2. 우리가 찾아야 할 조국이란

내외 귀빈 여러분! 여러분은 나라 없는 백성이나 다름없습니다. 그러면 과거에는 나라가 있었느냐? 역사상에 우리나라라고 할 수 있는 형태의 나라가 있었느냐? 그런 나라의 형태도 갖지 못했습니다. 그러면 그 나라를 찾기 위해 수고한 사람이 없어서 그랬느냐? 아닙니다.

그 나라는 과거 역사시대의 사람이 생각하던 자리에서는 찾을 수 없었기 때문에 맞지 못한 것입니다. 그 시대권에서 안팎을 갖춘 기준을 중심삼고 그 나라를 찾을 수 없었기에 그 나라를 못 맞은 것입니다. 우리가 찾아야 할 조국이라는 것은 오늘 이 땅 위에 있는 어떤 역사와 전통을 가진 나라가 아닙니다. 그런 나라와는 본질적으로 차원이 다릅니다.

우리는 차원이 다른 그 나라를 이어받으려면 그럴 수 있는 사상적인 주체성을 가진 국민이 돼야 합니다. 그러나 그 주체적인 사상은 절대적인 창조주가 있으면, 그 창조주의 사상과 일치되는 사상이어야 될 것입니다. 절대자가 원하는 나라가 있으려면 그 나라의 주권을 중심삼고 그 나라의 국민이 일치될 수 있는 나라가 되기를 바라야 될 것입니다. 그런 국민성을 갖추고 국가의 형태를 갖춰야 될 것입니다.

한 나라가 형성되기 위해서는 주권이 있어야 되고, 백성이 있어야 되고, 국토가 있어야 됩니다. 하늘나라도 역시 마찬가지입니다. 주권을 대신한 것이 부모이며, 백성을 대신한 것이 아들딸이고, 국토를 대신한 것이 나라인 것입니다.

이중의 어느 한 가지도 빼놓을 수 없는 것입니다. 이것은 철칙입니다. 제일 소중한 것이 무엇입니까? 세계와 나라를 위하는 것입니다. 그렇게만 하면 망하지 않습니다. 망하지 않는 그곳이 한계점입니다.

나라를 위하는 기준에서 실제적인 행동을 하다가 죽어 간 사람들은 죽어서도 그 나라의 백성이 됩니다. 그 나라가 없어질 때까지 남아질 것입니다. 나라가 형성되려면 국토가 있어야 되고, 백성이 있어야 되고, 주권이 있어야 합니다.

주권은 무엇입니까? 근원적인 하나님과 인연맺는 것입니다. 나라를 치리하는 사람들은 백성이 깊이 잠든 다음에 하나님과 인연맺어 정치를 해야 합니다. 그리하여 주권자는 백성과 하나돼야 합니다. 백성과 하나되어 가지고 자기에게 있는 모든 것은 자기를 위한 것이 아니라 나라를 위한 것이라고 생각해야 합니다.

그렇게 되면 그 나라는 번영합니다. 그런 관점에서 지상에 천국을 실현한다는 문제를 두고 볼 때 천국의 주인이 누구입니까? 주권자가 누구입니까? 틀림없이 하나님이 주권자입니다. 그리고 백성은 만민입니다. 그러면 국토는 어디입니까? 지구성입니다.

지상천국은 누구를 닮았습니까? ‘나’를 닮았습니다. 한 나라를 보면 주권·국민·국토가 있습니다. 이것은 인간과 마찬가지입니다. 지상천국이 누구를 닮았습니까? 나를 닮았습니다. 나 개인이 모여서 나라가 되는 것입니다.

따라서 나에게 마음이 있는 것처럼 나라에도 주권이 있어야 되고, 인격체이기에 국민이 있어야 되는 것이요, 인간에게 만물이 있는 것처럼 국토가 있어야 되는 것입니다. 이런 원칙에서 국토는 사람한테 지배받고 국민은 주권 앞에 지배받는 것입니다. 이 국토·국민·주권이 국가 형성의 3대 요소입니다. 그렇게 되어 있습니다.

사람을 두고 볼 때 마음은 몸을 지배하고 몸은 만물을 지배하는 것이 원칙입니다. 이 원칙이 있기 때문에 온 세계를 보면 천지인이라는 결정적인 결론이 나옵니다. 하늘이 무엇입니까? 인간의 마음과 같으니까 주권과 마찬가지입니다. 사람은 백성이고, 땅은 만물입니다. 결국 나라는 누구를 닮았습니까? 전부 나를 닮았습니다.

아무리 큰 사회, 아무리 큰 국가라고 하더라도 사람을 닮아야 된다는 것입니다. 그것은 하나님께서 당신의 형상을 닮은 것을 좋아하시기 때문입니다. 그러면 사람이 제일 좋아하는 것이 무엇입니까? 자기의 형상을 닮은 것입니다. 그러므로 이상적인 국가는 무엇을 닮아야 합니까? 사람을 닮아야 되는 것입니다. 천지인을 닮아야 된다는 것입니다.

