환상적인 QTH와 안테나.. 그리고 장비들입니다.
I was originally licenced in the UK as G3ZZM. I still hold that callsign but I don't get to use it that much these days.

My current station comprises of a Kenwood TS930S and a Ten Tec Titan 425 amplifier. I have a new Icom IC-706 MkIIG to work 6m and 2m cw and ssb and a Yaesu FT-1900R for 2m fm base station use.
My Tower Project - Summer 2010

I bought this Rohn 45 tower on an on-line auction from a location in South Carolina when I was working in Illinois. My good friend Tedd AI4WN told me about it. After winning the auction Tedd AI4WN and Carl KP2L picked up the tower and stored it for a year for me. Here is the picture taken just after I had returned from Tedd's house after picking up the tower from storage at his QTH.

Start of the project and a long way to go
After a summer of hard work, I have almost completed the work on my 86 foot guyed Rohn 45 tower. Many thanks for loads of help from Dave KD4JMI, Dan K1TO (A1 Tower Services) and my friends Jim, Alan, Sammy, Larry and Talmadge an excellent rigging expert. The tower is wall bracketed at 18 feet and is guyed at 39 and 81 feet. I have an M2 2M12 twelve element 2 meter beam, an M2 6M7 seven element 6 meter beam and an Optibeam OB 11-5 sitting on a 22 foot mast which is nested 8 feet into the tower. The array is turned by an M2 Orion rotator and a controlled by a Green Heron RT-21 D control box. I have now run the coaxial cable for the 3 beams and hooked them up to the shack through the tower base box and SPG (single point ground) boxes.

Here we are raising the Optibeam with it slung under a tram line. The tram line is run over the tower and through a pulley clamped to the mast, like an inverted vee One end of the tram line is attached to my red pickup truck in the foreground and the other end is anchored to a 100 foot pine tree at the back of the house. The raising power is provided by a 42 horse power farm tractor to the side of the house

Here you can see the pickup truck in the foreground which is being used as one of the anchors of the tram line and in the background is the farm tractor which is pulling the rope which goes through a snatch block at the base of the tower and then up the tower to the gin pole and then down to the pulley on the tram line. As the tractor is reversed, the beam is pulled up the tram line.

Here is Dan, K1TO working on the Optibeam. Talmadge is watching the work progressing

How does it perform? Absolutely amazing!

Winter has arrived in the Carolinas
My 40m Four Square - Summer 2011
I started work on my 40m four square in the Spring of 2011. This array is built around the DX Engineering Four square box

Here is a picture of the array under construction. I did all the digging by hand. It saves on a gym subscription hi hi.

I built four identical vertical radiators from 1 1/2 inch OD aluminum tubing. Here is a picture of one those elements under construction

Each vertical has forty three 33 foot long ground radials attached to it

Here is a picture of the completed array
I have been having a lot of fun with this array. I am getting up to 30dB front to back, so all that measuring
and re-measuring seems to have paid off. I look forward to working you on 40m
