4) 노상전도시 취해야 할 태도 - 2

그리고 여러분들이 길을 가다가, 전단지 같은 것을 많이 줘 가지고 버리고 간 것이 있으면, 이건 반드시 사람들이 밟게 하지 말고 통일교회 교인이라면 누구든지 가서 주으라구요. 그것이 이 시민 앞에 모범이 되어야 되겠다 이거예요. 길을 갈 때 전단지가 떨어지면 어떻게 되나 보라구요.

거기에는 별의별 사람이 다 있을 텐데 그것을 줍는 것은 천 사람 만 사람에게 나눠 주는 것보다 중요하다는 걸 알아야 돼요. 그럴 때 우리가 주워서 모범을 보이면 전단지 천 장 나누어 주는 것보다도, 그걸 본 사람들은, 생각이 있는 사람들이라면…. 그게 말 없는 선전이 된다는 거예요. 그것을 줍는 것은 백 사람 천 사람도 볼 수 있는 거라구요. 그것이 백 장, 천 장 나누어 주는 것보다도 낫다는 것을 알아야 돼요. 이러한 등등의 동기를 만들어야겠다는 거예요. 

여러분들이 서 가지고 전단지를 나누어 주는 곳은 반드시 아무리 무슨 더러운 것이라도 다 주워서 쓰레기통에 넣고 환경을 깨끗이 하라구요. 그러면 매일 그곳에 나오기 때문에 그 주위에 있는 상점들은 전부 다 보는 거예요. '저 여자 또 나왔구나. 저 남자 또 나왔구나. 저기에 배치받은 저 사람 근성은 어떤가' 하고 한 번 시험도 해보고 찔러도 본다는 거예요. 

그 주위에 상점 주인들, 아들들 전부 다 모여서 저 사람이 어떻고 어떻고 해 가지고 '아, 너 한번쯤 저 사람 테스트해 봐라, 찔러 봐라, 어쩌나 보자. 이럴 것이다.' 하고 자기들끼리 논란도 벌어지고 별의별 일이 대번에 벌어지는 것을 전부 다 수습할 수 있는 놀음이 이제 금후에 이 작전에 의해서 달라진다는 걸 알아야 된다구요. 그 사람들이 한 번, 두 번, 세 번 해서도 조금도 변함이 없으면 탄복을 하고 그다음에는 선전을 한다는 거예요. '야아, 대단하다. 참 훌륭하다! '고…. (86-263) 

여러분들이 어디 갈 때도 될 수 있으면 똑바로…. 이제부터는 뭐라고 할까요? 여러분이 선전삐라와 마찬가지라구요. 가더라도 똑바로 가야 되겠어요. 척척척 정연하게, 이렇게 단정하게…. (행동으로 보여 주심) 둘이 만나서 가더라도 줄을 딱 지어 가지고 가야지, 뭐 이렇게 쇼 윈도를 보고 뭐 이러고 가지 말라구요. 이번 60일 기간은 뉴욕 시민을 올바로 지도하는 교육기간입니다. 

여러분은 시민을 교육하는 선생님이라는 생각을 해야 되겠다구요. 무엇인가 내가 가르쳐야 된다는, 나는 못 봤지만 나를 보는 사람한테 가르쳐 준다는 생각을 가지고… 이래 가지고 이번에 뉴욕시에 영향을 미쳐야 되겠습니다.

그러므로 여러분들은 '나는 이번 기간에 이런 표정을 할 것이다.' 하는 것을 정하라구요. 그다음에는 나는 '이러한 친절한 말을 할 것이다.' 하는 것을 정하라구요. 언제나 그 방식을 외워서 움직이라구요.

누가 공격을 하더라도 그 표정을 하라는 거예요. 더욱기 논란하다가 '너, 가면 갔지 뭐' 그러지 말라구요. 절대 그러지 말라는 거예요. 고맙게 인사를 하라는 거예요. '또다시 보자'고 한마디하는 거예요.

논란이 끝나 가지고 서로 기분이 나빠 가지고 보낼 때는 그냥 보내지 말라는 거예요. '또 한 번 다시 만나자'고, '참 고맙다.'고 하라는 거예요. 절대 만난 사람을 섭섭하게, 오해하게끔 기분 나쁘게 하지 말라구요. 알겠어요?「예」 (86--264)

4) 路上伝道のときに取らなければならない態度 - 2

そして、皆さんが道を行って、ビラのようなものをたくさん分けてあげながら、捨てていったものがあれば、これは必ず人が踏まないようにし、統一教会会員ならば誰でも行って拾えというのです。これがこの市民の前に模範にならなければならないということです。道を行くのに、ビラが落ちればどうなるか、よく見なさいというのです。

そこには、いろんな人がいるはずなのですが、それを拾うのは、千人、万人に分け与えるより重要だということを知らなければいけません。そういうとき、私たちが拾って模範を見せれば、ビラ千枚分けることよりそれを見た人たちは、考えのある人たちなら、それが無言の宣伝になるというのです。それを拾う人を百人、千人も見ることができるのです。それが百枚、千枚分けてあげることよりましだということを知らなければなりません。こうした、数々の動機をつくらなければならないのです。

