https://www.youtube.com/live/nXr3NCencqA?si=djiBqechx6EhbE48
Sunday Sermon — October 25, 2026
God Gives More Faith to Those Who Obey
When we confess Jesus as our Savior, God gives us faith.
As we obey the Lord’s Word, that faith grows more and more.
But if we disobey and do not repent, that faith gradually fades away.
We enter heaven through faith. If we lose our faith, we cannot enter heaven.
Matthew 13:12
“Whoever has will be given more and will have an abundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away.”
Do not complain to the Lord that your faith is weak.
A lack of faith is evidence of your own disobedience to the Lord.
Faith is not gained through good luck. It is gained through obedience and repentance.
Satan is always trying to take away our faith.
That is why he leads God’s children into disobedience and keeps them from repenting.
When we overcome Satan’s temptations and obey, the Holy Spirit works in us and gives us more faith.
Faith is a gift from God.
But He gives a greater gift of faith to those who earnestly repent.
Our lack of faith is the consequence of our own actions.
Our just God gives each person an appropriate measure of talents and faith.
Those who have received faith must nurture it through obedience, so that it grows into the faith needed to enter heaven.
Matthew 25:28–30
“Take the one talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents. For whoever has will be given more and will have an abundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away. Throw this worthless servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
The person who received one talent must make it two, and the person who received five talents must make them ten.
The abilities the Lord gives differ from person to person. We are responsible for doubling the faith and abilities we have received from Him.
Those who use the Lord’s gifts for worldly pleasure and glory are burying those gifts in the ground.
On the last day, they will be judged by the Lord and thrown into hell.
But those who use them for His kingdom and righteousness will hear His praise, “Well done,” and enter heaven.
Have you confessed Jesus as Lord once, only to live for worldly gain?
Such churchgoers will eventually lose all their faith and go to hell.
Even if you possess worldly knowledge, money, and honor, if you do not use them for the Lord, you are burying His gifts in the ground. Your faith will disappear.
Even if you have neither knowledge nor money, if you live for the Lord, you are putting His gifts to work and gaining a return.
On the last day, you will receive His praise and enter heaven.
What matters more than receiving much is making a return even when you have received little.
The person who receives one talent and gains one more receives the same praise before the Lord as the person who receives five talents and gains five more.
If someone receives five talents but gains only one, he cannot receive that praise.
If you have received many gifts from the Lord but are stingy toward Him, giving only a little for the sake of appearances while using most of what you have for your own glory and pleasure, how can you expect His praise?
Mark 4:24–25
He also said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you. For whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away.”
If we measure the faults of others, the Lord will also measure our faults and sins.
If we act in faith, forgive others, and do good to them, the Lord gives us more faith.
As our faith grows, our hearts become more generous, and we gain greater strength to obey.
Then we can live in peace without lacking what we need in this world and enter heaven abundantly supplied.
But if someone claims to believe in Jesus yet cannot live in harmony and clashes with others over every matter, his faith will gradually grow cold. He will live in suffering and then go to hell.
Once saved does not mean always saved.
We must nurture the faith the Lord has given us.
We must train ourselves every day to obey His Word fully.
When we confess Jesus as our Savior, that is when our training in obedience to His Word begins.
But human doctrines have blocked this.
They say that once you believe in Jesus, you will enter heaven unconditionally, and that you could not go to hell even if you wanted to.
So people live as they please and become even more corrupt.
They indulge their greed, refuse to humble themselves, and do not know how to yield to others.
They carry their Bibles and attend church diligently, yet they do not understand what the Bible says.
When they reach hell, they weep, saying, “Ah, I lived wrongly!” But by then they have already lost their opportunity for salvation.
We must carefully guard the precious faith the Lord has given us.
If we sin and do not repent, it disappears like mist.
Why do famous pastors go to hell after building large churches?
They failed to guard their own faith.
Intoxicated by the respect and praise of their congregations, they lost the faith they had received from the Lord.
