갈라디아서 5:1-8 그리스도께서 우리로 자유케 하려고 자유를 주셨으니 그러므로 굳세게 서서 다시는 종의 멍에를 메지 말라 보라 나 바울은 너희에게 말하노니 너희가 만일 할례를 받으면 그리스도께서 너희에게 아무 유익이 없으리라 내가 할례를 받는 각 사람에게 다시 증거하노니 그는 율법 전체를 행할 의무를 가진 자라 율법 안에서 의롭다 함을 얻으려 하는 너희는 그리스도에게서 끊어지고 은혜에서 떨어진 자로다 우리가 성령으로 믿음을 좇아 의의 소망을 기다리노니 그리스도 예수 안에서는 할례나 무할례가 효력이 없되 사랑으로써 역사하는 믿음 뿐이니라 너희가 달음질을 잘 하더니 누가 너희를 막아 진리를 순종치 않게 하더냐 그 권면이 너희를 부르신 이에게서 난 것이 아니라

예수의 피가 모든 죄를 사해주시고 죄로부터 오는 저주와 형벌에서 우리를 자유케 하셨습니다. 그러므로 굳세게 믿음을 지켜서 우리는 죄의 멍에를 다시 메지 않아야 한다. 죄의 멍에를 멘다는 것은 주님의 말씀에 불순종하고 회개하지 않는 삶을 의미한다.

이젠 할레 받지 말라. 그것은 구약 때 지켰던 종교의식이다, 그때 하나님의 백성이 되었다는 표시였다. 예수님이 오신 이후로 그런 종교의식은 다 사라졌다. 예수를 믿고 회개할 때 성령이 우리 안에 들어와 거하십니다. 그러므로 무슨 종교의식이 필요한 것 아니다. 오직 예수를 구원자로 믿고 그 말씀에 순종하여 서로 용서하고 사랑하고 회개하는 것이 필요하다.

형식에 치중하는 종교의식 인간의 교리 율법주의 등에 빠지면 참된 마음의 변화를 이룰 수 없다, 회개와 순종의 삶을 이루지 못하기 때문에 가짜 믿음이다. 교회 안에 이런 자들이 매우 많다, 평생 교회 다니지만 주님과 동행하지 못한다, 결국 지옥에 떨어지는 것이다.

회개와 순종의 삶이 없으면 그리스도에게서 떨어진 자로다. 회개를 통해 항상 깨끗한 마음을 지켜야 한다. 깨끗한 마음에 성령이 거하시고 성령이 우리의 삶을 이끄시고 천국까지 이끌어 가시는 것입니다. 이제는 할례와 무할례 차이가 없고, 물세례 받으나 안 받으나 차이가 없다, 오직 성령이 우리의 믿음의 삶을 이끄셔야 합니다.

성령의 인도하심을 받는 신앙생활은 사랑의 삶으로 나타난다. 하나님을 사랑하기 때문에 우상숭배를 하지 않는다, 그리고 이웃을 사랑하기 때문에 항상 남을 용서하고 선한 마음을 폼고 자기를 희생하며 이웃과 화목하기를 힘쓰는 것이다. 교만하고 사납고 욕심부리고 회개치 않는 그리스도인은 사탄과 동행하는 것이다, 이런 그리스도인은 죄와 저주의 멍에를 다시 메고 가는 것이다.

Galatians 5:1-8

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you.

The blood of Jesus has forgiven all our sins and set us free from the curse and punishment that come from sin. Therefore, we must stand firm in our faith and never again put on the yoke of sin. To bear the yoke of sin means to live in disobedience to the Lord’s Word without repentance.

Circumcision is no longer necessary. It was a religious rite observed in the Old Testament times and was a sign that a person belonged to the people of God. Since Jesus came, such religious rituals are no longer necessary. When we believe in Jesus and repent, the Holy Spirit comes into us and dwells within us. Therefore, no religious ritual is necessary for salvation. What is necessary is to believe in Jesus as our Savior, obey His Word, forgive and love one another, and live a life of repentance.

If we become absorbed in outward religious rituals, human doctrines, and legalism, we cannot experience a true transformation of the heart. Such faith is false because it does not produce a life of repentance and obedience. There are many people like this in the church. They may attend church throughout their entire lives, yet fail to walk with the Lord, and in the end they fall into hell.

Without a life of repentance and obedience, a person has fallen away from Christ. Through repentance, we must always keep our hearts clean. The Holy Spirit dwells in a clean heart, guides our lives, and leads us all the way to heaven. Now there is no difference between being circumcised and uncircumcised, nor between receiving water baptism and not receiving it. What matters is that the Holy Spirit must lead our life of faith.

A life of faith led by the Holy Spirit is revealed through a life of love. Because we love God, we do not worship idols. And because we love our neighbors, we always forgive others, keep a good heart, sacrifice ourselves, and strive to live in peace with them. A Christian who is proud, harsh, greedy, and refuses to repent is walking with Satan. Such a Christian is once again taking upon himself the yoke of sin and the curse that comes with it.
