극심한 가뭄으로 생활용수 공급에 어려움을 겪고 있는 강원 강릉시의 주요 상수원인 오봉저수지의 저수율이 연일 최저치를 경신하고 있다.

현재 오봉저수지의 저수율은 15.9%로, 이 상황이 이어질 경우 주말부터 더 강력한 제한급수가 이뤄질 것으로 보인다.

저수율이 15.0%가 되면 수도계량기의 75%를 잠그는 제한급수가 시행된다.

원수 확보량을 늘리기 위한 노력도 이어지고 있다.

강릉시는 지난 23~27일 왕산면 도마천과 왕산천 일원에서 물길 터주기 공사를 추진해 오봉저수지의 하천수 유입량을 늘렸다. 27일부터는 구산농보에서 하루 약 1만t의 물을 끌어와 오봉저수지에 추가로 공급하고 있다.

14억원을 들여 관을 통해 강릉 남대천의 물을 오봉저수지로 끌어올리는 사업도 추진 중이다.

시민들도 절수를 통해 생활용수 사용량을 크게 줄였다.

50% 제한급수 시행 이틀 전인 지난 18일 9만6250t이던 하루 생활용수 사용량은 25일 9만2755t, 26일 8만9930t, 27일 8만6002t까지 줄었다.
