에스더의 결단과 금식(禁食)

(에4:1-17)
1 When Mordecai learned of all that had been done, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the city, wailing loudly and bitterly.  2 But he went only as far as the king's gate, because no one clothed in sackcloth was allowed to enter it.  3 In every province to which the edict and order of the king came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping and wailing. Many lay in sackcloth and ashes.  4 When Esther's maids and eunuchs came and told her about Mordecai, she was in great distress. She sent clothes for him to put on instead of his sackcloth, but he would not accept them.  5 Then Esther summoned Hathach, one of the king's eunuchs assigned to attend her, and ordered him to find out what was troubling Mordecai and why.  6 So Hathach went out to Mordecai in the open square of the city in front of the king's gate.  7 Mordecai told him everything that had happened to him, including the exact amount of money Haman had promised to pay into the royal treasury for the destruction of the Jews.  8 He also gave him a copy of the text of the edict for their annihilation, which had been published in Susa, to show to Esther and explain it to her, and he told him to urge her to go into the king's presence to beg for mercy and plead with him for her people.  9 Hathach went back and reported to Esther what Mordecai had said.  10 Then she instructed him to say to Mordecai,  11 "All the king's officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned the king has but one law: that he be put to death. The only exception to this is for the king to extend the gold scepter to him and spare his life. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king."  12 When Esther's words were reported to Mordecai,  13 he sent back this answer: "Do not think that because you are in the king's house you alone of all the Jews will escape.  14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"  15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai:  16 "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."  17 So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esther's instructions.  

하만의 계획과 진행의 정도를 알게 된 모르드개
거친 마포(麻布)를 입고 재를 뿌려가며 대성통곡(大聲痛哭)을 한다
온 유대족속들에게 엄청난 비보(悲報)가 되었고 위기(危機) 절망(絶望) 좌절(挫折) 낙심(落心)이 되어 
왕궁입구(王宮入口)에서 동참자(同參者)들과 함께
왕의 재고(再考)를 바라는 일종의 시위(示威)를 한다

이를 알게 된 에스더...
그 결과가 어떠함을 충분히 예상할 수 있기 까닭에
양부(養父)에게 갈아입을 옷을 보내며 중단할 것을 구한다
그러나
도리어 하만의 거금(巨金)에 매수(買收)되어 내려진 조치(措置)에 대한 실상을 알게함과 동시
왕비로서 왕에게 그 조치를 거두어 달라는 청원을 하라는 부탁을 받는다

그런데...
당시의 법으로 
누구든지 왕의 부름이나
사전 허락되지 않은 자가 혹여 스스로 왕 앞에 나설때에는 
등장 후 왕이 금홀(the gold scepter)을 내밀지 않는다면
즉결처단(卽決處斷) 심히면 죽음에 처해지는 법이 있었기에...주저(躊躇)하는 에스더...

모르드개는 그러한 에스더에게 
엄한 말로 꾸짖는다
“너는 왕궁에 있으니 모든 유다인 중에 홀로 목숨을 건지리라 생각하지 말라   14 이 때에 네가 만일 잠잠하여 말이 없으면 유다인은 다른 데로 말미암아 놓임과 구원을 얻으려니와 너와 네 아버지 집은 멸망하리라 네가 왕후의 자리를 얻은 것이 이 때를 위함이 아닌지 누가 알겠느냐” 
하여 정신이 버쩍 든 에스더
온 유대족속들에게 식음전폐금식(食飮全廢禁食)을 당부(當付)
죽으면 죽으리라는 각오로 본인도 3일금식을 작정 왕 앞에 나아 가기로 결심을 한다

오늘의 본문과 같이 
금식할 때가 있다
마9:15 막2:20 눅5:35 예수님의 말씀
‘신랑을 빼앗길 날이 이르리니 그 날에는 금식할 것이니라’
이 말은 개개인에게 성령이 소멸되어 떠나가는 상황을 의미하고
예배당에서 성령이 떠나가는 상황을 의미하며
나라에서 하나님의 성령이 손을 떼는 상황을 의미하는 듯 하다

그러니
지금이 금식할 때
위기의식을 느껴야 할 때
그러고 보니 나 역시
영적 나병이 걸려 무감각(無感覺)
죽어가고 있는 것 조차 느끼지 못하는 상태가 아닌가 ... 하는 생각을 갖게 된다

금식할 마음도 없고
자신도 없고
위기감도 없고
애절함도 없으니...
이 또한 성령의 지원을 받아야 하겠는데...
어쩐다?