皆さんが立って、配ってあげたビラは、どんなに汚れたものでも、必ずみな拾ってごみ箱に入れて、環境をきれいにせよということなのです。そうすれば、そこに毎日出るので、その周囲にいる商店の人は、みな見るのです。「あの女性、また来たのだなあ。あの男性、また来たのだなあ。あそこに配置されたあの人の性質はどうだろう」と一度試験をするために、つっついてもみるというのです。

この周囲に、商店の主人たち、息子たち、全部集まって、あの人がどうであり、どうだと言って、「お前、一度くらいあの人をテストしてみろ、つっついてみろ、どうするか見てみよう。こうなるだろう」と自分たち同士で論争も起こし、いろんなことが一度に広がります。

それをみな収拾できるのです。今後、この作戦によって変わるということを知らなければならないのです。その人たちが、一度、二度、三度しても、少しも変わらなければ感服して、その次には、宣伝をするというのです。「やあ、すごいなあ、本当にすごい」と……。（八六―二六三）

皆さんは、どこに行くにも、しっかりしなければなりません、今からは、皆さんは宣伝ビラと同じなのです。歩くのも、しっかり歩かなければなりません。整然と、端正に（行動で見せてくださる）、二人で会って行っても、列をつくっていかなければ、ショーウィンドーを見て、こんなふうにして行くなというのです。今回六十日の期間は、ニューヨークの市民を正しく指導する教育期間です。

皆さんは、市民を教育する先生だという考えをもたなければなりません。何か、私が教えなければならないのだが、私は会わなかったけれど、私を見る人に教えてあげるという考えをもって……。こうして、今回ニューヨーク市に影響を及ぼさなければなりません。

ゆえに皆さんは、「私は今回の期間に、こういう表情をするのだ」ということを定めよというのです。その次には、私は「こういった親切なことを言うのだ」ということを定めよというのです。いつでも、その方法を覚えて動きなさい。誰かが攻撃をしても、その表情をせよというのです。さらに論戦して、「お前行くなら行け」そう言ってはいけません。

絶対そうしてはいけません。ありがたく、あいさつをせよというのです。「また会おう」と一言言うのです。論戦が終わって、互いに気分が悪くて送る時は、そのまま送るなというのです。「また一度会おう」と「本当に有り難い」と言うのです。絶対会った人を、寂しく、誤解させるように、気分を悪くするなということです。分かりますか？ （はい）。（八六―二六四）

4) The Attitude You Should Have While Witnessing on the Road - 2

Moreover, if you see a lot of our announcement pamphlets thrown on the street, then all Unification Church members should pick them up and never let them be stumbled upon. This will become an example before other citizens.

Think about what would happen to those pamphlets that are dropped while walking on the road. There are all kinds of people watching on the street, and picking them up is more important than giving them out to thousands of people.

At this time, if we can show an example by picking them up, then it is even better than giving them out. Those people who see this, as long as they are contemplative people, will . . . This will become silent propaganda.

When someone picks them up, hundreds and thousands of people can see it. You should understand that it is better than distributing a hundred or a thousand pamphlets. You should seize various opportunities such as this. When you are giving out the pamphlets, you must clean up the area around you.

No matter how dirty it is you must throw trash in the basket and clean up the environment. Then, since you go out everyday, shop owners in the vicinity will notice it. They will test you saying, "That man or woman came out again.

What is the nature of the person assigned to that place?" The shop owners from the area will gather all the kids in the neighborhood and tell them how that person is, then order them to test him saying, "You go ahead and test him. Nock him and see what he does. I think he is going to respond like this."

They will argue among themselves about the outcome, and through this strategy one can find ways to resolve all the various troubles that might have otherwise surfaced. You have to understand this. When they find that your standard still remains unchanged after the second and third test, then they will be deeply impressed, and will begin to do propaganda on your behalf by telling others, "Wow, they are marvelous and great!" [86-263]
 
When you are going some place, you should also as much as possible . . . What should I call it from now on? It is just like your propaganda board. Even if you go, you should go straight forward, in an orderly manner. Even if there are only two of you, you should still walk in a straight line. Such things as window-shopping should not sidetrack you.

This sixty-day period is the time to educate the New York citizens in the right way. You should think of yourselves as teachers who are to educate the citizens. You should be prepared to teach, teaching those who see me, even though I have not seen it . . . In this manner we must influence New York City. Therefore, you should determine, "I will put on such facial expressions during this period."

Then, decide, "I will use such and such kind words." Always act according to the formula that you have memorized. No matter who attacks you, you should maintain such expressions. In particular, do not say to a person with whom you have been debating, "You, go if you like." Never ever do that. After the debate, if the two of you feel at odds, then do not let the person go back just like that.

Tell him, "Let's meet again," and "thank you very much." Never let those whom you have met walk away with sour feelings, and make sure that he or she does not go back with some misunderstanding. Do you understand? [Yes] [86-264]
