A judge has blocked the new Louisiana law requiring the 10 commandments to be displayed in every public classroom by January.
The judge says the law is unconstitutional on its face, and plaintiffs are unlikely to win their case with claims that the law violated the First Amendment.
Opponents say the law is a violation of the separation of church and state, and the post-size display of the 10 commandments isolates students.
Advocates meanwhile say the measure isn't just religious but commandments also have historical significance in the foundation of US law
