1953년 소련에서 스탈린이 사망한 후의 일은 퍽 교훈적이다.

 스탈린의 죄상을 낱낱이 까발려서 국민의 환심을 사고,

역사의 가려졌던 부분을 드러내어 진실을 복권리키려고 서두른 소련 지도층은,

몇 해 안가서 그 작업을 유아무아로 처리하고 말았다.

진실을 가려낼수록 소련 사회의 상층부에 군림하고 있는

오늘의 권세자들의 발밑이 위태로와지기 시작했다.

이 작업은 역사의 진실을 드러낸다는 명분은 좋았지만 현존하는 기득권자들에게는 

역사적 진실이 밝혀지는 것보다는 그대로 가려두는 것이 더 큰 이익이 었기 때문이다.
