1 Soon the news reached the apostles and other believers in Judea //that the Gentiles had received the word of God.

1 Soon 곧 the news 그 소식은 reached 도달했다 the apostles 사도들과 and other 다른 believers 신자자들에게

in Judea 유대에 있는 that절 내용인 소식이 즉 the Gentiles 이방인들이 had received 받았다는 것

the word of God 하나님의 말씀을.

2 But when Peter arrived /back /in Jerusalem, the Jewish believers criticized him.

2 But 그러나 when 그때 Peter 베드로가 arrived back 돌아왔을 때 in Jerusalem 예루살렘에,

the Jewish believers 유대인 신자들은 criticized 비난했다 him 그를.

'이방인 상종불가'가 율법인 것으로 아는 유대인이면 누구나 율법을 깬 베드로를 비난할 자격이 충분하지만

베드로 역시도 이방인 상종을 금기로 확신하였지만 하나님께서 하라고 하시니 순종하여 한 일이므로

베드로를 비난하는 것은 곧 하나님을 비난하는 것이 되는데 예수님께서는 비난/비판 자체를 금하신다 (마 7:1)

1-2 By the time 그 때쯤에 (that) Peter 베드로와 and his friends 그의 친구들이 from Joppa 욥바 출신인 returned 돌아왔을 때

to Jerusalem 예루살렘에,

 news 소식이 about outsiders 이방인들에 대한 accepting 수락한 God’s message 하나님의 말씀을 had already 이미

spread 퍼졌다 to the Lord’s emissaries 주님의 사도들에게와 and believers 신자들에게 there 거기있는.

Some 몇몇이 of the circumcised believers 할례 받은 신자들의 didn’t welcome 환영하지 않았다 Peter 베드로를

with joy 기쁨으로, but 그러나 with criticism 비판으로.

* 전치사구 By the time (that) Peter and his friends from Joppa returned to Jerusalem, 전치사+전목+형절

3 “You entered the home of Gentiles and even ate /with them!” they said.

3 “You 당신은 entered 들어갔고 the home 집에 of Gentiles 이방인의 and even ate 먹기조차 했다 with them 그들하고!”

3 Circumcised Believers 할례를 받은 신자들:  Why 왜 did you 당신은 violate 위반했느냐 divine law 신성한 법을

by associating 어울리고 with outsiders 이방인들과 and sitting 착석함으로 at the table 식탁에 with them 그들하고

for a meal 식사를 위해? This 이것은 is an outrage 열불 나는 일이다!

* 사실 베드로가 위반을 했다 손 치더라도 그 위반은 그들에게 위해를 가한 위반이 아니었기에 그들이 화낼 일은 아니나

  자격 없는 자기들이 재판석에 앉은 재판관 자격으로 잘못임을 판단하기에 화를 냈다 봄

4 Then Peter told them exactly [what had happened].

5 “I was in the town of Joppa,” he said, “and while I was praying, I went /into a trance and saw a vision.

[Something like a large sheet] was let down /by its four corners /from the sky. And it came /right down to me.

In my vision 내 환상에서, something 어떤 것이 like a huge sheet 큰 보따리 같은 것이 descended 하강했다

from the sky 하늘로부터

It 그건 landed 내려앉았다 right in front of me 내 바로 앞에.

6 When I looked /inside the sheet, I saw all sorts of tame and wild animals, reptiles, and birds.

7 And I heard a voice say, ‘Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.’

8 “‘No, Lord,’ I replied. ‘I have never eaten [anything //that our Jewish laws have declared impure or unclean]. ’

8 “‘No 아닙니다, Lord 주님,’ I 나는 replied 답변했다.

‘I 나는 have never 결코 eaten 먹은 적 없습니다 anything 어떤 것도 that 그건 our Jewish laws 우리의 유대인 율법이

Not a single bite 단 한점도 of forbidden 금지된, nonkosher 율법에 거슬리는 food 음식을 has ever touched 닿지도 않았습니다

my lips 내 입술에.” 

* No way ; used to tell someone that something is impossible:

* 예수님께서 입으로 들어가는 것이 아닌 나오는 것이 사람을 부정하게 한다고 말씀하셨기에

   율법에 부정한 음식만 안 먹으면 의롭게 된다는 생각은 잘못된 생각이었음이 판명됨

9 “But the voice from heaven spoke again: ‘Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.’

9 “But 그러나 the voice 그 음성은 from heaven 하늘에서 나온 spoke 말씀하셨다 again 다시금:

‘Do not call 부르지 말라 something 어떤 걸 unclean 부정하다고 if 만약 God 하나님께서 has made 만드셨다면 it 그걸

clean 정하게.’

9 But 그러나 then 그러고 나서 the voice 그 음성은 spoke 말씀하셨다 from heaven 하늘로부터 a second time 두 번째:

“If 만약 God 하나님께서 makes 만드신다면 something 어떤 것을 clean 정결하게,

you 너는 must not call 부르면 안 된다 it 그걸 dirty 더럽다거나 or forbidden 금지된 것이라고.” 

