 황량한 높은 곳(desolate heights)에 강들을 내고,

골짜기 가운데 샘들을 내며;

광야(wilderness)를 못(pool of water)으로 바꾸고,

마른 땅을 샘물 근원(the springs of water)으로 만들 것이다.

19 내가 광야에 백향목(cedar)과 아카시아 나무(acacia tree)를 심고,

화석류(myrtle)와 올리브나무(oil tree)를 심으며;

사막에 전나무(cypress tree)와 소나무(pine)와 잣나무(box tree)를 함께 두리니,

20 이는 그들이 보고 알며,

함께 생각하고 깨달아,

여호와의 손(the hand of the LORD)이 이 일을 행하였고,

17 “The poor and needy seek water, but there is none,

Their tongues fail for thirst.

I, the LORD, will hear them;

I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

18 I will open rivers in desolate heights,

And fountains in the midst of the valleys;

I will make the wilderness a pool of water,

And the dry land springs of water.

19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree,

The myrtle and the oil tree;

I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine

And the box tree together,

20 That they may see and know,

And consider and understand together,

That the hand of the LORD has done this,

And the Holy One of Israel has created it.

우상의 헛됨(The Futility of Idols).

21 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하신다. "너희의 주장(case)을 내놓으라."

야곱(Jacob)의 왕이 말씀하신다. "너희의 강력한 이유(reasons)들을 제시하라."

22 "그들이 나와서 앞으로 일어날 일들을 우리에게 보여 다오.

그들이 이전 일들, 그것들이 어떠했는지 보여 주어,

우리가 그것들을 깊이 생각하고,

그것들의 나중 결과(latter end)를 알게 하라.

23 "앞으로 일어날 일들을 보여 다오.

24 "보라, 너희는 아무것도 아니며(you are nothing),

21 “Present your case,” says the LORD.

“Bring forth your strong reasons,” says the King of Jacob.

22 “Let them bring forth and show us what will happen;

Let them show the former things, what they were,

That we may consider them,

And know the latter end of them;

Or declare to us things to come.

23 Show the things that are to come hereafter,

That we may know that you are gods;

Yes, do good or do evil,

That we may be dismayed and see it together.

24 Indeed you are nothing,

And your work is nothing;

He who chooses you is an abomination.

26 "누가 처음(the beginning)부터 알려 주어 우리가 알게 하였느냐?

누가 이전부터 알려 주어

우리가 '그는 의롭다(He is righteous)'고 말하게 하였느냐?

정녕히 보여 주는 자가 아무도 없고,

알려 주는 자가 아무도 없고,

너희의 말을 듣는 자가 아무도 없다."

27 내가 처음 시온(Zion)에게 이르기를,

'보라, 그들이 여기 있다!' 하였고,

내가 예루살렘(Jerusalem)에게 기쁜 소식(good tidings)을 전할 자를 줄 것이라."

28 내가 보았으나 사람이 없었고;

내가 그들 가운데서 찾았으나 조언자가 없으니,

내가 그들에게 물었을 때 한마디 대답할 자도 없었다.

29 보라, 그들은 모두 무가치하며(they are all worthless);

그들의 행위는 아무것도 아니며(Their works are nothing);

그들의 부어 만든 우상들(Their molded images)은 바람과 혼란일 뿐이라.

25 “I have raised up one from the north,

And he shall come;

From the rising of the sun he shall call on My name;

And he shall come against princes as though mortar,

As the potter treads clay.

26 Who has declared from the beginning, that we may know?

And former times, that we may say, ‘He is righteous’?

Surely there is no one who shows,

Surely there is no one who declares,

Surely there is no one who hears your words.

27 The first time I said to Zion,

‘Look, there they are!’

And I will give to Jerusalem one who brings good tidings.

28 For I looked, and there was no man;

I looked among them, but there was no counselor,

Who, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29 Indeed they are all worthless;a

Their works are nothing;

Their molded images are wind and confusion.

여호와의 종(The Servant of the LORD).

1 "보아라! 내가 붙드는 나의 종(My servant),

내 마음이 기뻐하는 나의 택한 자(My Elect One)!

내가 나의 영(My Spirit)을 그에게 두었으니,

그가 이방인(the Gentiles)에 정의(justice)를 베풀 것이라.

2 그는 외치지도 않고, 목소리를 높이지도 않으며,

거리에서 그의 목소리가 들리게 하지도 않을 것이라.

3 상한 갈대(bruised reed)를 꺾지 아니하며,

꺼져가는 심지(smoking flax)를 끄지 아니하고,

진실로 정의(justice for truth)를 베풀 것이라.

4 그는 쇠하지도 않고 낙담하지도 않으며,

마침내 세상에 정의(justice)를 세우리니,

섬들이 그의 율법(His law)을 기다릴 것이라."

1 “Behold! My Servant whom I uphold,

My Elect One in whom My soul delights!

I have put My Spirit upon Him;

He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.

2 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice,

Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.

3 A bruised reed He will not break,

And smoking flax He will not quench;

He will bring forth justice for truth.

4 He will not fail nor be discouraged,

Till He has established justice in the earth;

And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”

5 하늘을 창조하여 펼치시고,

땅과 그 안에서 나는 것을 펼치시며,

그 위에 있는 백성에게 호흡(breath)을 주시고,

그 위를 걷는 자에게 영(spirit)을 주시는

하나님 여호와(God the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

6 "나 여호와(the LORD)가 의(righteousness)로

그대를 불렀고, 그대 손을 붙들 것이며;

내가 그대를 지켜 백성의 언약(a covenant to the people)으로,

이방의 빛(a light to the Gentiles)으로 삼으리니,

7 눈먼 자들의 눈을 밝히고,

갇힌 자를 감옥에서 이끌어 내며,

어둠 속에 앉은 자를 감옥에서 나오게 하리라.

8 나는 여호와(the LORD)이니, 이는 내 이름(My name)이라.

나는 내 영광(My glory)을 다른 자에게 주지 아니하며,

내 찬송(My praise)을 새긴 우상에게 주지 아니하리라.

9 보라, 이전 일들(the former things)이 이루어졌으니,

새 일들(new things)을 내가 알리노라.

그것들이 솟아나기 전에 내가 너희에게 말하노라."

여호와께 드리는 찬양(Praise to the LORD).

10 새 노래(a new song)로 여호와(the LORD)께 노래하며,

땅 끝(the ends of the earth)에서부터 그의 찬송을 부르라.

바다로 내려가는 자들과 그 안에 있는 모든 것들아,

섬들과 그 거주민들아!

11 광야(wilderness)와 그 성읍들(its cities)이 소리를 높이며,

게달(Kedar)이 거하는 마을들(villages)이 그러할지어다.

셀라(Sela)의 거주민들이 노래하며,

산꼭대기에서 외칠지어다.

12 그들이 여호와(the LORD)께 영광을 돌리고,

섬들에서 그의 찬송을 전파할지어다.

13 여호와(the LORD)께서 용사(a mighty man)같이 나아가시며,

전사(a man of war)같이 그의 열정(His zeal)을 일으키시리라.

그가 외치시며, 큰 소리로 부르짖으시리니,

그가 그의 대적들을 이기시리라.

5 Thus says God the LORD,

Who created the heavens and stretched them out,

Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it,

Who gives breath to the people on it,

And spirit to those who walk on it:

6 “I, the LORD, have called You in righteousness,

And will hold Your hand;

I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,

As a light to the Gentiles,

7 To open blind eyes,

To bring out prisoners from the prison,

Those who sit in darkness from the prison house.

8 I am the LORD, that is My name;

And My glory I will not give to another,

Nor My praise to carved images.

9 Behold, the former things have come to pass,

And new things I declare;

Before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

Praise to the LORD

10 Sing to the LORD a new song,

And His praise from the ends of the earth,

You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,

You coastlands and you inhabitants of them!

11 Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice,

The villages that Kedar inhabits.

Let the inhabitants of Sela sing,

Let them shout from the top of the mountains.

12 Let them give glory to the LORD,

And declare His praise in the coastlands.

13 The LORD shall go forth like a mighty man;

He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war.

He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud;

He shall prevail against His enemies.

여호와의 도우심에 대한 약속(Promise of the LORD’s Help).

14 "내가 오랫동안 잠잠하였고,

가만히 참고 내 자신을 억제하였도다.

이제 내가 해산하는 여인(a woman in labor)같이 부르짖으며,

숨을 헐떡이며 동시에 신음하리라.

15 내가 산들과 언덕들을 황폐하게 하고,

그 모든 초목(their vegetation)을 말리며;

강들을 섬(coastlands)으로 만들고,

못들(pools)을 말리리라.

16 내가 눈먼 자들을 그들이 알지 못하는 길(a way they did not know)로 인도하며;

그들이 알지 못하는 오솔길(paths they have not known)로 그들을 이끌리라.

내가 그들 앞에서 어둠을 빛으로 바꾸고,

굽은 곳(crooked places)을 곧게 하리라.

내가 그들을 위하여 이 일들을 행하고,

그들을 버리지 아니하리라.

17 새긴 우상(carved images)을 의지하며,

부어 만든 우상(molded images)에게

'너희는 우리의 신들'이라 말하는 자들은

뒤로 물러가 크게 수치를 당하리라.

14 “I have held My peace a long time,

I have been still and restrained Myself.

Now I will cry like a woman in labor,

I will pant and gasp at once.

15 I will lay waste the mountains and hills,

And dry up all their vegetation;

I will make the rivers coastlands,

And I will dry up the pools.

16 I will bring the blind by a way they did not know;

I will lead them in paths they have not known.

I will make darkness light before them,

And crooked places straight.

These things I will do for them,

And not forsake them.

17 They shall be turned back,

They shall be greatly ashamed,

Who trust in carved images,

Who say to the molded images,

‘You are our gods.’

18 너희 귀머거리들아, 들으라;

너희 눈먼 자들아, 밝히 보라.

19 내 종(My servant) 외에 누가 눈멀었으며,

내가 보내는 나의 사자(My messenger)같이 누가 귀머거리인가?

온전한 자같이 누가 눈멀었으며,

여호와의 종(the LORD’s servant)같이 누가 눈멀었는가?

20 많은 것을 보았으나 깨닫지 못하고;

귀를 열었으나 듣지 아니하는도다."

18 “Hear, you deaf;

And look, you blind, that you may see.

19 Who is blind but My servant,

Or deaf as My messenger whom I send?

Who is blind as he who is perfect,

And blind as the LORD’s servant?

20 Seeing many things, but you do not observe;

Opening the ears, but he does not hear.”

이스라엘의 완고한 불순종(Israel’s Obstinate Disobedience).

21 여호와(the LORD)께서 그의 의(His righteousness)로 기뻐하시나니;

그가 율법(the law)을 높여 존귀하게 여기시리로다.

22 그러나 이 백성은 약탈당하고 강탈당하였으니;

그들 모두 굴(holes) 속에 잡히고,

감옥에 갇혔도다;

그들은 노략거리가 되었으나 구원하는 자가 없고;

강탈당하였으나 회복시키라 말하는 자가 없도다.

21 The LORD is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake;

He will exalt the law and make it honorable.

22 But this is a people robbed and plundered;

All of them are snared in holes,

And they are hidden in prison houses;

They are for prey, and no one delivers;

For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!”

23 너희 중에 누가 이 일에 귀 기울이겠으며?

누가 장래를 위하여 듣고 깨닫겠는가?

24 누가 야곱(Jacob)을 노략거리로,

이스라엘(Israel)을 강탈자들에게 넘겨주었느냐(?

우리가 죄를 지은 여호와(the LORD)가 아니시냐?

그들이 그의 길로 다니려 하지 아니하며,

그의 율법(His law)에 순종하지 아니하였음이라.

25 그러므로 그가 그 진노의 맹렬함과

전쟁의 힘을 그에게 쏟으셨도다;

그것이 그를 두루 태웠으나 깨닫지 못하였고;

그가 불탔으나 마음에 두지 아니하였도다.

23 Who among you will give ear to this?

Who will listen and hear for the time to come?

24 Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers?

Was it not the LORD,

He against whom we have sinned?

For they would not walk in His ways,

Nor were they obedient to His law.

25 Therefore He has poured on him the fury of His anger

And the strength of battle;

It has set him on fire all around,

Yet he did not know;

And it burned him,

Yet he did not take it to heart.

이스라엘의 구원자(The Redeemer of Israel).

1 그러나 이제 네 야곱(Jacob)아,

그대를 창조하신 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하신다.

이스라엘(Israel)아,

그대를 지으신 이가 말씀하신다.

"두려워하지 말라((Fear not),

내가 그대를 구속(redeemed)하였음이라((for I have redeemed you).

내가 그대를 그대 이름(your name)으로 불렀으니,

그대는 내 것이라(You are Mine)."

2 네가 물(the waters) 가운데로 지날 때, 내가 너와 함께할 것이며(be with you),

강물(the rivers)을 지날 때, 그 강물((the rivers)이 그대를 덮치지 못할 것이라.

네가 불(the fire) 가운데로 걸어갈 때, 타버리지 아니할 것이며,

불꽃(the flame)이 그대를 태워버리지도 못할 것이라.

3 나는 여호와(the LORD) 네 하나님(your God),

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel), 네 구원자(your Savior)임이라.

내가 이집트(Egypt)를 그대의 몸값(ransom)으로,

에티오피아(Ethiopia)와 스바(Seba)를 네 대신 주었느니라.

4 네가 그대 눈에 보배롭고,

존귀하게 여김을 받았으며,

내가 그대를 사랑하였음이라;

그러므로 내가 사람들을 그대 대신 내어 주며,

백성들을 네 생명 대신 주리라.

5 두려워하지 말라, 내가 그대와 함께 함이라.

내가 그대 자손을 동쪽에서부터 오게 하며,

서쪽에서부터 그대를 모을 것이라.

6 내가 북쪽에게 이르기를 '내놓으라!‘ 하며,

남쪽에게 이르기를 '붙잡아 두지 말라!' 하리라.

내 아들들을 먼 곳에서부터,

내 딸들을 땅 끝에서부터 데려오라—

7 내 이름으로 불리는 모든 자,

내가 내 영광(My glory)을 위하여 창조한 자,

내가 그를 지었고, 참으로 내가 그를 만들었느니라.”

1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,

And He who formed you, O Israel:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by your name;

You are Mine.

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

Nor shall the flame scorch you.

3 For I am the LORD your God,

The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

I gave Egypt for your ransom,

Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

4 Since you were precious in My sight,

You have been honored,

And I have loved you;

Therefore I will give men for you,

And people for your life.

5 Fear not, for I am with you;

I will bring your descendants from the east,

And gather you from the west;

6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’

And to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’

Bring My sons from afar,

And My daughters from the ends of the earth—

7 Everyone who is called by My name,

Whom I have created for My glory;

I have formed him, yes, I have made him.”

8 눈이 있어도 보지 못하는 소경을 이끌어 내고,

귀가 있어도 듣지 못하는 귀머거리를 이끌어 내라.

9 모든 나라들은 함께 모이고,

민족들(the people)은 함께 모일지어다.

그들 중에 누가 이 일을 알려 주며,

이전 일들(former things)을 우리에게 보여 줄 수 있느냐?

그들이 그들의 증인들을 내놓아 그들이 의롭다 함을 얻게 하거나,

그들이 듣고 "참이라(It is truth)" 말하게 하라.

10 "너희는 나의 증인들이라," 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하신다.

"내가 택한 나의 종(My servant)이라.

이는 너희가 나를 알고 믿으며,

내가 그인 줄 깨닫게 하려 함이라.

나의 전에 지어진 신이 없었고,

나의 후에도 없으리라.

11 나 곧 나는 여호와(the LORD)이니,

나 외에는 구원자가 없느니라.

12 내가 알리고 구원하였으며(,

내가 선포하였으니

너희 중에 다른 신(no foreign god)이 없었느니라.

그러므로 너희는 나의 증인들이라,"

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하신다, "내가 하나님(God)이라.

13 참으로 날이 있기 전부터 내가 그이니(I am He),

내 손에서 건져낼 자가 아무도 없느니라;

내가 일하면 누가 그것을 되돌리겠느냐?"

8 Bring out the blind people who have eyes,

And the deaf who have ears.

9 Let all the nations be gathered together,

And let the people be assembled.

Who among them can declare this,

And show us former things?

Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified;

Or let them hear and say, “It is truth.”

10 “You are My witnesses,” says the LORD,

“And My servant whom I have chosen,

That you may know and believe Me,

And understand that I am He.

Before Me there was no God formed,

Nor shall there be after Me.

11 I, even I, am the LORD,

And besides Me there is no savior.

12 I have declared and saved,

I have proclaimed,

And there was no foreign god among you;

Therefore you are My witnesses,”

Says the LORD, “that I am God.

13 Indeed before the day was, I am He;

And there is no one who can deliver out of My hand;

I work, and who will reverse it?”

14 너희의 구원자(your Redeemer)이시며,

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel)이신

여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

"너희를 위하여 내가 바벨론(Babylon)에 보내어,

그들 모두를 도망자같이 끌어내리리니—

그들의 배들을 자랑하는 갈대아 사람들(the Chaldeans)이라.

15 나는 여호와(the LORD) 너희의 거룩한 이(your Holy One),

이스라엘의 창조자(the Creator of Israel), 너희의 왕이니라."

14 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,

The Holy One of Israel:

“For your sake I will send to Babylon,

And bring them all down as fugitives—

The Chaldeans, who rejoice in their ships.

15 I am the LORD, your Holy One,

The Creator of Israel, your King.”

16 바다에 길을 내시고,

강한 물 가운데로 길을 내시는,

여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

17 병거와 말(the chariot and horse),

군대와 용사(The army and the power)를 이끌어 내는 이가 말씀하신다.

(그들이 함께 엎드러지고 일어나지 못하며;

그들은 꺼졌고, 등불 심지같이 꺼졌느니라):

18 "너희는 이전 일들(the former things)을 기억하지 말며,

옛날 일들(the things of old)을 생각하지 말라.

19 보라, 내가 새 일(a new thing)을 행하리니,

이제 그것이 솟아날 것이라;

너희가 그것을 알지 못하겠느냐?

내가 광야에 길(a road in the wilderness)을 내고

사막에 강들(rivers in the desert)을 내리라.

20 들짐승(The beast of the field)

곧 자칼(the jackals)과 타조(the ostriches)도 나를 존경할 것은

내가 광야에 물을 주고

사막에 강들,

나의 백성, 나의 택한 자에게 마시게 할 것임이라.

21 이 백성은 내가 나를 위하여 지었나니;

그들이 나의 찬송(My praise)을 전파할 것이라."

16 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea

And a path through the mighty waters,

17 Who brings forth the chariot and horse,

The army and the power

(They shall lie down together, they shall not rise;

They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick):

18 “Do not remember the former things,

Nor consider the things of old.

19 Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

20 The beast of the field will honor Me,

The jackals and the ostriches,

Because I give waters in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert,

To give drink to My people, My chosen.

21 This people I have formed for Myself;

They shall declare My praise.

신실하지 못한 이스라엘에 대한 탄원(Pleading with Unfaithful Israel).

22 "그러나 너 야곱(Jacob)아, 나를 부르지 아니하였고;

너 이스라엘(Israel)아, 나를 싫어하였느니라.

23 그대는 그대들 번제(your burnt offerings)의 양을 내게로 가져오지 아니하였고

네 제물로 나를 존경하지 아니하였느니라.

나는 그대에게 곡물 제물로 섬기게 하지 아니하였고,

향으로 그대를 괴롭게 하지 아니하였느니라.

24 그대는 돈으로 향기로운 갈대(sweet cane)를 사지 아니하였고,

네 제물의 기름으로 나를 만족하게 하지 아니하였느니라;

오히려 그대는 네 죄(your sins)로 나를 무겁게 하고,

네 불의(your iniquities)로 나를 피곤하게 하였느니라.

22 “But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob;

And you have been weary of Me, O Israel.

23 You have not brought Me the sheep for your burnt offerings,

Nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices.

I have not caused you to serve with grain offerings,

Nor wearied you with incense.

24 You have bought Me no sweet cane with money,

Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices;

But you have burdened Me with your sins,

You have wearied Me with your iniquities.

25 나 곧 나는 나를 위하여 네 허물(your transgressions)을 지우는 자니;

네 죄(your sins)를 기억하지 아니하리라.

26 나를 생각나게 하라;

함께 변론하자;

네 의로움을 드러내라(State your case).

27 네 시조(your first father)가 죄를 지었고,

네 중보자들(your mediators)이 나를 거역하였느니라.

28 그러므로 내가 성소의 통치자들(the princes of the sanctuary)을 더럽히고;

야곱(Jacob)을 저주(the curse)에 내어 주며,

이스라엘(Israel)을 비방(reproaches)에 내어 주리라."

25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake;

And I will not remember your sins.

26 Put Me in remembrance;

Let us contend together;

State your case, that you may be acquitted.

27 Your first father sinned,

And your mediators have transgressed against Me.

28 Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary;

I will give Jacob to the curse,

And Israel to reproaches.

이사야서 44장

이스라엘에 대한 하나님의 축복(God’s Blessing on Israel).

1 그러나 이제 들으라, 나의 종(My servant) 야곱(Jacob)아,

내가 택한 이스라엘(Israel)아.

2 그대를 만들고 모태(the womb)에서부터 그대를 지은,

그대를 도울 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

'두려워하지 말라(Fear not), 나의 종(My servant) 야곱(Jacob)아;

내가 택한 여수룬(Jeshurun)아.

3 내가 목마른 자(thirsty)에게 물을 부어 주며,

마른 땅(dry ground)에 시냇물을 흘러내리게 할 것이라;

내가 나의 영(My Spirit)을 네 자손에게,

나의 복(My blessing)을 네 후손에게 부어 주리니;

4 그들이 풀 가운데에서 솟아나기를

시냇가 버들(willows by the watercourses)같이 할 것이라.'

5 어떤 이는 이르기를 '나는 여호와(the LORD)의 것이라' 할 것이며;

어떤 이는 야곱(Jacob)의 이름으로 자기를 부를 것이며;

어떤 이는 손으로 기록하기를 '여호와(the LORD)의 것이라' 하고,

이스라엘(Israel)의 이름으로 자기를 칭하리라.

1 “Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant,

And Israel whom I have chosen.

2 Thus says the LORD who made you

And formed you from the womb, who will help you:

‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant;

And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,

And floods on the dry ground;

I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,

And My blessing on your offspring;

4 They will spring up among the grass

Like willows by the watercourses.’

5 One will say, ‘I am the LORD’s’;

Another will call himself by the name of Jacob;

Another will write with his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’

And name himself by the name of Israel.

다른 신은 없음(There Is No Other God).

