 U.S. lawmakers grilled the CEO of TikTok over data security

and harmful content Thursday, responding skeptically

during a tense committee hearing to his assurances that

the hugely popular video-sharing app prioritizes user safety

and should not be banned.

     츄는 혐의를 부인했다.

Shou Zi Chew's rare public appearance came at a crucial time

for the company, which has 150 million American users

but is under increasing pressure from U.S. officials.

TikTok and its Chinese parent company, ByteDance,

have been caught in a wider geopolitical battle

between Beijing and Washington over trade and technology.

 ; 틱톡은 미국내 1억5천만 고객을 확보하고 있는 대기업.

   틱톡의 모회사인 바이트댄스는 통상과 기술문제로 미국과 중국간에 

   마찰을 보이고 있다.

Committee members also showed a host of TikTok videos

that encouraged users to harm themselves and commit suicide.

 ; 안보, 보안 문제 외에 유해정보와 자살을 방조하는 콘텐츠를 규제

하지 않는 것도 틱톡의 불법이라고 의회 위원회는 주장했다. 

틱톡은 미의회의 주장에 대해 대부분 인정을 하지 않고 있다. 

청문회는 계속되고 있다. 

국무장관 블린컨은 틱톡의 혐의를 강하게 주장하고 있다. 

미의회의 양당은 같은 입장이다.

A U.S. ban on the app would be unprecedented and

it's unclear how it would be enforced.

 ; 그러나 미국은 소셜미디어의 앱을 규제한 사례가 없다. 

틱톡을 직접 규제하는 것이 현실적으로 어려울 것이라는 예측이 있다.

(Tesla, MS, Apple, 등 미국의 IT 기업들이 중국에서 영업을 하고 있다. 

 틱톡에 대한 규제가 쉽지 않을 것이다라는 예측이 우세하다)
