A fire at the Daejeon National Information Resources Service has caused disruptions in accessing education-related systems, including NEIS, the National Education Information System.
​
On the 27th, NEIS announced on its website, “Due to the fire at the National Information Resources Service, some login services, such as simplified authentication, are currently restricted,” and added, “We will strive to restore services as quickly as possible.”
​
NEIS is a system used by 17 provincial offices of education and approximately 12,000 elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide, as well as students and teachers, for purposes such as managing grades and school records.
The Ministry of Education stated, “As the NEIS servers are physically managed separately by the provincial offices of education and the NEIS headquarters center, there are no issues such as data loss.”

However, it noted, “There is a step in the login authentication process that involves verification linked to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s certification system, which is why logins are not functioning properly,” and added, “We are conducting tests and inspections to switch to the Ministry of Education’s own certificate verification system.”

According to a source from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, in addition to NEIS, logins for K-Edufine are also restricted today. K-Edufine is an integrated local education administration and finance system. Currently, the Ministry of Education’s website is also inaccessible.

The Ministry of Education announced earlier that day, “A minister-direct emergency response team is currently operational, and we are preparing measures to address the ongoing restoration delays.”

대전 국가정보자원관리원에서 발생한 화재로 ‘나이스(NEIS·교육행정정보시스템)' 등 교육 관련 시스템 역시 접속에 차질이 생기고 있다.

27일 나이스는 홈페이지에 “국가정보자원관리원 화재로 인해 일부 로그인 서비스(간편인증 등)가 제한되고 있다”며 “신속히 복구될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

나이스는 17개 시도교육청과 전국 1만2000여개 초·중·고교 학생과 교사 등이 성적과 생활기록부 등을 위해 사용하는 시스템이다.

교육부는 “나이스 서버는 물리적으로 시도교육청과 나이스 총괄 센터에서 별도 관리하고 있기 때문에 데이터 유실 등의 문제는 전혀 없다”고 밝혔다.

다만 “로그인 인증 과정에서 행안부 인증 시스템과 연계 검증되는 단계가 있어 로그인이 정상적으로 되지 않고 있다”며 “교육부 자체 인증서 검증으로 전환하기 위해 테스트 등 점검을 하고 있다”고 했다.

경기도교육청에 따르면, 이날 나이스 외에 ‘K-에듀파인’ 로그인도 제한되고 있다. K-에듀파인은 지방 교육 행·재정 통합시스템이다. 현재 교육부 홈페이지도 접속되지 않고 있다.

교육부는 이날 오전 “장관 직속 비상상황반이 가동 중이며, 미복구에 따른 대책을 마련 중”이라고 밝혔다.
