Sunday Worship Sermon at New Life Church (September 27, 2026)

Have Faith That Saves Your Soul
We go to heaven through faith alone.
However, attending church only does not mean everyone goes to heaven.
We must repent so that we receive forgiveness for sins and go to heaven.
Repentance is not done with lips only. Our lives must repent.
A small mustard seed is sown in a vegetable field and sprouts.
At first, it is so small that there is no presence and no one recognizes it.
However, when it grows and branches spread, birds come and nest in those branches.
Confessing Jesus as Lord is the beginning for that faith to grow.
Faith like a child must grow gradually and develop into mature faith.
A person who thought only of own profit must change into a person who forgives, understands, and helps others.
A person who attends church but pursues only fleshly profit through God's power is one who has chaff faith.
A wheat believer is someone who believes that God is the owner of all things, obeys God's word, and achieves peace with others.
Striving to achieve peace with others while sacrificing oneself is the fruit of love.
The Bible says that with faith unable to bear the fruit of love, we cannot go to heaven.
This is because repenting with the mouth only is not true repentance.
When we bear fruit worthy of repentance, it becomes true repentance.
1 Peter 1:8–9
"Though you have not seen Jesus Christ, you love him, and though you do not see him now yet you believe and rejoice with inexpressible glorious joy. This is because you receive the end of your faith, that is, the salvation of souls."
Believing Jesus as the only Savior, lowering and sacrificing oneself while serving God and neighbors is not an easy thing.
In the eyes of people, it may look foolish.
However, what we rejoice in is because we receive the salvation of souls.
We do not believe in Jesus to eat well and live well in the world.
We believe in Jesus to go to heaven when leaving this earth.
Even if difficult, we must accomplish a life of obedience and repentance to the end and become citizens of heaven.
Hebrews 10:38–39
"My righteous one will live by faith; and if he shrinks back, my soul takes no pleasure in him, he said. We are not those who shrink back and are destroyed, but those who have faith leading to the salvation of the soul."
If faith regresses, God does not take pleasure.
The regression of faith is gradually departing from the life of obedience and repentance.
"It is enough to just attend church, do I really have to do up to this point?"
They dislike hearing difficult Bible words, and like hearing easy-to-keep human doctrines.
However, do not become one who shrinks back and perishes, but must develop into faith that saves one's own soul.
Mark 8:36–37
"What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?"
Gained the whole world.
Had money, fame, power, and everything wanted by oneself.
However, if he disobeyed and failed to repent and went to hell, what value would his life have?
Solomon had everything in the world.
However, he became distant from God.
Just before going to hell, realizing his own wrong, he turned back to the Lord.
He said that everything in the world was meaningless and meaningless and meaningless.
If going to hell, all wealth and honor enjoyed in the world is nothing.
Romans 10:9–10
"If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. A person believes with the heart resulting in righteousness and confesses with the mouth resulting in salvation."
When believing Jesus as Lord with the heart and confessing that faith with the mouth, one is saved.
However, many people confess Jesus as Lord with the mouth only while not believing Jesus' words with the heart.
This is chaff faith.
A confession without heart's faith is merely a formality.
We must firmly believe with the heart and confess it with the mouth.
If believing with the heart, his action and life change.
If not believing with the heart, even doing religious life for decades is in vain.
Acting good in front of people, but acting vilely when no one sees.
This is because Jesus is not in that heart.
Confessing Jesus with the mouth only without believing Jesus with the heart is fake faith unable to save the soul.
Mark 1:14–15
"After John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, saying, The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is near; repent and believe the gospel."
The gospel is repenting and obeying Jesus' words.
Memorizing Bible verses a lot itself is not faith.
Discarding sins pointed out by Jesus and obeying Jesus' words is faith.
To such a person, the kingdom of God draws near.
The owner of heaven enters our heart.
Into a heart stained with sin, the clean Lord cannot enter.
Without the Lord, there is no heaven either.
The person whom the Holy Spirit is with goes to heaven.
The Holy Spirit makes us repent and obey, leading us to heaven.
The Holy Spirit cannot lead a person who shrinks back.
The Holy Spirit leads the person following the Holy Spirit's guidance to heaven.
The Holy Spirit cannot lead a person whose heart goes the way of the world while formally memorizing Bible words.
Such church members instead receive God's discipline.
If not repenting even after receiving discipline, they eventually go even to hell.
There are so many Christians who repent only after going to hell.
Luke 13:3–5
"I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you too will all perish likewise. Or do you think that those eighteen people crushed and killed when the tower in Siloam fell had more sin than all other people dwelling in Jerusalem? I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you too will all perish likewise."
