Retinitis, Hypertension and Stroke Prodome

I herewith update the case of a man whose chief complaint was central retinitis.
The former case was recorded mainly focusing on hypertension, but now it shall be
done on the relation retinitis between antihypertensive drugs.

For your reference, I qoute the former case hereunder. at first and then I will
mention the result after three years later.
      
        

Tongue is a very effective sign as a autodiagnosis.
Every one can check one's tongue in front of mirror ay any
time. The coating on the tongue shows how many waste
products in the body.

In the view of east asian medicine the coating is belong to
humidity. East asian medicine doctors diagnose the diseases
with checking other various signs but the tongue is the most
important sign.

The pathology of following cases should not be applicable
to the all of hypertension patients. But it is very helpful.




A. Case I ( Liver weakness in the most differantial)

2. Chief Complaints
His chief complaint is to treat and maintain and prevent further
central retinitis that is relapsed lately. I noticed he had taken
blood pressure depressant over consuiting.

Both of central retinitis and hypertention have common
pathology of humidity. So for easy understanding I focus the
theory on the hypertention in this case.

When he takes the depressant, the blood pressure is 130/90,
if not, 150/100.

3. Other Symptoms and Signs
Reddish face
Lips are dark red and light reflecting
Oily face
Red eyes
Frequent drinking
a little fatty liver

Pulse : A little float, strong, tensed and  a little fast  
Tongue : Dark red, The coating in the front is thin but
              in the rear very thick and a yellowish.
Abdomen : The skin is darkish and rough with atopy.
                 Low abdomen is rugged under fatty skin.
                 A little pain on central upper abdomen.

4. Diagnosis
Liver weak and congestive
Heart small
Lung weak

5. Pathology
Above composition of three organs means that the circulation
is poor. His liver is weak and congestive. The congestive
liver means lots of energy consuption on eyes or head.
Meanwhile the weak liver means the short of blood. So
the eyes spend lots of energy compulsorily but the material
of energy is short. In the result the blood vessels on the eyes
are getting bigger and bigger to supply the blood. In the
long run the blood vessels are ruptured and bleeded in the
retina. This is central retinitis.

Same mechanism is in the blood vessels on the all over
the body. This produces waste products - humidity.
The humidity on the body appears on the tongue as a
sign of coating. And then humidity in the vessels obstructs
the flow of blood, which pushs the blood pressure upward.

6. Prescription
To improve and to release liver
To improve blood circulation and to purify blood.
To get rid of fever and humidity

7. Results

1st Prescription
To get rid of fever and humidity is main.

1st Result
The coating got thinner by 30% than before.
The darkish skin on abdomen disappeared.
Central retinitis are same as before
Pulse is a little weaker than before. this means the
blood pressure is getting lower.

2nd Prescription
To reduce the herbs for purifying blood but
to increased for circulating blood.

2nd Result
Retinitis are better than before. Now the darkness on the
central sight is getting dim.
Eyes are clearer than before
Face is looking good due to decreased oil.

The coating got thinner much than before. The color
was changed from yellowish ro white.
The blood pressure got lowered to the extent that he
had to reduce the depressant by half. He takes one tablet
per day instead of two tablets.
The pulse was also changed from "tensed" to " a little
rythmical". This means the elasticity of the vessels is
better than before. It reduces marginal resistance of the
vessels.

He said " It is mysteriuos that the herbal tea make my
blood pressure lowered"  
I answered
" I have already said about blood pressure in the first
consulting. Maybe you skipped my advice because you
had never believe that the blood pressure could be lowered
at any cases according to the teachings of western
medicine doctors."

3rd Prescription
Same as 2nd

I could not confirm‎ the result. But I am sure that he will
come to me again if he faces previous troubles on eyes
or blood pressure or other skin.

  3 Years later,

1. Retinitis

3 years ago, his left eye got retinitis whose symptom was black oval screen on the
central vision and letters are shown as smaller than original size. And with three times
of Harabi prescriptions his eye came back to normal and lasts as good till now.