6 이스라엘의 왕(the King of Israel)이시며,

그의 구원자(his Redeemer)이시며,

만군의 여호와(the LORD of hosts)이신 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

'나는 처음(the First)이요 나는 마지막(the Last)이라;

7 누가 나처럼 외칠 수 있으며?

그가 알려 내게 제시하여,

내가 옛 백성을 세운 이후로 그러하였느니라.

다가올(coming) 일들과 장차 올(shall come) 일들을,

그들에게 보여주라.

8 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말라;

그때부터 내가 네게 알리지 아니하였으며 말하지 아니하였느냐?

너희는 나의 증인들(My witnesses)이라.

나 외에 신이 있느냐?

참으로 다른 반석(other Rock)은 없나니;

나는 하나도 알지 못하노라.

6 “Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel,

And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:

‘I am the First and I am the Last;

Besides Me there is no God.

7 And who can proclaim as I do?

Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me,

Since I appointed the ancient people.

And the things that are coming and shall come,

Let them show these to them.

8 Do not fear, nor be afraid;

Have I not told you from that time, and declared it?

You are My witnesses.

Is there a God besides Me?

Indeed there is no other Rock;

I know not one.’ ”

우상숭배(Idolatry)는 어리석음임(Idolatry Is Foolishness)

9 우상을 만드는(image) 자들은 다 헛되며,

그들이 귀하게 여기는 것들은 무익하니;

그들은 스스로 증인이 되나니;

보지도 못하고 알지도 못하니, 수치를 당할 것이라.

10 무익한 신을 만들며 형상(image)을 부어 만드는 자가 누구냐?

11 보라, 그의 동료들(companions)이 다 수치를 당할 것이요;

그 기술자들(workmen)도 인간일 뿐이라.

그들이 다 모여서게 하라;

그들이 두려워하며 함께 수치를 당하리라.

9 Those who make an image, all of them are useless,

And their precious things shall not profit;

They are their own witnesses;

They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed.

10 Who would form a god or mold an image

That profits him nothing?

11 Surely all his companions would be ashamed;

And the workmen, they are mere men.

Let them all be gathered together,

Let them stand up;

Yet they shall fear,

They shall be ashamed together.

12 철공(blacksmith)은 집게(tongs)로 숯불(coals)에서 일하며,

망치(hammers)로 그것을 만들고,

팔 힘(strength of his arms)으로 그것을 두드린다.

심지어 배고파 힘이 빠지며;

물을 마시지 않아 피곤하다.

12 The blacksmith with the tongs works one in the coals,

Fashions it with hammers,

And works it with the strength of his arms.

Even so, he is hungry, and his strength fails;

He drinks no water and is faint.

13 목공(craftsman)은 줄자(rule)를 늘여 재고,

먹줄(chalk)로 표시하며;

대패(plane)로 다듬고;

자(compass)로 재며;

사람의 형상(figure of a man)대로 만들되,

사람의 아름다움(beauty of a man)에 따라 만들어 집에 두려한다.

14 그는 스스로 백향목(cedars)을 베고,

사이프러스(cypress)와 상수리나무(oak)를 취하며;

숲속 나무들 가운데에서 스스로 튼튼하게 하고.

소나무를 심으면 비가 그것을 기른다.

13 The craftsman stretches out his rule,

He marks one out with chalk;

He fashions it with a plane,

He marks it out with the compass,

And makes it like the figure of a man,

According to the beauty of a man, that it may remain in the house.

14 He cuts down cedars for himself,

And takes the cypress and the oak;

He secures it for himself among the trees of the forest.

He plants a pine, and the rain nourishes it.

15 그것이 사람에게 땔감이 되나니,

그가 그것을 가져다가 몸을 녹이고;

불을 붙여 빵을 굽기도 하며;

신을 만들어 경배하고;

우상(carved image)을 만들어 그것 앞에 엎드려 절한다.

16 그는 그것의 절반은 불에 태우고;

그 나머지 절반으로는 고기를 먹으며;

구이(roast)를 하여 배불리 먹고.

몸을 녹이며 말하기를,

"아하! 따뜻하다! 불을 보았도다." 한다.

17 그 나머지는 신 곧 우상(carved image)으로 만들어.

그 앞에 엎드려 경배하며,

기도하여 이르기를,

"나를 구원하소서(Deliver me), 당신은 나의 신이시니이다!" 한다.

15 Then it shall be for a man to burn,

For he will take some of it and warm himself;

Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread;

Indeed he makes a god and worships it;

He makes it a carved image, and falls down to it.

16 He burns half of it in the fire;

With this half he eats meat;

He roasts a roast, and is satisfied.

He even warms himself and says,

“Ah! I am warm,

I have seen the fire.”

17 And the rest of it he makes into a god,

His carved image.

He falls down before it and worships it,

Prays to it and says,

“Deliver me, for you are my god!”

18 그들은 알지도 못하고 깨닫지도 못하나니;

이는 그가 그들의 눈을 가리어 보지 못하게 하시고,

그들의 마음을 가리어 깨닫지 못하게 하셨음이라.

19 마음에 생각하지도 않고,

알지도 못하고 깨닫지도 못하여 말하지도 아니하나니,

"내가 그것의 절반을 불에 태우고,

그 숯불에 빵도 굽고 고기도 구워 먹었거늘;

그 나머지를 가증한 것(an abomination)으로 만들겠느냐?

나무 덩어리(block of wood) 앞에 엎드려 절하겠느냐?" 한다.

20 그는 재를 먹고;

미혹된 마음(deceived heart)이 그를 그릇되게 하였으므로;

그는 자기 영혼을 구원하지 못하며,

자기 오른손에 거짓이 없다고 말하지도 못한다.

18 They do not know nor understand;

For He has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see,

And their hearts, so that they cannot understand.

19 And no one considers in his heart,

Nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say,

“I have burned half of it in the fire,

Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals;

I have roasted meat and eaten it;

And shall I make the rest of it an abomination?

Shall I fall down before a block of wood?”

20 He feeds on ashes;

A deceived heart has turned him aside;

And he cannot deliver his soul,

Nor say, “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”

잊혀지지 않는 이스라엘(Israel Is Not Forgotten).

21 야곱(Jacob)아, 이 일들을 기억하라.

이스라엘(Israel)아, 그대는 나의 종(My servant)이라;

내가 그대를 지었으니, 그대는 나의 종(My servant)이라;

이스라엘(Israel)아, 그대는 나에게 잊혀지지 아니하리라!

22 내가 짙은 구름같이(thick cloud) 네 허물을,

안개같이 네 죄를 없이하였으니(blotted out).

내게로 돌아오라, 내가 그대를 구속하였음이니라(redeemed).

21 “Remember these, O Jacob,

And Israel, for you are My servant;

I have formed you, you are My servant;

O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me!

22 I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions,

And like a cloud, your sins.

Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

23 하늘아, 노래하라(Sing, O heavens),

여호와(the LORD)께서 이 일을 행하셨음이라!

땅의 깊은 곳들아, 외쳐라;

산들아, 숲과 그 가운데 모든 나무들아, 노래하며 터져 나올지어다!

여호와(the LORD)께서 야곱(Jacob)을 구속하시고(redeemed),

이스라엘(Israel) 가운데에서 그의 영광을 나타내셨음이라.

23 Sing, O heavens, for the LORD has done it!

Shout, you lower parts of the earth;

Break forth into singing, you mountains,

O forest, and every tree in it!

For the LORD has redeemed Jacob,

And glorified Himself in Israel.

유다(Judah)가 회복될 것임(Judah Will Be Restored)

24 그대를 모태(the womb)에서부터 지으신

그대의 구원자(your Redeemer)이신 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

"나는 만물을 지은 여호와라.

홀로 하늘을 폈으며,

나 스스로 땅을 펼쳤느니라;

25 나는 수다쟁이들의 징조(signs of the babblers)를 헛되게 하며,

점쟁이들(diviners)을 미치게 하고;

지혜로운 자들(wise men)을 뒤로 물리치고,

그들의 지식(knowledge)을 어리석게 만들며;

26 그의 종의 말(word of His servant)을 확증하고,

그의 사자들의 계획(counsel of His messengers)을 이루며;

예루살렘(Jerusalem)에게 이르기를 '그대는 거주하게 될 것이라' 하며,

유다(Judah)의 성읍들에게 이르기를 '너희는 건축될 것이라' 하고,

내가 그 황폐한 곳들(waste places)을 일으켜 세우리라;

27 깊은 물에게 이르기를 '마르라!'

내가 네 강들을 마르게 하리라';

28 고레스(Cyrus)에 대하여 이르기를 '그는 나의 목자(My shepherd)라.

그가 나의 모든 기쁨(all My pleasure)을 이룰 것이라,

예루살렘(Jerusalem)에게 이르기를 "그대는 건축될 것이라," 하며

성전(the temple)에게 이르기를 "네 기초(foundation)가 놓일 것이라." ' 하였느니라."

24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer,

And He who formed you from the womb:

“I am the LORD, who makes all things,

Who stretches out the heavens all alone,

Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;

25 Who frustrates the signs of the babblers,

And drives diviners mad;

Who turns wise men backward,

And makes their knowledge foolishness;

26 Who confirm‎‎s the word of His servant,

And performs the counsel of His messengers;

Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’

To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’

And I will raise up her waste places;

27 Who says to the deep, ‘Be dry!

And I will dry up your rivers’;

28 Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd,

And he shall perform all My pleasure,

Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,”

And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.” ’

고레스, 하나님의 도구(Cyrus, God’s Instrument)

1 여호와(the LORD)께서 그의 기름 부음 받은 자,

고레스(Cyrus)에게 이같이 말씀하신다. 내가 그의 오른손을 붙들고—

그 앞에 나라들을 복종시키며,

왕들의 갑옷(the armor of kings)을 벗기며,

그 앞에 두 짝 문(the double doors)을 열어,

성문들이 닫히지 않게 하리라.

2 내가 그대 앞에서 가며,

험한 곳(the crooked places)을 평탄하게 하며;

놋문(the gates of bronze)을 부수며;

쇠빗장(the bars of iron)을 꺾으리라.

3 내가 그대에게 흑암의 보물(the treasures of darkness)과

숨겨진 은밀한 곳의 재물(the hidden riches of secret places)을 주어,

그대 이름으로 그대를 부르는 나 여호와(the LORD),

이스라엘(the God of Israel)인 줄을 네가 알게 하리라.

4 나의 종(My servant) 야곱(Jacob)과

내가 택한 이스라엘(Israel)을 위하여,

내가 네 이름을 불러 그대를 지명하였나니;

그대는 나를 알지 못하였을지라도 내가 그대를 임명하였느니라.

5 나는 여호와(the LORD)라, 나 외에는 다른 이가 없나니;

나 외에는 하나님(the God)이 없느니라.

네가 나를 알지 못하였을지라도 내가 네 허리를 동여매었나니,

6 이는 해 뜨는 곳에서부터 지는 곳까지

나 외에는 다른 이가 없는 줄을 그들이 알게 하려 함이라.

나는 여호와(the LORD)라, 나 외에는 다른 이가 없느니라;

7 나는 빛(the light)을 지으며 어둠(the darkness)을 창조하며,

평안(peace)을 만들며 재앙(calamity)을 창조하나니;

나 여호와(the LORD)가 이 모든 일을 행하는 자니라.

1 “Thus says the LORD to His anointed,

To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—

To subdue nations before him

And loose the armor of kings,

To open before him the double doors,

So that the gates will not be shut:

2 ‘I will go before you

And make the crooked placesa straight;

I will break in pieces the gates of bronze

And cut the bars of iron.

3 I will give you the treasures of darkness

And hidden riches of secret places,

That you may know that I, the LORD,

Who call you by your name,

Am the God of Israel.

4 For Jacob My servant’s sake,

And Israel My elect,

I have even called you by your name;

I have named you, though you have not known Me.

5 I am the LORD, and there is no other;

There is no God besides Me.

I will gird you, though you have not known Me,

6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting

That there is none besides Me.

I am the LORD, and there is no other;

7 I form the light and create darkness,

I make peace and create calamity;

I, the LORD, do all these things.’

8 그대들 하늘(the heavens)아, 위에서부터 이슬을 내리며,

구름(the skies)아, 의(righteousness)를 쏟아 부을지어다;

땅(the earth)아, 열려 구원(salvation)을 내고,

의(righteousness)도 함께 솟아나게 할지어다.

나 여호와(the LORD)가 이것을 창조하였느니라.

8 “Rain down, you heavens, from above,

And let the skies pour down righteousness;

Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation,

And let righteousness spring up together.

I, the LORD, have created it.

9 자기의 창조주(his Maker)와 다투는 자에게 화 있을진저!

질그릇 조각(the potsherd)이 땅의 질그릇 조각들(the potsherds)과 다툴진저!

진흙(the clay)이 그것을 빚는 자에게 이르기를 '네가 무엇을 만드느냐?' 하겠으며,

네 손으로 만든 것이 이르기를 '그에게 손이 없다' 하겠느냐?

10 아버지(the father)에게 이르기를 '네가 무엇을 낳았느냐?' 하며,

여인에게 이르기를 '네가 무엇을 낳았느냐?' 하는 자에게 화 있을진저!

9 “Woe to him who strives with his Maker!

Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!

Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’

Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?

10 Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’

Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?’ ”

11 이스라엘(the Holy One of Israel)의 거룩한 이시요, 그를 지으신 이(his Maker)이신 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

"그대들은 장래 일(the things to come)에 대하여 내 아들들에게 물으며;

내 손으로 하는 일(the work of My hands)에 대하여 내게 명령하려느냐?

12 내가 땅을 만들고,

그 위에 사람을 창조하였으며.

내가—내 손으로—하늘을 폈고,

그 모든 군대에게 명령하였느니라.

13 내가 의(righteousness)로 그를 일으켰은즉,

그의 모든 길(all his ways)을 곧게 하리니;

그가 나의 성읍(My city)을 건축할 것이며,

나의 포로들(My exiles)을 값이나 보상 없이 놓아 보낼 것이라,"

만군의 여호와(the LORD of hosts)께서 말씀하신다.

“Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons;

And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.

12 I have made the earth,

And created man on it.

I—My hands—stretched out the heavens,

And all their host I have commanded.

13 I have raised him up in righteousness,

And I will direct all his ways;

He shall build My city

And let My exiles go free,

Not for price nor reward,”

Says the LORD of hosts.

오직 한 분이신 구원자 여호와(The LORD, the Only Savior)

14 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

"이집트(Egypt)의 수고한 것과 구스(Cush)의 무역한 것과

스바 사람들(the Sabeans), 키가 큰 사람들(the men of stature)이

네게로 건너와 네 것이 될 것이요;

그들이 네 뒤를 따르며,

사슬에 매여 건너와 네게 굴복하고,

네게 간구하여 이르기를 '정녕히 하나님(God)이 네 안에 계시고,

다른 이가 없으며;

다른 하나님(other God)이 없다' 하리라."

15 구원자(the Savior)이신 이스라엘(the God of Israel)이여,

진실로 주는 스스로 숨어 계시는 하나님이시니이다!

16 우상을 만드는 자들(the makers of idols)은

다 수치를 당하며 욕을 먹을 것이요;

함께 당황하여 나아갈 것이라.

17 그러나 이스라엘(Israel)은 영원한 구원(the everlasting salvation)으로

여호와(the LORD)께 구원을 받으리니;

영원히 수치를 당하거나 욕을 먹지 아니하리라.

14 Thus says the LORD:

“The labor of Egypt and merchandise of Cush

And of the Sabeans, men of stature,

Shall come over to you, and they shall be yours;

They shall walk behind you,

They shall come over in chains;

And they shall bow down to you.

They will make supplication to you, saying, ‘Surely God is in you,

And there is no other;

There is no other God.’ ”

15 Truly You are God, who hide Yourself,

O God of Israel, the Savior!

16 They shall be ashamed

And also disgraced, all of them;

They shall go in confusion together,

Who are makers of idols.

17 But Israel shall be saved by the LORD

With an everlasting salvation;

You shall not be ashamed or disgraced

Forever and ever.

18 하늘을 창조하신,

하나님이시며,

땅을 지으시고 만드신,

그것을 굳게 세우시고,

헛되이 창조하지 아니하시고,

사람이 거주하게 지으신 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다.

"나는 여호와(the LORD)라, 나 외에는 다른 이가 없느니라.

19 나는 은밀한 곳에서 말하지 아니하였고,

땅의 어두운 곳에서 말하지 아니하였으며;

야곱(Jacob)의 자손에게 이르기를,

'그대들은 헛되이 나를 찾으라' 하지 아니하였노라;

나 여호와(the LORD)는 의(righteousness)를 말하며,

옳은 것을 밝히 드러내느니라.

18 For thus says the LORD,

Who created the heavens,

Who is God,

Who formed the earth and made it,

Who has established it,

Who did not create it in vain,

Who formed it to be inhabited:

“I am the LORD, and there is no other.

19 I have not spoken in secret,

In a dark place of the earth;

I did not say to the seed of Jacob,

‘Seek Me in vain’;

I, the LORD, speak righteousness,

I declare things that are right.

20 그대들은 모여 와서 함께 가까이 나아오라,

나라들!

그들은 알지 못하나니,

자기들의 나무 우상(the wood of their carved image)을 옮기며,

구원하지 못하는 신(a god that cannot save)에게 기도하는 자들이라.

21 알리며 그대들의 사건(your case)을 제시하라;

참으로 그들이 함께 의논하게 하라.

누가 옛적부터 이 일을 알게 하였으며?

누가 그때부터 그것을 말하였느냐?

나 여호와(the LORD)가 아니냐?

나 외에는 다른 하나님(no other God besides Me)이 없나니,

공의로운 하나님(a just God)이요 구원자(a Savior)이라;

나 외에는 아무도 없느니라.

20 “Assemble yourselves and come;

Draw near together,

You who have escaped from the nations.

They have no knowledge,

Who carry the wood of their carved image,

And pray to a god that cannot save.

21 Tell and bring forth your case;

Yes, let them take counsel together.

Who has declared this from ancient time?

Who has told it from that time?

Have not I, the LORD?

And there is no other God besides Me,

A just God and a Savior;

There is none besides Me.

22 땅의 모든 끝이여! 내게로 향하여 구원을 받으라!

나는 하나님(God)이라, 다른 이가 없느니라.

23 내가 나를 두고 맹세하였으니,

나의 입에서 의(righteousness)로 말이 나갔은즉(, 돌아오지 아니할 것이라.

내게 모든 무릎이 꿇겠고,

모든 혀(every tongue)가 맹세하리라.

24 그가 말하기를,

'정녕 여호와(the LORD)께는 의(righteousness)와 힘(strength)이 있나니.

사람들이 그에게로 나아갈 것이요,

그에게 격분하는 모든 자들은 수치를 당하리라.

25 이스라엘(Israel)의 모든 자손은

여호와(the LORD) 안에서 의롭다 함을 얻고.' "

22 “Look to Me, and be saved,

All you ends of the earth!

For I am God, and there is no other.

23 I have sworn by Myself;

The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,

And shall not return,

That to Me every knee shall bow,

Every tongue shall take an oath.

24 He shall say,

‘Surely in the LORD I have righteousness and strength.

To Him men shall come,

And all shall be ashamed

Who are incensed against Him.

25 In the LORD all the descendants of Israel

Shall be justified, and shall glory.’ ”

죽은 우상과 살아 계신 하나님(Dead Idols and the Living God)

1 벨(Bel)은 엎드러지고, 느보(Nebo)는 구부러졌으니;

그들의 우상(idols)들은 짐승과 가축 위에 실렸음이라.

그대들이 실은 것은 무겁게 실려,

지친 짐승에게 짐이 되었도다.

2 그들은 함께 구부러지고 엎드러졌으나;

그 짐(the burden)을 구원하지 못하고,

도리어 자기들이 사로잡혀 갔느니라.

1 Bel bows down, Nebo stoops;

Their idols were on the beasts and on the cattle.

Your carriages were heavily loaded,

A burden to the weary beast.

2 They stoop, they bow down together;

They could not deliver the burden,

But have themselves gone into captivity.

3 야곱의 집(house of Jacob)과

이스라엘(Israel) 집의 남은 모든 자들아, 내게 들으라,

그대들(You)은 태어날 때부터 내게 붙들렸고,

모태(the womb)에서부터 안겨 온 자들이라:

4 그대들이 늙기까지 내가 그이(He)니,

희끗한 머리털이 나기까지 내가 그대들을 안을 것이라!

내가 지었은즉 내가 또한 담당할 것이요;

내가 정녕히 안을 것이요 또한 그대들을 구원하리라.

3 “Listen to Me, O house of Jacob,

And all the remnant of the house of Israel,

Who have been upheld by Me from birth,

Who have been carried from the womb:

4 Even to your old age, I am He,

And even to gray hairs I will carry you!

I have made, and I will bear;

Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

5 그대들이 나를 누구에게 비기며, 나와 같게 하며

나를 견주어 우리가 같다고 하겠느냐?

6 그들은 주머니에서 금을 쏟아내고,

저울에 은을 달아;

금 세공장이(a goldsmith)를 고용하여 신(a god)을 만들게 하고;

그들은 엎드려 경배하느니라.

7 그들은 그것(을 어깨에 메고, 그것을 옮겨

제자리에 놓고, 그것은 서 있으며;

그 자리에서 움직이지 못하리라.

비록 누구가 그것에게 부르짖을지라도,

능히 응답하지 못하며

자기의 고난에서 구원하지 못하느니라.

5 “To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal

And compare Me, that we should be alike?

6 They lavish gold out of the bag,

And weigh silver on the scales;

They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god;

They prostrate themselves, yes, they worship.

7 They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it

And set it in its place, and it stands;

From its place it shall not move.

Though one cries out to it, yet it cannot answer

Nor save him out of his trouble.

8 그대들! 이것을 기억하고,

범죄자들아, 마음속에 되새기라.

9 옛날의 이전 일들(the former things of old)을 기억하라,

나는 하나님(God)이라, 나 외에는 다른 이가 없느니라;

나는 하나님(God)이라, 나 같은 이가 없느니라,

10 처음부터 끝(the end)을 알리며,

아직 이루어지지 아니한 일들을 옛적부터 알리고,

이르기를 '나의 계획(My counsel)이 서리니,

내가 나의 모든 기뻐하는 것(all My pleasure)을 이루리라' 하였노라.

11 동쪽에서 독수리(a bird of prey)를 부르며,

먼 나라에서 나의 계획(My counsel)을 실행할 사람을 부르나니.

내가 정녕히 말하였은즉;

내가 또한 그것을 이룰 것이요;

내가 계획하였은즉;

내가 또한 그것을 행하리라.

8 “Remember this, and show yourselves men;

Recall to mind, O you transgressors.