When everything is going well, we must never become proud.
We must believe the unchanging Word of Scripture to the end.
We must bow our knees before the Lord’s Word.
Luke 19:21–22
“For I was afraid of you, because you are a stern man. You take what you did not put down and reap what you did not sow.” His master said to him, “You wicked servant, I will judge you by your own words. You knew that I am a stern man, taking what I did not put down and reaping what I did not sow, did you?”
Human doctrines say that because God is almighty, people do not need to make an effort to obey.
They claim that we can simply live comfortably and the Lord will take care of our salvation.
But God is never like that.
He wants people who have received the grace and love of Jesus to become like the Lord and put His love into practice.
The Lord is glorified when we put away hatred and greed and forgive and love one another according to His Word.
To say, “Even if people live according to fleshly desires, hate others, and do not love, the Lord will save everyone because He is love,” is to oppose the Lord.
The Lord enables people to reap thirty, sixty, or a hundred times what they have sown.
He does not allow those who sow evil to reap blessings and heaven unconditionally.
Luke 8:18
“Therefore, pay careful attention to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away.”
Anyone who hears the Lord’s Word, puts it into practice, and guards his faith receives more grace and faith from the Lord.
But those who believe in Jesus yet continue to disobey His Word without repenting will have even the initial faith they received from Him taken away.
The faith the Lord gives us can either grow or decline, depending on how we care for it.
Many within the church begin by the Spirit but end in the flesh.
Galatians 3:3
“Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now going to finish by the flesh?”
If once saved meant always saved, there would be no need for such words to be written.
Everyone who confesses Jesus as Savior receives the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit leads that person. But if he refuses to follow the Spirit’s direction and instead follows fleshly desires, he becomes someone who ends in the flesh.
So many people become corrupt after believing in Jesus.
Human doctrines tell them that everyone who has believed once will enter heaven, so they do not repent.
Those who are deeply immersed in human doctrines do not even want to hear these passages of Scripture.
The Lord disciplines them. If they still refuse to listen, they will go to hell after attending church.
James 1:22–25
“Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Anyone who hears the Word but does not do it is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror. He looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the person who looks intently into the perfect law that brings freedom and continues in it, becoming not a forgetful hearer but a doer who acts, will be blessed in what he does.”
If you merely hear the words of Scripture without doing them, you have no faith.
You must look in the mirror and correct yourself. Merely looking and walking away accomplishes nothing.
God has given us the law that brings freedom.
Freedom comes when we put it into practice.
Put a life of repentance into practice. Make every effort to obey.
Obey with all your heart. Even then, shortcomings will appear. Repent of them.
The Lord will forgive and bless you.
He gives not only blessings in this world but also the blessing of entering heaven.
Many people hear sound preaching yet do not act on it.
If they hear false preaching from the beginning, who will obey?
If they are told they can enter heaven without obeying, who will obey after hearing such a sermon?
Do not listen to preaching that does not agree with Scripture.
Hearing preaching that agrees with Scripture, obeying it, and repenting is the way to heaven.
James 2:17
“In the same way, faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.”
A dead child cannot be kept at home; the body must be taken out and buried.
Dead faith does not abide in the Lord.
Dead faith attends church and listens to sermons, but neither acts nor repents.
We must have living faith to enter heaven.
A branch that bears no grapes is cut off.
A fig tree without fruit withers.
Those who cry, “Lord, Lord,” but disobey and do not repent are thrown into hell.
Believe what is written in Scripture.
When we call for obedience, those who follow human doctrines slander us as legalists.
The legalism described in Scripture is being clean on the outside but filthy within.
Harboring an evil heart while pretending to be holy outwardly is legalism.
Those who have cleaned the outside must also clean the inside.
The One who made the outside also made the inside.
No matter how hard we try, our inner selves repeatedly become unclean.
We must make earnest efforts and bring those efforts to completion through repentance in order to remain clean.