10 This happened three times /before the sheet and [all () it contained] was pulled back up /to heaven.

10 This 이 일이 happened 일어났다 three times 세 차례 before 그전에 [the sheet 그 보따리와

and all 모든 것이 (that) 그건 it 그것이 contained 담고 있는] was pulled back up 끌려 올려져 갔다 to heaven 하늘로.

11 “Just then [three men //who had been sent from Caesarea] arrived /at the house //where we were staying.

arrived 도착했다 at the house 그 집에 where 그곳에 we 우리가 were staying 머무르는 중인.

11 At that very second 바로 그 순간에, three men 세 사람이 arrived 도착했다  at the house 그 집에 where 거기서 I  내가

was staying 머무르는 중인. They 그들은 had come 왔었다 to me 나에게 from Caesarea 가이사랴에서. 

* 하나님께서 하시는 일은 긴가민가 애매하게 하시지 않는 것이 초 읽기로 맞추어 초면인 세 사람의 방문이 조율되었고

  그것도 12시간 거리를 걸어온 걸 생각하면 기적의 시간 맞춤이고 시몬이 피장의 집에 유한다는 사실이 알려진 바도 없고

  보따리가 끌려 올라간 즉시 입장이 된 사실은 무대 감독이 극을 연출하는 것처럼 정확하게 진행되므로 의심여지 없다

12 The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry that they were Gentiles. 

These six brothers here accompanied me, and we soon entered the home of the man //who had sent for us.

12 The Holy Spirit 성령님께서 told 말씀하셨고 me 나에게 to go 가기를 with them 그들과 함께

and not to worry 걱정하지 말기를 that절 내용을 즉 they 그들이 were Gentiles 이방인이라는 걸. 

These six brothers 이들 여섯 형제들이 here 여기 있는 accompanied 동행했고 me 나를,

and we 우린 soon 곧 entered 들어갔다 the home 그 집을 of the man 그 사람의 who 그는 had sent for 데리러 보낸 us 우리를.

* 4 형식 told me to go with them (tell은 정보전달 의미로 쓰이기에 '누구에게 무엇을' 전달하다는 4 형식 구조로 분류함)

12 The Holy Spirit 성령님께서 told 말씀하셨다 me 나에게 (that) I 내가 should go 가야 한다고 with them 그들과,

that I 내가 shouldn’t make 만들면 안 된다고 any distinction 어떤 구별도 between them as Gentiles 이방인 그들과

and us as Jews 유대인 우리 사이에.

These six brothers 이들 여섯 형제가 from Joppa 욥바 출신인 came 왔다 with me 나와 같이;

and yes 맞다, we 우린 entered 들어갔다 the man’s home 그 사람의 집을

even though 비록 he 그는 was an outsider 이방인들이었지만.

* 직목인 명사절 (that) I should go with them, that I shouldn’t make any distinction between~

유대인 율법으로 금지된 이방인 상종을 범한? 일은 유대 사회로 치면 묵과될 수 없는 엄청난 대죄인걸 알기에

베드로는 이 모든 일에 증인인 여섯 형제를 대동하고 예루살렘으로 가서 유대인 신자들을 확신시켰다

13 He told us how an angel had appeared /to him /in his home

and had told him, ‘Send messengers to Joppa, and summon a man /named Simon Peter.

13 He 그는 told 말했고 us 우리에게 [how 어떻게 an angel 한 천사가 had appeared 나타났었고 /to him 그에게

/in his home 그의 집 안에서

and had told 말했었는지를 him 그에게, ‘Send 보내라 messengers 사자를 to Joppa 욥바로,

and summon 호출하라 a man 한 사람을 named 불리는 Simon Peter 시몬 베드로를.

a heavenly messenger 천사를 standing 서 있는 in his house 그의 집에 who 그 천사는 said 말했다,

“Send 보내서 to Joppa 욥바로 and bring back 데려와라 Simon 시몬을, also 또한 called 불리는 Peter 베드로라고,

15 “As I began to speak,” Peter continued, “the Holy Spirit fell on them,

 just as he fell on us at the beginning.

16 Then I thought of the Lord’s words /when he said, 

‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’

16 Then 그러고 나서 I 나는 remembered 기억했다 what 그것을 Jesus 예수님께서 had said 말씀하신 to us 우리에게:

“John 요한은 ritually 예식적으로 cleansed 씻었다 people 사람들을 with water 물로 through baptism 세례를 통하여,

but 그러나 you 너희는 will be washed 씻음 받을 것이다 with the Holy Spirit 성령으로.”

*  remembered의 목적인 의문사절 what Jesus had said (목) to us  의문사=접속사=목적

17 And since God gave these Gentiles [the same gift () he gave us] /when we believed in [the Lord Jesus Christ],

who was I to stand in God’s way?”