통일교회의 용어로 조국이라고 함은 대한민국이라는 하나의 나라가 아니라 세계적인 나라를 말하는 것입니다. 세계적이라는 말은 타락한 세계권에서 쓰이는 말이므로 기분이 나쁩니다.

이런 조국을 찾아 나아가는 주의를 통일교회에서는 천주주의라고 합니다. 그 조국은 대한민국이 아닙니다. 하나님이 바라시는 조국은 대한민국이 아니요, 미국도 아니요, 공산국가도 아닙니다. 그 조국은 하나님이 원하는 조국입니다.

그러기에 우리는 새로운 그 조국의 문화를 이뤄야 하고 그 조국의 역사를 이뤄야 됩니다. 우리는 새로운 이상적인 조국을 세우기 위하여 기준을 새롭게 정해야 합니다. 우리의 생활을 바꿔야 합니다. 그 세계는 지금 이 세계와 전부 다릅니다. 말도 다른 것입니다. 원리주관권이니 상대기준이니 상대기대니 복귀기대섭라고 하는 중요한 말들을 세상 사람들이 모릅니다. 그러니까 다르다는 것입니다.

2. 私たちが探し出さなければならない祖国とは

内外の貴賓の皆様。皆様は、国のない民と同様です。それでは、過去には国があったでしょうか。歴史上に、「私の国だ」と言うことができる形態の国があったでしょうか。そのような国の形態も、もつことができなかったのです。それは、その国を探し出すために苦労する人がいなかったからでしょうか。

そういうわけではありません。その国は、過去の歴史時代の人が考えた位置では、探し出すことができないために迎えることができなかったのです。その時代圏内において、内外を備えた基準を中心としてその国を探し出すことができなかったので、その国を迎えることができなかったのです。私たちが探し出さなければならない祖国というのは、今日、この地上に存在する、歴史と伝統をもった国ではありません。そのような国とは本質的に次元が違うのです。

私たちは、次元の違うその国を受け継ごうとするならば、そのようにできる思想的な主体性をもった国民にならなければなりません。しかし、その主体的な思想は、絶対的な創造主がいるとすれば、その創造主の思想と一致する思想でなければなりません。絶対者が願う国をつくろとするならば、その国の主権を中心として国民が一致できる国になることを願わなければなりません。そのような国民性を備え、国家の形態を備えなければなりません。

一つの国が形成されるためには、主権がなければならず、国民がいなければならず、国土がなければなりません。天の国もやはり同じです。主権に代わるものが父母であり、国民に代わるものが息子、娘であり、国土に代わるものが国なのです。このうちどれ一つとして欠くことはできません。これは鉄則です。最も重要なことは何でしょうか。世界と国のために生きることです。そのようにさえすれば滅びません。

国のために生きる基準で、実際に行動をしている中で死んでいった人々は、死んでもその国の国民になるのです。その国がなくなる時まで残されるのです。国が形成されるためには、国土がなければならず、国民がいなければならず、主権がなければならないのですが、主権とは何でしょうか。根源的な神様と関係を結ぶことです。

国を統治する人は、国民が深く寝入った後に、神様と関係を結んで政治を行わなければなりません。そして、主権者は、国民と一つにならなければなりません。国民と一つになり、自分にあるすベてのものは自分のためのものではなく、国のためのものであると考えなければなりません。そのようになれば、その国は繁栄するのです。

そのような観点から、地上に天国を実現するという問題を考えてみるとき、天国の主人は誰でしょうか。主権者は誰でしょうか。間違いなく神様が主権者です。そして、国民は万民です。国土は地球星です。

地上天国は誰に似たのでしょうか。「私」に似たのです。一つの国を見れば、主権、国民、国土があります。これは人間と同じです。地上天国は「私」に似ていて、「私」という個人が集まって国になるので、「私」に心があるように、国にも主権がなければならず、人格体なので国民がいなければならず、人間に万物があるように、国土がなければならないのです。このような原則から、国土は人に統治され、国民は主権に統治されるのです。この国土、国民、主権が、国家形成の三大要素です。そのようになっています。

人を見ると、心は体を統治し、体は万物を統治するのが原則です。この原則があるために、全世界を見れば「天、地、人」であるという決定的な結論が出るのです。「天」は何でしょうか。人間の心と同じなので主権と同じです。「人」は国民であり、「地」は万物です。結局、国は誰に似ているのでしょうか。「私」に似ているのです。

いくら大きい社会、いくら大きい国家だとしても、人に似なければならないのです。それは、神様が御自身の形状に似たものを好まれるからです。それでは、人が最も好むものは何でしょうか。自らの形状に似たものです。ですから、理想的な国家とは、何に似なければならないのでしょうか。人に似なければなりません。「天地人」に似なければならないのです。

