Meeting Minutes
Sunday, February 16, 2020

1. Prayer
Opening prayer was given by Rev. Andy Compton

2. Attendance
All council members (Adela Maimot, Mimi Morse, Torao Ota, Steve Pierce, Jeffrey
Silerio, Makiko Watanabe) were present.
Rev. Ken Doo, Mrs. Song Doo, and Rev. Andy Compton were present.

3. Choose Officers
Officers were selected as follows:
▷ Chairperson: Steve Pierce
▷ Vice-Chair: Makiko Watanabe
▷ Treasurer: Mimi Morse
▷ Secretary: Jeffrey Silerio

4. Committee Reports
a) Finance – Steve Pierce
- A chart of the average monthly tithing and expenses was shared with the council.
- Mimi suggested to have an open meeting with the congregation every six months to
communicate about LVFC’s finances.
- Steve presented a summary of finances from November to January

b) Sunday Service – Andy Compton

c) Building – Rev. Ken Doo
- Andy shared a message that was sent from Building Committee Chairperson,
Dieudonne Nkwethat, about the current status of the new church building.

- Andy would like to know if the council will have any influence on determining the
final bid of the building. Dieu was contacted. Dieu shared that the Building
Committee will vote on the final bid. The council will not have so much influence on
determining the final bid. However, the Building committee is an open committee to
LVFC.
- Andy would like to know when the next meeting for the Building Committee will
happen so that some council members can attend the meeting.

d) Youth and Young Adult - Torao Ota
- Torao shared that the Las Vegas Youth Ministry will be holding an event on
Saturday, February 29 th , 2020. The main expense for the event will be from food and
drinks. Torao will send the estimated expenses to Mimi.
- Takahiro Sakaguchi requested to use the Cheon Hwa Gung sanctuary during the
month of February, but it was declined to scheduling conflicts.

5. Old Business
a) Budget: Steve Pierce

b) LVFC financial support of ACLC, WFWP, and UPF and other church related
organizations.

6. New Business
- Rev. Doo would like to make council minutes available to members. Rev Doo will
post the minutes on the LVFC Newsletter.
- Makiko would like for us to think about how can we listen to the concerns of the
congregation more and how we can communicate more effectively with youth and
young adults.
- Makiko would like a census of LVFC to understand who the council is serving.
- Steve would like to know what is the scope of our council members’ powers and
abilities—clearer organization, structure, and responsibilities.
- Steve would like for all council members to submit their contact information—email
addresses and cell phone numbers.

7. Next Council Meeting
Next meeting will be on Sunday, March 15 th at 12:30 p.m.
It has been suggested for the council to meet every third Sunday of the month.