17 And since 왜냐면 God 하나님께서 gave 주셨기에 these Gentiles 이들 이방인들에게 the same gift 같은 선물을

(that) 그건 he 그분께서 gave 주셨던 us 우리에게 when 그때 we 우리가 believed in 신뢰했을 때

the Lord Jesus Christ 주님이신 예수 그리스도를,

 who 누군데 was I 내가 to stand 막고 서겠느냐 in God’s way 하나님의 길을?”

17 So 그래서, if 만약 God 하나님께서 gave 주셨다면 them 그들에게 the same 같은 gift 선물을 (that) 그건 we 우리에게

were given 주어졌던 when 그때 we 우리가 believed in 신뢰했을 때 the Lord Jesus 주 예수님을,

the Anointed One 기름 부으심을 받으신 분이신, 

who 누군데 was I 내가 to stand 막고 서겠느냐 in God’s way 하나님의 길을?

18 When the others heard this, they stopped objecting and began praising God. 

They said, “We can see that God has also given [the Gentiles] [the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life].”

18 When 그때 the others 다른 이들이 heard 들었을 때 this 이 일을,

they 그들은 stopped 멈추었고 objecting 반대하기를 and began 시작했다 praising 찬송하기를 God 하나님을. 

They 그들은 said 말했다, “We 우리는 can see 볼 수 있다 that절 내용을 즉 God 하나님께서 has also 또한 given 주셨다는 걸

the Gentiles 이방인들에게 the privilege 그 특권을 of repenting 회개하기와 of their sins 그들의 죄에 대해

and receiving 받기의 eternal life 영생을.”

Circumcised Believers 할례받은 신자들: Well 좋아요 then 그렇다면, we 우리는 must conclude 결론지어야 한다

that절 내용을 즉 God 하나님께서 has given 주셨다는 걸 to the outsiders 이방인들에게 [the opportunity 그 기회를

to rethink 다시 생각할 their lives 그들의 삶을, turn 돌아 설 to God 하나님께, and gain 획득할 a new life 새 삶을].

* 형역 부정사구 to rethink their lives, (to) turn to God, and (to) gain a new life

19 Meanwhile, [the believers //who had been scattered /during the persecution after Stephen’s death] traveled /as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch of Syria. They preached the word of God, but only to Jews.

19 Meanwhile 그럴 즈음, the believers 그 신자들은 who had been scattered 흩어졌었든 during the persecution 핍박 동안

after Stephen’s death 스데반의 죽음 후에 traveled 이동했다

as far as Phoenicia 베니게와, Cyprus 구브로와, and Antioch 안디옥까지 of Syria 시리아의.

They 그들은 preached 전파했다 the word of God 하나님의 말씀을, but 그러나 only 단지 to Jews 유대인들에게만.

초대 그리스도인들도 처음에는 이방인들의 구원은 안중에도 없었기에 유대인들에게만 복음을 전했다

19 [The believers 그 신자들은 who were scattered 흩어졌었든 from Judea 유대로부터 because of 때문에 the persecution 핍박

following 뒤따라온  Stephen’s 스데반의 stoning 돌 처형을] kept 계속했다 moving out 이동하여 나가기를, 

reaching 도달하면서 Phoenicia 베니게와, Cyprus 구브로와, and Antioch 안디옥에.

Until this time 이때까지는, they 그들은 had only 단지 shared 나누었었다 their message 그들의 전언을 with Jews 유대인들과.

20 However, [some of the believers //who went /to Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene] began [preaching to the Gentiles

about the Lord Jesus].

from Cyprus 구브로와 and Cyrene 구레네로부터  began 시작했다 preaching 전파하기를 to the Gentiles 이방인들에게

 about the Lord Jesus 주 예수님에 대하여.

베드로가 지시하지 않았어도 성령님의 인도하심을 받는 평신도들은 자발적으로 이방인들에게도 복음을 전했는데

이로 인해 먼 동방의 한국 이방인들에게도 복음이 전달되어 구원을 받는 축복을 누리게 되었다

20 Then 그러고 나서 [some 몇몇 men 사람들이 from Cyprus 구브로와 and Cyrene 구레네에서 온 who 그들

had become 되었던 believers 신자들이] came 왔다 to Antioch 안디옥으로,

 and they 그들은 began 시작했다 sharing 나누기를 the message 말씀을 of the Lord Jesus 주 예수님의

with some 몇몇 Greek 헬라인 converts 개종자들과 to Judaism 유대교로 개종한.

21 The power of the Lord was with them, and a large number of these Gentiles believed and turned /to the Lord.

22 When the church at Jerusalem  heard [what had happened], they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

22 When 그때 the church 교회가 at Jerusalem 예루살렘에 있는 heard 들었을 때 what 그 일을 had happened 일어났던,

they 그들은 sent 보냈다 Barnabas 바나바를 to Antioch 안디옥으로.

22 Word 소식이 of this new development 이 새로운 발전의 came 왔고 to the church 교회에게 in Jerusalem 예루살렘에 있는, 

and they 그들은 sent 보냈다 Barnabas 바나바를 to Antioch 안디옥으로 to investigate 조사해보라고.

23 When he arrived and saw this evidence of God’s blessing, 

he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord.
