에베소서 2:15–18

원수 된 것 곧 의문에 속한 계명의 율법을 자기 육체로 폐하셨으니 이는 이 둘로 자기 안에서 한 새 사람을 지어 화평하게 하시고 또 십자가로 이 둘을 한 몸으로 하나님과 화목하게 하려 하심이라 원수 된 것을 십자가로 소멸하시고 또 오셔서 먼 데 있는 너희에게 평안을 전하고 가까운 데 있는 자들에게 평안을 전하셨으니 이는 저로 말미암아 우리 둘이 한 성령 안에서 아버지께 나아감을 얻게 하려 하심이라.

하나님의 의로운 율법을 온전히 지키는 자는 심판을 받지 않습니다. 그러나 율법을 완전하게 지키며 사는 사람은 아무도 없습니다.하나님께서는 인간을 살리시기 위해 율법을 주셨습니다. 그러나 모든 사람이 율법을 범하여 죄인이 되었고, 하나님의 원수가 되어 사탄의 종으로 전락하고 말았습니다.

그래서 하나님께서 하나님의 아들이신 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 이 세상에 오셔서 십자가에 죽으셨습니다.누구든지 예수님을 구원자로 믿고 자신의 죄를 회개하면 예수님의 피로 모든 죄를 용서받을 수 있게 되었습니다.

하나님의 율법을 받고도 이를 지키지 못해 하나님의 원수가 된 유대인들이나, 하나님을 전혀 알지 못했던 이방인들이나 가릴 것 없이 모두가 예수님의 피를 통해 죄 사함을 받게 된 것입니다. 죄 때문에 멸망할 수밖에 없는 모든 사람을 살리시기 위해 예수님께서 자신의 생명을 십자가에 내어주셨습니다.

예수님께서 이렇게 하신 목적은 죄인들이 죄 사함을 받고 하나님 앞에 나아갈 수 있도록 하기 위함입니다.죄인은 결코 의로우신 하나님 앞에 나아갈 수 없습니다. 죄를 용서받지 못한 채 하나님 앞에 서는 자는 하나님의 의로운 심판을 피할 수 없습니다.

그러나 하나님께 좀 더 가까이 있었던 유대인들이나 하나님과 멀리 떨어져 있던 이방인들이나 공통으로 예수 그리스도를 통해 하나님 앞에 나아갈 수 있는 길이 열렸습니다. 예수님을 믿고 회개하는 자들은 그때까지 지었던 모든 죄를 용서받고 새로운 삶을 시작하는 것이다.

욕심과 미움으로 살아가던 옛 삶을 버리고, 이제는 다른 사람을 용서하고 사랑하며 살아가는 자로 된 것이다. 예수님을 믿고 죄를 회개하는 자는 하나님 앞에서 새로운 신분을 얻게 됩니다. 육신의 욕심을 위해 살아가던 자들이 이제는 하나님의 나라와 그의 의를 위해 살아가는 것이다.

세상의 것만 바라보며 살아가던 자들이 영원한 천국을 바라보며 살아가게 됩니다.

마귀의 권세 아래 있던 자들이 이제는 성령의 인도하심과 보호 아래 살아가게 되는 것입니다.이것이 예수 그리스도의 피로 죄 사함을 받고 새롭게 변화된 하나님의 백성들의 모습인 것이다.

천국의 시민권을 받은 자들은 죄를 회개하고 하나님의 말씀에 순종함으로써 하나님께서 주신 새로운 신분을 끝까지 지켜야 합니다. 예수님께서 십자가에서 흘리신 피로 죄 사함을 받은 자들은 다시 죄의 종으로 돌아가서는 안 됩니다.

날마다 자신의 죄를 회개하고 성령의 인도하심을 따라 하나님의 말씀에 순종하며 살아가야 합니다. 이렇게 끝까지 믿음을 지키며 주님의 말씀에 순종하는 자들이 영원한 천국에 들어가게 되는 것입니다.

Ephesians 2:15–18 (NIV)

"by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit."

Those who perfectly obey God's righteous law will not be judged. However, there is no one who can live in perfect obedience to the entire law.

God gave the law so that human beings might live. However, everyone has broken the law and become a sinner, becoming an enemy of God and falling into slavery to Satan.

Therefore, God came into this world in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and died on the cross.

Anyone who believes in Jesus as their Savior and repents of their sins can receive forgiveness for all their sins through the blood of Jesus.

The Jews, who received God's law but failed to obey it and became enemies of God, and the Gentiles, who did not know God at all, can both receive forgiveness of their sins through the blood of Jesus, without distinction.

Jesus gave His own life on the cross to save all people who would otherwise perish because of their sins.

The purpose of Jesus' sacrifice was to enable sinners to receive forgiveness and come before God.

Sinners can never approach the righteous God on their own. Those who stand before God without receiving forgiveness for their sins cannot escape His righteous judgment.

However, through Jesus Christ, the way has been opened for both the Jews, who were somewhat closer to God, and the Gentiles, who were far away from Him, to come before God.

Those who believe in Jesus and repent of their sins receive forgiveness for all the sins they have committed up to that point and begin a new life.

They abandon their former way of life, which was filled with greed and hatred, and become people who forgive and love others.

Those who believe in Jesus and repent of their sins receive a new identity before God.

Those who once lived to satisfy the desires of the flesh now live for the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Those who once lived only for the things of this world now live with their eyes fixed on the eternal kingdom of heaven.

Those who were once under the power of the devil now live under the guidance and protection of the Holy Spirit.

This is what God's people look like when they have received forgiveness of their sins through the blood of Jesus Christ and have been transformed into new people.

Those who have received citizenship in heaven must preserve their new identity, which God has given them, until the end by repenting of their sins and obeying God's Word.

Those who have received forgiveness of their sins through the blood Jesus shed on the cross must never return to slavery to sin.

They must repent of their sins every day and live in obedience to God's Word, following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Those who remain faithful to the end and continue to obey the words of the Lord are the ones who will enter the eternal kingdom of heaven.
