Version 0.6.0 of the Ordinals Protocol just went live! Here is everything you need to know about this major update: Many previously unrecognized inscriptions are now indexed by the Ordinals Protocol as "Cursed Inscriptions". This is important because over 70k existing but invalid inscriptions are now supported which means that once marketplaces upgrade to v0.6.0 you will be able to start trading them. Unlike normal inscriptions that are assigned a positive inscription number, Cursed Inscriptions are assigned a negative inscription number. The first cursed inscription was -1 and we are now at -71,508. You can think of Cursed Inscriptions as being a stepping stone that gives previously invalid types of inscriptions a path toward becoming normal inscriptions with positive inscription numbers. A particular kind of Cursed Inscriptions can become "blessed" by performing an upgrade to the protocol that sets a block activation height where a specific type of previously Cursed Inscriptions would start being indexed as normal positive inscriptions. The negative Cursed Inscriptions created before that block height would remain negative and cursed forever, however, new inscriptions of that type will be positive normal inscriptions going forward. The very critical thing that many people do not seem to understand about Cursed Inscriptions is that while positive inscription numbers will never change, negative inscription numbers can and will. If a new edge case is found and a new type of Cursed Inscription is added, the existing Cursed Inscriptions will be reindexed and the new Cursed Inscriptions will be inserted which will shift around the negative inscription numbers. Everyone holding Cursed Inscriptions should expect the negative inscription numbers to be shifted. For this reason it doesn't really make sense to focus too much on the specific negative inscription numbers that you hold as they will very likely change, potentially many times.