Legalists think they can hide their filthy hearts.
How foolish this is before almighty God!
We must repent of the sins in our hearts and enjoy the peace the Lord gives.
James 2:22
“You see that his faith was working together with his actions, and through his actions his faith was made complete.”
We must not merely proclaim with our mouths that we have faith. We must show our actions before the Lord.
Faith and actions cannot be separated. How can you separate the two sides of a coin?
If you obey the Lord’s Word, you believe in the Lord.
But if you disobey and do not repent, you cannot enter heaven.
If you go to a department store and merely calculate in your head without paying, who will give you the goods?
Memorizing Scripture word for word has no value if you do not put it into practice.
Dead faith ultimately shares the same destiny as unbelief.
John 15:5–6
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever remains in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers. People gather such branches, throw them into the fire, and burn them.”
Jesus is the vine, and we are His branches.
A grapevine branch must remain attached to the vine. It must receive its sap.
If a branch is separated from the vine, it withers and dies.
If someone who believes in Jesus separates himself from Jesus’ Word, his soul dies.
How can a dead branch bear grapes, and how can a dead soul bear the fruit of love?
Those who disobey and do not repent will be burned like dry branches.
Once a tree branch has burned, that is the end of it.
But the fire of hell burns forever.
Those who disobey and do not repent will be salted, as it were, with the fire of hell. Their punishment will never end.
2 Peter 1:5–9
“For this very reason, make every effort to add goodness to your faith, knowledge to goodness, self-control to knowledge, perseverance to self-control, godliness to perseverance, brotherly affection to godliness, and love to brotherly affection. For if these qualities are yours and abound, they will keep you from being idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever lacks these qualities is blind and cannot see far, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins.”
What are obedience and putting the Word into practice?
They are not merely listening with our ears and praising with our lips.
If you hear and understand the Word, put it into practice and build others up.
Do not do good according to your own ideas. Do good according to the knowledge of Scripture.
Restrain fleshly desires and self-glorification.
Patiently bear with the faults of others and forgive them.
Do not put your own interests first. Give priority to brotherly affection.
Let love be the motive for everything you do.
Worldly success without love will instead bring about your destruction.
People slander others and become members of the National Assembly or presidents.
That does not benefit them. After a little while, they will face God’s judgment.
Preaching human knowledge is the blind leading the blind.
People applaud and praise it as something good.
But God judges that person by the standard of His Word.
Those who pursue only earthly gain cannot see far.
They cannot see the heaven and hell they will face after death.
John 14:23
Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My Word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
Those who keep Jesus’ commandments receive the love of God the Father.
This is because God came as Jesus.
God loves that person and comes to dwell within his body.
This means that the Holy Spirit dwells within our bodies.
Almighty God protects and guides us.
There is no greater blessing or happiness than this.
When we sin and fail to repent, the Lord makes us aware of it and leads us to repentance.
He turns us from the path of destruction to the path of life.
His discipline is painful, but it turns someone who is heading toward hell toward heaven.
Matthew 7:22–23
“On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and perform many mighty works in Your name?’ Then I will declare plainly to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
Even after believing in Jesus and preaching the gospel, people may receive a verdict at Christ’s judgment seat that sends them to hell.
The reason is that they practiced lawlessness.
Practicing lawlessness means that they did not keep Christ’s Word.
They attended church but did not repent of their sins or live a life of love.
Living without love is lawlessness.
Everyone who believes in Jesus must practice and train in loving others.
As we do so, we must repent of our shortcomings.
This is the life of faith the Lord desires.
Merely evangelizing with our lips, without a loving heart, is a faith that cannot enter heaven.
We must forgive others and put away pride and selfishness.
No one is perfect. Repent every day.
If we practice lawlessness without repenting, we will perish.
Matthew 7:24–27
“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not collapse, because its foundation had been laid on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and struck that house, and it collapsed. Great was its fall.”