9 Remember the former things of old,

For I am God, and there is no other;

I am God, and there is none like Me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning,

And from ancient times things that are not yet done,

Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,

And I will do all My pleasure,’

11 Calling a bird of prey from the east,

The man who executes My counsel, from a far country.

Indeed I have spoken it;

I will also bring it to pass.

I have purposed it;

I will also do it.

12 마음이 완악하여

의(righteousness)에서 멀리 떠난 자들아,

내게 들으라!

13 내가 나의 의(My righteousness)를 가까이 가져왔으니,

그것이 멀리 있지 아니할 것이며;

나의 구원(My salvation)이 지체하지 아니할 것이라.

내가 나의 영광(My glory)인 이스라엘(Israel)을 위하여

시온(Zion)에 구원(salvation)을 베풀리라.

12 “Listen to Me, you stubborn-hearted,

Who are far from righteousness:

13 I bring My righteousness near, it shall not be far off;

My salvation shall not linger.

And I will place salvation in Zion,

For Israel My glory.

이사야서 47장

바벨론의 굴욕(The Humiliation of Babylon)

1 내려와 티끌(the dust) 가운데 앉으라,

바벨론의 처녀 딸(virgin daughter of Babylon)아;

보좌 없이 땅(the ground)에 앉으라,

갈대아의 딸(daughter of the Chaldeans)아!

그대가 다시는

곱고 아리움을 입는다 일컬음을 받지 못할 것임이라.

2 맷돌(the millstones)을 가져다가 곡식을 갈라.

그대 베일(your veil)을 벗고,

그대 치마를 걷어 올리고,

그대 넓적다리(your thigh)를 드러내고,

강들(the rivers)을 건너라.

3 그대 벌거벗은 것(Your nakedness)이 드러나고,

그대 수치(your shame)가 보일 것이라;

내가 보복(vengeance)하되,

사람과 타협하지 아니하리라.

1 “Come down and sit in the dust,

O virgin daughter of Babylon;

Sit on the ground without a throne,

O daughter of the Chaldeans!

For you shall no more be called

Tender and delicate.

2 Take the millstones and grind meal.

Remove your veil,

Take off the skirt,

Uncover the thigh,

Pass through the rivers.

3 Your nakedness shall be uncovered,

Yes, your shame will be seen;

I will take vengeance,

And I will not arbitrate with a man.”

4 우리의 구원자(Our Redeemer)는 만군의 여호와(the LORD of hosts)이시니 그의 이름은

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(The Holy One of Israel)시니라.

5 잠잠히 앉아 암흑(darkness) 속으로 들어가라,

갈대아의 딸(daughter of the Chaldeans)아;

그대가 다시는

나라들의 여주인이라 일컬음을 받지 못할 것임이라.

6 내가 내 백성에게 노하였으며;

내 기업(My inheritance)을 더럽혀,

그들을 그대 손에 넘겨주었도다.

그대가 그들에게 긍휼을 베풀지 아니하고;

노인에게 그대의 멍에(your yoke)를 심히 무겁게 메웠도다.

7 그대가 말하기를

'나는 영원히 여주인이 되리라(I shall be a lady forever)' 하였으므로,

이러한 일들(을 마음에 두지 아니하며,

그들의 나중 끝을 기억하지 아니하였도다.

5 “Sit in silence, and go into darkness,

O daughter of the Chaldeans;

For you shall no longer be called

The Lady of Kingdoms.

6 I was angry with My people;

I have profaned My inheritance,

And given them into your hand.

You showed them no mercy;

On the elderly you laid your yoke very heavily.

7 And you said, ‘I shall be a lady forever,’

So that you did not take these things to heart,

Nor remember the latter end of them.

8 그러므로 이제 이것을 들으라, 쾌락(pleasures)을 좋아하는 자야,

안전히 거하며,

마음에 이르기를

'나뿐이라 나 외에는 다른 이가 없도다(I am, and there is no one else besides me);

나는 과부로 앉아 있지도 아니하며,

자녀를 잃는 고통도 알지 아니하리라' 하는 자야.

9 그러나 이 두 가지 일이 그대에게 순식간에, 하루 사이에 임하리니:

자녀를 잃는 것과 과부됨이라.

이는 그대 많은 요술(sorceries)과

그대 많은 마법(enchantments)으로 말미암아

그들이 온전히 그대에게 임할 것임이라.

8 “Therefore hear this now, you who are given to pleasures,

Who dwell securely,

Who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me;

I shall not sit as a widow,

Nor shall I know the loss of children’;

9 But these two things shall come to you

In a moment, in one day:

The loss of children, and widowhood.

They shall come upon you in their fullness

Because of the multitude of your sorceries,

For the great abundance of your enchantments.

10 그대가 그대 악(your wickedness)을 의뢰하고;

말하기를 '나를 보는 이가 없다(No one sees me)' 하였음이라;

그대 지혜와 그대 지식(your wisdom and your knowledge)이 그대를 타락시켰으므로;

그대가 마음에 이르기를,

'나뿐이라 나 외에는 다른 이가 없도다(I am, and there is no one else besides me)' 하였음이라.

11 그러므로 재앙(evil)이 그대에게 임하리니;

그대가 그 근원(its source)을 알지 못할 것이라.

곤란(trouble)이 그대에게 닥치리니;

그대가 그것을 벗어날 수 없을 것이라.

멸망(desolation)이 갑자기 그대에게 임하리니,

그대가 알지 못할 것이라.

10 “For you have trusted in your wickedness;

You have said, ‘No one sees me’;

Your wisdom and your knowledge have warped you;

And you have said in your heart,

‘I am, and there is no one else besides me.’

11 Therefore evil shall come upon you;

You shall not know from where it arises.

And trouble shall fall upon you;

You will not be able to put it off.

And desolation shall come upon you suddenly,

Which you shall not know.

12 이제 그대 마법(enchantments)과

그대 많은 요술(sorceries)로 서 보라,

그대가 어려서부터 힘쓴 것들이라—

혹시 그대가 유익(profit)을 얻을 수 있을지,

혹시 그대가 이길 수 있을지.

13 그대가 많은 계획(counsels)으로 피곤하게 되었나니;

이제 점성가(the astrologers)와 별을 보는 자(the stargazers)와

매월 예보하는 자(the monthly prognosticators)들이

일어나 그대를 구원하게 하라

그대에게 닥칠 일(the things that shall come upon you)에서.

14 보라, 그들은 검불 같을 것이요,

불이 그들을 태우리니;

그들이 불꽃(the flame)의 세력에서 스스로 구원하지 못할 것이라;

그 불은 몸을 녹일 숯불도 아니요,

그 앞에 앉을 만한 불도 아닐 것이라!

15 그대가 어려서부터 함께 힘쓴 자들,

그대 상인들(merchants)이 그대에게 이같이 되리니;

그들은 각기 자기 지방으로 방황할 것이라.

그대를 구원할 자가 아무도 없으리라.

12 “Stand now with your enchantments

And the multitude of your sorceries,

In which you have labored from your youth—

Perhaps you will be able to profit,

Perhaps you will prevail.

13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels;

Let now the astrologers, the stargazers,

And the monthly prognosticators

Stand up and save you

From what shall come upon you.

14 Behold, they shall be as stubble,

The fire shall burn them;

They shall not deliver themselves

From the power of the flame;

It shall not be a coal to be warmed by,

Nor a fire to sit before!

15 Thus shall they be to you

With whom you have labored,

Your merchants from your youth;

They shall wander each one to his quarter.

No one shall save you.

하나님의 영광을 위하여 새로이 된 이스라엘(Israel Refined for God’s Glory)

1 야곱의 집(house of Jacob)이여, 이를 들으라,

이스라엘(Israel)의 이름으로 불리며,

유다(Judah)의 근원에서 나왔으며;

여호와(the LORD)의 이름으로 맹세하며,

이스라엘(Israel)의 하나님(God)을 일컫되,

진실과 의로움 없이 하는 자들아;

2 그들은 거룩한 성(the holy city)의 이름으로 자칭하며,

이스라엘(Israel)의 하나님(God)을 의지하나니;

만군의 여호와(the LORD of hosts)는 그의 이름이니라:

1 “Hear this, O house of Jacob,

Who are called by the name of Israel,

And have come forth from the wellsprings of Judah;

Who swear by the name of the LORD,

And make mention of the God of Israel,

But not in truth or in righteousness;

2 For they call themselves after the holy city,

And lean on the God of Israel;

The LORD of hosts is His name:

3 "내가 이전 일(the former things)을 처음부터 알게 하였고;

그들이 내 입에서 나갔고 내가 그들을 듣게 하였으며.

갑자기 내가 그 일들을 행하였고, 그것들이 이루어졌느니라.

4 이는 내가 그대가 완악하며,

이는 그대가 말하기를 '내 우상(my idol)이 그것들을 행하였고,

내 새긴 형상과 부어 만든 형상(my carved image and my molded image)이

그것들을 명령하였다' 하지 않게 하려 함이라.

3 “I have declared the former things from the beginning;

They went forth from My mouth, and I caused them to hear it.

Suddenly I did them, and they came to pass.

4 Because I knew that you were obstinate,

And your neck was an iron sinew,

And your brow bronze,

5 Even from the beginning I have declared it to you;

Before it came to pass I proclaimed it to you,

Lest you should say, ‘My idol has done them,

And my carved image and my molded image

Have commanded them.’

6 그대가 들었으니;

이 모든 것을 보라.

그대가 그것을 알리지 아니하겠느냐?

이제부터 내가 그대에게 새 일(new things),

곧 숨겨진 일(hidden things)을 듣게 하였나니,

그대가 그것들을 알지 못하였느니라.

7 그것들은 처음부터가 아니요 이제 창조되었느니라;

이날 이전에는 그대가 그것들을 듣지 못하였으니,

이는 그대가 말하기를 '내가 그것들을 알았노라' 하지 않게 하려 함이라.

8 정녕히 그대가 듣지 못하였고,

정녕히 그대가 알지 못하였으며;

정녕히 아주 오래 전부터 그대 귀가 열리지 아니하였느니라.

이는 내가 그대가 심히 배신적으로 행하며,

모태(the womb)에서부터 범죄자(a transgressor)라 불렸음을 알았음이라.

6 “You have heard;

See all this.

And will you not declare it?

I have made you hear new things from this time,

Even hidden things, and you did not know them.

7 They are created now and not from the beginning;

And before this day you have not heard them,

Lest you should say, ‘Of course I knew them.’

8 Surely you did not hear,

Surely you did not know;

Surely from long ago your ear was not opened.

For I knew that you would deal very treacherously,

And were called a transgressor from the womb.

9 내 이름(My name)을 위하여 내가 나의 화(My anger)를 늦추며,

나의 찬송(My praise)을 위하여 내가 그것을 그대에게서 억제하리니,

이는 내가 그대를 끊어 버리지 아니하려 함이라.

10 보라, 내가 그대를 새로이 하였으나, 은같이 하지 아니하였고;

고난의 풀무(the furnace of affliction)에서 그대를 시험하였노라.

11 나를 위하여, 나를 위하여 내가 그것을 행하리니;

내 이름이 어찌 더럽혀지리요?

나는 나의 영광(My glory)을 다른 이에게 주지 아니하리라."

9 “For My name’s sake I will defer My anger,

And for My praise I will restrain it from you,

So that I do not cut you off.

10 Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver;

I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.

11 For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it;

For how should My name be profaned?

And I will not give My glory to another.

이스라엘을 구원하시려는 하나님의 오랜 계획(God’s Ancient Plan to Redeem Israel)

12 야곱(Jacob)아, 내게 들으라,

내가 부른 이스라엘(Israel)아:

나는 그(I am He)니, 나는 처음(the First)이요,

나는 또한 마지막(the Last)이라.

13 정녕히 내 손(My hand)이 땅의 기초(the foundation of the earth)를 놓았고,

내 오른손(My right hand)이 하늘을 펼쳤나니;

내가 그것들을 부를 때에,

그것들이 함께 서느니라.

12 “Listen to Me, O Jacob,

And Israel, My called:

I am He, I am the First,

I am also the Last.

13 Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth,

And My right hand has stretched out the heavens;

When I call to them,

They stand up together.

14 그대들 모두 모여 들으라!

그들 가운데 누가 이 일들을 알게 하였느냐?

여호와(the LORD)께서 그를 사랑하시나니;

그가 바벨론(Babylon)에 그의 뜻(His pleasure)을 행할 것이요,

그의 팔(His arm)이 갈대아인(the Chaldeans)을 칠 것이라.

15 나 곧 내가 말하였고;

정녕 내가 그를 불렀으며,

내가 그를 데려왔으니, 그의 길이 형통하리라.

16 그대들은 내게 가까이 나아와 이것을 들으라:

나는 처음부터 은밀히 말하지 아니하였고;

그것이 있을 때부터 내가 거기에 있었노라.

이제 주 여호와(the Lord GOD)와 그의 영(His Spirit)이

나를 보내셨느니라.

14 “All of you, assemble yourselves, and hear!

Who among them has declared these things?

The LORD loves him;

He shall do His pleasure on Babylon,

And His arm shall be against the Chaldeans.

15 I, even I, have spoken;

Yes, I have called him,

I have brought him, and his way will prosper.

16 “Come near to Me, hear this:

I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;

From the time that it was, I was there.

And now the Lord GOD and His Spirit

Havea sent Me.”

17 그대들의 구원자(your Redeemer)이시요,

이스라엘(the Holy One of Israel)의 거룩한 이(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하신다:

"나는 네 하나님 여호와(the LORD your God)라,

네게 유익하도록 가르치고,

네가 가야 할 길로 그대를 인도하는 자라.

18 오, 네가 나의 계명(My commandments)에 귀 기울였더라면!

그랬다면 네 평강(your peace)이 강(a river) 같고,

네 의(your righteousness)가 바다 물결(the waves of the sea) 같았을 것이라.

19 네 자손(Your descendants)은 모래(the sand) 같고,

네 몸의 소생은 모래알(the grains of sand) 같아서;

그의 이름이 내 앞에서 끊어지거나

멸망하지 아니하였을 것이라.

“I am the LORD your God,

Who teaches you to profit,

Who leads you by the way you should go.

18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!

Then your peace would have been like a river,

And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

19 Your descendants also would have been like the sand,

And the offspring of your body like the grains of sand;

His name would not have been cut off

Nor destroyed from before Me.”

20 바벨론(Babylon)에서 나오라!

갈대아 사람들(the Chaldeans)에게서 도망하라!

노래하는 소리로,

이것을 알리고(declare), 선포하며(proclaim),

땅끝까지 그것을 전파하여 이르기를;

'여호와(the LORD)께서 그의 종 야곱(His servant Jacob)을 구속하셨다(redeemed)!' 하라.

21 그가 그들을 사막으로 인도할 때에 그들이 목마르지 아니하였으니;

그들을 위하여 바위에서 물이 흘러나게 하셨으며;

그가 또한 바위를 쪼개시니 물이 솟아 나왔느니라.

20 Go forth from Babylon!

Flee from the Chaldeans!

With a voice of singing,

Declare, proclaim this,

Utter it to the end of the earth;

Say, “The LORD has redeemed

His servant Jacob!”

21 And they did not thirst

When He led them through the deserts;

He caused the waters to flow from the rock for them;

He also split the rock, and the waters gushed out.

22 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시되 "악인을 위한 평화는 없을지다." 하셨느니라.

이사야서 49장

그 종, 이방인의 빛(The Servant, the Light to the Gentiles)

1 섬들(coastlands)아, 내게 들으라,

먼 곳의 백성들(peoples from afar)아, 귀를 기울이라!

여호와(the LORD)께서 나를 태(womb)에서부터 부르셨고;

내 어머니의 태(matrix of My mother)에서 내 이름을 언급하셨도다.

2 그가 내 입을 날카로운 칼같이 만드시고;

그의 손 그늘 아래 나를 숨기시며,

나를 갈고 닦은 화살(shaft)로 만드시고;

그의 화살통(quiver)에 나를 숨기셨도다.

1 “Listen, O coastlands, to Me,

And take heed, you peoples from afar!

The LORD has called Me from the womb;

From the matrix of My mother He has made mention of My name.

2 And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword;

In the shadow of His hand He has hidden Me,

And made Me a polished shaft;

In His quiver He has hidden Me.”

3 그가 내게 말씀하시기를,

'그대는 나의 종(My servant)이라, 오 이스라엘(Israel)아,

내가 너로 말미암아 영광을 받으리라.' 하셨느니라.

4 이에 내가 말하기를, '내가 헛되이 수고하였으며),

내 힘을 무익하고 헛되이 다 썼도다;

그러나 나의 공정한 보상(just reward)은 정녕히 여호와(the LORD)께 있고,

나의 일(my work)은 나의 하나님(my God)께 있도다.' 하였느니라.

3 “And He said to me,

‘You are My servant, O Israel,

In whom I will be glorified.’

4 Then I said, ‘I have labored in vain,

I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain;

Yet surely my just reward is with the LORD,

And my work with my God.’ ”

5 이제 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시나니,

나를 태(womb)에서부터 그의 종(His Servant)이 되게 지으시고,

야곱(Jacob)을 그에게로 돌아오게 하시며,

이스라엘(Israel)이 그에게로 모이게 하시려는 이시라

(이는 내가 여호와(the LORD)의 눈에 영화롭게 되고,

나의 하나님(My God)이 나의 힘이 되실 것임이라).

6 그가 말씀하시기를,

'그대가 나의 종(My servant)이 되어

야곱의 지파들(the tribes of Jacob)을 일으키고,

이스라엘의 보존된 자들(preserved ones of Israel)을 회복하는 것은

너무나 작은 일이라(too small a thing);

내가 또한 그대를 이방인(the Gentiles)의 빛으로 삼아,

그대가 나의 구원(My salvation)을 땅 끝까지 이르게 하리라.' 하셨느니라.

5 “And now the LORD says,

Who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant,

To bring Jacob back to Him,

So that Israel is gathered to Hima

(For I shall be glorious in the eyes of the LORD,

And My God shall be My strength),

6 Indeed He says,

‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant

To raise up the tribes of Jacob,

And to restore the preserved ones of Israel;

I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles,

That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”

7 이스라엘(Israel)의 구원자(Redeemer)이시요,

그들의 거룩한 이(their Holy One)이신 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되,

사람에게 멸시를 당하는 자,

나라에게 미움을 받는 자,

통치자들의 종(the Servant of rulers)에게 이르노니:

"왕들이 보고 일어서며,

군주들(Princes)도 경배하리니,

신실하신 여호와(the LORD),

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel)로 말미암음이라;

그가 그대를 택하였느니라."

하나님께서 시온을 회복하시리라(God Will Restore Zion)

7 Thus says the LORD,

The Redeemer of Israel, their Holy One,

To Him whom man despises,

To Him whom the nation abhors,

To the Servant of rulers:

“Kings shall see and arise,

Princes also shall worship,

Because of the LORD who is faithful,

The Holy One of Israel;

And He has chosen You.”

8 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되:

"은혜의 때(an acceptable time)에 내가 네게 응답하였고(,

구원의 날(the day of salvation)에 내가 그대를 도왔도다;

내가 그대를 보전하여 백성의 언약(a covenant)으로 삼아,

땅을 회복하고,

황폐한 기업(desolate heritages)을 그들에게 상속하게 하리니;

9 그대는 포로들에게 이르기를 '나가라,' 하며,

흑암(darkness)에 있는 자들에게 이르기를 '나타나라' 하리라.

그들이 길가에서 먹겠고,

그들의 목장(their pastures)은 모든 황폐한 언덕에 있을 것이라.

10 그들이 주리거나 목마르지 아니하며,

더위나 햇볕이 그들을 상하게 하지 아니하리니;

이는 그들을 긍휼히 여기는 이가 그들을 인도하시되,

샘물(springs of water) 곁으로 그들을 인도하실 것임이라.

11 내가 나의 모든 산을 길(a road)로 만들고,

나의 대로(My highways)가 높아지리라.

12 보라, 이들이 먼 곳에서 오리니;

북쪽(the north)과 서쪽(the west)에서 오는 자들과,

시님 땅(the land of Sinim)에서 오는 자들이로다.

“In an acceptable time I have heard You,

And in the day of salvation I have helped You;

I will preserve You and give You

As a covenant to the people,

To restore the earth,

To cause them to inherit the desolate heritages;

9 That You may say to the prisoners, ‘Go forth,’

To those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves.’

“They shall feed along the roads,

And their pastures shall be on all desolate heights.

10 They shall neither hunger nor thirst,

Neither heat nor sun shall strike them;

For He who has mercy on them will lead them,

Even by the springs of water He will guide them.

11 I will make each of My mountains a road,

And My highways shall be elevated.

12 Surely these shall come from afar;

Look! Those from the north and the west,

And these from the land of Sinim.”

13 하늘아, 노래하라!

땅아, 기뻐하라!

산들아, 노래하며 터져 나올지어다!

여호와(the LORD)께서 그의 백성을 위로하셨고,

그의 고난당한 자들을 긍휼히 여기실 것임이라.

13 Sing, O heavens!

Be joyful, O earth!

And break out in singing, O mountains!

For the LORD has comforted His people,

And will have mercy on His afflicted.

하나님께서 시온을 기억하심(God Will Remember Zion)

14 그러나 시온(Zion)이 말하기를, "여호와(the LORD)께서 나를 버리시며,

나의 주께서 나를 잊으셨도다." 하였느니라.

15 "여인이 어찌 자기 젖 먹는 아이를 잊겠으며,

자기 태에서 난 아들을 긍휼히 여기지 않겠느냐?

그들은 혹시 잊을지라도,

나는 그대를 잊지 아니할 것이라.

16 보라, 내가 그대를 내 손바닥(palms of My hands)에 새겼고;

네 성벽(Your walls)이 항상 내 앞에 있느니라.

17 네 아들들(Your sons)은 속히 돌아오고;

그대를 파괴하는 자들과 그대를 황폐하게 하는 자들은

네게서 떠나갈 것이라.

18 네 눈을 들어 주위를 보라;

이 모든 무리가 모여 네게로 오느니라.

나의 삶을 두고 맹세하노라," 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시되,

"네가 정녕히 그들 모두를 장식(an ornament)처럼 몸에 두르고,

신부가 단장하듯 그것들을 띠리라.

14 But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,

And my Lord has forgotten me.”

15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child,

And not have compassion on the son of her womb?

Surely they may forget,

Yet I will not forget you.

16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;

Your walls are continually before Me.

17 Your sonsa shall make haste;

Your destroyers and those who laid you waste

Shall go away from you.

18 Lift up your eyes, look around and see;

All these gather together and come to you.

