갈라디아서 3:21-25 그러면 율법이 하나님의 약속들을 거스리느냐 결코 그럴 수 없느니라 만일 능히 살게하는 율법을 주셨더면 의가 반드시 율법으로 말미암았으리라 그러나 성경이 모든 것을 죄아래 가두었으니 이는 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 말미암은 약속을 믿는 자들에게 주려 함이니라 믿음이 오기 전에 우리가 율법 아래 매인바 되고 계시될 믿음의 때까지 갇혔느니라 이같이 율법이 우리를 그리스도에게로 인도하는 몽학선생이 되어 우리로 하여금 믿음으로 말미암아 의롭다 함을 얻게 하려 함이니라 믿음이 온 후로는 우리가 몽학선생 아래 있지 아니하도다

율법은 하나님의 약속을 거스르지 않습니다. 그리스도의 복음도 율법과 충돌하지 않습니다. 율법은 언제나 완전합니다. 그러나 죄성을 지닌 인간은 율법을 모두 지켜 구원받을 수 없습니다. 그래서 하나님께서 믿음으로 구원받는 더 좋은 길을 주셨습니다. 그것이 예수 그리스도의 복음입니다.

그리스도의 복음은 율법을 지키지 못한 죄를 회개하고 구원받는 새로운 길입니다. 그리스도의 복음에도 율법은 언제나 필요합니다. 율법이 있어야 모든 죄가 정확히 드러납니다. 그리하여 죄로 혼탁해진 세상에서 자신의 죄를 바로 깨닫고 회개하여 용서받고 구원받는 것입니다.

그리스도의 보혈이 넘쳐흘러도 회개하지 않으면 죄 사함을 받을 수 없습니다. 율법이 있기에 자신의 죄를 깨닫고 올바르게 회개하여 용서받을 수 있습니다. 율법은 죄인을 그리스도께 인도하여 회개하고 용서받게 하는 안전장치입니다. 이것이 몽학선생과 같은 역할입니다. 몽학선생은 아직 분별력이 없는 어린아이를 올바른 길로 인도하는 선생입니다.

예수 그리스도를 알고 예수님의 말씀에 순종하는 사람은 더 이상 율법 아래 있지 않습니다. 예수 그리스도의 말씀은 하나님과 이웃을 사랑하라는 것입니다. 사랑은 겉으로 어떤 형식을 갖추는 일이 아닙니다. 진실한 마음으로 서로 용서하고 사랑하여 화목을 이루는 것입니다.

겉으로 아무리 율법을 잘 지켜도 마음이 악하고 교만하다면, 그는 아직 그리스도께 속한 사람이 아닙니다. 이런 율법주의자는 예수님을 만나기 전의 사울과 같습니다. 율법 속에 살던 사울이 예수님을 알고 나서 바울로 변화된 것입니다.

율법주의자는 자기 죄를 감추고 언제나 남의 죄만 지적합니다. 모든 인간의 마음은 추악합니다. 그러나 예수님을 구원자로 믿고 회개할 때 더러운 마음이 깨끗해지고, 더러운 귀신이 쫓겨나며, 그 마음에 성령께서 임하십니다. 성령의 인도하심을 끝까지 따르는 사람이 천국에 들어가는 것입니다.

Galatians 3:21–25

Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

The law does not contradict the promises of God. The gospel of Christ does not conflict with the law either. The law is always perfect. However, human beings, who possess a sinful nature, cannot attain salvation by keeping the entire law. Therefore, God has provided a better way of salvation through faith. That way is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The gospel of Christ is a new way of salvation through which those who have failed to keep the law can repent of their sins and be saved. The law is always necessary, even in the gospel of Christ. Without the law, sins cannot be clearly exposed. Through the law, people living in a world corrupted by sin can recognize their own sins, repent, receive forgiveness, and attain salvation.

Even though the precious blood of Christ overflows, no one can receive forgiveness of sins without repentance. Because the law exists, people can recognize their sins, repent properly, and receive forgiveness. The law serves as a safeguard that leads sinners to Christ so that they may repent and be forgiven. This is the role of a guardian. A guardian is a teacher who guides children who have not yet developed discernment along the right path.

Those who know Jesus Christ and obey His words are no longer under the law. The teaching of Jesus Christ is to love God and love our neighbors. Love is not merely the outward observance of certain forms. It means sincerely forgiving and loving one another from the heart and living together in harmony.

No matter how faithfully someone observes the law outwardly, if that person's heart is evil and proud, that person does not yet belong to Christ. Such a legalist is like Saul before he encountered Jesus. Saul, who had lived under the law, was transformed into Paul after coming to know Jesus.

Legalists conceal their own sins and constantly point out the sins of others. The hearts of all human beings are corrupt. However, when people believe in Jesus as their Savior and repent, their filthy hearts are cleansed, evil spirits are driven out, and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in their hearts. Those who follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit to the very end are the ones who enter the kingdom of heaven.