A house built on sand collapses.
Believing in Jesus according to your own ideas is building a house on sand.
Obeying Jesus’ words is building a house on the rock.
We must live our lives of faith according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
To refuse to follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance is to follow Satan.
“How can I be following Satan when I attend church, worship, and give offerings faithfully?”
The outside is holy, but the heart follows the thoughts Satan gives.
It is a heart that lives according to its own ideas, hates others, and refuses to forgive.
This is lawlessness. This is building a house on sand.
At the Lord’s judgment seat, such a person will be thrown into hell.
Luke 6:46–49
“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? I will show you what everyone is like who comes to Me, hears My words, and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the torrent struck it, the house immediately collapsed, and its destruction was great.”
Unbelievers do not cry, “Lord, Lord.” Those who believe in Jesus call upon His name and praise Him.
Yet their lives of faith are not centered on His Word.
The Lord rebukes them:
“Why do you call Me Lord but refuse to listen to what I say?”
Believing in Jesus according to human ideas produces an empty life of faith.
When a crisis comes, such people abandon Jesus, follow the ways of the world, and perish.
Believing in Jesus for worldly gain is faith without a foundation.
Believe in Jesus sincerely and repent.
The Holy Spirit will come. Follow His guidance, forgive others, and live in harmony.
Branches without the fruit of love wither and are thrown away.
The Lord looks at the very heart.
John 15:10
“If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.”
Jesus bore the cross to forgive humanity’s sins.
In doing so, He kept the commandment of God the Father.
This means that what God planned while existing as Spirit, that same God fulfilled exactly after taking on human flesh.
Those who believe in Jesus must follow the example of what He did.
This means sacrificing ourselves to live in harmony with our neighbors.
Even when we are upset, patiently enduring and living in harmony with our neighbors is the way to become like Jesus and enter heaven.
“Keep My commandments.”
This does not mean performing great miracles. It means sacrificing ourselves to live in harmony with our neighbors.
We cannot do it as Jesus did. Nevertheless, make whatever effort you can, and repent.
We must show living faith before the Lord and, at the very least, avoid going to hell.
Hebrews 10:26–29
“If we deliberately sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins remains, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and a raging fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much greater punishment do you think is deserved by someone who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, treated as unholy the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and insulted the Spirit of grace?”
Those who deliberately oppose the Lord after knowing the truth cannot be forgiven.
This is different from sinning because of weakness in faith and ability.
If someone who is filled with the Holy Spirit and has understood spiritual mysteries one day publicly opposes the Lord for the sake of his own reputation and pride, he cannot be forgiven.
No one in our church falls into this category.
Do not be anxious about other things. Repent and obey.
Matthew 24:12–13
“Because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”
Because lawlessness increases, love grows cold in the hearts of many.
Lawlessness is failing to love. As the world becomes harsh and threatening, Christians’ hearts also shrink back.
But we must overcome through the help of the Holy Spirit.
If we read the Word and pray every day, the Holy Spirit gives us the faith and strength to resist being swept along by the spirit of the world.
Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot overcome the world.
Without repentance, we cannot receive the Holy Spirit.
God is the Lord of all things.
Always repent of a heart that fails to acknowledge this.
Repent of knowing the Word but failing to do it.
Even though we always fall short, those who strive to obey and repent continually receive the Lord’s forgiveness, and the Holy Spirit is with them.
Romans 2:6–8
“God will repay each person according to what he has done: eternal life to those who, by persevering in doing good, seek glory, honor, and immortality; but wrath and anger to those who are self-seeking, refuse to obey the truth, and follow unrighteousness.”
Hebrews 3:12–14
“Brothers, take care that none of you has an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. Instead, encourage one another every day, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become participants with Christ if we hold firmly to our original confidence to the end.”
Galatians 6:7–9
“Do not deceive yourselves. God is not mocked. Whatever a person sows, that he will also reap. The one who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not give up.”