As I live,” says the LORD,

“You shall surely clothe yourselves with them all as an ornament,

And bind them on you as a bride does.

19 이는 네 황폐하고 적막한 곳들(waste and desolate places)과

네 파멸된 땅(the land of your destruction)이

이제는 거주민들에게 너무 좁을 것이며;

그대를 삼킨 자들은 멀리 떠나갈 것임이라.

20 네가 자녀를 잃은 후에 얻을 자녀들이

다시 네 귀에 말하기를,

'이곳이 내게 너무 좁으니;

내가 거주할 곳을 내게 주소서.' 하리니.

21 그때 네가 네 마음속에 이르기를,

'내가 자녀를 잃고 적막하며,

사로잡혀 이리저리 헤매는데 누가 나를 위하여 이들을 낳았는고?

누가 이들을 길렀는고?

나는 홀로 남겨졌었는데(left alone);

이들은 어디에 있었는고?' ' 하리라."

19 “For your waste and desolate places,

And the land of your destruction,

Will even now be too small for the inhabitants;

And those who swallowed you up will be far away.

20 The children you will have,

After you have lost the others,

Will say again in your ears,

‘The place is too small for me;

Give me a place where I may dwell.’

21 Then you will say in your heart,

‘Who has begotten these for me,

Since I have lost my children and am desolate,

A captive, and wandering to and fro?

And who has brought these up?

There I was, left alone;

But these, where were they?’ ”

22 주 여호와(the Lord GOD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되:

"보라, 내가 뭇 나라를 향하여 나의 손을 들어 맹세하며,

만민(the peoples)을 향하여 나의 기치(My standard)를 세우리니;

그들이 네 아들들을 팔에 안고 오며,

네 딸들은 어깨에 메고 올 것이라;

23 왕들은 네 양부(foster fathers)가 되고,

그들의 왕비들은 네 유모(nursing mothers)가 될 것이며;

그들이 얼굴을 땅에 대고 네게 절하고,

네 발의 티끌(the dust of your feet)을 핥을 것이라.

그때 네가 나 여호와(the LORD)인 줄을 알리니,

나를 기다리는 자들은 수치를 당하지 아니하리라."

“Behold, I will lift My hand in an oath to the nations,

And set up My standard for the peoples;

They shall bring your sons in their arms,

And your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders;

23 Kings shall be your foster fathers,

And their queens your nursing mothers;

They shall bow down to you with their faces to the earth,

And lick up the dust of your feet.

Then you will know that I am the LORD,

For they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me.”

24 강한 자에게서 빼앗은 포로(the prey)를 빼앗을 수 있겠으며,

의로운 자의 사로잡힌 자(the captives of the righteous)를 건져낼 수 있겠느냐?

24Shall the prey be taken from the mighty,

Or the captives of the righteousa be delivered?

25 그러나 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되:

"강한 자에게 사로잡힌 자(the captives of the mighty)도 빼앗을 수 있으며,

무서운 자의 노략물(the prey of the terrible)도 건져낼 수 있나니;

이는 내가 너와 다투는 자와 다투고,

내가 네 자녀들을 구원할 것임이라.

26 내가 그대를 압제하는 자들에게 자기 살을 먹게 하며,

그들이 단 포도주(sweet wine)에 취함같이 자기 피(their own blood)에 취하게 하리니;

모든 육체(All flesh)가 알리라

나 여호와(the LORD)가 그대들의 구원자(your Savior)요,

그대들의 구속자(your Redeemer) 곧 야곱의 전능자(the Mighty One of Jacob)인 줄을."

“Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away,

And the prey of the terrible be delivered;

For I will contend with him who contends with you,

And I will save your children.

26 I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh,

And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine.

All flesh shall know

That I, the LORD, am your Savior,

And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

이사야서 50장

그 종, 이스라엘의 소망(The Servant, Israel’s Hope)

1 이처럼 말한다 여호와(the LORD)께서:

내가 그대 어머니를 내쫓았다고 하는데, 내가 준 이혼 증서가 어디 있느냐?"

혹은 내 채권자 중 누구에게 내가 그대를 팔았느냐?"

그대들의 불의(your iniquities) 때문에 그대들이 팔렸고,

그대들의 허물(your transgressions) 때문에 그대 어머니가 버려졌노라.

2 어찌하여, 내가 왔을 때, 사람이 없었느냐?

어찌하여, 내가 불렀을 때, 대답하는 자가 아무도 없었느냐?

나의 손이 짧아져서 전혀 구원(redeem)할 수 없느냐?

혹은 나에게 건질 능력(power to deliver)이 없느냐?

참으로 나의 꾸짖음(rebuke)으로 바다를 말리고,

내가 강들을 광야(a wilderness)로 만드노라;

물이 없어서 그 물고기들이 썩어 냄새가 나고, 목말라 죽노라.

3 내가 하늘을 암흑(blackness)으로 입히고,

내가 굵은 베옷(sackcloth)을 그들의 옷로 만드노라.

1 Thus says the LORD:

“Where is the certificate of your mother’s divorce,

Whom I have put away?

Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you?

For your iniquities you have sold yourselves,

And for your transgressions your mother has been put away.

2 Why, when I came, was there no man?

Why, when I called, was there none to answer?

Is My hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem?

Or have I no power to deliver?

Indeed with My rebuke I dry up the sea,

I make the rivers a wilderness;

Their fish stink because there is no water,

And die of thirst.

3 I clothe the heavens with blackness,

And I make sackcloth their covering.”

4 주 하나님(the Lord GOD)께서 나에게 주셨노라.

배운 자의 혀(the tongue of the learned)를,

내가 알도록 말하는 방법을

지친 자)에게 때에 맞는 말을.

그가 나를 아침마다 깨우시고,

그가 나의 귀를 깨우치시어

배운 자처럼 듣게 하시노라.

5 주 하나님(the Lord GOD)께서 나의 귀를 여셨고;

그리고 나는 반항하지 않았고,

돌아서지도 않았노라.

6 나는 나의 등을 때리는 자들에게 맡겼고,

나의 뺨을 수염을 뽑는 자들에게 맡겼고;

나는 수치와 침 뱉음으로부터 나의 얼굴을 숨기지 않았노라.

4 “The Lord GOD has given Me

The tongue of the learned,

That I should know how to speak

A word in season to him who is weary.

He awakens Me morning by morning,

He awakens My ear

To hear as the learned.

5 The Lord GOD has opened My ear;

And I was not rebellious,

Nor did I turn away.

6 I gave My back to those who struck Me,

And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;

I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

7 이는 주 하나님(the Lord GOD)께서 나를 도우실 것이기 때문이라;

그러므로 나는 수치를 당하지 않을 것이라;

그러므로 나는 나의 얼굴을 부싯돌(a flint)처럼 굳게 하였고,

나는 수치를 당하지 않을 것을 아노라.

8 나를 의롭다 하시는 이가 가까이 계시다;

누가 나와 다툴 것이냐?

함께 서도록 하자(Let us stand together).

나의 적(My adversary)이 누구냐?

그를 내게 가까이 오게 하라.

9 정녕히 주 하나님(the Lord GOD)께서 나를 도우실 것이다;

누가 나를 정죄할 자인가?

참으로 그들은 모두 옷처럼 늙어갈 것이라;

좀(the moth)이 그들을 먹어 없앨 것이라.

7 “For the Lord GOD will help Me;

Therefore I will not be disgraced;

Therefore I have set My face like a flint,

And I know that I will not be ashamed.

8 He is near who justifies Me;

Who will contend with Me?

Let us stand together.

Who is My adversary?

Let him come near Me.

9 Surely the Lord GOD will help Me;

Who is he who will condemn Me?

Indeed they will all grow old like a garment;

The moth will eat them up.

10 그대들 중에 누가 여호와(the LORD)를 두려워하느냐?

누가 그의 종(His Servant)의 목소리에 순종하느냐?

어둠(darkness) 속에서 걷고

빛(light)이 없는 자는?

그로 하여금 여호와(the LORD)의 이름을 신뢰하고

자신의 하나님(his God)을 의지하게 하라.

11 보라, 불(a fire)을 피우는 그대들 모두,

불꽃(sparks)으로 그대들 자신을 두르는 자들아:

그대들 불의 빛(light) 속으로 그리고 그대들이 피운 불꽃 속으로 걸어가라—

이것을 그대들은 나의 손으로부터 받을 것이라:

그대들은 고통(torment) 속에 누울 것이라.

0“Who among you fears the LORD?

Who obeys the voice of His Servant?

Who walks in darkness

And has no light?

Let him trust in the name of the LORD

And rely upon his God.

11 Look, all you who kindle a fire,

Who encircle yourselves with sparks:

Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled—

This you shall have from My hand:

You shall lie down in torment.

이사야서 51장

여호와께서 시온을 위로하심(The LORD Comforts Zion)

1 의(righteousness)를 따르며 여호와(the LORD)를 찾는 그대들이여, 내게 들으라.

그대들을 떠낸 반석(rock)과

그대들을 파낸 웅덩이(pit)의 구멍을 보라.

2 그대들 아버지 아브라함(Abraham)과

그대들을 낳은 사라(Sarah)를 보라.

내가 그를 홀로 불렀고,

그에게 복을 주어 그를 번성하게 하였느니라.

1 “Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness,

You who seek the LORD:

Look to the rock from which you were hewn,

And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.

2 Look to Abraham your father,

And to Sarah who bore you;

For I called him alone,

And blessed him and increased him.”

3 여호와(the LORD)께서 시온(Zion)을 위로하시되,

그 모든 황폐한 곳(all her waste places)을 위로하여

그 광야(her wilderness)를 에덴(Eden)같이,

그 사막을 여호와의 동산(the garden of the LORD)같이 하시리니;

기쁨(joy)과 즐거움(gladness)이 그 가운데에 있고,

감사(thanksgiving)와 찬송(melody) 소리가 있으리라.

3 For the LORD will comfort Zion,

He will comfort all her waste places;

He will make her wilderness like Eden,

And her desert like the garden of the LORD;

Joy and gladness will be found in it,

Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

4 내 백성(My people)아, 내게 주의하라.

오 내 나라(My nation)야, 내게 귀를 기울이라.

이는 율법(law)이 내게서 나아가고,

내 공의(My justice)를 뭇 백성의 빛(a light of the peoples)으로 삼을 것임이라.

5 내 의(My righteousness)가 가까이 왔고,

내 구원(My salvation)이 나아갔은즉,

내 팔(My arms)이 뭇 백성을 심판하리니;

섬들(coastlands)이 나를 고대하며,

내 팔을 신뢰하리라.

6 그대들 눈을 하늘(the heavens)로 들며,

아래 있는 땅(the earth)을 보라.

하늘(the heavens)이 연기(smoke)같이 사라지고,

땅(the earth)이 옷(garment)같이 낡으며,

그 위에 거주하는 자들이 하루살이같이 죽으려니와;

나의 구원(My salvation)은 영원하고,

나의 의(My righteousness)는 폐하여지지 아니하리라.

4 “Listen to Me, My people;

And give ear to Me, O My nation:

For law will proceed from Me,

And I will make My justice rest

As a light of the peoples.

5 My righteousness is near,

My salvation has gone forth,

And My arms will judge the peoples;

The coastlands will wait upon Me,

And on My arm they will trust.

6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,

And look on the earth beneath.

For the heavens will vanish away like smoke,

The earth will grow old like a garment,

And those who dwell in it will die in like manner;

But My salvation will be forever,

And My righteousness will not be abolished.

7 의(righteousness)를 아는 그대들이여, 내게 들으라.

마음에 내 율법(My law)이 있는 백성들아,

사람의 비방(reproach)을 두려워하지 말며,

그들의 모욕(insults)에 놀라지 말라.

8 이는 좀(moth)이 그들을 옷같이 먹을 것이며,

벌레(worm)가 그들을 양털같이 먹을 것임이라;

그러나 나의 의(My righteousness)는 영원하고,

나의 구원(My salvation)은 대대로 이르리라.

7 “Listen to Me, you who know righteousness,

You people in whose heart is My law:

Do not fear the reproach of men,

Nor be afraid of their insults.

8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment,

And the worm will eat them like wool;

But My righteousness will be forever,

And My salvation from generation to generation.”

9 깨어나소서(Awake), 깨어나소서(Awake), 힘(strength)을 드러내 주소서,

오, 여호와의 팔(arm of the LORD)이여!

옛날 옛 시대(ancient days, generations of old)와 같이 깨어나소서(Awake).

라합(Rahab)을 찍어 죽이고 용(serpent)을 찌르신 이가

주님이 아니십니까??

9 Awake, awake, put on strength,

O arm of the LORD!

Awake as in the ancient days,

In the generations of old.

Are You not the arm that cut Rahab apart,

And wounded the serpent?

10 바다(the sea), 곧 큰 깊은 곳의 물(the waters of the great deep)을 말리시고,

바다 깊은 곳을 건너다닐 길(a road)을 만드신 이가

주님이 아니십니까??

11 여호와(the LORD)께 구속(ransomed)받은 자들이 돌아와

노래하며 시온(Zion)으로 돌아오리니,

영원한 기쁨(the everlasting joy)이 그들의 머리 위에 있으리라.

그들이 기쁨(joy)과 즐거움(gladness)을 얻으리니,

슬픔(sorrow)과 탄식(sighing)이 달아나리라.

10 Are You not the One who dried up the sea,

The waters of the great deep;

That made the depths of the sea a road

For the redeemed to cross over?

11 So the ransomed of the LORD shall return,

And come to Zion with singing,

With everlasting joy on their heads.

They shall obtain joy and gladness;

Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

12 그대들을 위로하는 이는 나 곧 나이니(I, even I, am He).

죽을 사람을 두려워하며,

풀같이 될 사람의 아들(son of a man who will be made like grass)을

어찌하여 두려워하느냐?

13 하늘(the heavens)을 펴고 땅의 기초(the foundations of the earth)를 놓은

그대의 창조주 여호와(the LORD your Maker)를 어찌하여 잊었으며,

파괴하려고 준비하는 압제자의 분노(the fury of the oppressor) 때문에

날마다 끊임없이 두려워하느냐?

압제자의 분노(the fury of the oppressor)가 어디 있느냐?

14 사로잡힌 포로(the captive exile)가 속히 놓여날 것이니,

구덩이(pit)에서 죽지 아니하고

그의 양식(bread)이 끊어지지 아니할 것이라.

15 나는 바다(sea)를 요동하게 하여 그 파도가 소리치게 하는

네 하나님 여호와(the LORD your God)이니,

만군의 여호와(the LORD of hosts)가 그의 이름이니라.

16 내가 내 말을 네 입에 두고,

내 손 그늘(the shadow of My hand)로 그대를 덮었나니,

이는 내가 하늘(the heavens)을 심고,

땅의 기초(the foundations of the earth)를 놓으며,

시온(Zion)에게 이르기를 '그대는 내 백성이라(You are My people)' 말하려 함이라.

12 “I, even I, am He who comforts you.

Who are you that you should be afraid

Of a man who will die,

And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?

13 And you forget the LORD your Maker,

Who stretched out the heavens

And laid the foundations of the earth;

You have feared continually every day

Because of the fury of the oppressor,

When he has prepared to destroy.

And where is the fury of the oppressor?

14 The captive exile hastens, that he may be loosed,

That he should not die in the pit,

And that his bread should not fail.

15 But I am the LORD your God,

Who divided the sea whose waves roared—

The LORD of hosts is His name.

16 And I have put My words in your mouth;

I have covered you with the shadow of My hand,

That I may plant the heavens,

Lay the foundations of the earth,

And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’ ”

하나님의 진노가 제거됨(God’s Fury Removed)

17 깨어나라(Awake), 깨어나라(Awake)!

일어나라(Stand up), 오 예루살렘(Jerusalem)아,

네가 여호와(the LORD)의 손에서

그 진노의 잔(the cup of His fury)을 마셨으니;

비틀거리는 잔(the cup of trembling)의 찌꺼기를 마셔

다 비웠도다(drained it out).

18 그가 낳은 모든 아들(all the sons) 가운데

그를 인도할 자가 없고;

그가 양육한 모든 아들(all the sons) 가운데

그의 손을 잡아 줄 자도 없도다.

19 이 두 가지 일(two things)이 네게 닥쳤으니;

누가 그대를 위로하겠느냐?—

황폐(desolation)와 파멸(destruction), 기근(famine)과 칼(sword)이라—

내가 누구로 그대를 위로하겠느냐?

20 네 자녀들이 기진하여

모든 길모퉁이에서 힘없이 쓰러져,

그물에 걸린 영양(an antelope in a net) 같도다;

그들은 여호와의 진노(the fury of the LORD)와

네 하나님의 견책(the rebuke of your God)으로 가득 찼도다.

17 Awake, awake!

Stand up, O Jerusalem,

You who have drunk at the hand of the LORD

The cup of His fury;

You have drunk the dregs of the cup of trembling,

And drained it out.

18 There is no one to guide her

Among all the sons she has brought forth;

Nor is there any who takes her by the hand

Among all the sons she has brought up.

19 These two things have come to you;

Who will be sorry for you?—

Desolation and destruction, famine and sword—

By whom will I comfort you?

20 Your sons have fainted,

They lie at the head of all the streets,

Like an antelope in a net;

They are full of the fury of the LORD,

The rebuke of your God.

21 그러므로 고난 당한 그대여,

포도주가 아닌 것에 취한 그대는 이를 들으라.

22 네 주 여호와(the LORD), 네 하나님(your God),

그의 백성의 송사(the cause of His people)를 변호하시는 이가 이같이 말씀하시되:

"보라, 내가 네 손에서

떨리는 잔(the cup of trembling),

내 진노의 잔(cup of My fury)의 찌꺼기를 빼앗았은즉;

네가 다시는 그것을 마시지 아니하리라.

23 내가 그것을 그대를 괴롭게 하는 자들의 손에 주리니,

그들이 네게 이르기를

'엎드려라, 우리가 그대를 밟고 지나가리라' 하였느니라.

네가 네 몸을 땅바닥(the ground)같이 되어

지나가는 자들을 위한 길거리(the street)가 되리라."

21 Therefore please hear this, you afflicted,

And drunk but not with wine.

22 Thus says your Lord,

The LORD and your God,

Who pleads the cause of His people:

“See, I have taken out of your hand

The cup of trembling,

The dregs of the cup of My fury;

You shall no longer drink it.

23 But I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you,

Who have said to you,a

‘Lie down, that we may walk over you.’

And you have laid your body like the ground,

And as the street, for those who walk over.”

이사야서 52장

하나님께서 예루살렘을 구속하심 (God Redeems Jerusalem)

1 깨어나라(Awake), 깨어나라(Awake)!

네 힘(your strength)을 드러내라, 오 시온(Zion)아;

네 아름다운 옷(your beautiful garments)을 입으라,

오 거룩한 성 예루살렘(O Jerusalem, the holy city)아!

할례받지 아니한 자(the uncircumcised)와 부정한 자(the unclean)가

다시는 네게로 들어오지 못할 것임이라.

2 티끌(your dust)을 떨어 버리고 일어나 앉으라, 오 예루살렘(O Jerusalem)아!

네 목의 줄(the bonds of your neck)을 풀어 버리라,

오, 사로잡힌 딸 시온(captive daughter of Zion)아!

1 Awake, awake!

Put on your strength, O Zion;

Put on your beautiful garments,

O Jerusalem, the holy city!

For the uncircumcised and the unclean

Shall no longer come to you.

2 Shake yourself from the dust, arise;

Sit down, O Jerusalem!

Loose yourself from the bonds of your neck,

O captive daughter of Zion!

3 여호와(For thus says the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되:

"그대들이 값없이 팔렸으니,

돈 없이 구속을 받으리라."

“You have sold yourselves for nothing,

And you shall be redeemed without money.”

4 주 여호와(For thus says the Lord GOD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되:

"내 백성이 옛적에

살려고 애굽(Egypt)으로 내려갔었고;

앗수르(Assyria)는 까닭 없이 그들을 압제하였도다."

5 그러므로 이제 내가 여기서 무엇을 하랴,"

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시되,

"내 백성이 까닭 없이 잡혀갔으니?

그들을 다스리는 자들이

그들을 울부짖게 하는도다,"

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시되,

"나의 이름(My name)이 날마다 끊임없이 모독을 받는도다.

6 그러므로 내 백성이 나의 이름(My name)을 알리라;

그러므로 그날에는 그들이

내가 말하는 자(He who speaks)인 줄 알리라:

'보라(Behold), 나이니라(it is I).' "

“My people went down at first

Into Egypt to dwell there;

Then the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.

5 Now therefore, what have I here,” says the LORD,

“That My people are taken away for nothing?

Those who rule over them

Make them wail,”a says the LORD,

“And My name is blasphemed continually every day.

6 Therefore My people shall know My name;

Therefore they shall know in that day

That I am He who speaks:

‘Behold, it is I.’ ”

7 "좋은 소식(good news)을 가져오며,

평화(peace)를 전파하며,

복된 좋은 일(good things)을 가져오며,

구원(salvation)을 전파하며,

시온에게 이르기를,

“네 하나님이 통치하신다(Your God reigns)!” 말하는

산 위로 걸어다니는 사람의 발걸음(the feet of him)이

어찌 그리 아름다운가!"

7 How beautiful upon the mountains

Are the feet of him who brings good news,

Who proclaims peace,

Who brings glad tidings of good things,

Who proclaims salvation,

Who says to Zion,

“Your God reigns!”

8 그대들 파수꾼들(Your watchmen)의 소리가 높으니,

그들이 함께 노래하리라;

이는 여호와(For the LORD)께서 시온(Zion)을 돌려보내실 때

그들이 눈으로 똑똑히 볼 것임이라.

9 그대들 황폐한 곳 예루살렘(You waste places of Jerusalem)아,

기쁨으로 터져 나오라, 함께 노래하라!

이는 여호와께서 그의 백성을 위로하셨고,

예루살렘(Jerusalem)을 구속하셨음이라.

10 여호와(The LORD)께서 모든 나라의 눈(the eyes of all the nations)앞에서

그의 거룩한 팔(His holy arm)을 드러내셨으므로;

땅 끝(the ends of the earth)까지

우리 하나님의 구원(the salvation of our God)을 보리라.

8 Your watchmen shall lift up their voices,

With their voices they shall sing together;

For they shall see eye to eye

When the LORD brings back Zion.

9 Break forth into joy, sing together,

You waste places of Jerusalem!

For the LORD has comforted His people,

He has redeemed Jerusalem.

10 The LORD has made bare His holy arm

In the eyes of all the nations;

And all the ends of the earth shall see

The salvation of our God.

11 떠나라(Depart)! 떠나라(Depart)! 거기에서 나오라,

부정한 것을 만지지 말라;

그 가운데에서 나와

깨끗하게 될지어다,

여호와의 그릇(the vessels of the LORD)을 메는 그대들아.

