[틈틈이 영어공부] be fed up with(or of/about/that) ~

- 영한 : ~에 질리다, 물리다/식상하다/싫증나다, 지근지근하다, 신물나다, ~에 진저리가 나다.

- 영영 : If you are fed up, you are unhappy, bored, or tired of something, especially something that you have been experiencing for a long time.

- 예문 : 

I’m fed up with clearing up after you! 
네 뒤를 따라 다니며 치우는 데 질렸어!

I’m so fed up I could scream! 
난 너무 지겨워서 비명이 나올 지경이야!

I’m fed up with waiting for her. 
난 그녀를 기다리는 데 질렸어.

Susy: Where is your spare key?
수지: 비상용 키는 어디 있어?

Alice: I wish I knew. I can't find it either.
앨리스: 나도 그걸 알았으면 좋겠어. 그것도 못 찾겠어.

Susy: I've had it with you! Every time I go somewhere with you we're late.
수지: 너한테 질렸다! 너하고 어디 갈 때마다 꼭 늦어요.

Alice: Putting me down won't help.
앨리스: 날 창피 준다고 키가 나오니.

Susy: I'm fed up with looking for your keys. Let's take my car.
수지: 네 자동차 키 찾는 것도 지겹다. 내 차로 가자.

[기억할만한 표현]
* hold on : 기다리세요.
"Could you hold on please? I'll transfer you."(잠시 기다리시겠어요? 전화를 돌려드릴게요.)

*(one) has had it with (someone) : 더 이상 못 참다. 질릴 대로 질리다
"She's had it with her husband so I think she's going to ask him for a divorce."(그녀는 남편에게 질렸대. 내 생각엔 남편에게 이혼하자고 할 것 같아.)

*put (someone) down : (누구에게) 창피를 주다 (또는 put down someone).
"He's always putting down his wife in front of their friends."(그는 항상 친구들 앞에서 아내에게 창피를 줘.)