However, now right eye got retinitis and the central area of sight getting darkish.
He has experienced herbal medication of East Asian Medicine, so he came to me
directly without examination at the eye clinic.

2. Hypertension

3 years ago, he reduced the antihypertensive drugs by half because the blood
pressure got lower and lower during hebal medication.( He was surely with low
blood pressure in young ages.) However after the complete recovery of retinitis,
he changed his mind from taking more herbal prescriptions for stopping antihypertensive
drugs to not taking more ones because he thought his blood pressure would be
getting lower and lower though he did not take more herbs.

However, as the years have passed on, the blood pressure got higher to the extent that
he had to take same quantity as he did before. I guessed the presuure would be 140-150
in systolic through my finger's sense.

At this time he promised to me that he would treat the retinitis and furthermore treat the
hypertension perfectly. But I was not sure he would do because he would surely save
the money.

3. The color of the tongue and palm

3 years ago, the color of the tomgue and the palm was purple at first and after herbal
prescriptions, the color changed to light red or pinky. Now still the color remain pinky.
This means that the blood has kept in good status.

4. The coating of the tongue
Thick and white as it was in 3 years ago. This humidity would surely cause the retinits.

Morning erection as well as urine are not good as they were.
The signs of abdomen shows same as before.

5. Antihypertensive drugs and stroke prodome

I would like to say repeatedly that strokes do not come suddenly.
Overhumidity in the blood would cause cerebral thrombosis.
Malnutirition in the marginal vessels would cause cerebral hemorrhage.
Both of thrombosis and hemorrhage are commonly caused by the poor Ki and
blood circulation in cerebral capillary vessels.

By the way, you have to catch the concept that the body must increase the pressure
to improve the circulation in the brain to protect from the poor Ki and blood. This is
a basic theory and a truth. However lots of doctors have the patients forget this plain
thruth. If the blood pressure artificailly get down, the protection mechanism will be
more strong, so the blood pressure will go upward in proportion to the artificial
reduced pressure.

Now then can you understand why the antihypertensive drugs push upward
the blood pressure more and more and not to stop taking the drugs permanently?

If you understand this mechanism, you will also do why the stroke patients have
hyertension. I mean hypertension is not the cause of the stroke but the result
and self treatment process of the stroke that is caused by the overhumidity and poor
nutirition in capillary vessels. But lots of brain doctors looks think in reverse!

As you know the brain is the most important organs in the body. So if there is a
slight danger in the brain, the body immediately send sign of emmergency as such
as abnormal sensitivity in body and mentality. This is premonitary signs of stroke.

The most common prodome of stroke is a feeling that the ceiling or buliding or things
sway little suddenly. In this case, most people think "Oh, why? My sense must work
wrong. It might be caused from my over working recently." And then the happening
pass away for the time being and come again in some day and will pass away as
same as before. In the light of East Asian Medicine, it is a sign of wrong mental acitivity
whose relating organ is the brain. Because this happening always passes away
unnoticeably, so people think that a stroke comes suddenly.

In regard to retinitis, what is the ground for the relation retinitis between stroke?
Retinits is caused by the bleeding of capillary vessels on the retina.
Ok that's true. By the way, the vessels on the retina are come from the cerebral
vessel. Now we can guess that the vessels in the brain can be weakened to
leak the blood if the distance is the same as the rentina vessels from the cerebral
vessel.

So then, retinitis must be one of strong sign of stroke!
Actually many of retinitis patients appeal for the stroke symptoms to me.

6. Dieting for past 3 years

Prostate trouble : He has not practiced the exercise which Harabi recommends.
Oily face, white coated tongue and body odor : He has not sweated enough as required.
He said he had been busy all the years not to go Zimjilbang( Korean style sauna whose
heating mechanism is the same as Ondol heating system.)

Pinky color of the tongue and palm : He must have been moderate in drinking and smoking.
So his blood has kept as purified so far.

His medication means that herbal prescriptions treat not only the retinitis
but also treat and prevent from cerebral stroke.
Any pathological changes or symtoms around brain shall not be passed away but
shall be invetigated in the basic pathology
