Two Writing Samples tell readers about Ho Chi Minh City. Two Writing Samples have common things. Example, There are geographic roles of Ho Chi Minh City, buildings style, culture, etc. But Two Writing Samples are different to some things. Now, I explain which different things it is. 

  First, It is different writing style that Writing Sample 1 is travel essay but Writing Sample 2 is descriptive writing. We can know why Writing Sample 1 is travel essay because this essay starts with sentence “Last year I went to Ho Chi Minh City.” We also know why Writing Sample 2 is descriptive writing because this writing hasn't word “I” and gives readers information about Ho Chi Minh City.

  Second, There are different length in each sentence, as examplified in writing 1 has shorter length in each sentence than writing 2. When two writing samples explain about Ho Chi Minh City, Writing 1 uses short lengths' sentences, “Last year I went to Ho Chi Minh City.” “It's a fascinating place.”, “It is in Vietnam.” but Writing 2 uses long lengths' sentences, “For travelers to Southeast Asia, there is no more fascinating place to visit than Ho Chi Minh City.”

     Third, Writing Sample 2 uses more various vocabulary and grammar than Writing Sample 1. When it explains about Frances' influence on Ho Chi Minh City, Writing Sample 1 uses sentence “French effect was everywhere.” but Writing Sample 2 uses sentence “French culture's influences remain pervasive in this city.”. Writing Sample 2 also shows various grammar having the passive, the subjunctive mood etc. But Writing Sample 1 shows simple grammar having almost declarative sentence. 

  In conclusion, There are differences between Writing Sample 1 and 2. Writing Sample 1 is travel essay but Writing Sample 2 is descriptive writing. And Writing Sample 2 has longer length in one sentence, more various vocabulary and grammar than Writing Sample 1. I think that Writing Sample 2 is better sentence than Writing Sample 1.