12 그대들이 급히 나오지 아니하며,

도망하여 가지 아니하리니;

이는 여호와(the LORD)께서 그대들 앞에 가시며,

이스라엘의 하나님(the God of Israel)이 그대들 뒤를 지키실 것임이라.

11 Depart! Depart! Go out from there,

Touch no unclean thing;

Go out from the midst of her,

Be clean,

You who bear the vessels of the LORD.

12 For you shall not go out with haste,

Nor go by flight;

For the LORD will go before you,

And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

죄를 짊어진 종(The Sin-Bearing Servant)

13 보라, 나의 종(My Servant)이 지혜롭게 행하며,

높이 들리고 추앙받으며 지극히 높아지리라.

14 많은 사람이 그대를 보고 놀랐던 것같이—

그의 용모가 어떤 사람보다 심하게 손상되었고,

그의 형상이 사람들보다 심하게 손상되었으므로—

15 그가 많은 나라(many nations)를 놀라게 하리니.

왕들이 그 앞에서 입을 다물 것이라;

이는 그들이 듣지 못하였던 것을 볼 것이요,

알지 못하였던 것을 깨달을 것임이라.

13 Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently;

He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high.

14 Just as many were astonished at you,

So His visage was marred more than any man,

And His form more than the sons of men;

15 So shall He sprinklea many nations.

Kings shall shut their mouths at Him;

For what had not been told them they shall see,

And what they had not heard they shall consider.

이사야서 53장

고난받는 종(The Suffering Servant)

1 누가 우리 전한 것을 믿었느냐?

여호와의 팔(the arm of the LORD)이 누구에게 나타났느냐?

2 그는 주 앞에서 연한 순(a tender plant)같이,

마른 땅(a dry ground)에서 나온 뿌리(a root)같이 자라났으니,

그에게는 모양(form)도 아름다움(comeliness)도 없고,

우리가 보기에 흠모할 만한 아름다움(beauty)이 없었도다.

3 그는 사람들에게 멸시를 당하고 버림을 받았으며,

고통(sorrows)을 아는 사람, 슬픔(grief)에 익숙한 사람이니라.

우리가 얼굴을 가리고 그를 보지 아니하였고,

그는 멸시를 당하였으며, 우리는 그를 귀히 여기지 아니하였도다.

1 Who has believed our report?

And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,

And as a root out of dry ground.

He has no form or comeliness;

And when we see Him,

There is no beauty that we should desire Him.

3 He is despised and rejected by men,

A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;

He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

4 실로 그는 우리의 슬픔(our griefs)을 지고

우리의 고통(our sorrows)을 짊어졌거늘,

우리는 그가 징벌(stricken)을 받아

하나님께 맞으며 고난을 당하는 줄로 생각하였도다.

5 그러나 그는 우리의 반역(our transgressions) 때문에 찔리고,

우리의 죄악(our iniquities) 때문에 상하였으며,

그가 징계를 받음으로 우리가 평화(peace)를 누리고,

그가 채찍에 맞음으로 우리가 나음을 받았도다.

6 우리는 다 양(sheep) 같아서

길을 잃고(have gone astray),

각각 자기 길로 갔거늘,

여호와(And the LORD)께서는

우리 모두의 죄악(the iniquity of us all)을 그에게 담당시키셨도다.

4 Surely He has borne our griefs

And carried our sorrows;

Yet we esteemed Him stricken,

Smitten by God, and afflicted.

5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

6 All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

7 그는 학대를 당하고 고난을 당하였으나,

자기 입을 열지 아니하였으니,

마치 어린 양(a lamb)이 도살장으로 끌려가듯,

털 깎는 자 앞에서 잠잠한 양(a sheep)같이,

그가 자기 입을 열지 아니하였도다.

8 그는 감옥(prison)과 심판(judgment)에서 끌려갔으니,

누가 그의 세대(His generation)를 말하리요?

이는 그가 살아 있는 자들의 땅(the land of the living)에서 끊어졌음이요,

내 백성의 반역(the transgressions of My people) 때문에 그가 징벌을 받았음이라.

9 그의 무덤(His grave)이 악인들(the wicked)과 함께 있었고,

그가 죽을 때 부자(the rich)와 함께 있었으니,

이는 그가 폭력(violence)을 행하지 아니하였고,

그의 입에 속임(any deceit)이 없었음이라.

7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

Yet He opened not His mouth;

He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,

And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,

So He opened not His mouth.

8 He was taken from prison and from judgment,

And who will declare His generation?

For He was cut off from the land of the living;

For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

9 And theya made His grave with the wicked—

But with the rich at His death,

Because He had done no violence,

Nor was any deceit in His mouth.

10 그러나 여호와(the LORD)께서 그를 상하게 하기를 기뻐하시고,

그에게 고통(grief)을 주셨은즉,

그의 영혼을 죄를 위한 제물(an offering for sin)로 드리면,

그가 자기 씨(His seed)를 보며 자기 날(His days)을 길게 할 것이요,

여호와(the LORD)의 기뻐하시는 일(the pleasure)이 그의 손으로 번성하리라.

11 그가 자기 영혼의 수고함(the labor of His soul)을 보고 만족할 것이라.

나의 의로운 종(My righteous Servant)이

그의 지식(His knowledge)으로 많은 사람을 의롭게 하며,

또 그들의 죄악(their iniquities)을 담당하리라.

12 그러므로 내가 그에게 많은 자들 가운데서 한 몫을 나누어 주며,

그가 강한 자들(the strong)과 함께 노략물(the spoil)을 나누리니,

이는 그가 자기 영혼을 죽음(death)에 내어주며,

범죄자(the transgressors) 가운데 헤아림을 받고(was numbered),

많은 사람의 죄(he sin of many)를 담당하며,

범죄자(the transgressors)를 위하여 간구(intercession)하였음이라.

10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him;

He has put Him to grief.

When You make His soul an offering for sin,

He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,

And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.

11 He shall see the labor of His soul,a and be satisfied.

By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,

For He shall bear their iniquities.

12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,

And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,

Because He poured out His soul unto death,

And He was numbered with the transgressors,

And He bore the sin of many,

And made intercession for the transgressors.

이사야서 54장

영원한 평화 언약(A Perpetual Covenant of Peace)

1 잉태(barren)하지 못한 그대여, 노래하라!

해산(labored with child)의 고통을 겪지 못한 그대여, 노래를 터뜨려 외치라!

이는 황폐한 자(the desolate)의 자녀가

결혼한 여자의 자녀보다 많음이라," 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

2 네 장막(tent) 터를 넓히며,

네 거처의 휘장(curtains)을 넓히되 아끼지 말고,

네 줄(cords)을 길게 하며,

네 말뚝(stakes)을 튼튼히 하라.

3 이는 네가 좌우로 확장하며,

네 자손이 나라들(the nations)을 차지하여

황폐한 성읍들(desolate cities)에 거주하게 할 것임이라.

1 “Sing, O barren,

You who have not borne!

Break forth into singing, and cry aloud,

You who have not labored with child!

For more are the children of the desolate

Than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD.

2 “Enlarge the place of your tent,

And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;

Do not spare;

Lengthen your cords,

And strengthen your stakes.

3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left,

And your descendants will inherit the nations,

And make the desolate cities inhabited.

4 두려워하지 말라, 네가 수치를 당하지 아니하리라;

놀라지 말라, 네가 부끄러움을 당하지 아니하리라;

이는 네가 젊은 시절의 수치를 잊을 것이며,

과부 시절의 치욕을 다시 기억하지 아니할 것임이라.

5 이는 그대를 지으신 이(your Maker)가 네 남편(your husband)이시요,

그의 이름은 만군의 여호와(the LORD of hosts)이시며;

그대의 구속자(your Redeemer)는 이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel)시라;

그는 온 땅의 하나님(the God of the whole earth)이라 불리시리라.

6 이는 여호와(the LORD)께서 그대를 부르시되

버림받아 영이 슬픈 여자(a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit)같이,

젊어서 거절당한 아내(a youthful wife when you were refused)같이 하셨음이라,"

네 하나님께서 말씀하시니라.

7 "내가 잠시 그대를 버렸으나,

큰 긍휼(great mercies)로 그대를 모으리라.

8 내가 잠시 진노하여 내 얼굴을 네게서 숨겼으나,

영원한 사랑(everlasting kindness)으로 그대를 긍휼히 여기리라,"

네 구속자 여호와(the LORD, your Redeemer)께서 말씀하시니라.

4 “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed;

Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame;

For you will forget the shame of your youth,

And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.

5 For your Maker is your husband,

The LORD of hosts is His name;

And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;

He is called the God of the whole earth.

6 For the LORD has called you

Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit,

Like a youthful wife when you were refused,”

Says your God.

7 “For a mere moment I have forsaken you,

But with great mercies I will gather you.

8 With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment;

But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,”

Says the LORD, your Redeemer.

9 "이는 내게 노아의 홍수(the waters of Noah)와 같으니;

내가 맹세한 바

노아의 물(the waters of Noah)이 다시는 이 땅(the earth)을 덮지 아니하리라 함같이,

내가 맹세하였노니

내가 너에게 노하지 아니하며, 그대를 책망하지 아니하리라.

10 산들(mountains)은 떠나며 언덕들(hills)은 옮겨질지라도,

나의 사랑(My kindness)은 네게서 떠나지 아니하며,

나의 평화 언약(My covenant of peace)은 흔들리지 아니하리라,"

그대를 긍휼히 여기는 여호와(the LORD who has mercy)께서 말씀하시니라.

9 “For this is like the waters of Noah to Me;

For as I have sworn

That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth,

So have I sworn

That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.

10 For the mountains shall depart

And the hills be removed,

But My kindness shall not depart from you,

Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”

Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.

11 고난당한 자여,

폭풍에 요동하고 위로받지 못한 자여,

보라, 내가 다채로운 보석(colorful gems)으로 네 돌(stones)을 놓으며,

청옥(sapphires)으로 네 기초(foundations)를 놓으리라.

12 내가 홍옥(rubies)으로 네 성벽 꼭대기(pinnacles)를 만들고,

수정(crystal)로 네 문(gates)을 만들며,

네 모든 담(walls)을 귀한 보석(precious stones)으로 만들리라.

13 네 모든 자녀는 여호와(the LORD)께 가르침을 받을 것이요,

네 자녀에게는 큰 평화(great peace)가 있을 것이라.

14 그대는 의(righteousness)로 굳게 세워질 것이며;

그대는 압제에서 멀리 떠날 것이니, 두려워하지 아니할 것이며;

공포에서도 멀리 떠날 것이니, 네게 가까이 오지 아니할 것이라.

15 보라, 그들이 모일지라도 나로 말미암음이 아니니(not because of Me).

누구든지 그대를 치려고 모이는 자는 너 때문에 패망하리라.

11 “O you afflicted one,

Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,

Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems,

And lay your foundations with sapphires.

12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies,

Your gates of crystal,

And all your walls of precious stones.

13 All your children shall be taught by the LORD,

And great shall be the peace of your children.

14 In righteousness you shall be established;

You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;

And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

15 Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.

Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.

16 보라, 내가 대장장이(blacksmith)를 창조하였으니

그가 불 속에서 숯불을 불어 자기 일을 위한 도구를 만들며;

파괴하는 자도 내가 창조하였느니라.

17 그대를 치려고 만든 어떤 무기도 성공하지 못할 것이며,

심판(judgment)에서 그대를 대적하여 일어나는 모든 혀(every tongue)를

네가 정죄(condemn)하리라.

이는 여호와(the LORD)의 종들(servants)의 기업(heritage)이요,

그들의 의(their righteousness)는 내게서 말미암음이라,"

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

16 “Behold, I have created the blacksmith

Who blows the coals in the fire,

Who brings forth an instrument for his work;

And I have created the spoiler to destroy.

17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,

And every tongue which rises against you in judgment

You shall condemn.

This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,

And their righteousness is from Me,”

Says the LORD.

이사야서 55장

풍성한 삶으로의 초대(An Invitation to Abundant Life)

1 오호라, 모든 목마른 그대들아(Everyone who thirsts),

물로 나아오라;

돈 없는 그대(you who have no money)도

와서 사 먹으라.

참으로 와서 돈 없이, 값없이(Without money and without price)

포도주와 젖을 사라.

2 그대들이 어찌하여 양식 아닌 것(what is not bread)을 위하여 돈을 쓰며,

배부르게 못할 것(what does not satisfy)을 위하여 그대들 수고(wages)를 쓰느냐?

내게 부지런히 들으라. 그리하면 그대들이 좋은 것을 먹을 것이며,

그대들 마음(soul)이 풍성함 속에서 즐거워하리라.

3 그대들 귀를 기울이고 내게로 나아오라.

들으라, 그리하면 그대들 영혼(soul)이 살리라;

내가 그대들과 영원한 언약(an everlasting covenant)을 맺으리니—

곧 다윗에게 베푼 확실한 은혜(The sure mercies of David)니라.

4 보라, 내가 그를 백성에게 증인(a witness)으로 세웠고,

백성의 지도자(a leader)와 사령관(a commander)으로 삼았느니라.

5 보라, 네가 알지 못하는 나라(a nation you do not know)를 부르겠고,

그대를 알지 못하는 나라들(nations who do not know you)이 네게로 달려오리니,

이는 네 하나님 여호와(the LORD your God),

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel)로 말미암음이라;

그가 그대를 영화롭게 하였느니라.

1 “Ho! Everyone who thirsts,

Come to the waters;

And you who have no money,

Come, buy and eat.

Yes, come, buy wine and milk

Without money and without price.

2 Why do you spend money for what is not bread,

And your wages for what does not satisfy?

Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,

And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

3 Incline your ear, and come to Me.

Hear, and your soul shall live;

And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—

The sure mercies of David.

4 Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people,

A leader and commander for the people.

5 Surely you shall call a nation you do not know,

And nations who do not know you shall run to you,

Because of the LORD your God,

And the Holy One of Israel;

For He has glorified you.”

6 그대들은 만날 만한 때에 여호와(the LORD)를 찾으라;

가까이 계실 때에 그를 부르라.

7 악인(the wicked)은 그의 길(his way)을 버리고,

불의한 자(the unrighteous man)는 그의 생각(his thoughts)을 버리고,

여호와(the LORD)께로 돌아오라.

그리하면 그가 그를 긍휼히 여기시리라;

우리 하나님께로 돌아오라.

그가 너그럽게 용서하시리라.

6 Seek the LORD while He may be found,

Call upon Him while He is near.

7 Let the wicked forsake his way,

And the unrighteous man his thoughts;

Let him return to the LORD,

And He will have mercy on him;

And to our God,

For He will abundantly pardon.

8 이는 내 생각(My thoughts)이 그대들 생각(your thoughts)과 다르며,

내 길(My ways)이 그대들 길(your ways)과 다름이니라,"

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

9 "이는 하늘(heavens)이 땅(earth)보다 높음같이,

내 길(My ways)이 그대들 길(your ways)보다 높으며,

내 생각(My thoughts)이 그대들 생각(your thoughts)보다 높음이니라.

8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.

9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

So are My ways higher than your ways,

And My thoughts than your thoughts.

10 이는 비와 눈이 하늘에서 내려와

거기로 돌아가지 아니하고,

땅을 적시어

싹이 나게 하며 열매를 맺게 하여,

씨 뿌리는 자에게 씨를 주고

먹는 자에게 양식을 줌과 같으니,

11 내 입에서 나가는 나의 말(My word)도 이와 같아서

헛되이 내게로 돌아오지 아니하고,

내가 기뻐하는 것을 이루며,

내가 보낸 목적을 형통하게 하리라.

10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,

And do not return there,

But water the earth,

And make it bring forth and bud,

That it may give seed to the sower

And bread to the eater,

11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;

It shall not return to Me void,

But it shall accomplish what I please,

And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

12 그대들이 기쁨으로 나아가며,

평안히 인도함을 받으리니;

산들과 언덕들이

그대들 앞에서 노래하며 터져 나오고,

들의 모든 나무가 손뼉을 칠 것이라.

13 가시나무(thorn) 대신 잣나무(cypress tree)가 나며,

찔레(brier) 대신 화석류(myrtle tree)가 날 것이라;

이것이 여호와(the LORD)께 기념이 되며,

끊어지지 아니하는 영원한 표징(an everlasting sign)이 되리라."

12 “For you shall go out with joy,

And be led out with peace;

The mountains and the hills

Shall break forth into singing before you,

And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree,

And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;

And it shall be to the LORD for a name,

For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

이사야서 56장

이방인을 위한 구원(Salvation for the Gentiles)

1 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되:

"그대들은 정의(justice)를 지키며 의(righteousness)를 행하라.

이는 나의 구원(My salvation)이 가까이 이르렀고,

나의 의(My righteousness)가 나타날 것임이라.

2 이 일을 행하는 사람과

그것을 굳게 잡는 사람의 아들,

곧 안식일(the Sabbath)을 더럽히지 아니하며

자기 손을 악을 행하지 아니하도록 지키는 자는 복이 있도다."

“Keep justice, and do righteousness,

For My salvation is about to come,

And My righteousness to be revealed.

2 Blessed is the man who does this,

And the son of man who lays hold on it;

Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,

And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

3 여호와(the LORD)께 연합한 이방인(the foreigner)의 아들은 말하기를,

"여호와(the LORD)께서 나를 그의 백성(His people)에게서 아주 끊으셨다," 하지 말며;

고자(the eunuch)도 말하기를,

"보라, 나는 마른 나무(a dry tree)로다," 하지 말라.

4 여호와(the LORD)께서 이같이 말씀하시되:

"나의 안식일(My Sabbaths)을 지키며

내가 기뻐하는 것을 택하고

나의 언약(My covenant)을 굳게 잡는 고자들(the eunuchs)에게는,

5 내가 내 집(My house)과 내 성벽(My walls) 안에서

아들딸보다 나은 자리와 이름을 주며;

끊어지지 아니할 영원한 이름(an everlasting name)을 그들에게 주리라.

3 Do not let the son of the foreigner

Who has joined himself to the LORD

Speak, saying,

“The LORD has utterly separated me from His people”;

Nor let the eunuch say,

“Here I am, a dry tree.”

4 For thus says the LORD:

“To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths,

And choose what pleases Me,

And hold fast My covenant,

5 Even to them I will give in My house

And within My walls a place and a name

Better than that of sons and daughters;

I will give thema an everlasting name

That shall not be cut off.

6 또 여호와(the LORD)께 연합하여 그를 섬기며,

여호와의 이름(the name of the LORD)을 사랑하여 그의 종(His servants)이 되며,

안식일(the Sabbath)을 더럽히지 아니하며 나의 언약(My covenant)을 굳게 잡는

모든 이방인(the sons of the foreigner)에게는,

7 내가 그들을 나의 거룩한 산(My holy mountain)으로 인도하며

나의 기도하는 집(My house of prayer)에서 그들을 기쁘게 할 것이며,

그들의 번제(burnt offerings)와 희생제물(their sacrifices)은

나의 제단(My altar)에서 받으리니;

이는 나의 집(My house)은 만민(all nations)을 위한 기도하는 집이라 불릴 것임이라."

8 이스라엘의 쫓겨난 자(the outcasts of Israel)를 모으는

주 여호와(the Lord GOD)께서 말씀하시되,

"내가 이미 모은 자들 외에

다른 자들을 그에게 더 모으리라."

6 “Also the sons of the foreigner

Who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him,

And to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants—

Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,

And holds fast My covenant—

7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,

And make them joyful in My house of prayer.

Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices

Will be accepted on My altar;

For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

8 The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says,

“Yet I will gather to him

Others besides those who are gathered to him.”

이스라엘의 무책임한 지도자들(Israel’s Irresponsible Leaders)

9 들의 모든 짐승들아, 와서 삼키라,

숲 속의 모든 짐승들아.

10 그의 파수꾼들(His watchmen)은 눈이 멀었고,

다 무지하며,

다 벙어리 개들이라,

짖지 못하며,

누워 잠자며, 잠들기를 좋아하느니라.

11 참으로 그들은 탐욕스러운 개들이라

족한 줄을 알지 못하는도다.

그들은 깨닫지 못하는

목자(shepherds)들이라;

다 자기 길로 향하며,

각각 자기 이익을 따르니,

자기 영토에서부터 그러하도다.

12 이들은 말하기를, "그대들아, 내가 포도주를 가져오리니,

우리가 독주에 취하도록 마시자;

내일도 오늘과 같고,

더욱 풍족하리라."

9 All you beasts of the field, come to devour,

All you beasts in the forest.

10 His watchmen are blind,

They are all ignorant;

They are all dumb dogs,

They cannot bark;

Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

11 Yes, they are greedy dogs

Which never have enough.

And they are shepherds

Who cannot understand;

They all look to their own way,

Every one for his own gain,

From his own territory.

12 “Come,” one says, “I will bring wine,

And we will fill ourselves with intoxicating drink;

Tomorrow will be as today,

And much more abundant.”

이사야서 57장

이스라엘의 헛된 우상숭배(Israel’s Futile Idolatry)

1-2 의인(the righteous)이 죽으나,

마음에 두는 자 없고(no man takes it to heart);

자비로운 자(merciful men)들이 거두어감을 당하나,

그 의인(the righteous)이 악(evil)에서 거두어지고.

평화(peace)의 세상에 들어가리라는 것을 누구도 알지 못하는도다

(이러한 상황에서 그리고 이런 것을 모르고) 그네들은 자기네 침상에서 편히 쉬고

각기 자기 나름 올곧음의 위선으로 살아가도다(walking his uprightness).

1 The righteous perishes,

And no man takes it to heart;

Merciful men are taken away,

While no one considers

That the righteous is taken away from evil.

2 He shall enter into peace;

They shall rest in their beds,

Each one walking in his uprightness.

3 "마녀(sorceress)의 아들들아,

간음(adulterer)과 창녀(harlot)의 자손들아,

그대들은 이리로 오라!

4 그대들이 누구를 조롱하느냐?

누구를 향하여 입을 크게 벌리고

혀(tongue)를 내밀며 희롱하느냐?

그대들은 반역(transgression)의 자녀가 아니냐,

거짓(falsehood)의 후손이 아니냐,

5 모든 푸른 나무(every green tree) 아래에서 신들을 섬기며 정욕을 불사르고,

골짜기(valleys)에서, 바위 틈(clefts of the rocks) 아래에서 자녀들을 죽이는 자들이 아니냐?

6 시내(stream)의 매끄러운 돌들(smooth stones) 가운데

그대들 몫이 있고;

그것들, 그것들이 그대들 영역(your lot)이라!