Jesus said to his disciples.
"If you do not repent, you will perish just like the eighteen people crushed to death when the Siloam tower collapsed."
This was saying that no person can be saved without repenting of sins.
All people are sinners, and everyone must repent to go to heaven.
Matthew 7:21–23
"Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and perform many miracles in your name? Then I will declare to them clearly, I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness."
Believing in Jesus and receiving spiritual gifts, casting out demons, healing diseases, and performing various abilities.
However, that heart does not obey Jesus' words.
Loving worldly things more than the Lord's words and captured by worldly greed.
Outwardly looking like believing in God well, but inside being captured by Satan.
If dying as is, going to hell.
"Lord, I taught many people in your name, healed diseases, and performed many abilities. Yet why do you say you do not know me, Lord?"
However, the Lord says.
"You who practice lawlessness, depart from me."
Practicing lawlessness is not obeying the Lord's words and not repenting.
Becoming a pastor, an elder, or a deacon is not what is important.
What is important is living and practicing faith that forgives others, achieves peace, and brings grace to others.
Hebrews 5:8–9
"Although being a Son, having learned obedience from sufferings he received and having become perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him."
God who is spirit put on human flesh, came to the world, and directly practiced the words he spoke.
And he cleanses all sins of the person obeying his word with his blood and saves.
He becomes the source of eternal salvation to the person obeying his word.
He never becomes the source of salvation to the disobedient person.
The Lord forgave our sins with his blood and commanded us to forgive one another.
However, people hate to forgive.
He tells us to follow the Lord's words, not follow the world.
However, attending church only while not following the Lord's words.
To Christians who disobey and do not repent, the Lord does not become the source of salvation.
We must read the Bible correctly and realize.
James 2:14–17
"My brothers, if a person says he has faith and has no works, what profit is there? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and anyone among you says to them, Go in peace, be warm, be filled, and does not give things needed for the body, what profit is there? Likewise, faith without works is dead in itself."
Saying "I have good faith" while not practicing the Lord's words, is that true faith?
Can such a claim of faith save oneself?
Going to a naked person, giving no help, and making words abundant.
"From now on, buy good clothes and wear them, cook a lot of rice and eat until full."
If saying that and returning just like that, what help is that to that person?
Faith not practicing the Lord's words is just like this.
Such faith has no value before the Lord.
If you believed that Jesus is the only Savior, practice Jesus' words.
We must forgive others and discard proud hearts and vile thoughts.
By human strength alone, it does not go well.
Receive the help of the Holy Spirit and achieve it every day.
The Holy Spirit will surely help the person praying and striving so that they can obey.
What you strove hard for but could not achieve, repent and receive forgiveness.
This life of obedience is faith saving one's own soul.
James 2:24–26
"As we see, a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. And likewise, was not Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received messengers and sent them out another way? Just as the body without spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead."
Faith with works saves oneself.
Rahab the prostitute risked death to hide Israel's spies and was saved.
Practicing faith saved her.
Just as the body dies when the soul departs, without practice, that faith is dead.
The saying that confessing Jesus once and attending church only brings salvation is a lie not fitting the Bible.
Galatians 5:5–6
"We through the Spirit wait by faith for the hope of righteousness, for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love."
Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we achieve the hope of heaven.
The person who entered inside Jesus must obey Jesus' words to continue abiding inside Jesus.
There is no need to question circumcision and uncircumcision.
Whether receiving water baptism or not does not determine salvation.
Faith bearing the fruit of love is important.
There must be faith obeying Jesus' words.
Many religious rituals do not save us.
Obeying the words of the living Lord is what saves us.
Awaken from dead faith.
Discard evil thoughts and have good thoughts.
No matter how much striving, humans cannot be 100% perfect.
Repent of what is lacking.
Why do human-made doctrines and theories get put above Bible words?
The person ignoring God's words does not believe in God.
1 John 2:3–6
"If we keep his commandments, by this we know that we know him. The person saying 'I know him' and not keeping his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps his word, God's love has truly been made perfect in him; by this we know that we are in him. The person saying to live in him must walk just as he walked."
The person keeping the commandment of love given by Jesus abides in Jesus.
The person not keeping that commandment is outside Jesus.
Outside Jesus, there is no salvation.
The faith of the person not practicing love is false.
Just as Jesus walked, we also must walk.
Jesus forgave and loved all people.
All Christians should not stay in religious events only, but learn Jesus' life every day.