統一教会の用語で「祖国」というのは、大韓民国という一つの国ではなく、世界的な国のことをいうのです。「世界的」という言葉は、堕落した世の中でも使われるので気分が良くありません。このような「祖国」を探し求めていく主義を統一教会では「天宙主義」というのです。その祖国は、大韓民国ではありません。神様が願われる祖国は大韓民国でもなく、アメリカでもなく、共産国家でもありません。その祖国は神様が願う祖国です。ですから、私たちは、新しいその祖国の文化を成し遂げなければならず、その祖国の歴史を成し遂げなければなりません。

私たちは、新しい理想的な祖国を立てるために、新しい基準を定めて私たちの生活を変えなければなりません。その世界は、今のこの世界と全く違います。言葉も違うのです。「原理結果主管圏」や「相対基準」、「相対基台」、「復帰基台摂理」といった重要な言葉を、世の中の人々は知りません。ですから、違うのです。

2. The homeland we should seek

Distinguished guests, even though we live in a nation, in truth we are like people without a nation. Has there ever been a nation that could be considered a true nation? No there has not. Is it for lack of trying to build a true nation? No.

The reason we have never had a true nation is that the people of history were never in a position to build one. They could not build one, because the age in which they lived did not possess a fully developed standard upon which to build a true nation.

The homeland we need to build should not have a history and tradition like those found in the world today. It should be of a dimension essentially different from the nations of this world. If we want to build this different kind of nation, we have to be a people who possess the ideological consciousness to make it possible.

There is an absolute Creator; therefore our ideology and teaching will need to be one with the Creator’s ideology and teaching. What kind of nation does the Absolute Being want? He would want a nation with a sovereignty that would unite its people completely with Him. Its national character and its system would have to be of such quality. 

A nation is constituted by sovereignty, people and land. In God’s nation, parents represent the sovereignty, sons and daughters represent the people, and the household represents the land. This is an unbreakable rule; a nation cannot omit any of these elements.

What should be that nation’s highest value? It is living for the greater good, which extends to the nation and the world. The nation should guarantee that people who live that way cannot fall into ruin.

In today’s nations people who live for the greater good often end up suffering, but the ultimate nation is a nation where such people can only prosper. If a person dies while working for the sake of that nation, he or she will be honored as a patriot. He or she will be honored as long as the nation exists.

For a nation to be formed, it requires a land, a people and sovereignty. What is sovereignty? Sovereignty is the connection and link with God, who is the root and origin. The people who govern the nation have to first establish their connection with God ; only then can they govern.

In this way, the rulers will be one with the people. They need to become one with the people and know that whatever they own is not for their own sake; it exists for the sake of the nation. If they do so, the nation will prosper.

From this point of view, when you consider the issue of realizing the kingdom of heaven on earth, who is its owner? Who is the ruler? Without a doubt, God is the Ruler. Who are the people? The people are all the people of the world. And what is the land? The land is the planet Earth.

What does the kingdom of heaven on earth resemble? It resembles “me.” As I said, a nation consists of sovereignty, people and land. This is the same as a single human being. Who did I say that the kingdom of heaven on earth resembles? “Me.”

It resembles “me.” Individuals such as “me” gather together, and that forms the nation. Just as I have my own mind, the nation has sovereignty. Just as I have a personal identity, there is a national population. And just as I interact with the created universe, so a nation interacts with the land.

Within this basic principle, the people enable the land to bear fruit, and the sovereignty enables the people to bear fruit. This is how things are. Land, people and sovereignty are the three essential elements that comprise a nation.

Looking at human beings, the basic principle is that our mind is subject partner to our body, and our body is subject partner to the natural world. On the basis of this principle, the definitive outcome of the entire world is “a human being who encompasses heaven and earth.”

What would you say heaven is? It is the same as the human mind, so it is also the same as the sovereignty. Human beings are the nations population and the earth is the created world. In the end, what does the nation resemble? It resembles an individual person.

No matter how big the society, no matter how great the nation, it resembles a human being. This is because God likes that which resembles Him, which is in His image. Then, what things do human beings like most?

They also like what resembles them, what is in their image. So what does an ideal nation need to resemble? It needs to resemble a human being in the form of “a human being who encompasses heaven and earth.”

In Unification Church terminology, “homeland” does not refer to a single nation, such as the Republic of Korea. It refers to a global nation. Actually, this corrupted, fallen world uses the word “global” incorrectly. The “ism” or teaching that describes this homeland is called “cosmos-ism.”

Our homeland is not the Republic of Korea. God does not want the Republic of Korea or the United States or the communist nations as His homeland. God wants an original homeland.

We have to create the culture and the history of that new, original homeland. We have to define a new standard of behavior upon which to establish a new and ideal homeland. We have to change our way of life, because the ideal world is completely different from the world of today.

The words and language are different as well. Do the people of today’s world understand the meaning of such important phrases as “the realm of dominion of the Principle,” “give-and-receive action,” “common base” and "foundation for the providence of restoration”? No, the vocabulary of God’s homeland is different.