그대들이 심지어 그것들에게 전제(drink offering)를 드리고,

곡물 제물(grain offering)을 드렸으니,

내가 이런 것들로 위로를 받겠느냐?

7 높고 높은 산 위에

그대들 침상을 놓았고;

거기에도 올라가서

제사(sacrifice)를 드렸도다.

8 또 문과 문설주 뒤에

그대들 기념물을 세웠으니;

이는 그대들이 나 아닌 다른 신들에게 몸을 드러내고 올라가

그대들 침상을 넓히고

그들과 언약(a covenant with them)을 맺었음이라;

그대들이 그들의 침상을 사랑하여

그들의 벌거벗음을 보았도다.

9 그대들이 향기름(ointment)을 가지고 왕에게 나아가고,

향품(your perfumes)을 더하며,

그대들 사절(your messengers)을 먼 곳으로 보내고,

심지어 스올(Sheol)까지 내려갔도다.

10 그대들 나름 삶의 먼 길(the length of your way)에 고단해졌음에도,

'소망(hope)이 없구나' 말하지 아니하였고;

그대들 나름 손의 힘(the life of your hand)을 신봉하였으므로,

슬퍼하지 아니하였도다.

3 “But come here,

You sons of the sorceress,

You offspring of the adulterer and the harlot!

4 Whom do you ridicule?

Against whom do you make a wide mouth

And stick out the tongue?

Are you not children of transgression,

Offspring of falsehood,

5 Inflaming yourselves with gods under every green tree,

Slaying the children in the valleys,

Under the clefts of the rocks?

6 Among the smooth stones of the stream

Is your portion;

They, they, are your lot!

Even to them you have poured a drink offering,

You have offered a grain offering.

Should I receive comfort in these?

7 “On a lofty and high mountain

You have set your bed;

Even there you went up

To offer sacrifice.

8 Also behind the doors and their posts

You have set up your remembrance;

For you have uncovered yourself to those other than Me,

And have gone up to them;

You have enlarged your bed

And made a covenant with them;

You have loved their bed,

Where you saw their nudity.a

9 You went to the king with ointment,

And increased your perfumes;

You sent your messengers far off,

And even descended to Sheol.

10 You are wearied in the length of your way;

Yet you did not say, ‘There is no hope.’

You have found the life of your hand;

Therefore you were not grieved.

11 그대들이 누구를 두려워하며 놀랐기에

거짓을 말하고

나를 기억하지 아니하며,

마음에 두지 아니하였느냐?

내가 옛적부터 잠잠하였으므로

그대들이 나를 두려워하지 아니함이 아니냐?

12 내가 그대들 의(your righteousness)와

그대들 행위(your works)를 드러내리니,

그것들이 그대들에게 유익하지 못하리라.

13 그대들이 부르짖을 때

그대들 우상들이 그대들을 구원(deliver)하게 하라.

그러나 바람이 그것들을 다 날려 버리고,

숨결(A breath)이 그것들을 가져가리라.

그러나 나를 신뢰(trust in Me)하는 자는 땅(the land)을 차지하고,

나의 거룩한 산(My holy mountain)을 기업(inherit)으로 받으리라."

11 “And of whom have you been afraid, or feared,

That you have lied

And not remembered Me,

Nor taken it to your heart?

Is it not because I have held My peace from of old

That you do not fear Me?

12 I will declare your righteousness

And your works,

For they will not profit you.

13 When you cry out,

Let your collection of idols deliver you.

But the wind will carry them all away,

A breath will take them.

But he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land,

And shall inherit My holy mountain.”

타락한 자를 위한 치유(Healing for the Backslider)

14 사람들이 말하기를,

"돋우라! 돋우라!

길(the way)을 준비하고,

내 백성의 길에서 걸림돌(the stumbling block)을 치우라."

14 And one shall say,

“Heap it up! Heap it up!

Prepare the way,

Take the stumbling block out of the way of My people.”

15 영원(eternity)에 거하며

이름이 거룩하신 높고 존귀한 이(the High and Lofty One)가 이같이 말씀하시되:

"내가 높고 거룩한 곳(the high and holy place)에 거하며,

참회하고 겸손한 심령(a contrite and humble spirit을 가진 자와 함께 거하나니,

이는 겸손한 자의 영(the spirit of the humble)을 소생시키며,

참회하는 자의 마음(the heart of the contrite ones)을 소생시키려 함이라.

16 내가 영원히 다투지 아니하며,

내가 항상 노하지 아니하리니;

이는 내 앞에서 영(the spirit)과 내가 지은 영혼들(the souls)이 피곤할까 함이라.

17 그의 탐욕의 죄악(the iniquity of his covetousness)으로 말미암아

내가 노하여 그를 쳤으며;

내 얼굴을 숨기고 노하였더니

그가 자기 마음 내키는 대로(in the way of his heart) 끊임없이 배역하였도다.

18 내가 그가 하는 방식(his ways)을 보았은즉

그를 고치며(heal him),

그를 인도하고(lead him),

그와 그의 슬퍼하는 자들에게 위로를 다시 주리라.

15 For thus says the High and Lofty One

Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:

“I dwell in the high and holy place,

With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,

To revive the spirit of the humble,

And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

16 For I will not contend forever,

Nor will I always be angry;

For the spirit would fail before Me,

And the souls which I have made.

17 For the iniquity of his covetousness

I was angry and struck him;

I hid and was angry,

And he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him;

I will also lead him,

And restore comforts to him

And to his mourners.

19 내가 입술의 열매(the fruit of the lips)를 창조하나니:

먼 데 있는 자에게도 가까운 데 있는 자에게도 평강(Peace, peace)이 있을지어다,"

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라,

"그리고 내가 그를 고치리라."

20 그러나 악인(the wicked)은 요동하는 바다(the troubled sea) 같아서

안정하지 못하고,

그 물은 진흙(mire)과 더러운 것(dirt)을 솟구쳐 내느니라.

19 “I create the fruit of the lips:

Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near,”

Says the LORD,

“And I will heal him.”

20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea,

When it cannot rest,

Whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

21 "악인(the wicked)에게는 평강(peace)이 없을 것이라,"

내 하나님께서 말씀하시니라.

21“There is no peace,”

Says my God, “for the wicked.”

이사야서 58장

하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 금식(Fasting that Pleases God)

1 크게 외치라, 아끼지 말라;

네 목소리를 나팔같이 높여

내 백성에게 그들의 반역(their transgression)을,

야곱의 집(the house of Jacob)에 그들의 죄(their sins)를 알게 하라.

2 그들이 날마다 나를 찾으며,

나의 길(My ways) 알기를 즐거워하며,

의(righteousness)를 행하고

자기 하나님의 규례(ordinance)를 버리지 아니하는 나라(a nation)같이 행하며,

내게 정의(justice)의 규례(ordinances)를 구하며;

하나님께 가까이 나아가기를 즐거워하는도다.

3 그들이 말하기를, '우리가 금식(fasted)하였는데 주께서 어찌하여 보지 아니하시며?

우리가 우리 영혼(our souls)을 괴롭게 하였는데

주께서 어찌하여 알아주지 아니하시나이까?' 하는도다.

"보라, 그대들이 금식(your fast)하는 날에 오락을 구하며,

그대들 모든 일꾼(all your laborers)을 부당하게 이용하는도다.

4 보라, 그대들이 다투고 논쟁하며,

악의 주먹으로 손찌검하려고 금식하는도다.

그대들 소리 높은 곳에 들리게 하려고

오늘 그대들이 하는 것같이 금식하지는 않게 되리라.

5 내가 택한 금식(a fast that I have chosen)은 이런 것이느냐?

사람이 자기 영혼(his soul)을 괴롭게 하는 날이냐?

그의 머리(his head)를 갈대(bulrush)같이 숙이고,

굵은 베(sackcloth)와 재(ashes)를 펴는 것이냐?

이것을 그대들이 금식(a fast)이라 하며

여호와(the LORD)께 용납될 만한 날(an acceptable day to the LORD)이라 하겠느냐?

1 “Cry aloud, spare not;

Lift up your voice like a trumpet;

Tell My people their transgression,

And the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Yet they seek Me daily,

And delight to know My ways,

As a nation that did righteousness,

And did not forsake the ordinance of their God.

They ask of Me the ordinances of justice;

They take delight in approaching God.

3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and You have not seen?

Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?’

“In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure,

And exploit all your laborers.

4 Indeed you fast for strife and debate,

And to strike with the fist of wickedness.

You will not fast as you do this day,

To make your voice heard on high.

5 Is it a fast that I have chosen,

A day for a man to afflict his soul?

Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush,

And to spread out sackcloth and ashes?

Would you call this a fast,

And an acceptable day to the LORD?

6 내가 택한 금식(the fast)은 이것이 아니냐?

곧 악의 사슬(bonds of wickedness)을 풀어 주고,

무거운 짐(heavy burdens)을 벗겨 주고,

억압받는 자(the oppressed)를 자유롭게 풀어 주며,

모든 멍에(every yoke)를 꺾는 것이 아니냐?

7 주린 자(the hungry)에게 네 양식을 나누어 주며,

쫓겨난 가난한 자(the poor를 네 집으로 들이며,

헐벗은 자(the naked)를 보면 덮어 주고,

네 골육을 피하여 숨지 아니하는 것이 아니냐?

8 그리하면 네 빛(your light)이 아침(morning)같이 터져 나올 것이며,

네 치유(your healing)가 속히 솟아날 것이며,

네 의(your righteousness)가 네 앞에 행하고,

여호와의 영광(the glory of the LORD)이 네 뒤를 지키리라.

9 네가 부를 때에는 여호와(the LORD)께서 응답하시겠고;

네가 부르짖을 때에는 그가 말씀하시기를 '내가 여기 있다(Here I am)' 하시리라.

만일 네가 너희 가운데에서 멍에(the yoke)와

손가락질(the pointing of the finger)과

악한 말(speaking wickedness)을 제거하고,

6 “Is this not the fast that I have chosen:

To loose the bonds of wickedness,

To undo the heavy burdens,

To let the oppressed go free,

And that you break every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,

And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;

When you see the naked, that you cover him,

And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,

Your healing shall spring forth speedily,

And your righteousness shall go before you;

The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer;

You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’

“If you take away the yoke from your midst,

The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,

10 주린 자(the hungry)에게 네 마음(your soul)을 쏟으며

괴로워하는 자(the afflicted soul)를 만족하게 하면,

네 빛(your light)이 어둠(darkness) 속에서 떠오르며,

네 어둠(your darkness)이 낮(noonday)같이 될 것이라.

11 여호와(the LORD)께서 그대를 끊임없이 인도하시며,

메마른 곳에서 네 영혼(your soul)을 만족하게 하며,

네 뼈를 굳건하게 하시리니;

그대는 물 댄 동산(a watered garden) 같고,

물이 끊이지 아니하는 샘(a spring) 같을 것이라.

12 네게서 난 자들이

오래 황폐하였던 곳(the old waste places)을 건축할 것이며;

그대는 여러 세대의 기초(the foundations of many generations)를 일으킬 것이며;

그대는 무너진 데를 보수하는 자(the Repairer of the Breach),

거주할 길을 회복시키는 자(the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In)라 불리리라.

10 If you extend your soul to the hungry

And satisfy the afflicted soul,

Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,

And your darkness shall be as the noonday.

11 The LORD will guide you continually,

And satisfy your soul in drought,

And strengthen your bones;

You shall be like a watered garden,

And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

12 Those from among you

Shall build the old waste places;

You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;

And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,

The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

13 만일 네가 안식일(the Sabbath)에 네 발을 놀리지 않는다면

나의 거룩한 날(My holy day)에 네 즐거움을 행하지 아니한다면

안식일(the Sabbath)을 즐거움, 여호와의 거룩한 날이라 한다면,

여호와를 존귀하게 여기되,

자기 길(your own ways)로 행하지 아니하고

자기 즐거움을 구하지 아니하며,

자기 자신 말을 하지 아니한다면

14 그때 너는 여호와(the LORD) 안에서 즐거워할 것이라;

내가 그대를 땅의 높은 곳(the high hills of the earth)에 태우고,

네 조상 야곱의 기업(the heritage of Jacob your father)으로 그대를 기르리라.

여호와의 입(the mouth of the LORD)이 말씀하셨느니라.

13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,

From doing your pleasure on My holy day,

And call the Sabbath a delight,

The holy day of the LORD honorable,

And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,

Nor finding your own pleasure,

Nor speaking your own words,

14 Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD;

And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,

And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.

The mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

이사야서 59장

하나님과 분리됨(Separated from God)

1 보라, 여호와의 손(the LORD’s hand)이 짧아지지 않으니,

구원(save)하지 못함도 아니요,

그의 귀가 둔하여서

듣지 못함도 아니라.

2 오직 그대들 죄악(your iniquities)이 그대들과 그대들 하나님 사이를 갈라놓았고,

그대들 죄(your sins)가 그의 얼굴을 그대들에게서 숨겨서

그가 듣지 아니하시게 함이니라.

3 이는 그대들 손(your hands)이 피(blood)로 더러워졌고,

그대들 손가락(your fingers)이 죄악(iniquity)으로 더러워졌으며,

그대들 입술(your lips)은 거짓말(lies)을 말하였고,

그대들 혀(your tongue)는 패역(perversity)을 중얼거림이라.

1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened,

That it cannot save;

Nor His ear heavy,

That it cannot hear.

2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;

And your sins have hidden His face from you,

So that He will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood,

And your fingers with iniquity;

Your lips have spoken lies,

Your tongue has muttered perversity.

4 정의(justice)를 찾는 자 없고,

진실(truth)을 위하여 호소하는 자 없으며,

그들은 헛된 것(empty words)을 의뢰하며 거짓말을 말하며,

악(evil)을 잉태하여 죄악(iniquity)을 낳느니라.

5 그들은 독사의 알(vipers’ eggs)을 품으며

거미의 줄(the spider’s web)을 짜나니,

그 알(their eggs)을 먹는 자는 죽을 것이요,

그 알이 깨지면 독사(viper)가 나오느니라.

4 No one calls for justice,

Nor does any plead for truth.

They trust in empty words and speak lies;

They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity.

5 They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web;

He who eats of their eggs dies,

And from that which is crushed a viper breaks out.

6 그들의 줄(their webs)은 옷(garments)이 되지 못하며,

그들의 행위(their works)로는 자기를 가리지 못할 것이니,

그들의 행위(Their works)는 죄악(iniquity)의 행위요,

폭력의 행동(the act of violence)이 그들의 손에 있느니라.

7 그들의 발은 악(evil)으로 달려가며,

죄 없는 피(innocent blood)를 흘리기에 빠르고,

그들의 생각은 죄악(iniquity)의 생각이며,

황폐(wasting)와 파멸(destruction)이 그들의 길에 있느니라.

8 그들은 평화의 길(the way of peace)을 알지 못하며,

그들의 길에는 정의(justice)가 없고,

그들은 스스로 굽은 길(crooked paths)을 만들었으니,

그 길로 가는 자는 평화(peace)를 알지 못할 것이라.

6 Their webs will not become garments,

Nor will they cover themselves with their works;

Their works are works of iniquity,

And the act of violence is in their hands.

7 Their feet run to evil,

And they make haste to shed innocent blood;

Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;

Wasting and destruction are in their paths.

8 The way of peace they have not known,

And there is no justice in their ways;

They have made themselves crooked paths;

Whoever takes that way shall not know peace.

죄의 자백(Sin Confessed)

9 그러므로 정의(justice)가 우리에게서 멀고,

의(righteousness)도 우리에게 미치지 못하므로,

우리는 빛(light)을 바라나 어둠(darkness)뿐이요,

밝음을 바라나 흑암(blackness) 가운데 행하는도다!

10 우리는 맹인(the blind)같이 담을 더듬으며,

눈 없는 사람같이 더듬고,

백주(noonday)에도 황혼(twilight) 때같이 넘어지며,

황량한 곳(desolate places)에 있는 죽은 자(dead men) 같도다.

11 우리는 다 곰같이 으르렁거리고(growl like bears),

비둘기같이 슬피 울며(moan sadly like doves),

정의(justice)를 바라나 없고,

구원(salvation)을 바라나 우리에게서 멀도다.

12 이는 우리의 반역(our transgressions)이 주 앞에서 많고,

우리의 죄(our sins)가 우리를 거슬러 증언함이니,

우리의 반역(our transgressions)이 우리와 함께 있으며,

우리의 죄악(our iniquities)은 우리가 아는 바니라.

13 곧 여호와(the LORD)를 배반하고 속이며,

우리 하나님(our God)을 떠나,

압제(oppression)와 반역(revolt)을 말하며,

마음(heart)에서 거짓말(words of falsehood)을 잉태하여 내는 것이라.

14 정의(justice)는 뒤로 물러가고,

의(righteousness)는 멀리 섰으며;

진실(truth)은 거리에 쓰러지고,

정직(equity)은 들어오지 못하는도다.

15 진실(truth)이 없어지므로,

악(evil)에서 떠나는 자는 노략거리(a prey)가 되는도다.

9 Therefore justice is far from us,

Nor does righteousness overtake us;

We look for light, but there is darkness!

For brightness, but we walk in blackness!

10 We grope for the wall like the blind,

And we grope as if we had no eyes;

We stumble at noonday as at twilight;

We are as dead men in desolate places.

11 We all growl like bears,

And moan sadly like doves;

We look for justice, but there is none;

For salvation, but it is far from us.

12 For our transgressions are multiplied before You,

And our sins testify against us;

For our transgressions are with us,

And as for our iniquities, we know them:

13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD,

And departing from our God,

Speaking oppression and revolt,

Conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

14 Justice is turned back,

And righteousness stands afar off;

For truth is fallen in the street,

And equity cannot enter.

15 So truth fails,

And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.

시온의 구속자(The Redeemer of Zion)

여호와(the LORD)께서 보시고 정의(justice)가 없는 것을 기뻐하지 아니하시고,

16 사람이 없는 것을 보시며 중재자(intercessor)가 없는 것을 놀라셨으므로,

자기 팔로 자기에게 구원(salvation)을 베푸시며,

자기 의(His own righteousness)로 그를 붙드셨도다.

17 그는 의(righteousness)를 갑옷(breastplate)으로 삼으시고,

구원(salvation)을 투구(helmet) 삼아 머리에 쓰시며,

보복의 옷(garments of vengeance)을 입으시고,

열정(zeal)을 외투(cloak) 삼아 몸에 두르셨도다.

18 그들의 행위대로(According to their deeds),

그들의 행위대로 갚으시되(accordingly He will repay),

그의 대적(His adversaries)에게는 진노(fury)를,

그의 원수(His enemies)에게는 보응(recompense)을 하시며,

해변 지방 사람들(the coastlands)에도 마땅히 보응(fully repay)하시리라.

19 서쪽에서 여호와의 이름(the name of the LORD)을 두려워하며,

해 뜨는 곳에서 그의 영광(His glory)을 두려워할 것이니,

원수(the enemy)가 홍수같이 밀려올 때

여호와의 영(the Spirit of the LORD)이 그를 막아설 것이라.

16 He saw that there was no man,

And wondered that there was no intercessor;

Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him;

And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.

17 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate,

And a helmet of salvation on His head;

He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing,

And was clad with zeal as a cloak.

18 According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay,

Fury to His adversaries,

Recompense to His enemies;

The coastlands He will fully repay.

19 So shall they fear

The name of the LORD from the west,

And His glory from the rising of the sun;

When the enemy comes in like a flood,

The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.

20 "구속자(The Redeemer)가 시온(Zion)에 올 것이고,

야곱(Jacob) 가운데에서 죄과(transgression)에서 돌이키는 자에게 임하리라,"

20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion,

And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,”

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

21 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시되, "내가 그들과 더불어 세운 나의 언약(My covenant)이 이러하니, 네 위에 있는 나의 영(My Spirit)과 내가 네 입에 둔 나의 말(My words)이 이제부터 영원토록 네 입에서와 네 자손의 입에서와 네 자손의 자손의 입에서 떠나지 아니하리라," 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

이사야서 60장

이방인들이 시온을 축복함(The Gentiles Bless Zion)

1 일어나라, 빛을 발하라;

이는 그대 빛(your light)이 이르렀고!

여호와의 영광(the glory of the LORD)이 그대 위에 떠올랐음이니라.

2 보라, 어둠(darkness)이 땅(the earth)을 덮고,

짙은 어둠(deep darkness)이 백성(the people)을 덮으려니와;

오직 여호와(the LORD)께서 그대 위에 떠오르시며,

그의 영광(His glory)이 그대 위에 나타나리라.

3 이방인(the Gentiles)들이 그대 빛(your light)으로 나아오고,

왕들이 떠오르는 그대의 밝음(the brightness of your rising)으로 나아오리라.

1 Arise, shine;

For your light has come!

And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.

2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,

And deep darkness the people;

But the LORD will arise over you,

And His glory will be seen upon you.

3 The Gentiles shall come to your light,

And kings to the brightness of your rising.

4 그대 눈을 들어 주위를 보라.

그들이 다 모여 그대에게로 오느니라;

그대 아들들은 먼 곳에서 오고,

그대 딸들은 그대 곁에서 양육 받으리라.

5 그때 그대가 보고 기뻐 빛을 내며,

그대 마음이 기쁨으로 부풀어 오르리니;

이는 바다의 풍부함(the abundance of the sea)이 그대에게로 돌아오고,

이방인들의 재물(the wealth of the Gentiles)이 그대에게로 올 것임이라.

6 많은 낙타(camels) 떼가 그대 땅을 덮을 것이며,

미디안(Midian)과 에바(Ephah)의 어린 낙타들이 그리할 것이라;

스바(Sheba)에서 온 자들이 다 이르러

금과 유향(incense)을 가져오며,

여호와의 찬송(the praises of the LORD)을 전파하리라.

7 게달(Kedar)의 모든 양 떼(flocks)가 그대에게로 모여들고,

느바욧(Nebaioth)의 숫양(rams)이 그대를 섬길 것이며;

그것들이 내 제단(My altar)에 기꺼이 올라가리니,

내가 내 영광의 집(the house of My glory)을 영화롭게 하리라.

4 “Lift up your eyes all around, and see:

They all gather together, they come to you;

Your sons shall come from afar,

And your daughters shall be nursed at your side.

5 Then you shall see and become radiant,

And your heart shall swell with joy;

Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you,

The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.

6 The multitude of camels shall cover your land,

The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah;

All those from Sheba shall come;

They shall bring gold and incense,

And they shall proclaim the praises of the LORD.

7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you,

The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you;

They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar,

And I will glorify the house of My glory.

8 구름(cloud)같이,

비둘기(doves)같이 그 보금자리로 날아오는 저것들은 누구냐?

