   Section 15 : Su-san(水山,수산)... Ocean and Land... Item No. 163


水山(수산)은 바다와 육지로서 하늘이 육지를 구제함에 바다로서 하고,바다를 구제함에 육지로서 하니 
  Su-san(水山,수산) means the ocean and the land;
   Heaven uses the ocean to save the land, and uses the land to save the ocean.

육지에서의 가르침은 바다에서 교화되고 육지에서의 道(도)는 바다에서 德(덕)이 된다.
  Therefore, teachings from the land achieve moral transformation(enlightenment) in the ocean,
   and the Way(道,도) from the land becomes virtue(德,덕) in the ocean.

교화가 세워지면 구제의 공이 밝아지고 도덕이 이루어지면 구제의 공이 드날리게 된다.
  When moral transformation is established, the merit of salvation becomes clear;
  when morality is fulfilled, the merit of salvation becomes widely exalted.

水山者는 海陸也라 (수산자는 해륙야라)
  Su-san means the ocean and the land.


天이 濟海以陸하며 濟陸以海하여 (천이 제해이륙하며 제륙이해하여)
  Heaven saves the ocean by means of the land,
  and saves the land by means of the ocean.


敎自陸而化于海하며 道自陸而德于海하나니 (교자륙이화우해하며 도자륙이덕우해하나니)
  Teachings stem from the land and transform thr ocean;
  the Way syems from the land and becomes virtue in the ocean.


敎化立則濟功이 明하고 道德이 成則濟功이 揚이니라.
교화입즉제공이 명하고 도덕이 성즉제공이 양이니라.
  When moral transformation is establiahed, the merit of salvation shines brtghtly;
  the merit of salvationis exalted.


 [Explanation, 풀이]

제 163사의 내용은 대단히 의미심장하다.
  The content of Item No.163 is profoundly significant.

인류가 육지중의 육지인 중앙아시아에서 문명을 시작한지 약 만년 동안 흘렀다.
  About 10,000 years have passed since humanity began civilization
  in Central Asia ―the very heart of the mainland.

지금은 바다에까지 문명이 미치어  英美(영미)를 이은 일본과 우리를 비롯한
대만, 싱가포르, 홍콩 등 바다를 접한 문명이 다시 육지로 향하는 시기에 와 있다.
  Today, civilization has reached as far as the oceans,
  coming to a time where it heads back toward the mainland from places like Japan,
  which has caught up to the Anglo-American world(英美,영미),
  as well as Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong ―all of which border the sea.

만년이라는 세월로 볼 때 육지의 교화와 도덕이 바다에까지 이르렀고
다시 큰 반전을 하여 바다에서 육지로 향하고 있는 것이다.
  Looking at from the perspective of a 10,000-year history,
  the enlightenment and morality of reached the ocean,
  and now a massive reversal is taking place, heading back from the ocean to the mainland.

여기서 우리는 다른 해양국가와는 달리 만년전 인류 최초로 육지 문명을 일으킨 민족임과 동시에
다시 바다의 문명을 육지로 전하는 민족이 되고 있다고 보여진다.
  Here, we can see that unlike othre maritime nations,
  we are a people who initiated the world′s very first mainland civilization 10,000 years ago,
  while simultaneously becoming the people who are now transmitting
  maritime civilization back to the mainland.

우리민족은 그야말로 시작과 끝을 정리하는 역활을 말았다고 할 수 있다.
  It can be said that our nation has truly taken on the role of organizing both
  the beginning and the end.

제 163조가 상징하는 바는 대단히 크고 깊다 하겠다.
  Thus, what Article 163 symbolizes is exceptionally grand and deep.