9 해변 지방 사람들(coastlands)이 반드시 나를 기다리겠고;

다시스(Tarshish)의 배들이 먼저 와서

그대 아들들과 그들의 은과 금을 함께 먼 곳에서

그대 하나님 여호와(the LORD your God)의 이름에게,

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel)에게로 실어오리니,

이는 그가 그대를 영화롭게 하였음이라.

8 “Who are these who fly like a cloud,

And like doves to their roosts?

9 Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me;

And the ships of Tarshish will come first,

To bring your sons from afar,

Their silver and their gold with them,

To the name of the LORD your God,

And to the Holy One of Israel,

Because He has glorified you.

10 이방인(foreigners)들의 아들들이 그대 성벽을 쌓을 것이요,

그들의 왕들이 그대를 섬길 것이라;

이는 내가 진노(My wrath)로 그대를 쳤으나,

나의 은혜(My favor)로 그대를 긍휼히 여겼음이라.

11 그러므로 그대 성문이 항상 열려 낮이나 밤이나 닫히지 아니하리니,

이는 사람들이 이방인들의 재물(the wealth of the Gentiles)과

그들의 왕들을 줄지어 그대에게로 가져오게 하려 함이라.

12 그대를 섬기지 아니하는 백성과 왕국은 멸망하리니,

그 나라들은 완전히 파멸되리라.

10 “The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls,

And their kings shall minister to you;

For in My wrath I struck you,

But in My favor I have had mercy on you.

11 Therefore your gates shall be open continually;

They shall not be shut day or night,

That men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles,

And their kings in procession.

12 For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish,

And those nations shall be utterly ruined.

13 레바논의 영광(the glory of Lebanon),

곧 잣나무(cypress), 소나무(pine), 황양목(box tree)이 함께 그대에게 이르러

내 성소의 곳(the place of My sanctuary)을 아름답게 할 것이며;

내가 내 발 두는 곳(the place of My feet)을 영화롭게 하리라.

14 또 그대를 괴롭게 하던 자의 아들들이

몸을 굽혀 그대에게 나아오고,

그대를 멸시하던 모든 자가

그대 발아래 엎드려 절하며;

그대를 일컬어 여호와의 성읍(The City of the LORD),

이스라엘의 거룩한 이(the Holy One of Israel)의 시온(Zion)이라 하리라.

13 “The glory of Lebanon shall come to you,

The cypress, the pine, and the box tree together,

To beautify the place of My sanctuary;

And I will make the place of My feet glorious.

14 Also the sons of those who afflicted you

Shall come bowing to you,

And all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at the soles of your feet;

And they shall call you The City of the LORD,

Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

15 전에 그대가 버림을 당하며 미움을 당하여

그대를 지나가는 자가 없었으나,

이제는 내가 그대를 영원한 영화(an eternal excellence)와

여러 세대(many generations)의 기쁨이 되게 하리라.

16 그대가 이방인(the Gentiles)의 젖을 빨며,

왕들 젖가슴(the breast of kings)을 먹을 것이요;

나 여호와(I, the LORD)는 그대 구원자(your Savior)요

그대 구속자(your Redeemer), 야곱의 전능자(the Mighty One of Jacob)인 줄을 그대가 알리라.

15 “Whereas you have been forsaken and hated,

So that no one went through you,

I will make you an eternal excellence,

A joy of many generations.

16 You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles,

And milk the breast of kings;

You shall know that I, the LORD, am your Savior

And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

17 놋 대신 금을 가져오고,

쇠 대신 은을 가져오며,

나무 대신 놋을 가져오고,

돌 대신 쇠를 가져오며;

내가 또 그대 관리(your officers)를 평화(peace)로 삼고,

그대 감독(your magistrates)을 의(righteousness)로 삼으리니.

18 다시는 그대 땅에서 폭력이 들리지 아니하며,

그대 국경 안에서 황폐(wasting)와 파괴(destruction)가 없으리니;

오직 그대는 그대 성벽(your walls)을 구원(Salvation)이라 부르며,

그대 성문(your gates)을 찬송(Praise)이라 부르리라.

17 “Instead of bronze I will bring gold,

Instead of iron I will bring silver,

Instead of wood, bronze,

And instead of stones, iron.

I will also make your officers peace,

And your magistrates righteousness.

18 Violence shall no longer be heard in your land,

Neither wasting nor destruction within your borders;

But you shall call your walls Salvation,

And your gates Praise.

하나님이 자기 백성의 영광이 되심(God the Glory of His People)

19 낮에는 해가 다시는 그대 빛이 되지 아니하며,

밤에는 달도 그대 밝음을 비추지 아니할 것이요;

오직 여호와(the LORD)께서 그대 영원한 빛(an everlasting light)이 되시며,

그대 하나님(your God)이 그대 영광(your glory)이 되시리라.

20 다시는 그대 해가 지지 아니하며,

그대 달도 물러가지 아니할 것이니;

이는 여호와(the LORD)께서 그대 영원한 빛(your everlasting light)이 되시고,

그대 슬픔의 날(the days of your mourning)이 끝날 것임이라.

21 그대 백성이 다 의롭게 되어

영원히 땅을 차지하리니,

이는 내가 심은 가지(the branch of My planting)요,

내 손으로 만든 것(the work of My hands)이니,

나로 영광을 받게 하려 함이라.

22 그 작은 자(A little one)가 천(a thousand)을 이루겠고,

그 약한 자(a small one)가 강한 나라(a strong nation)를 이루리니.

나 여호와(I, the LORD)가 때가 되면 속히 이루리라."

19 “The sun shall no longer be your light by day,

Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;

But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light,

And your God your glory.

20 Your sun shall no longer go down,

Nor shall your moon withdraw itself;

For the LORD will be your everlasting light,

And the days of your mourning shall be ended.

21 Also your people shall all be righteous;

They shall inherit the land forever,

The branch of My planting,

The work of My hands,

That I may be glorified.

22 A little one shall become a thousand,

And a small one a strong nation.

I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time.”

이사야서 61장

구원의 복된 소식(The Good News of Salvation)

1 주 여호와의 영(The Spirit of the Lord GOD)이 내게 임하셨으니,

이는 여호와(the LORD)께서 내게 기름을 부으사

가난한 자(the poor)에게 좋은 소식을 전하게 하려 하심이라;

나를 보내사 마음 상한 자(the brokenhearted)를 고치며,

포로 된 자(the captives)에게 자유를, 갇힌 자에게 감옥 문을 열어 주며;

2 여호와의 은혜의 해(the acceptable year of the LORD)와

우리 하나님의 보복의 날(the day of vengeance)을 선포하며,

모든 슬픈 자를 위로하되,

3 시온(Zion)에서 슬퍼하는 자에게 재(ashes) 대신 화관(beauty), 슬픔(mourning) 대신 기쁨의 기름(the oil of joy), 무거운 심령(the spirit of heaviness) 대신 찬송의 겉옷(the garment of praise)을 주어,

그들을 의의 나무(trees of righteousness), 곧 여호와께서 심으신 것(the planting of the LORD)이라 일컬음을 받아 그로 영광을 나타내게 하려 하심이라.

1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the LORD has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,

And the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn,

3 To console those who mourn in Zion,

To give them beauty for ashes,

The oil of joy for mourning,

The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

4 그들은 오래된 폐허를 다시 쌓으며,

옛날에 황폐하였던 곳을 일으키며,

무너진 성읍들,

여러 세대 동안 황폐하였던 곳을 보수할 것이라.

5 이방인(strangers)이 서서 그대들 양 떼를 먹이며,

외국인(the foreigner)의 아들들이

그대들 농부와 포도원지기가 될 것이라.

6 오직 그대들은 여호와의 제사장(the priests of the LORD)이라 일컬음을 받을 것이요,

사람들이 그대들을 우리 하나님의 종(the servants of our God)이라 부를 것이며,

그대들이 이방인의 재물(the riches of the Gentiles)을 먹으며

그들의 영광(their glory)으로 자랑할 것이라.

7 그대들이 수치(your shame) 대신 갑절의 영광(double honor)을 얻으며,

수욕(confusion) 대신 그대들 몫(their portion)으로 기뻐할 것이라.

그러므로 그대들 땅에서 그들이 갑절을 얻고

영원한 기쁨(everlasting joy)이 그들에게 있으리라.

8 이는 나 여호와(I, the LORD)는 정의(justice)를 사랑하며,

번제물을 위한 강탈(robbery for burnt offering)을 미워하여

성실함으로 그들의 행할 바를 인도하고

그들과 영원한 언약(an everlasting covenant)을 맺을 것임이라.

9 그들의 자손(their descendants)이 이방 나라들(the Gentiles) 가운데에 알려지고,

그들의 후손(their offspring)이 만민 가운데에 알려지리니,

그들을 보는 자마다 그들이 여호와(the LORD)께 복 받은 자손임을 인정하리라.

4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins,

They shall raise up the former desolations,

And they shall repair the ruined cities,

The desolations of many generations.

5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,

And the sons of the foreigner

Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

6 But you shall be named the priests of the LORD,

They shall call you the servants of our God.

You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,

And in their glory you shall boast.

7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor,

And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.

Therefore in their land they shall possess double;

Everlasting joy shall be theirs.

8 “For I, the LORD, love justice;

I hate robbery for burnt offering;

I will direct their work in truth,

And will make with them an everlasting covenant.

9 Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,

And their offspring among the people.

All who see them shall acknowledge them,

That they are the posterity whom the LORD has blessed.”

10 내가 여호와(the LORD)로 말미암아 크게 기뻐하며,

내 영혼(My soul)이 내 하나님(my God)으로 말미암아 즐거워하리니, 이는 그가 구원의 옷(the garments of salvation)으로 나를 입히시며,

의의 겉옷(the robe of righteousness)으로 나를 덮으셨음이라.

신랑이 예복(ornaments)으로 단장함 같고

신부가 보석(her jewels)으로 단장함 같게 하셨음이라.

11 땅(the earth)이 싹을 내며

동산(the garden)이 그 가운데 뿌려진 것을 자라게 함같이,

주 여호와(the Lord GOD)께서 모든 나라(all the nations) 앞에서

의(righteousness)와 찬송(praise)을 솟아나게 하시리라.

이사야서 62장

시온 구원의 확신(Assurance of Zion’s Salvation)

1 내가 시온(Zion)의 의를 위하여 잠잠하지 아니하며,

예루살렘(Jerusalem)의 의를 위하여 쉬지 아니하리니,

그의 의(her righteousness)가 빛같이 나타나고,

그의 구원(her salvation)이 타는 횃불같이 될 때까지 그리하리라.

2 이방 나라(the Gentiles)들이 그대 의(your righteousness)를 보겠고,

모든 왕이 그대 영광(your glory)을 보리니,

여호와의 입(the mouth of the LORD)이 정하실 새 이름으로 그대를 부르리라.

3 그대는 또 여호와의 손(the hand of the LORD)에 있는

영화로운 면류관(a crown of glory)이 되며,

그대 하나님의 손(the hand of your God)에 있는 왕관(a royal diadem)이 될 것이라.

4 다시는 그대를 버림받은 자(Forsaken)라 부르지 아니하며,

그대 땅을 다시는 황폐한 곳(Desolate)이라 부르지 아니하고,

오직 그대를 헵시바(Hephzibah)라 하며 그대 땅을 쁄라(Beulah)라 하리니;

이는 여호와(the LORD)께서 그대를 기뻐하시며,

그대 땅이 결혼한 여자같이 될 것임이라.

5 마치 청년이 처녀와 결혼함같이

그대 아들들이 그대와 결혼하겠고;

신랑이 신부를 기뻐함같이

그대 하나님(your God)이 그대를 기뻐하시리라.

1 For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace,

And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,

Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,

And her salvation as a lamp that burns.

2 The Gentiles shall see your righteousness,

And all kings your glory.

You shall be called by a new name,

Which the mouth of the LORD will name.

3 You shall also be a crown of glory

In the hand of the LORD,

And a royal diadem

In the hand of your God.

4 You shall no longer be termed Forsaken,

Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate;

But you shall be called Hephzibah,a and your land Beulah;b

For the LORD delights in you,

And your land shall be married.

5 For as a young man marries a virgin,

So shall your sons marry you;

And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,

So shall your God rejoice over you.

6 예루살렘(Jerusalem)아, 내가 그대 성벽 위에 파수꾼(watchmen)을 세웠으니,

그들은 밤낮으로 잠잠하지 아니할 것이라.

여호와(the LORD)께 기억나게 하는 그대들이여, 잠잠하지 말며,

7 여호와(the LORD)께서 예루살렘(Jerusalem)을 세우사

세상에서 찬송(a praise)이 되게 하시기까지

그에게 쉬지 못하게 하라.

6 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;

They shall never hold their peace day or night.

You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent,

7 And give Him no rest till He establishes

And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

8 여호와(the LORD)께서

그의 오른손(His right hand)과 그의 능력의 팔(the arm of His strength)로 맹세하시되:

"내가 다시는 그대 곡식을

그대 원수에게 양식으로 주지 아니하겠고;

이방인(the foreigner)의 아들들이 그대가 수고하여 얻은 새 포도주를 마시지 못하게 하리라.

9 오직 곡식을 거둔 자가 그것을 먹고 여호와(the LORD)를 찬양할 것이요;

포도주를 모은 자가 나의 거룩한 뜰(My holy courts)에서 그것을 마시리라."

8 The LORD has sworn by His right hand

And by the arm of His strength:

“Surely I will no longer give your grain

As food for your enemies;

And the sons of the foreigner shall not drink your new wine,

For which you have labored.

9 But those who have gathered it shall eat it,

And praise the LORD;

Those who have brought it together shall drink it in My holy courts.”

10 지나가라,

성문으로 지나가라!

백성을 위하여 길(the way)을 준비하고;

돋우라,

대로를 돋우라!

돌을 치우고,

만민을 위하여 기(a banner)를 들라!

10 Go through,

Go through the gates!

Prepare the way for the people;

Build up,

Build up the highway!

Take out the stones,

Lift up a banner for the peoples!

11 보라, 여호와(the LORD)께서

땅 끝(the end of the world)까지 선포하시되:

"시온의 딸(the daughter of Zion)에게 이르라,

'보라, 네 구원(your salvation)이 이르렀느니라;

보라, 그의 상급(His reward)이 그와 함께 있고,

그의 보응(His work)이 그 앞에 있느니라.' "

12 사람들이 그들을 일컬어 거룩한 백성(The Holy People),

여호와께서 구속하신 자(The Redeemed)라 하겠고;

그대를 일컬어 찾으시는 자,

버림받지 아니한 성읍(A City Not Forsaken)이라 하리라.

11 Indeed the LORD has proclaimed

To the end of the world:

“Say to the daughter of Zion,

‘Surely your salvation is coming;

Behold, His reward is with Him,

And His work before Him.’ ”

12 And they shall call them The Holy People,

The Redeemed of the LORD;

And you shall be called Sought Out,

A City Not Forsaken.

이사야서 63장

심판과 구원의 여호와(The LORD of Judgment and Salvation)

1 에돔(Edom)에서 오며,

보스라(Bozrah)에서 물들인 옷을 입고 오는 이 누구시냐?

그 화려한 의복(His apparel)을 입고,

그 큰 능력(His great strength)으로 다니는 이 누구시냐?—

"나는 의(righteousness)로 말하며 구원하기에 능한 자라."

1 Who is this who comes from Edom,

With dyed garments from Bozrah,

This One who is glorious in His apparel,

Traveling in the greatness of His strength?—

“I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

2 어찌하여 그대 의복(Your apparel)이 붉으며,

그대 옷(Your garments)이 포도즙 틀(winepress)을 밟는 자 같으냐?

2 Why is Your apparel red,

And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?

3 "내가 홀로 포도즙 틀(the winepress)을 밟았고,

백성 가운데 나와 함께 한 자 없었음이라.

내가 나의 분노(My anger)로 그들을 밟고,

나의 진노(My fury)로 그들을 짓밟았으니;

그들의 피(Their blood)가 내 옷(My garments)에 튀어

내 모든 의복(all My robes)을 더럽혔음이라.

4 이는 보복의 날( the day of vengeance)이 내 마음(My heart)에 있고,

내 구속받은 자의 해(the year of My redeemed)가 이르렀음이라.

5 내가 보았으나 도와줄 자 없고,

붙들어 줄 자 없는 것을 보고 놀랐으므로;

내 팔이 나를 위하여 구원(salvation)을 이루었고;

내 진노가 나를 붙들었음이라.

6 내가 나의 분노로 백성을 짓밟고,

나의 진노로 그들을 취하게 하며,

그들의 힘을 땅에 쏟았느니라."

3 “I have trodden the winepress alone,

And from the peoples no one was with Me.

For I have trodden them in My anger,

And trampled them in My fury;

Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments,

And I have stained all My robes.

4 For the day of vengeance is in My heart,

And the year of My redeemed has come.

5 I looked, but there was no one to help,

And I wondered

That there was no one to uphold;

Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me;

And My own fury, it sustained Me.

6 I have trodden down the peoples in My anger,

Made them drunk in My fury,

And brought down their strength to the earth.”

기억된 하나님의 자비(God’s Mercies Remembered)

7 내가 여호와의 인자함(the lovingkindnesses of the LORD)과

여호와 찬송(the praises of the LORD)을 말하되,

여호와(the LORD)께서 우리에게 베푸신 모든 것과

이스라엘 집(the house of Israel)에 베푸신

큰 은혜(great goodness) 곧 그 긍휼(His mercies)과

그 많은 인자함(the multitude of His lovingkindnesses)을 따라

그들에게 베푸신 것을 말하리라.

8 이는 그가 말씀하시기를, "그들은 실로 나의 백성이요,

거짓말하지 아니할 자녀라" 하셨음이라.

그리하여 그가 그들의 구원자(their Savior)가 되셨느니라.

9 그들이 모든 고난 가운데 있을 때

그도 고난을 당하셨으며,

그의 임재의 천사(the Angel of His Presence)가 그들을 구원하였고;

그의 사랑과 그의 긍휼(His pity)로 그들을 구속(redeemed)하시고;

옛적의 모든 날에 그들을 안으시고 다니셨느니라.

10 그러나 그들이 반역하여 그의 거룩한 영(His Holy Spirit)을 슬프게 하였으므로;

그가 돌이켜 그들을 대적하는 원수가 되사

친히 그들을 치셨느니라.

7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD

And the praises of the LORD,

According to all that the LORD has bestowed on us,

And the great goodness toward the house of Israel,

Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies,

According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.

8 For He said, “Surely they are My people,

Children who will not lie.”

So He became their Savior.

9 In all their affliction He was afflicted,

And the Angel of His Presence saved them;

In His love and in His pity He redeemed them;

And He bore them and carried them

All the days of old.

10 But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit;

So He turned Himself against them as an enemy,

And He fought against them.

11 그때 그가 옛적의 날 곧 모세(Moses)와 그의 백성을 기억하여 이르시되:

"그의 양 떼의 목자(shepherd)와 함께

그들을 바다에서 인도하여 올리신 이가 어디 계시뇨?

그들 가운데 그의 거룩한 영(His Holy Spirit)을 두신 이가 어디 계시뇨?

12 그의 영광스러운 팔로 모세의 오른손(the right hand of Moses)을 붙잡고

그들 앞에서 물을 갈라

영원한 이름(an everlasting name)을 내시며 그들을 인도하신 이가 어디 계시뇨?

13 그들을 깊은 곳(the deep)으로 인도하시되

광야의 말(a horse in the wilderness)같이 하여

넘어지지 않게 하신 이가 어디 계시뇨?"

11 Then he remembered the days of old,

Moses and his people, saying:

“Where is He who brought them up out of the sea

With the shepherd of His flock?

Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,

12 Who led them by the right hand of Moses,

With His glorious arm,

Dividing the water before them

To make for Himself an everlasting name,

13 Who led them through the deep,

As a horse in the wilderness,

That they might not stumble?”

14 마치 짐승(beast)이 골짜기(valley)로 내려가며

여호와의 영(the Spirit of the LORD)이 그에게 안식을 주듯

주께서 주의 백성(Your people)을 인도하사

주의 영광스러운 이름(a glorious name)을 내셨나이다.

14 As a beast goes down into the valley,

And the Spirit of the LORD causes him to rest,

So You lead Your people,

To make Yourself a glorious name.

참회의 기도(A Prayer of Repentance)

15 하늘(heaven)에서 굽어보시옵소서,

거룩하고 영화로운 주의 거처(Your habitation)에서 보시옵소서.

주의 열정(Your zeal)과 주의 능력(Your strength),

주의 애끓는 마음(the yearning of Your heart)과

주의 긍휼(Your mercies)이 내게 향하여 어디에 있나이까?

억제되었나이까?

16 진실로 주는 우리 아버지(our Father)시오니,

아브라함(Abraham)은 우리를 알지 못하고,

이스라엘(Israel)은 우리를 인정하지 아니할지라도

오, 여호와(LORD), 주는 우리 아버지(our Father)시라;

영원부터 우리의 구속자(our Redeemer)는 주의 이름이시니이다.

17 오, 여호와(LORD)여, 어찌하여 우리를 주의 길(Your ways)에서 떠나게 하시고,

우리의 마음(our heart)을 굳게 하여 주를 두려워하지 아니하게 하셨나이까?

주의 종들(Your servants), 곧 주의 기업(Your inheritance)의 지파들을 위해 돌아오시옵소서.

18 주의 거룩한 백성(Your holy people)이 잠시 주의 땅을 차지하였사오나;

우리의 대적(our adversaries)이 주의 성소(Your sanctuary)를 짓밟았나이다.

19 우리는 주께서 옛적부터 다스리지 아니하시던 자,

주의 이름으로 불리지 아니하던 자같이 되었나이다.

15 Look down from heaven,

And see from Your habitation, holy and glorious.

Where are Your zeal and Your strength,

The yearning of Your heart and Your mercies toward me?

Are they restrained?

16 Doubtless You are our Father,

Though Abraham was ignorant of us,

And Israel does not acknowledge us.

You, O LORD, are our Father;

Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.

17 O LORD, why have You made us stray from Your ways,

And hardened our heart from Your fear?

Return for Your servants’ sake,

The tribes of Your inheritance.

18 Your holy people have possessed it but a little while;

Our adversaries have trodden down Your sanctuary.

19 We have become like those of old, over whom You never ruled,

Those who were never called by Your name.

이사야서 64장

1 원하건대 주께서 하늘을 가르시고

강림하사

주 앞에서 산들이 진동하게 하옵소서—

2 불이 섶(brushwood)을 사르며,

불이 물을 끓임같이 하사

주의 이름(Your name)을 주의 대적(Your adversaries)에게 알게 하시며,

이방 나라들(the nations)이 주 앞에서 떨게 하옵소서!

3 주께서 우리가 바라지 못하던 놀라운 일을 행하시던 때에,

주께서 강림하시므로,

산들이 주 앞에서 진동하였나이다.

4 세상이 시작된 이래로

사람들이 귀로 듣지도 못하고 깨닫지도 못하였으며,

눈으로 주 외에는 자기를 기다리는 자를 위하여 행하는 신(God)을 보지 못하였나이다.

5 주께서 기뻐하며 의(righteousness)를 행하는 자,

곧 주의 길(Your ways)에서 주를 기억하는 자를 만나셨나이다.

주께서 진노하셨사오니 이는 우리가 죄를 지었음이니이다—

이러한 길로 우리가 계속되오니;

우리가 구원(saved)을 받아야 할 필요가 있나이다.

1 Oh, that You would rend the heavens!

That You would come down!

That the mountains might shake at Your presence—

2 As fire burns brushwood,

As fire causes water to boil—

To make Your name known to Your adversaries,

That the nations may tremble at Your presence!

3 When You did awesome things for which we did not look,

You came down,

The mountains shook at Your presence.

4 For since the beginning of the world

Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear,

Nor has the eye seen any God besides You,

Who acts for the one who waits for Him.

5 You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness,

Who remembers You in Your ways.

You are indeed angry, for we have sinned—

In these ways we continue;

And we need to be saved.

6 그러나 우리는 다 부정한 물건(an unclean thing) 같고,

우리의 모든 의(all our righteousnesses)는 더러운 옷(filthy rags) 같으며;

우리는 다 잎사귀같이 시들고,

우리의 죄악(our iniquities)은 바람같이 우리를 몰아가나이다.

7 주의 이름(Your name)을 부르는 자가 없고,

주를 붙잡으려고 스스로 분발하는 자가 없사오니;

이는 주께서 주의 얼굴(Your face)을 우리에게서 숨기시고,

우리의 죄악(our iniquities) 때문에 우리를 소멸시키셨음이니이다.

6 But we are all like an unclean thing,

And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;

We all fade as a leaf,

And our iniquities, like the wind,

Have taken us away.

7 And there is no one who calls on Your name,

Who stirs himself up to take hold of You;

For You have hidden Your face from us,

And have consumed us because of our iniquities.

8 그러나 이제 오 여호와(LORD)여,

주는 우리 아버지(our Father)시니이다;

우리는 진흙(the clay)이요 주는 우리 토기장이(our potter)시니;

우리는 다 주의 손(Your hand)으로 지으신 것이니이다.

9 오 여호와(LORD)여, 너무 격노하지 마옵시며,

죄악(iniquity)을 영원히 기억하지 마옵소서.

원하건대 보옵소서—우리는 다 주의 백성(Your people)이니이다!

10 주의 거룩한 성읍들(Your holy cities)이 광야(a wilderness)가 되었으며,

시온(Zion)이 광야(a wilderness)가 되었고,

예루살렘(Jerusalem)이 황폐하였나이다.

11 우리의 거룩하고 아름다운 성전(Our holy and beautiful temple),

곧 우리 조상들이 주를 찬양하던 곳이

불에 타 버렸으며;

우리의 모든 즐거운 것이 황폐하였나이다.

12 오 여호와(O LORD)여, 이러한 일 때문에 주께서 스스로 자제하시겠나이까?

주께서 잠잠하시고 우리를 심히 괴롭게하시겠나이까?

8 But now, O LORD,

You are our Father;

We are the clay, and You our potter;

And all we are the work of Your hand.

9 Do not be furious, O LORD,

Nor remember iniquity forever;

Indeed, please look—we all are Your people!

10 Your holy cities are a wilderness,

Zion is a wilderness,

Jerusalem a desolation.

11 Our holy and beautiful temple,

Where our fathers praised You,

Is burned up with fire;

And all our pleasant things are laid waste.

12 Will You restrain Yourself because of these things, O LORD?

Will You hold Your peace, and afflict us very severely?

하나님 심판의 의(The Righteousness of God’s Judgment)

1 “나는 나를 구하지 아니하던 자에게 구함을 받았고;

나를 찾지 아니하던 자에게 발견되었으며.

내 이름(My name)으로 불리지 아니하던 나라에게 이르기를,

‘내가 여기 있노라(Here I am), 내가 여기 있노라(Here I am)’ 하였노라.

2 내가 종일토록(all day long) 반역하는 백성(a rebellious people)에게 내 손을 펼쳤나니,

그들은 자기 생각(their own thoughts)을 따라

좋지 아니한 길로 행하며;

3 늘 내 앞에서 나를 격노하게 하는 백성이라.

그들은 동산에서 제사(sacrifice)하며,

벽돌 제단 위에서 향(incense)을 피우며;

4 무덤 사이에 앉으며,

묘실에서 밤을 지내며;

돼지고기(swine’s flesh)를 먹으며,

가증한 것의 국물(the broth of abominable things)이 그들의 그릇에 있고;

5 사람에게 이르기를 ‘그대는 네 자리에 있으라(Keep to yourself),

내게 가까이 오지 말라(Do not come near me),

나는 그대보다 거룩하다(For I am holier than you)!’ 하나니.

이러한 자들은 내 코의 연기(smoke in My nostrils)요,

종일 타는 불(a fire that burns all the day)이라.

1 “I was sought by those who did not ask for Me;

I was found by those who did not seek Me.

I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’

To a nation that was not called by My name.

2 I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people,

Who walk in a way that is not good,

According to their own thoughts;

3 A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face;

Who sacrifice in gardens,

And burn incense on altars of brick;

4 Who sit among the graves,

And spend the night in the tombs;

Who eat swine’s flesh,

And the broth of abominable things is in their vessels;

5 Who say, ‘Keep to yourself,

Do not come near me,

For I am holier than you!’

These are smoke in My nostrils,

A fire that burns all the day.

6 “보라, 내 앞에 기록되었으니:

내가 잠잠하지 아니하고 반드시 보응하되—

그들의 품에 보응하리니—

7 그대들 죄악(Your iniquities)과 그대들 조상들의 죄악을 함께 그리하리라,”

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라,

“그들은 산들 위에서 향을 피우고

언덕들 위에서 나를 모독하였음이라.

그러므로 내가 그들의 이전 행위(their former work)를 헤아려서

그들의 품(their bosom)에 안겨주리라.”

6 “Behold, it is written before Me:

I will not keep silence, but will repay—

Even repay into their bosom—

7 Your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together,”

Says the LORD,

“Who have burned incense on the mountains

And blasphemed Me on the hills;

Therefore I will measure their former work into their bosom.”

8 여호와(the LORD)께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되:

“포도송이(the cluster)에 새 포도주(new wine)가 있어 사람이 말하기를,

‘그것에는 복(a blessing)이 있으니 상하게 하지 말라’ 함같이,

내가 나의 종들(My servant)을 위하여 그렇게 하여

그들을 다 멸하지 아니하리라.

9 내가 야곱(Jacob)에게서 씨(descendants)를 내며,

유다(Judah)에게서 나의 산들을 기업으로 얻을 자(an heir)를 내리니;

나의 택한 자(My elect)가 그것을 기업으로 얻을 것이요,

나의 종들(My servants)이 거기에 거주할 것이라.

10 사론(Sharon)은 양 떼가 모이는 곳(a fold of flocks)이 되겠고,

아골 골짜기(the Valley of Achor)는 소 떼(herds)가 눕는 곳이 되리니,

이는 나를 찾은 나의 백성을 위함이라.

“As the new wine is found in the cluster,

And one says, ‘Do not destroy it,

For a blessing is in it,’

So will I do for My servants’ sake,

That I may not destroy them all.

9 I will bring forth descendants from Jacob,

And from Judah an heir of My mountains;

My elect shall inherit it,

And My servants shall dwell there.

10 Sharon shall be a fold of flocks,

And the Valley of Achor a place for herds to lie down,

For My people who have sought Me.

11 “그러나 그대들은 여호와(the LORD)를 버린 자요,

나의 거룩한 산을 잊은 자요,

갓(Gad)을 위하여 상을 차리고,

므니(Meni)를 위하여 술 제물을 갖춘 자들이라.

12 그러므로 내가 그대들을 칼에 넘길 것이요,

그대들이 다 죽임을 당하려고 굴복하리니;

이는 내가 불러도 그대들이 대답하지 아니하며,

내가 말하여도 그대들이 듣지 아니하고,

내 앞에서 악을 행하며,

내가 기뻐하지 아니하는 것을 택하였음이라.”

11 “But you are those who forsake the LORD,

Who forget My holy mountain,

Who prepare a table for Gad,

And who furnish a drink offering for Meni.b

12 Therefore I will number you for the sword,

And you shall all bow down to the slaughter;

Because, when I called, you did not answer;

When I spoke, you did not hear,

But did evil before My eyes,

And chose that in which I do not delight.”

13 그러므로 주 여호와(the Lord GOD)께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되:

“보라, 나의 종들(My servants)은 먹을 것이로되 그대들은 주릴 것이요;

보라, 나의 종들(My servants)은 마실 것이로되 그대들은 목마를 것이요;

보라, 나의 종들(My servants)은 기뻐할 것이로되 그대들은 수치를 당할 것이요;

14 보라, 나의 종들(My servants)은 마음의 즐거움으로 노래할 것이로되

그대들은 마음의 슬픔으로 울며,

심령의 고통으로 통곡할 것이라.

15 그대들이 그대들 이름을 내가 택한 자(에게 저주로 남겨 둘 것이니;

주 여호와(the Lord GOD)가 그대들을 죽이고,

자기 종들(His servants)을 다른 이름으로 부르리라;

16 그리하면 땅에서 스스로 복을 구하는 자는

진리의 하나님(the God of truth)으로 복을 구하며;

땅에서 맹세하는 자는

진리의 하나님(the God of truth)으로 맹세하리니;

이는 이전의 환난이 잊어졌고,

내 눈 앞에서 숨겨졌음이라.

“Behold, My servants shall eat,

But you shall be hungry;

Behold, My servants shall drink,

But you shall be thirsty;

Behold, My servants shall rejoice,

But you shall be ashamed;

14 Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart,

But you shall cry for sorrow of heart,

And wail for grief of spirit.

15 You shall leave your name as a curse to My chosen;

For the Lord GOD will slay you,

And call His servants by another name;

16 So that he who blesses himself in the earth

Shall bless himself in the God of truth;

And he who swears in the earth

Shall swear by the God of truth;

Because the former troubles are forgotten,

And because they are hidden from My eyes.

영광스러운 새 창조(The Glorious New Creation)

17 “보라, 내가 새 하늘(new heavens)과 새 땅(a new earth)을 창조하나니;

이전 것은 기억되거나 마음에 생각나지 아니할 것이라.

18 그대들은 내가 창조하는 것으로 말미암아 영원히 기뻐하며 즐거워할지어다;

보라, 내가 예루살렘(Jerusalem)을 즐거움으로 창조하며,

그의 백성을 기쁨으로 창조하리라.

19 내가 예루살렘(Jerusalem)을 즐거워하며,

나의 백성을 기뻐하리니;

우는 소리(the voice of weeping)가 다시는 그 가운데서 들리지 아니할 것이요,

부르짖는 소리(the voice of crying)도 다시는 들리지 아니할 것이라.

17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;

And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;

For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing,

And her people a joy.

19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem,

And joy in My people;

The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her,

Nor the voice of crying.

20 거기에는 날 수가 많지 못한 어린이나,

자기 날 수를 채우지 못한 노인이 다시는 없을 것이라;

어린아이가 백 살에 죽겠고,

백 살 된 죄인은 저주를 받을 것이라.

21 그들이 집을 건축하여 그 안에 살겠고(;

그들이 포도원(vineyards)을 가꾸어 그 열매(를 먹을 것이라.

22 그들이 건축하여 다른 사람이 살지 아니할 것이며;

그들이 심어 다른 사람이 먹지 아니하리니;

이는 내 백성의 날수가 나무의 날수와 같겠고,

나의 택한 자(My elect)가 그들의 손으로 일한 것을 오랫동안 누릴 것임이라.

23 그들이 헛되이 수고하지 아니하며,

재난(trouble)을 당할 자녀를 낳지 아니하리니;

그들은 여호와의 복 받은 자(the blessed of the LORD)의 자손이요,

그들의 후손도 그들과 함께 할 것임이라.

20 “No more shall an infant from there live but a few days,

Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days;

For the child shall die one hundred years old,

But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.

21 They shall build houses and inhabit them;

They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

22 They shall not build and another inhabit;

They shall not plant and another eat;

For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people,

And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

23 They shall not labor in vain,

Nor bring forth children for trouble;

For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the LORD,

And their offspring with them.

24 “그들이 부르기 전에 내가 응답하겠고;

그들이 아직 말하는 동안에 내가 들을 것이며.

25 이리(the wolf)와 어린 양(the lamb)이 함께 먹으며,

사자(the lion)가 소(the ox)처럼 짚(straw)을 먹으며,

뱀(the serpent)은 흙(dust)을 먹을 것이라.

나의 거룩한 산(all My holy mountain)에서는 해치거나 파괴하는 일이 없으리라,”

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하셨느니라.

24 “It shall come to pass

That before they call, I will answer;

And while they are still speaking, I will hear.

25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,

The lion shall eat straw like the ox,

And dust shall be the serpent’s food.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,”

Says the LORD.

이사야서 66장

참된 예배와 거짓된 예배(True Worship and False Worship)

1 여호와(the LORD)께서 이와같이 말씀하시되:

“하늘(Heaven)은 나의 보좌(My throne)요,

땅(earth)은 나의 발판(My footstool)이라.

그대들이 나를 위하여 무슨 집을 지으랴?

내가 안식(My rest)할 곳이 어디냐?

2 나의 손이 이 모든 걸 지었으며,

이 모든 게 존재하게 되었느니라,”

여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

“그러나 이런 사람을 나는 돌보리라(But on this one will I look).

가난한 자, 뉘우치는 영을 가진 자(him who is poor and of a contrite spirit)

나의 말(My word)에 경외하는 자(who trembles)를.

“Heaven is My throne,

And earth is My footstool.

Where is the house that you will build Me?

And where is the place of My rest?

2 For all those things My hand has made,

And all those things exist,”

Says the LORD.

“But on this one will I look:

On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,

And who trembles at My word.

3 소를 죽이는 자는 사람을 죽이는 것과 같고,

어린 양으로 제사 드리는 자는 개’의 목을 꺾는 것과 같으며,

곡물 제물(a grain offering)을 드리는 자는 돼지 피(swine’s blood)를 드리는 것과 같고,

향(incense)을 피우는 자는 우상(an idol)을 찬양하는 것과 같으니라.

그들이 자기들의 길을 택하며,

그들의 영혼(their soul)이 가증한 것을 기뻐한 것처럼,

4 나도 그들의 미혹(their delusions,)을 택하며,

그들에게 두려운 것을 가져오리니;

이는 내가 불러도 아무도 대답하지 아니하며,

내가 말하여도 그들이 듣지 아니하고;

그들이 내 눈 앞에서 악(evil)을 행하며,

내가 기뻐하지 아니하는 것을 택하였음이라.”

3 “He who kills a bull is as if he slays a man;

He who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck;

He who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood;

He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol.

Just as they have chosen their own ways,

And their soul delights in their abominations,

4 So will I choose their delusions,

And bring their fears on them;

Because, when I called, no one answered,

When I spoke they did not hear;

But they did evil before My eyes,

And chose that in which I do not delight.”

여호와께서 시온을 변호하심(The LORD Will Vindicate Zion)

5 여호와의 말씀(the word of the LORD)을 들을지어다,

그의 말씀(His word)에 떠는 그대들(You who tremble)이여:

“그대들을 미워하며,

내 이름’ 때문에 그대들을 쫓아낸 그대들 형제가 말하기를,

‘여호와(the LORD)께서 영광을 받으시기를,

그리하면 우리가 그대들 기쁨을 보리라’ 하였으나,

그들은 수치를 당하리라.”

5 Hear the word of the LORD,

You who tremble at His word:

“Your brethren who hated you,

Who cast you out for My name’s sake, said,

‘Let the LORD be glorified,

That we may see your joy.’

But they shall be ashamed.”

6 성읍(the city)에서 나는 소리!

성전(the temple)에서 나는 음성(A voice)!

여호와의 음성(The voice of the LORD)이시라,

그가 그의 원수에게 온전히 보응하시는도다!

6 The sound of noise from the city!

A voice from the temple!

The voice of the LORD,

Who fully repays His enemies!

7 “그가 진통하기 전에 해산하며;

그 고통이 오기 전에,

아들을 낳았도다.

8 누가 이러한 일을 들었으며?

누가 이러한 일을 보았느냐?

땅이 하루에 산고를 겪어 해산하겠느냐?

혹 나라가 단번에 태어나겠느냐?

시온(Zion)이 진통하자마자,

그가 그의 자녀를 낳았도다.

9 내가 해산하게 하고 해산하지 못하게 하겠느냐?” 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

“내가 해산하게 하는 자의 태(the womb)를 어찌 닫겠느냐?” 네 하나님께서 말씀하시니라.

6 The sound of noise from the city!

A voice from the temple!

The voice of the LORD,

Who fully repays His enemies!

7 “Before she was in labor, she gave birth;

Before her pain came,

She delivered a male child.

8 Who has heard such a thing?

Who has seen such things?

Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day?

Or shall a nation be born at once?

For as soon as Zion was in labor,

She gave birth to her children.

9 Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?” says the LORD.

“Shall I who cause delivery shut up the womb?” says your God.

10 예루살렘(Jerusalem)과 함께 기뻐하라,

그를 사랑하는 그대들 모두 그와 함께 즐거워하라;

그를 위하여 슬퍼하는 그대들 모두 그와 함께 기쁨으로 기뻐하라;

11 이는 그대들이 그의 품의 위로(consolation)로 먹고 배부르며,

그의 영광의 풍성함으로 깊이 마시고 즐거워하게 하려 함이라.

0“Rejoice with Jerusalem,

And be glad with her, all you who love her;

Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her;

11 That you may feed and be satisfied

With the consolation of her bosom,

That you may drink deeply and be delighted

With the abundance of her glory.”

12 여호와(the LORD)께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되:

“보라, 내가 평강(peace)을 강(a river)같이 그에게 베풀고,

이방 나라(the Gentiles)의 영광(the glory)을 넘치는 시내(a flowing stream)같이 하리니.

그때 그대들이 먹을 것이며;

그의 옆구리에 안겨 옮김을 받으며,

그의 무릎(her knees)에서 귀염을 받으리라.

13 어머니가 자식을 위로함같이,

내가 그대들을 위로할 것이요;

그대들이 예루살렘(Jerusalem)에서 위로를 받으리라.”

“Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,

And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream.

Then you shall feed;

On her sides shall you be carried,

And be dandled on her knees.

13 As one whom his mother comforts,

So I will comfort you;

And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”

하나님의 통치와 진노(God’s Reign and Fury)

14 그대들이 이것을 볼 때 그대들 마음이 기뻐하고,

그대들 뼈가 새 풀같이 번성하리니;

여호와의 손(the hand)이 그의 종들(His servants)에게 알려지고,

그의 진노(His indignation)가 그의 원수에게 알려지리라.

15 보라, 여호와(the LORD)께서 불(fire) 가운데 강림하시고,

그의 병거(His chariots)는 회오리바람(a whirlwind) 같으리니,

맹렬한 진노로 그의 분노를 나타내시며,

화염으로 그의 책망을 나타내실 것임이라.

16 여호와(the LORD)께서 불(fire)과 칼(His sword)로

모든 육체(all flesh)를 심판하시리니;

여호와(the LORD)께 죽임 당할 자가 많으리라.

14 When you see this, your heart shall rejoice,

And your bones shall flourish like grass;

The hand of the LORD shall be known to His servants,

And His indignation to His enemies.

15 For behold, the LORD will come with fire

And with His chariots, like a whirlwind,

To render His anger with fury,

And His rebuke with flames of fire.

16 For by fire and by His sword

The LORD will judge all flesh;

And the slain of the LORD shall be many

17 “스스로 거룩하게 하며 스스로 정결하게 하고

동산에 들어가

그 가운데 있는 우상(an idol)을 따라

돼지고기와 가증한 것과 쥐를 먹는 자들이

함께 망하리라,” 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

17 “Those who sanctify themselves and purify themselves,

To go to the gardens

After an idol in the midst,

Eating swine’s flesh and the abomination and the mouse,

Shall be consumed together,” says the LORD.

18 “이는 내가 그들의 행위(their works)와 그들의 생각(their thoughts)을 알기 때문이라. 내가 모든 민족(all nations)과 언어(tongues)를 모으는 때가 이르리니; 그들이 와서 나의 영광(My glory)을 볼 것이라. 19 내가 그들 가운데 표적(a sign)을 세우고 그들 가운데서 피하는 자를 여러 나라 곧 다시스(Tarshish)와 불(Pul)과 활을 당기는 룻(Lud)과 두발(Tubal)과 야완(Javan)과 나의 명성을 듣지 못하고 나의 영광을 보지 못한 먼 섬들에 보내리니 그들이 나의 영광을 이방 나라들 가운데 전파하리라. 20 이스라엘 자손(the children of Israel)이 깨끗한 그릇(a clean vessel)에 예물을 담아 여호와의 집(the house of the LORD)에 드림같이 그들이 모든 민족 가운데서 그대들 모든 형제를 말과 병거와 평상과 노새와 낙타에 태워 나의 거룩한 산 예루살렘(My holy mountain Jerusalem)으로 예물로 드릴 것이라,” 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라. 21 “나도 그들 가운데서 제사장(priests)과 레위인(Levites)을 택하리라,” 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라.

22 “내가 만들 새 하늘(the new heavens)과 새 땅(the new earth)이

내 앞에 영원히 있을 것같이,” 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라,

“그대들 자손과 그대들 이름도 영원히 있으리라.

23 여호와(the LORD)께서 말씀하시니라

“매달 초하루(one New Moon)부터 다음 초하루까지(to another),

매 안식일(one Sabbath)부터 다음 안식일까지(to another),

모든 육체(all flesh)가 내 앞에 나아와 경배하리라.

22 “For as the new heavens and the new earth

Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the LORD,

“So shall your descendants and your name remain.

23 And it shall come to pass

That from one New Moon to another,

And from one Sabbath to another,

All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the LORD.

24 그들이 나가서

나를 거역한 자들의 시체를 볼 것이라.

그들의 구더기도 죽지 아니하며,

그들의 불도 꺼지지 아니하고,

모든 육체(all flesh)에게 가증한 것이 되리라.”

24 “And they shall go forth and look

Upon the corpses of the men

Who have transgressed against Me.

For their worm does not die,

And their fire is not quenched.

They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”
